Best shooting and best looking 9mm I’ve ever owned BUT I found that the Omega holsters are harder to find and ALSO for concealed carry the darn decocker on the right side of the gun causes the holsters to have a bulge on that side. Great Video. I bought a pcr, the thing bites my finger every time I squeeze the trigger with that stupid ring hook trigger. That said I picked up a p-01 omega and the trigger doesn't bite me, feels smoother, with a true wall to break, shorter reset, best thing it was the same price as my pcr. So in my experiences, I'll take the omega in the P-01.

I've always been a fan of Beretta, hammer-fired, OG, both form & function style handguns instead of the plastic, blocky, eyesores. I now carry a 75 D PCR after having carried a Sig P365 XL for a couple years (an excellent carry weapon) because...well, it's just feels like I'm bringing a real gun to a gunfight. Plus, it's extremely accurate and reliable, and I just love it. I've been going back-and-forth on whether to pickup the P-01 or P-01 Omega next...with the latter being the more expensive and more difficult to find option. Your right I have a p07 with the omega system, their putting the omega system in all their double action guns now. When this was released the omega brand was synonymous with the urban grey with the raised sights.
I have a 75 compact & a p01 omega & I prefer the omega because I was able to swap out the de cocker for the safety, & also I prefer the “flat” trigger over the curved. I shoot better with it being a little flatter in my opinion especially if I’m shooting somewhat rapid
My very first gun was a PCR and I LOVED that gun. I even installed the CGW pro package into it after only the first two days of owning it because I had a little trouble reaching the trigger in DA and the end result was just phenomenal. Several months later, I fell onto some hard times and decided that I needed to sell it and I've been kicking myself ever since. Once I was able to buy a new gun, I was basically set on recreating that first gun that I loved so much and shot so well but I eventually decided to buy a Glock 19 instead. I'm a serious tinkerer and the prospect of getting a Glock and totally tricking it out sounded pretty cool to me. I had a lot of fun with it and even picked up a few more Glocks to modify as time went on but I still really missed my CZ. I decided that I'd keep an eye out for a non-omega P-01 and if I could find one, I'd buy it right away. After looking around for quite a while, I finally found one listed online being sold by some gun shop in Rhode Island so I picked up the phone and bought it right away - then I went and placed a big order with CGW and now I'm just waiting on everything to arrive. I cannot wait.
Fantastic image quality and lighting, well done. I just bought an Omega, waiting for it to arrive and I'm soaking up all the CZ lore I can in the meantime.
Thanks I like the old fashioned. I got the Berettas I wanted and now I'm ready for the CZ that i have heard so much about. I like DA/SA all metal hammer fired compact sized guns. I wondered about the difference. I know I'm not a fan of the suppressor sights. I trying to keep my purchase close to $500.
Thanks a lot for the explanation. Man, you cannot GOOGLE the difference in these weapons. Maybe i'm a dummy but i swear i've tried several times and with several different keyword combos. Nothing. Most RUclipsrs and even CZ's own website seem to start in the middle of the story, expecting you to already be with them on chapter 2. But you've explained it here simply and thoroughly, and i finally(!) got what i come fer. Thanks, 76OB. Cheers 🥂 👌🏾 🤜🏾🤛🏻
Thanks for the video. I have always wondered about the differences between -01 & -01 Omega...now I know! I have a 75B and love it. Just got Truglu sights installed. But I would love to have a P-01 too. All are great guns.
I think it just comes down to: do you want to carry cocked and locked? For instance if your other guns are 1911’s and you want the manual of arms to be similar, the omega is the only way to go. If you don’t care about that feature, there’s no reason to get it.
I like the looks of the CZ compacts. I'm relatively new to CZ handguns, but in just over a year I have acquired a P-07, P-09, and a Shadow 2. I suppose it is just a matter of time before I wind up a CZ compact. NIce video and I just subscribed.
I went with the black Omega convertible for three reasons. 1. I prefer the trigger shape 2. I prefer the decocker location 3. I may want to try running SAO at some point to see if I like it.
