Full Build: Restoring A Classic Bronco With A Modern Twist

- Опубликовано: 20 июл 2024
- With all the hype surrounding the Bronco’s revival by Ford, Music City Trucks felt it was the ideal time to honor its heritage by building a classic of their own. With Sea Foam as a sponsor, the 1974 Bronco will undergo extensive upgrades to restore the truck and take a modern approach on a classic rig.
The objective is to overhaul the Sea Foam Bronco from the ground up and rebuild it all by adding an array of new parts. The upgrades include a new chassis from Throttle Down Kustoms, supercharged Edelbrock Coyote crate engine, transfer case, axles, James Duff suspension, fuel system, sheet metal from Dennis Carpenter, and overhaul the interior with custom parts from TMI.
This Beach Cruiser Bronco is bound to turn heads as it cruises effortlessly down the street with its entirely updated undercarriage and body transformation. It will be a piece of restored history that lives on inspiring others to build projects to replicate its success.

These videos are like therapy for some reason, they always make me feel better; I guess it's because I grew up with powerblock TV and this shit feels like "home"
I can’t begin to tell everyone what a great cause this is. There is so many veterans and first responders living on the streets. I don’t believe people realize what they are going through. Some of them with their entire family, even little kids, are living on the street. If there is any charity worth giving to, this is one of the top.
It started so long ago, I can't remember..............think back to when you started constantly being asked if you are Hispanic, that's where all the charity is going. Wow, I sound racist.
Can it really be called a restoration if you got all new stuff? I’m just wondering what the point of pulling apart the other one was 😅
Y’all should get the other one and use it as a “build on a budget” off-road rig.
I really enjoy these full build videos, keep them coming!
I was wondering about that too where is the bronco from the start it needs 40s
I think the scope just crept out of control so the body and chassis were no longer used.
I agree. I think the term restoration was used very liberally and is kind of misleading. It's a real shame to see how little of the "original" Bronco was actually used in the new build. I think the vehicle turned out amazing nonetheless and was auctioned off for a very good cause. But again, sad to see how little was actually "restored" not replaced.
Especially pretending the original body was "to far gone" to use. It's just so they can try to sell sponsor spots.
exactly body was bad but it wasn't any worse than a full resto truck tats 50 yaers old
Very impressive-although restoration seems a stretch when they basically built an all new truck.
Yep, as usual they buy a vehicle and throw it away then build a new vehicle from parts...
This is the most amazing thing I've watched happen on RUclips and am otherwise speechless. The professionalism of POWERNATION's teams, production crews, and overall presentation has no peers.
this is the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. haters gon' hate. well done, and for an amazing cause. I wish we could've seen it run and drive though
My first vehicle was my parent's 1983 Bronco that they purchased new. I was given it when I turned 16 in '92. Loved that truck with it's lethargic 351 WIndsor.
This isn't a restoration anymore, this is a 1 of a kind hand built truck from the ground up
I used to watch these shows with my father when i wae a teenager. You get one episode on a Sunday and had to wait a week for the next. Always missing one or so lol.
I wish he was still alive to witness the entire series with no commercials lol.
I was thinking the same thing. I loved a Sunday sitting on the couch with my dad watching the power block. He passed in 2020, wish he was still here we could sit and watch all the episodes for one build in one sitting.

I'm not even a car person, but I love this build, and i think someone will really enjoy this for many years to come.....
The paint and body guys are studs.
That's a killer job they did.
Gotta say though, this isn't a restoration, it's still incredible, but it's a full kit built at this point.
It's not "Restoring a classic Bronco with a modern twist" it's "Building a modern Bronco with a classic twist".
You’ve brought tears of joy to this veteran, thank you and all the people involved in this build… it turned out beyond beautiful
I remember the international scout I had one with the 345 V8, 390 lockers front(!)and rear, and that Granny low gear 4 speed. I love that truck. Lima bean green, I remember I took the roof off and the doors wouldn't open and close no more, LOL. Nothing could beat that thing in the mud with that front Locker. I never saw nothing like it you couldn't turn the truck at all not even in the mud, it was almost impossible to steer when the front was locked. But it would go through shit that my buddies trucks on 38th couldn't even touch, and I was on some old ass white wall tires!!! I won so many Bets with that truck in the woods, I miss that thing. Best truck ever. 🚜💯💯💯💯💯
Scouts are the greatest!
I totally agree 💯💯 with you on their idea at the beginning of the show! I have my '65 Scout 80 with 304, 700r4 and dana 300, 3.73, skyjacker 2" SUA reverse shackle, 33"s, p/s, hydro boost. Solid truck. I never cared this much about the exterior panels, just the meat, and potatoes for camping, road trips, and trail rides.🛻🏕🔥
We had one affectionately named "the party scout" it could scout out any party at any remote location and never failed to get our loaded asses out of the woods. It was fun to be young and dumb for a while. Happy we survived it.
