Really, really beautiful restoration, Dude! Nice job. Your playing is pretty damn good too! Been on TAMA for years, love them. Also, I've always contended that if you have two bass pedals you better have two bass drums.😎🎼🥁👍
Beautiful restoration and kickass drumming! A nice trip down memory lane with the iron cobras and the Zildjian Platinum crash. Zildjian discontinued the Platinum series because production was too harmful to the environment, I believe.
Dave also played an artstar set up , for me the art, granstar series were the perfect kit for 80s and early 90s thrash and death metal, i still prefer power toms .
If you use hardwood dowels of the same variety as the shell and you drive them in so the woodgrain is aligned for acoustic continuity and if you use a plug-bit to patch the top and bottom layers, you can create a near flawless finish that will up your resale value considerably. Doing hard work is great, but doing great work ain’t hard.
They were Birch dowels - same as the shell. They will never match perfect being on end grain. As for acoustic continuity, a solid plug against a ply shell will never be the same…. to the human ear anyway. Resale value… didn’t make a blind bit of difference.
Great job on the drums and the playing! But you don't really care about the cymbals? I am nuts about the cymbals I want, use and set up! I've never heard that before? At least you have a good amount?
Looks lopsided. Why this fad of not mounting the toms to the bass drums, and yes, I said tomS, plural. Two directly mounted toms per bass drum. Just like the old school white set Lars used on The Black Album. Should be federal law.
Another federal law should be that this thrash, 500 bpm noise should be outlawed. Slayer, Testament, Anthrax, Pantera, and Poison should be banned. Death Metal and its ridiculous "vocals" are top if the list. Dio, Ratt, Maiden, Dokken, Quiet Riot, Ozzy, White Snake, Skid Row, Telsa, Great White, Vixen, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, and Journey, etc., are all acceptable performance ootions.
Much respect to a drummer that not only plays but also restores and builds. Nice work.
Very kind of you.

@@aboutthemetal8783 they are already sold I am afraid
Dear uploader, I just would like ask what’s the song at the beginning?
Thanks for your answer.
Anyways it’s epic video👍🤝
@@albertszaniszlo1402 ‘Happy Accidents’ by my old band called ‘RTC’. The songs are available on Soundcloud I believe.
Beautiful kit and killer sound in that warehouse. You even got the extra beefy early 90s hardware with the counter weights!
I didn’t think it was anatomically possible but you un-popped the cherry on those bass drums. Beautiful kit!
Awesome playing! I had a big kit like that back in the '80s.
I bought a brand new set of Granstar Customs in the late 80’s - my first quality kit. This brings back such nostalgia! Love the stilt stands too.
Great work on the kit, just beautiful. I still have my MK2 Granstar in Gun Metal Gray, those kits were awesome.
Thank you 👍
Great video and it's so awesome how you break down and explain what you are doing.
Love to see some great hard rock chops. Love the kit and playing.
What a the song at the beginning? It’s EPIC!

Those Z Custom crashes sound really good! Cool project and beautiful kit.
compliments on the work done, your tuning of the kit, and the amazing Z cymbals. That on top of the playing.

Kalem what a killer kit💪
I loved when Charlie Benante had that similar tom config - 2 over the hats and 2 up front.
Awesome. Looks amazing
Man! Look at the size of that old Tama hardware. Those are some beefy booms!

Gran trabajo de restauración consulta que tipo de tratamiento le diste a la madera? Me refiero al líquido que aplicó es un tipo de aceite?
Thank you. Yes it is Teak oil 👍
@@KLB1080 ok gracias por responder
Good work my guess an Essex man
Thank you. Sunny St.Neots 👍
Nice playing. Love the Tama kits!. What Headphones are you using to play with as loooking to upgrade.
Thank you. They came with my Focusrite Scarlett interface…. They are far from comfy and heavy but it is all have with the current set up.
I had a set of black ImperialStars in a similar configuration back in the 80's - wish I never sold them! ☹
Teak Oil is serious stuff!
was the Granstar basically a wrapped Superstar?
Essentially yes. Same shell construction but different hardware.

All my husband plays and ever played is Tama.
Do you think these sizes are appropriate for the South of Heaven era? Trying to build a replica but cannot find specs that I trust!

Long live to Granstar drums. By the way , are you in UK?
I am yes. Not far from Cambridge 👍
How did drums get that big? Ridiculous. Sure it’s good fun.

What china cymbal do you use

Good job🫡
Why does that Z crash on the right sound so awful?
The Z's were a line of super heavy cymbals, thus giving it its honky, bell like tone when crashed.
Autolike 🤘

Hmmm. Definitely kudos to even attempt that song.