I agree with you, any CZ is a good CZ. but I will say I prefer the omega simply because the decocker is easier to actuate. given that I have arthritic hands, the geometry and position of the lever just functions easier.
Oh man i think personally that the omega FOR THE PRICE DIFFERENCE is hands down worth it. The solid trigger pin, trigger shoe shape, that race hammer is incredible, and not to skip the obvious the option for the safety. I just find it to be a gun with that little bit extra thought over the standard model. My omega is the black model so there were no suppressor sights or threaded barrel. Im sure this plays into my cost comparison theory but at my LGS i think it was near or around $50 between the standard P-01 and the omega version i ended up with. At least for me it was an obvious choice. I am curious how much more the suppressor ready setup is though, if theres a price difference at all from my “regular” omega...
Hey 17! Nice job on the vid! Well done, sir. Just as a sidebar, I got an early 75B Omega. It didn't come with the newer less curved trigger, which apparently was common initially. The first time I heard that was on last week's 3 Guys chat, according to (hat tip) MatteoSixSeventyFour. My 75B didn't come with the decocker either, just the safety. A small penalty for being an early adopter, I guess. I also heard that CZ reengineered the Omega trigger system for smoother operation and a less complicated design with less parts. I'm not sure if that's true, but it seems valid. Maybe one of the other guys knows if that's the case.
I mentioned that in the video it was created to be less complicated when disassembling and reassembly and all the parts are transferrable to any other omega
1776 or Bust Yes, you did! I believe what you said is the case and true. I wasn't trying to argue the point with you. I think we just said similar things in different ways. I was just trying to point out what I read on the Omega system, bringing it out to the attention of others to get feedback, that's all. No harm, no foul. 👍🏻 See ya on the chat later!!! 😎
I think the original trigger is slightly lighter. The Omega, after 1,000 rounds really smooths out nicely. Not necessarily so with the original. The Omega system is more rugged than the original 75b, and simplified. I like the Omega. I own both. Plus, that super curved trigger bites my finger. Which, is not an uncommon complaint. But you're right...find one, buy one. Who cares what it is. Also, typically, the Omega is a few bucks less than the original. Fewer parts. Easier assembly.
Sean Vine I read the omega uses cheaper metals on some parts. And if you ever plan on modifying the trigger with a cgw Kit, the original is the way to go.
Thanks for work and time you spend for this video. My personal choice was PCR because I needed a gun easy to pull( no rail) and the physical chamber indicator witch is absent in the P-01 or P-01 Omega
Really nice video 1776! I have a P-01 and it is one of my favorite pistols, (even though the Shadow 2 is my all time favorite :-). But I have shot the Omega and it doesn't seem to be any different than the P-01. I shoot them equally well. I'd still kind of like to have an Omega, but we'll see.
I don't notice or see any significant difference between the two although I don't think you were supposed to I think it's just the ease of disassembling and reassembling and the fact that they're interchangeable with other omegas
the standard P01 has more room for wearing a glove in the trigger area which makes a big difference at times -unless you always live in a warm climate.
I strongly prefer the Omega, the trigger pull and reset are only a little better from the original but I really do not like extremely curved triggers like the original, I also do not like 100% flat triggers either, the Omega trigger is the Goldilocks zone in shape for me personally, it could be because I have fairly large hands with long fingers. I really like the CZ P01 but my favorite is the CS P09 Omega Tactical, with high sights, suppressor ready 2 round extended mags holds 21 rounds and in that urban grey color, that gun shoots like a dream.
Great points. I got the regular P-01 because I liked the positioning of the decocker. Most firearms I really can't decock them properly without adjusting my grip. People get caught up with the name Omega but all the pistols you've shown are great.
@@1776orbust At the same time could you argue that the raised sites on the p-01 Omega supp ready is an upgrade from a regular p01? Really close to purchasing either but i think either way i will love it. Only shot an sp01 thus far and loved how balanced it was.
I like the omega system better simply for the trigger shoe shape. I have bear paws for hands and the curved trigger bites the bottom of my trigger finger.
If you are looking to purchase a CZ P-01 (or any other model that offers either decocker or safety options), and your intention is to modify with the Cajun Gun Works Pro Package - then don't bother getting the Omega variety because the Cajun package will be replacing virtually every Omega part. So, in that case just buy the model with the decocker.
