Damm! My first kit back in the early 80s was a swingstar, misty chrome black T badges dbl bass 4 up 2 down way to much for a beginner but I loved that set I played it in every configuration I could think of because I had enough drums to do so, I eventually got rid of it and went to an artstar and so on and so on, man I miss those drums and often look for them hoping maybe I'll find them and buy them back, simply solid I say.✊️😑👍
Nice!! I got a new kit just like this back in '84. And I have a similar kit now too as a rehersal kit. Just noticed that you put the tom mount backwards though.... 😏
Is that your dad's kit? Awesome. Not a Tama guy (I'm Team Ludwig 😅) but it feels good to restore a Swingstar considering that this year is the 50th anniversary of the Tama Drums brand.
Thank you! Your feedback means a lot. Check out my latest video for more and let me know what you think! :) ruclips.net/video/n44HPmA5ZwM/видео.htmlfeature=shared
What was the cymbal cleaning salutation because that ate up the dirt pretty nicely 👌, I have a 1980's Japanese Swingstar Red Badge 12x8 racl Tom and a Japanese 1995 Tama Rockstar 👍
Hey! I used a combination of vinegar and dawn dish soap to start as a degreaser! then I used a brass cleaner for tarnish, & finally a car polish and shine for buffing 😎
Absolutely! To start I used a degreaser to break down the grime (I usually use a combination of vinegar and dawn dish soap), then I used a brass cleaner for tarnish, & finally a car polish and shine for buffing. I posted a new video today restoring a Zildjian ride cymbal with a new cymbal polish! Check it out and let me know what you think :)
@@Reverbishment With the amount of drums i refurbish this seems like an awesome investment! I actually have a Harbor Freight near me. You use it on all metal parts on your drums? Also how long does it take once you've put parts in?
At first thought ol' Dad was going to tear into some Motorbreath
🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻
Nothing more satisfying than watching someone restore a classic!
Here’s a new restoration classic for more! This one’s a Zildjian Ride cymbal

That Red Badge sounds so sweet! I bet the toms on it sound like thunder! 😎
Can you list the products you used during cymbal cleaning? Amazing job.

Can you name some of the cleaning products you use
What was the powder you put inside of the ultrasonic cleaner?
What was the machine used to oxidize hardware?
@@montearnstam6827 it is a Central Machinery Ultrasonic Cleaner from Harbor Freight! :) love it a bunch! So many use cases for it

Your dad needs to unbutton one more shirt button and have some chest hair poking out, to be authentic to the 80s