That thing look's like it came out of a factory. Nice!
Brings back memories. I used to hang doors and fenders at GM. 1 every 53 seconds. SUCKED!!
I love the Coyote motor, and I'm glad they kept with Ford. That being said, you can see why LS motors are a popular swap for Broncos and Jeeps. The coyote's dual overhead cams take up a lot of real estate. You can get similar supercharged horsepower out of an LS, with more torque. And they likely wouldn't have had to slice anything to make one fit.
I have a 66 ad of this Torquise Bronco and someday I'd love to have one. I wouldn't mind an international scout sitting next to it too. There great offroaders.
I thought it looked cooler than after the restoration tbh
FANTASTIC Guys. What a great example for teamwork. I live in the UK. This was the best vehicle build on RUclips. It is just amazing.
I never served in the military. I survived drug addiction and homelessness without any support. I have PTSD too. People who never served in the military suffer PTSD and mental illness too. I totally appreciate what you are doing for folks with mental illness. Have a great day.
luv those early broncos
I’m so glad you donated the money to a great cause
I hope you get a new frame too to so you can put the old one back together.
I intended to break this one up thirty or so minutes a sitting .. yet here I am two hours in and cant stop watching.. I was miffed at getting rid of the old and not fixing it.. but time and trouble put a kabosh on that so I get it.. man what a joy to watch so far.. I takes a village and you have lots of good folks in that village. Well done.. so far.. lol
I am grateful for the step by step explanations. Thank you. I don't know much about suspension components
There's alot to learn, but everyone has to start somewhere :)
I'm sat here still waiting for this "Restoration" you mentioned in the title to this . . . .
A modern Bronco interior would have been very cool on this build, giving it a modern interior with the modern exterior. They went the right direction with the engine option without a doubt. It’s what ford should have offered in the new Bronco. I would also utilized a Marine grade boat deck flooring by SeaDek with the custom logos and Bronco logos added to them for the flooring.
I’m curious though! If they went this far to make everything so nice, why didn’t they loom all the wire under the dash and under the body? Why didn’t they utilize LED lights? Especially if they keep calling it modern!
God bless all of you guys for all your hard donated work.
I would have killed to have the actual bronco at the beginning…
Nice job!! Should have upgraded the lighting along with all the new goodies.
Much Respect and thank you for your service
im so happy this show is still going! i touight the only episodes that are here in youtube were old ones.
Wanna see an International Scout II BUT, keep it a simple BEAST!
Restoration portion consists of riveting on vin plate.
More like building one than restoring.
Damn if OJ would have had this bronco he would have definitely gotten away
really sweet project and for a fabulous cause
Man great videos I love Alfas and have owned 3 105’s. I wish I had another but they are pretty rare and really expensive in Oz. Also most of them have been restored now. So I am living vicariously through your channel thanks
Awesome, great show and great old Ford 😀 👏
That dash looked awesome except for that big run in the middle of it.
It's obvious Steven is a man of very few words!
That Bronco is getting better looking piece by piece 👍
Currently on #3 ,a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ . Very happy with all aspects including the dealership believe it or not. Always early second owner under 7k miles. Save up , then wait for the phone to ring.
WOW, If I didn't know better the Toyota at 3:17:51 is mine. Other that the lift that was what I bought and drove for years
Sweet! 42 million dollar's worth of equipment to do a couple thousand dollar job.
Love your sarcasm. I feel exactly the same way. I'll give only one example as there are so many more examples to give: Near the end of the Video at SEMA, the Directing Manager from Sonax stating that his company put in 250 man hours for the polishing of the paint on the Bronco. This is an astonishing amount of material and labor invested and is likely one of the smallest contributions. I'm sure that everyone and all the companies contributing to this Bronco did it for charitable reasons. A.K.A.: All parts, materials and labor were likely donated. We all know that it was for a good cause and I don't want to seem too antagonistic... Yet, it all seems like such a waste considering that $135,000.00 final bid. And at the same time, I feel like $135,000.00 was way too much for this Bronco.
Next time they try to do a good deed, they need to set up a fund raiser. The fund raiser would better serve the charitable purpose without the extreme waste.
lol a couple thousand bucks for what exactly ??? the paint material cost more than that , labor would be another 5-7 grand for body and paint , there's 20-25 grand in body panels, 30 grand in drive train , 20-25 in chassis and axles another ten in suspension... never mind all the other little stuff probably adds up to another twenty ... then labor for all the other work , fitting the engine building the suspension interior etc etc etc ... so which part do you think would've only cost a couple grand ??? the wheels and tires??
I love this guys. Make a new bronco from new parts. That is bad too the bone. The spot welder is the bomb.
