P01 Omega is my carry gun , no mods other than Truglo Tritium pro night sights and som Lok thin matrix grips. I will never go back to a striker fired polymer pistol for edc I’m much more confident carrying a decocked hammer fired pistol and the CZ is super reliable and accurate
Been a Glock and M&P guy and with in the last year I have purchased both of these guns and really like both of them. I recently i stalled TFX Pro sights on my my PCR. Huge improvement over the stock sights. Great video.
Some say the split pin that stops the firing pin is a split pin for a reason. Split pin does slowly collapse and eventually break if one dry fires a lot. Split pin is effectively acting as an impact surface and the pin's slow collapse is reducing the firing pin's likelihood of work hardening and eventually breaking. Replacing the split pin with a solid pin puts more stress on the firing pin and thereby increases the likelihood of firing pin breakage.
@@zeke-hernandez I’m retired, I don’t go out at night much. And when i do its just to my local gas/store to pick something up. @@zeke-hernandez probably a late comment, but in terms of rails I recommend a rail only for your home defense gun. Prefer no rail because if I need a flashlight (and not a gun) Id rather have it as a separate tool. If I was police or military, I would want a rail mounted light. Also, less bulk when carrying.
@rjg02005 Great video mate. Really helpful. Was debating between the 2 guns and started to tend toward the 75D PCR until the end of the video. That last part is scary to me. I think i ll go with the p01.
I appreciate your comparison. The P-01 & 75 D PCR are somewhat similar, & I have been trying to sort out differences beyond the front attachment rail. I thought I might like the round indicator feature, but now I'm leaning towards the P-01 (without one). Thanks!
I think the chamber loaded indicator is a nice feature in theory, but it's ultimately an unnecessary component that can get gummed up and cause issues. I will say that the narrower muzzle end of the PCR carries nicer if you're using a leather or hybrid holster. There isn't much difference shooting, but I'd give the advantage slightly to the P01. Both are pretty light recoiling, but if you hang a light on the P01 it recoils ridiculously flat.
I have a pcr and i almost ordered a steel guide rod before I read a story that the steel guide rod will wear down your aluminum frame with recoil. It makes sense steel vs aluminum but does anyone have experience with this? Still rockin the plastic guide rod
I've seen this in a forum. The heavier spring I mentioned was in response to this issue (I only put it in when I know I'm going to shoot hotter ammo), and you can put a recoil buffer in there as well. Lighter and more-worn recoil springs will lead to more impact to the frame over time. That said, I have about 1500 rounds through the p-01 (bought new) and 700 that I've put through the PCR (bought used) and have not noticed any of this deformation first hand in either gun.
A few people have said the newer CZs ship with MecGars from the factory. It might have a blue follower or say "made in Italy." IMO, the mecgar mags, both 14 and 15rd ones, are superior to the CZ produced ones.
I'm pretty sure the newer MecGar 15rd mags are supplied with the newer guns. The 14rd mag shown came with my Compact D when I puchased it used a long time ago. The P-01 came with CZ brand 10-rd mags. I'm curious as well to any other people's experience.

I just replaced the rear sight on my PCR with a red dot, so I can hit the side of a barn without having to be inside it. It is now a bit less perfect for concealed carry, but if I ever need to draw it in anger, at least I can hit something with it. Still feels perfect in my hand, even with an extra ounce or two on top. Why an aluminum frame? Because plastic guns should be water pistols.
Hello. I bought a CZ75 Compact and a CZ75 P-01. Both have the plastic guide rod. It is getting pretty marred up and does not appear to be of good quality. I've ordered two SS guide rods for these fine guns and am wondering if I made the right move... Your opinion would be appreciated.
Both of mine have steel guide rods I installed. Both guns have over 1000 rounds and neither show any sign of early frame wear. I'd make sure you run at least a stock (or slightly heavier) recoil spring to slow down the slide before appropriately before it gets to the back of its travel. I run stock weight in both of mine and regularly shoot Winchester 124gr NATO at the range.
