- This time at the Quick Speed Shop I'm installing the Magnum 5.9L, NP435, and NP208 into my 1980 Dodge W200 project. First there is a little header bashing, then some transmission fighting. Finally, it's all bolted up and ready for some paint. This is a 1980 Dodge W200, sitting on a 1975 W200 frame, with a 4 inch Rough Country lift, Dana 44 front axle, Ford E350 Dana 60 rear with a 2000 Magnum 5.9L.

Spent a lot of time trying to get my bellhousing off, never thought it wouldn't clear the flywheel... this video saved me from a lot more headache lol thanks for the vid!
👍
Now that is a REAL custom truck!! Nip it here, drill it there and everything will fit!!!! Good job!
I think its going to be cool!
great video, i gotta come over and see the truck sometime!
Come on over!
Drive train looks sweet! Getting exciting now!!
I know. Can't wait to put the body back on!
Thanks for sharing, Josh! I think the frame looks most excellent! Your attention to detail makes my OCD very happy! (smile)
That truck is going to be an absolute BEAST! Enjoy! Be safe! Bro Harry
Uh oh Harry. Wait until I put the junky body back on the mint chassis! 😅
Ahhh shiny, the drivetrain looks nice all painted up sitting in the frame. Josh, ready for the next video on your truck build.
I think I'm running the fuel and brake lines in the next one.
Takes extra time to beautify all those unseen parts but it’s worth it. When you crawl around underneath you feel pretty good about it. I always think,”why is this taking so long?” Even the simple jobs take longer when you clean and refinish. 👍
Yeah, especially when I started with a pile of parts that was so rough to begin with. I'm not good at building show cars, but at least they look presentable for a little while when first built. 😅
@@QuickSpeedShop you do well and have super skills. Your channel show things that go and things that don’t go. That’s more real. Lots of things don’t go as planned on a project. Stay honest in your videos. I as well as others appreciate that.
Real world, low buck builds here as always...until that O'Reillys sponsorship comes in! 😅
Just installed my np435 in the 1978 D 300 and had to grind my bellhousing so I could just slide the bell rite on in one c shot like a glove....
@17:00 and that was how the Dakota was born.
Do you remember what is the flywheel ? Or any part number ? I'm doing the same build !
Did you not have to trim the input shaft to fit in the back of the magnum crank?
No
anyone know where i can buy the bottom cover for the bell housing and the backing plate? thanks for any leads @quick speed shop
So if you ever have to change the clutch, you have to pull the cab?
No, you can unbolt the clutch through the bellhousing and drop it out the bottom. I just ground the bell so I could install it after the flywheel was on.
Very cool combo. What bellhousing did you source to mate a '96-'01 Magnum to 70's Dodge NP435 4spd transmission ?
It's the same bellhousing the truck used stock. The Magnum has the same bolt pattern as the LA engine.
@@QuickSpeedShop excellent. and input shaft/clutch to mate to the NP435?
Stock 1980 clutch and pressure plate.
Cutting the slots into the side of the bellhousing is great and all, but you had to lift and slide it down to install. Heaven forbid the clutch grenades, and you have to replace it. Won't the cab of the truck kinda get in the way?
Oh!!! Have a Gennie Cream for me! 🍺
I don't know if it would hit or not. I can always pull the engine out with the tranny attached if need be. I just didn't want to fight with it this time while the truck was apart.
Don't forget that Gennie Cream Ale for me. (Grew up in Buffalo, family in Rochester)
Something else to deal with when installing a lift kit. Steep angles at the U-joints and
yes less engagement at the yoke. Strange that the header had clearance on the drivers
side but was hitting the frame on the passenger side. I know Ford engines are offset a bit.
Perhaps Dodge does or did the same thing
It probably is offset some. My Ford Econoline E150 the engine is offset something like 3 or 4 inches to the passenger side.
get the right headers!
Nope, using these.
I ground my bell housing so i can pull the engine without pulling the trans.
Yeah, I don't know what Dodge was thinking!
Do you remember what is the flywheel ? Or any part number ? I'm doing the same build !
I don't know the part number off the top of my head. Check out magnumswap.com. They have good info there