Yes! Finally a full build for Project Crazyhorse!
i can't believe you put that dash in the truck with that big giant run in the paint!!
wow i saw that too, no way they let that slide
Such a cool build.
Man my favorite truck ever built!
Quite Epic…what a beautiful Bronco Love it🦾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Men AT Work. Thank You.
It's great to see what life with unlimited money would look like
Awesome !!!
My step dad had the 1st Gen for hunting here in Louisiana I’ll never forget one he snap the axle out on pipeline boy I was like 5 or 6 crazy yrs
Was a awesome build
This was a great watch!! Thank you!!
The best 2022 bronco made.
Nice build, and I’m a Chevy guy! LOL I love these old trucks that started the SUV trend. I’m a car collector and one of mine is a 85 K5 Blazer.
Gotta love the egro-nomics on that car-o-liner
Beautiful looking truck, guys. Congratulations on a wonderful build.
Great video, and these boys did some darn fine work! I wish they would address the elephant in the room on what became of the original 74 Bronco…basically they used the door latches and glove box…a shame they tore down a running, driving Bronco
Exactly. Because of the cost of finding an old Bronco and restoring I looked at doing this exact same thing. Down side is you miss out on restoring a piece of history and end up with a kit car. I am not sure how they can still call this a 74 Bronco. If that is the case then anyone could look for a completely destroyed Bronco and just buy the title from someone.
@@trirunner2520 That's about how it goes these days. Everything I see for sale under $10K, and often even $20 or $30K is no better than what these guys started with. For a looong time already there has been a market for Bronco titles & vin/glovebox door tags, ideally with the frame too. I took a consignment from one of the more famous Bronco builders this past summer and when I inquired about getting a title and vin tag for a project Bronco I was considering building from the ground up with a new frame, the guy said no problem we've got plenty of those.
2:23:00 look at those runs on the dash! 🙈
I totally understand the advantages and desirability of that +700 hp engine. That said, after seeing how complicated it is and how it had to be shoe-horned into place, I'd sacrifice 400hp for a simple 300hp pushrod 302 V8. Just my $.02 Cents.
Agreed 700hp is overkill
I prefer higher torque too , 700 hp is mega overkill for an offroad - suv class car
My first thought was that that was unnecessary.
It's a utility vehicle that you buy to drive in the mountains, and will go down dirt roads.
The stance, high and short wheelbase, is all wrong for that kind of power.
@@charlesvan13 100% agree.
@@hkguitar1984
They're building a hotrod, rather than an SUV.
If you're going to take it into the wilderness you'll care that it's reliable, and has a good range on a tank.
My ct9080 says made in the usa right on the tool... thats why i dont mind paying more. Ive had mine for 4 years and it's been perfect. Everytime i use it you can tell its made better, its just solid.
Thanks!
What a finish on this very very fine build. Well done boys and crew!
Magically
Great to see. I had 3. 69, 71, 72. Built one with a 289 high perf from a Fairlane. A real sleeper in its day. I think it was probably the best truck I ever owned and the very best of Ford.
Stunning build. At 135k selling price... honestly with how expensive stuff is these days it's not that bad for all the work and man hours put into it. Probably 35k above an oem build of lesser quality and part strength.
What a ride.
Should be how we built a bronco from scratch 😁 still interesting
My dad bought an International Scout a couple of years before the Bronco came out. I was a small child and remember it fondly. He was a Ford guy and ever since wanted the Bronco. He finally got his Bronco when he bought a slightly used 1978 full size. In between he had a Chevy pickup. He owned the full size Ranger model Bronco for only a couple of years, it's not-so-good MPG and his daily commute made him sell it for a small four-cylinder diesel pickup which was new for the era. He drove that until it rusted into the ground after he retired and quit driving daily. I got the 4x4 bug and have owned a 86 Bronco2, which I still miss, two CJ Jeeps and a rusty 74 Bronco that I traded for a 94 Ranger pickup because marriage, kids, MPG/long commute, etc. I never realized just how much I repeated his vehicle ownership path.
My first truck, was a 76, Scout. I miss it.
My
Yes, you won a prize!
it so long to read 😂 please summarize it😅😂
@@brandonbowdoinandfamily895 My 1st was 78 International Scout. Worked on it a couple years and that was my 1st daily driver, amazing 4x4 capability and that 345 ran like butter, I will never forget her.
I love these 3 hour builds. How's the VIN work for that though? Is it tranferrable in the US?
I'd like to know that aswell. But then again, in the US there could be an exceptional rule for one off builds?
rebodied vehicles are legal though kinda problematic
@@SuperGreyknight So how is the problem with the VIN solved then?