@@rjg02005 Yes, those NATO rounds are a little hot. I love 124 gr but am having a problem finding them. Hate to bug ya, but where did you find recoil springs for the CZs ? Thanks my man....
Very helpful thank you. You said you did some work to them…I keep being recommended to Cajun Gun Works. Did you get parts from them? Did upgrade yourself? I live in California and so I am limited with choices. After much research, I went with the PCR and the 75B. What should I replace/upgrade? I have read they are pretty good out of the box!
I mention a bunch of the parts I swapped out in the video. I did all the work myself. Not easy like swapping parts in a Glock, but no hand fitting required, so much easier than something like a 1911. My PCR has the fewest upgrades, and the P-01 has a pretty extensive list. If you're going to carry, I'd focus on keeping reliability high and not changing anything that changes too much of how hard or fast the firing pin hits the primer. CGW's website is a good place to check for that info.
CZ hasn't been consistent with their naming. For example: My 75D Compact is sometimes marked as "PCR" and my P-01 is sometimes marked as "75D Compact." There are also compact railed frames in steel, non-railed compact frames in DA/SA, and aluminum railed frames with the omega trigger... and I'm sure a few other permutations. I've had positive experiences with all of the CZs I've used.
I just wish they would change the stock sights. They are pretty much unusable for me if it is even slightly dimly lit. I can still use crappy Glock stock sights when dimly lit.
The hammer naturally rests (decocked) in a half-cocked position. From here, the hammer is prevented from going forward into the firing pin and the gun is in its double-action mode. Both my 75D and P01 have firing pin blocks that prevent it from hitting the primer. I consider both drop-safe with a loaded chamber. I would not manually lower the hammer to the fully-forward position with a round in the chamber. If you use the decocking lever, you'll never put the hammer there without pulling the trigger. I'll try to do a quick video tonight comparing the 75D to a CZ83.
I got the fiber on the P01 from Cajun Gun Works and installed myself. It's whatever the standard height is for the 75 sights. It's a perfect hold with the stock rear sight (bullet impact at the top edge of the front sight at 15 yards) with my target ammo. The PCR has a taller FS, I believe 6.5mm, and that impacts 1.5 inches low at 15yrds, which is about covering your intended target with the dot.
Got to admit mine is labeled 75d compact. It has a rail. I can’t find any difference between it and the p01. it’s perplexed me since I started seeing the p01 on the shelves. Seems maybe at some point they just relabeled the gun.
They don't seem to be very consistent in their marking. I've seen one that's a railed 75D that had a steel frame as well, as opposed to the aluminum framed P01. Oh well. They're great guns regardless.
They both shoot very well. If i had to pick one, the p01 is probably a hair softer. If you hang a light on the rail, the P01 is a clear winner in regards to muzzle flip. Ergos on both, especially the tang, make shooting quite comfortable on both.
Very Good Video on the CZ 75 Pistols! Wondering what was the cost of all of the parts for your CZ P-01. And, can you recommend a Holster Manufacturer that accommodates an accessory light on the rail? I Like these CZ'a! Thumbs Up!
The parts weren't cheap. I did the installation myself and it was around half-again the price of the gun. Honestly, it's not necessary to have a good gun. I'm currently using the PHLster Floodlight TLR-1 for carrying the P01. It's a pretty good holster, but pretty big. Check out JM Custom Kydex if you're looking for something more form-fit.
The roll pin that retains the firing pin is the only component that I've heard can become worn by dry fire. Snap caps should extend its life because they slow the firing pin down before it impacts the retaining pin.
@@Butch33 I use 124 and 147gr JHPs in mine. Haven't found a particular brand it prefers. I've not had serious issues in any of my CZs but the P-01 (bought new) was stiffer all around for the first 200-ish rounds and definitely smoothed out after a bit of use. Both handle +P pretty well if you choose to run them spicy, just make sure you test them for a point of impact shift compared to target ammo.
@rjg02005 I should be getting back home in a week and plan on starting the process. I will have to order the gun and can pick it up in about a week. The State Game Commission just built a beautiful new gun and archery range. The plan is to pick up the gun and go straight to the range I'm excited.