I have a CZ75 bd that everyone wants to buy off me.....but I love it.....dont know much about CZs and how they label them....saw this in my LGS and liked how it felt, so I got lucky and really enjoy it
Thank you for making us California folk who can't get an Omega outright feel left out (: I have an sp01 w some cgw parts, just got a 97b for keep's sake, and i can't wait to get my first p01!!
I have 25 czs, all full frame steel no polymer. Just my preference. It is so hard to say which is my favorite. Cz is just quality all around, sp01, p01, 75b, shadow 2, sport tactical, 97b...they all are top
Anyone trying to decide between the P01 and Omega should research the walking decoker/safety on the P01 Omega. Theres a few videos on RUclips and several google blogs. Apparently the P01 Omega has a serious problem with the decocker separating when the ejector is pressed down. After alot of research, I went with the regular P01 to be safe.
The only real difference between the three is their original rear sight. It is best in the omega and worst in the PCR. I have the PCR, and I changed the sight before even shooting it.
The omega is nice as I don't like messing with roll pins if at all possible. I'm not too happy with the roll pin in the slide for pulling the firing pin.
I bought a P01 seven years ago. I went through a major revolver phase a few years back and considered selling the P01 many times to get another revolver. I never did and damn glad I never did, as I rediscovered the joys of shooting this fine semi-auto.
1776 or Bust Nope. It’s exactly the same as the PO1 (Alloy frame incl. rail ect) only in Europe I guess. Mine is made in 2014. Not sure but I believe the newer models are called PO1 now too - At least the omega is.
I recently bought the omega and i really love it. Only changed out the grips for some g10. I think its amazing. Also own the cz p10c and its my favorite plastic fantastic.
I really like my PO1. It's not the Omega, but a very good pistol. The one thing I can say is, I wish the P01 had the same decocker as the Omega. That matches my P09 decocker location and function. Why they change that up/make them different is beyond me.
I compared the SP-01 Phantom to a P-09 and didn't like the P-09 trigger. Non-Omega was way more comfortable for me. I just can't decide between the Phantom and P-01 (non-Omega) that I found with the $70 price difference.
Conventional wisdom seems to be that the original trigger is better than the Omega with decocker, while the Omega with safety has a better trigger than the original. I couldn't say as my Omega is still on order.
it all depends if you want a civilian pistol or a military certified pistol P-01(designed in 2001, NATO-approved in 2003) LE and Military duty...Reliability: The U.S. Army “Mean Rounds Between Failure” (MRBF) requirement is 495 rounds for 9mm pistols. During testing of the CZ P-01, the average number of stoppages was only 7 per 15,000 rounds fired. This is a .05% failure rate or an MRBF of 2142! For many years, the P-01 carried an NSN engraved on its frame, making it the first NATO-spec pistol ever available to the public.
I have the P-01. I was thinking about selling it or trading it for an Omega, but at that time I could not find an Omega. I bought the less curved CZ 85 Combat trigger and spring kit from Cajun Gun Works. I'm good now and love the gun and no longer looking at buying an Omega.
Thanks for the info on the P-01 ( my friend is my sister in San Fran ) , I always thought CZ Looked to be a very good gun , I have never held one in my hand . She is a lefty . In looking into the laws , sounds like what you live with in NY , paper work & time seems to be the worst part . This gun & others on the LIST is not really the problem . She has no permit , so it will mostly be a house gun . She has shot here in the mid west , not enough to count . I knew if SHTF .. time is the issue . Here , no permit needed & 15 min your out the door . No transfer paper work needed , if it was from me . We'll see how things go . Thanks !
I miss my p01. The only thing I hated was the curve in the trigger. After 300 rounds it would cause a nice blister. My PCR is amazing, but the 85 trigger does it too after 350 rounds.
Yeah I don't think I need an Omega as I can install a better P01 trigger from ArmoryCraft or a semi flat from CGW and the spring kits with the extended firing pin is awesome. My only wish is that I could switch out the P01 Decocker for the Omega. I would like that a lot. I don't see anything in searches about being able to do that so I'm at a loss. But I can put in that cool looking hammer as well. So to me it's only about the decocker.