@@DomEngines In some states, you can transfer VINs to different bodies. Depends on if it passes safety inspection, some states don't allow it at all.
you can't transfer vin on any car ever !!!! when you build something like this you get a new vin from the secretary of state or dmv in your state , sometimes it's listed as a custom hot rod and sometimes you can list it as what you intended it to be , ie; a 74 ford bronco
Can't blame them for building a new body. The time and labor saving a rotted out tub was saved
The best part about this is when Marc stops talking!
Was a awesome build 😀👍🏻👍🏽
Wow Brandon has barely aged a day since he was in warriors
My dad had a Red and white sport with chrome, 32's, roll bars, push button start, locking hubs. We ran that all over the Oregon coast. Think it was a 69. Would love to have one like it.
Sounds excellent, mostly because you’ve honoured your dads memory (and maybe teed into yours?) with your post. Remembering times with my kids and grandchildren Trump everything other than meeting my wife and owning motorcycles of the golden era (1970s Japanese: they were the essential backdrop to the punk & new wave revolution we enjoyed).
Sounds like a great vehicle & parent too? :)
@@GT380man esdsfsssssssssssssssssssss
Congrats on 100 episodes dude! This one was awesome! Great burnouts 🤙🏽
I understand where you guys went with this build simply because of scope and time, it would still be great to see the original tub and chassis saved and back in the original ginger bronze colour. Unless it already went to scrap last year.
I loved the number one requirement of overhead cams. That would be at the top of my list as well.
Pretty cool replica
Gorgeous built from the ground up, I couldn't bring myself to part with it, I'd be afraid to put a mile on it to drive it!!! I might have to put it on a Dyno to test the horse power?
Would a 90s T-Bird radiator really be adequate for an 800hp crate motor? I seem to remember those cars having overheating issues with their stock engines (same as the Lincoln LS), I can’t imagine not using a custom aluminum radiator when you’ve basically been given a blank check for the build. Same with the brakes, first generation Explorer brakes? Throw some big four or six piston mono-block calipers on there and fit the rims to the rotors.
Do a hat with ondgas sauce and Shelby sauce to 🥶🔥
Just beautiful 😊
Dudes bought a 1974 Ford Bronco to rebuild and proceed to throw every part away and buy it new 😂
Just needed the Vin to make street legal
@@mudlovr well, this is the best and only explanation I've gotten so far, so you win 🥳😄👍
Hope you do not have the problem I had with a 72 Bronco. Swapped in a 351windsor. No problems until. I started doing low speed crawling. Would overheat and vapor lock. Finally figured out the small engine compartment. Was holding too much heat and fan could not push it out. Installed a couple of vents in the hood and cowl induction scoop. Which solved problem.
so pretty much it was your fault why it was over heating i see now
@@funtyes1970 Heh. Nice sarcasm. Yet it is possible that the new owner may experience similar troubles. Hopefully the new owner either reads Mike's comment or comes to the same conclusion/solution in adding vents/induction to aid in dissipating the heat.
@mike noneya Passing on personal experience and educating others is always a bonus. Well done.
Nice freakin’ job guys!!! 👍👍👍WOW 😳😎. So cool! Man I wish that I had the cash to buy her and give her a good home. After retiring a couple of years ago from 35 years of long haul trucking that would be my fun vehicle and the osteoarthritis and health issues be damned. Well done gentlemen to all who had a part. You can take pride in that build. Suuweeeeet! 👍🤗
Good morning buddy I hope you have a good day buddy buddy I
Your build is better than 2024 ford bronco 😮
This is my most desired car you ever Billy ❤❤❤
I 100% feel you brother I’m going thru something similar with my build it’s a 13 ss and I have went thru 4 suspension setups. I had a question about you striker setup how is it on day drive what upgrades did you have to do to the transmission and what stall are you running?
Cool video, I find it hilarious that they kept basically nothing off of the original truck. They could have honestly just built a new one from scratch. I'd love to see them put as much of the old one back together as possible and see if it could still run.
The things that are possible with an unlimited budget and every tool ever made plus parts that are unavailable to the average person
Restoring.... Totally new car from ground to top.
This is not "Restoring A Classic Bronco". This is "Building the world's most expensive and least valuable 1974 Bronco from scratch".
Ikr new frame and body 😂
I totally agree bro!! this bronco is made in China. I didn't see one part from the original truck go on this so called bronco. Who ever buys this thing from the auction has to much money to pay for a fake bronco and whatever they pay for it is too much!!! This will be the last video I watch from this channel.
@@da1bearsfandude no one cares just shut up
Looking at the websites it’s also close to $100k for just the body and frame smh
Complan much
I preferred it with the sponsors graphics on it, looks kinda plain when it rolled through the auction it was just missing that little sparkle ✨
Y'all produced one incredible Bronco 👏.
More importantly THANK Y'ALL for where the proceeds went! I don't know that y'all will ever be able to understand what a difference that money makes!!
Thank you to all the sponsors!! ❤️🤍💙