Mec gar sells 10rd mags that are dimpled versions of their 15rd mags. The cz 10rd mags are different and, IMO, less good than the mec gars. Not an easy mag to put a pin in though.
CZ makes 10 round magazines for these. If you buy one of these guns new in a magazine ban state, they will come with one from the factory. They’re not pinned. They have a plastic block that makes up the bottom inch or so of the mag. They are ugly, but they work fine.
Barrels are interchangeable. Slides are slightly different in the sights, PCR has the chamber loaded indicator, and P-01 has longer rails. Slides will function on each lower but won't match up cosmetically.
I've seen one report of this happening, but never seen it personally. I have steel rods in both guns. I've put around 2200 through the P01 (bought new) and put at least 500 through the PCR (bought used). No evidence of this issue on either. That said, if it happens, it'll start slow, so check every time the gun is apart and take out the steel guide rod if your frame starts to deform.
Got an unanswered question ive had for some time. Maybe u can help me out. I own a 75D compact marked as such but its not a pcr. It has the full length dust cover. Why is it labeled 75D compact and not P01? Older model? European designation?
I'm not sure the difference between what you mentioned and the P01, unless yours has a steel frame. CZ is seemingly inconsistent with their markings on these pistols.
@@ACDandMe yes the D means decocker. No it is not a pcr model. PCR doesnt have full length dust cover and rail. P01 model has dust cover and rail like mine. Mine is not marked P01. Just 75D compact
@@mannytut1378 CZ is really random sometimes as far as slide markings. It depends on where they planned to sell them, but then they go where they are needed. Manufacturing and shipping may not communicate well.
I've never experienced one breaking myself, but it's probably a good idea to change them every few thousand rounds (I have no clue what CZ recommends). It's not hard to replace, but it's a more involved job than replacing springs in something like a Glock.

For example: My 75D Compact is sometimes marked as "PCR" and my P-01 is sometimes marked as "75D Compact."
There are also compact railed frames in steel, non-railed compact frames in DA/SA, and aluminum railed frames with the omega trigger... and I'm sure a few other permutations. I've had positive experiences with all of the CZs I've used.
Does anyone know where to get those 14-round flat base magazines?
I just wish they would change the stock sights. They are pretty much unusable for me if it is even slightly dimly lit. I can still use crappy Glock stock sights when dimly lit.
Is a CZ75D compact drop safe with a loaded chamber and the hammer in the forward position??
The hammer naturally rests (decocked) in a half-cocked position. From here, the hammer is prevented from going forward into the firing pin and the gun is in its double-action mode.
Both my 75D and P01 have firing pin blocks that prevent it from hitting the primer. I consider both drop-safe with a loaded chamber.
I would not manually lower the hammer to the fully-forward position with a round in the chamber. If you use the decocking lever, you'll never put the hammer there without pulling the trigger.
I'll try to do a quick video tonight comparing the 75D to a CZ83.
Thanks, what kind of front FO sight is on the P01 and how does it sight with stock rears
Factory mag for my CZ75 D PCR HOLDS 15 RDS
Did enjoy the vid... Did you say which was softer shooting? PCR or the P01? Thanks for the time.
They both shoot very well. If i had to pick one, the p01 is probably a hair softer. If you hang a light on the rail, the P01 is a clear winner in regards to muzzle flip. Ergos on both, especially the tang, make shooting quite comfortable on both.
@@rjg02005 Thank you sir for the reply!
Yo what grips are on that po1?? I need those on my pcr!
If I use a snap cap while dry fire will it save the firing pin?
The roll pin that retains the firing pin is the only component that I've heard can become worn by dry fire. Snap caps should extend its life because they slow the firing pin down before it impacts the retaining pin.
I see some CZ75 d pcr with a shiny trigger. Hmmmmm?
What defensive ammo do you like in the p01?
Can you put a pin on those magazines to comply with 10 rounder states? If so is it easy to do
Mec gar sells 10rd mags that are dimpled versions of their 15rd mags.