I got the same omega as you. I could not pass up the price on it. I was going to get the 75 compact pcr. Till I saw the omega and the price they offered it to me at plus another discount for paying cash.

I know its subjective but the omega safety decocker is mutch more intuitive to use for most people. The original, while functional has poor ergonomics especially in high stress or combat situations.

NIce video and I just subscribed.
they're hard to beat
I'm assuming, by now (after 3 years) you have bought 3 more CZ's. Possibly a P01 or P01 Omega.. Great pistols. Once you have one, you can't stop!!
The original P01 rocks significantly the best pistol ....cause that's what i have strapped on every day carry needs......
Standard all day any day if you want to upgrade the gun. The omega was canceled this year for a reason.
I went with the black Omega convertible for three reasons. 1. I prefer the trigger shape 2. I prefer the decocker location 3. I may want to try running SAO at some point to see if I like it.
The omega can be converted to SA?
@@sycamorebacker1 Yes. The parts to change it are included with Omega guns.
I agree with you, any CZ is a good CZ. but I will say I prefer the omega simply because the decocker is easier to actuate. given that I have arthritic hands, the geometry and position of the lever just functions easier.
Agree. I do like the newer trigger shape that comes with the latest Omega versions. If it’s better though it is only slightly. Good honest advice.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. All great guns, but you still need to purchase a Shadow 2.
Just went with the Omega. Love this gun!!
Cool video, thanks. Its funny today in 2022 the Omega version is actually less expensive than the standard P-01 for some reason, almost 100$ more
I think the original trigger is slightly lighter.
Well Big Johnson and Kota have went Glock happy. I figured you were next. Looks like you are the last hold out. 😎
You neveff know🙄
Shootin' with Uncle Dan he’s been there. 76 has some really nice G19s. Check out his Am Flag G19.
I love my CZs, but really...how do you replace a Glock 19? You dont.
They are both really good but I think most people don't really know what the omega really is.
My selection was easy, only one I could find was on Omega, so, got the Omega!
You’re not wrong about that spongy trigger feeling on the omega version
Can you upgrade the trigger in them to fix that?
@@cosmicheretic8129 I would think you can but I do know the omega trigger is less upgradable than the standard
My lgs has P01 omegas new and in stock. I'm in the bay area.
Been looking at both, needed this - thank you!
I have 25 czs, all full frame steel no polymer. Just my preference. It is so hard to say which is my favorite. Cz is just quality all around, sp01, p01, 75b, shadow 2, sport tactical, 97b...they all are top
how did you get a steel frame p01? they are aluminium alloy for everyone else in the world. you must be some kind of special
@@fredgarvin4482 I think I meant not polymer. I may have not been clear. See link below as well.
ruclips.net/video/Yy50WySp4Io/видео.html
@@fredgarvin4482 they make steel framed P01s. 🙄 Hard to find but they do make them. Product #99041.
I just got the Shadow 2 compact. Now I want more. It’s great but I really want a p-01
The only real difference between the three is their original rear sight. It is best in the omega and worst in the PCR. I have the PCR, and I changed the sight before even shooting it.
CZ. Great guns. P01 - love the decocker. One less thing to deal with on 1st shot. I dry fired til I'm actually better on SA.
I love my p01! I’m still getting used to it, only have 50 rounds through it.
Pete I actually sold my first one and regretted it every day until i got these
Got the 75D compact (PO1 in the US) and love it!
Last Frontier Channel isn't the 75d the pcr?
1776 or Bust Nope. It’s exactly the same as the PO1 (Alloy frame incl. rail ect) only in Europe I guess. Mine is made in 2014. Not sure but I believe the newer models are called PO1 now too - At least the omega is.
very cool thanks
Great video!! I’m trying to decide between the Omega, P01 and the baby desert Eagle 3… they are all similar.. just can’t make up my mind… lol
P01 imo
Hopefully there is a Shadow 2 Compact in the works, well done
vid
mag swap on the omega is super easy compared to the old style of internals.