Is there a water fall behind you!?
A furnace, actually; made worse by a junky microphone.
Are the slides and barrels interchangeable
Barrels are interchangeable. Slides are slightly different in the sights, PCR has the chamber loaded indicator, and P-01 has longer rails. Slides will function on each lower but won't match up cosmetically.
Why the grahms? Are we talking about pistols or snacks?
Oz is a terrible ststem to measure relatively small differences in weight.
do the steel guide rods damage your frame ? i have one i want to install
@@rjg02005 nope same aluminum alloy🤷
75D is PCR (Police Czech Republic)
D stands for Decocker
It’s exactly the same gun
@@ACDandMe yes the D means decocker. No it is not a pcr model. PCR doesnt have full length dust cover and rail. P01 model has dust cover and rail like mine. Mine is not marked P01. Just 75D compact
@@mannytut1378 CZ is really random sometimes as far as slide markings. It depends on where they planned to sell them, but then they go where they are needed. Manufacturing and shipping may not communicate well.
Has the Trigger return spring ever broke?
I've never experienced one breaking myself, but it's probably a good idea to change them every few thousand rounds (I have no clue what CZ recommends). It's not hard to replace, but it's a more involved job than replacing springs in something like a Glock.
@@rjg02005 Ya I have the Reduced power TRS from Cajun, & the firing pin roll pin, also the Crome trigger pin, I’ve only installed the Firing pin roll pin..
I just bought a 75D and the magazines are 15s…
Congrats on the new blaster! Good to hear the 15s are shipping to the states that can still have them.
Why would you ever put a beautiful piece like the CZ in a damn plastic holster & scratch the hell out of it ? I can see using it on the Glock cuz they're ugly as hell to begin with. Come on man, leather is the only way to go.
Haha. Yeah, I hear you. Both are beautiful guns, even with a bit of wear.
The 75 compact D was bought used and in okay condition, so I wasn't too worried about messing up the looks. I brought the P01 to a class back in '16 and it got its first scratch. It was a relief. Now they're both carried and shot as often as I can.
It's just a tool lol. I don't get people who hate scratches on a gun just saying lol.
Agree with both of you. Only leather, but it is a tool, holsters ware and scratches are okay. Gun maintenance is more important.
If you're worried about how your gun looks you're doing it wrong
Like the guns, the red bandana and the cat.have the same stuff& some fine guns but no CZ...yet.soon to change.like pcr but a light laser would be nice..ill figure it out..Holster suggestions?? OWB &IWB ..In that order.nignt signts& most likely bogies.👍& sub.take care.Thx
what grips are those on the p01?
Vz grips, the frag pattern.
Might wanna try "starboard side" rather than "passenger side". Just sayin'
I used to row, so I mess up port and starboard all the time. Probably something to do with always looking aft. That said, I'll try to use terminology that's more universal in the future.
@@rjg02005 no offense. I enjoy your podcasts
I like your cat
You did. not review the P-01. You only reviewed the 75D Compact WTF?
Just trying to compare and contrast the two guns. There are a bunch of good reviews out there on the P-01 already.
Where did you find the orange and black grips?
Amazon. "Cool grips - royal color". About 1/2 as expensive as the VZ. They don't feel quite as good as the VZs (p-01) but that's subjective and not a deal breaker for me.
So are we just going to ignore that this dude has a chinchilla..?
2.
Lol
Suwhoop!!!! Jp nice video 😝
🇮🇱👍❤️👌💋🇮🇱
Hello to CZ-CAT-01 LOL
I hate Glock.
The chinchilla…🤣
CZ 75 D PCR HAS REALLY BAD SIGHTS. CZ SHOULD PUT DECENT SIGHTS FROM THE FACTORY....CHEAP BS
i bet hes got a boyfriend this one, armed lgbtq, cant get anymore dangerous than that, hes a fairy
??
My CZ 75 D is simple an amazing CCW Carry. Dependable like clockwork. Just needed some new TFX bright sights and I’m good to go. I love metal pistols. SEMPER FI. 🇺🇸👊🫡