Thank you for your honesty. Nice explanation.
Thanks for watching
Most P-01 Omegas have a walking decocker issue related to a design flaw. CZ really should have issued a recall.
it all depends if you want a civilian pistol or a military certified pistol P-01(designed in 2001, NATO-approved in 2003) LE and Military duty...Reliability: The U.S.
Exactly 👍
Waiting to pick up my omega, just waiting on the call from my local shop. ☝🤠☝
Thanks !
I like the overall size of that pistol. Good luck on the upcoming well deserved 5k subs.
They fit me perfectly
I think my favorite is the regular P01 and I like the decocker on it better than the one on the omega. For me anyway.
Great video. Thanks for explaining!
I bought the Omega because it was the only one I could find...my gun store had one left.
Matthew Leigh lucky, i've been looking for two years...
anonymous_end_user where do you live?
@@anonymous_end_user
The gun stores around me don't even carry any compact CZ's. Just bought an SP-01 phantom to tide me over till I can find a PCR or P-01
Same here i originally wanted a cz75 sp101 went back to the store they had only one cz75b omega left and settled on it couldnt be any happier the thing shoots like a dream
Definitely agree with you if you find one get it 👍
Thanks for showing the difference take care.
Like you I have all 3. I honestly prefer the non Omega P-01.
Good video. CZ needs to start sending the three guys some marketing dollars, but maybe not after you just shut down the Omega allure. I liked the gun porn shots too. Keep it up dude.
the omega isn't needed but certainly wanted
That PCR looks nice
Thx on the fence. Hmmmm. I got a HNK P2000 SK. AND COUPLE SIGS. I LIKE DECOCKERS
Nice job on your subs and growth of your channel as you can look at the mirror and thank yourself for the good vids....A couple of good pistols as I own a PCR and love it but would love to own the P-01....Good stuff...
Thank you Scott now go get that p01
Those don't really exist. I've never seen one or had one in my hands. Never seen one in my local gun stores. That's really true and I have two of my stores here if they can get any of the P01 order it and I'll buy it. I do have the SP01 Tac and it is a nice shooter.
I know its subjective but the omega safety decocker is mutch more intuitive to use for most people. The original, while functional has poor ergonomics especially in high stress or combat situations.
but why would you need to operate a decocker in a stressful or combat situation? at least on the non omega
Is that the secret, no cameras allowed, center at the beginning? I found this presentation very informative, good stuff.
For your 5K GAW, you should give away one of Tyler's ARs. 😈 😇
no that's the dungeon
great breakdown of the differences! exactly what i needed to know, and nothing else. articulate and to the point. (had to sub, tho i needed another sub to a gun channel like a hole in the head). i have a p01 and was thinking of sending it to cgw for the defensive carry install, among other options.
Thank you for the comment and the sub I have never sent anything to CGW however I have bought their spring kits for $25 and it put them in both in my opinion it's a pretty decent upgrade for a very cheap price double action and single action pulls are less because of it
If you actually look at the internals of both trigger systems. The standard system is more "robust" than the Omega, for lack of a better word.
Good video, keep up the video's they are some of the best !
Thanks, man. I truly appreciate it. But I will admit some of them suck, LOL.
I bought the Omega because it was the only P-01 I could find.
I have the omega trigger in the p-07, and my p-01 is not, I love them both, but I can shoot more precise with the p-01
Could be the weight
Do you absolutely need it? Maybe not but I appreciate the lighter trigger and the ability to swap from decocker to safety and vice versa.
If possible someday you should review the olight pl mini and stick it on the p-01, debating whether to get that light or not for my p-01 that’s never going to arrive haha just a thought.. thanks!
I have the Valkyrie 2 which is nice. Works great!
I sure wish i had the option to buy an omega. They discontinued them. I wanted a p-01 for year's and never got one. I'm debating a p-07 or p-01
You can still get an omega from gbroker
I'd like to handle them both to feel the difference in the location of the decocker. Now if I could only find someone that has them in stock!
I've heard the p 01's are on backorder 16 months now
I had the omega and sold it to buy the sa/da version. I just like it more
