I had a ddrum double bass kit that I had to remove the wrap with a heat gun! Glue were wrap connected and around both lugs area and all around the kit! It was a pain! Like watching your channel
I'm a bass player and i srumbled into an identical set this weekend, ooherent serial numbers, 3 Zildjian crashes and high hats, a wood 22 for double bass with ròtotomz. Thank you for.the fine video. I got lots of work to do but I have your video as.a.guide.
Awesome video man. I’m new to the drum restoration world, but I’ve done 3 kits now and I’m starting to learn the tricks. This kick drum looks great and sounds so warm. Nice work brother!
Yeah, this was a nice score. Good luck with your future projects, and hopefully some of the content on my channel can help save you some of the time learning some of the techniques or processes used.
Well done, Mike. Your patience, which leads you to pay close attention to detail, is to be commended, as I, on the other hand, have a tendency to be a tad bit impatient.
I actually struggle with patience on these sorts of things as well, but the more you do it, the easier it gets to temper expectations and be ok with taking your time.
Cool project!!! I do projects myself from time to time. It does take patience!! Lol. That's something I learned the hard way, as I have anxiety, but also have o c d!! Go figure. Lol. The biggest issue I've had was trying to sell the drum projects once they're done. Either the retail chains won't buy it because they are customized, or you can't get what you want for them.
I didn't consider wrapping this drum specifically, because my original plan was to stain the wood, but after the unfortunate peeling of the outer veneer, I had to quick pivot. A wrap would be much easier to cover up that poor surface, but didn't feel like investing too much into this project. PS - I also have loved your videos and channels for a long long time! Excited that you reached out on my channel.
Great work as always mike. Although I’m not a fan of the grey it sure does look good and it shouldn’t be too hard to find some b/o Tom’s. One question tho. Do you regret getting rid of the wmp kit? Come up of the here on that kit. Also it’s me bassanddrun84 from dfo
Yeah, I wish I would have gone with something more colorful, but I actually sold this drum shortly after, and the buyer refinished it to match some of his drums, so life goes on. No regrets on selling the WMP kit. Not really sizes I enjoy, and sometimes I enjoy the project of working on drums more than keeping them longterm and using them.
I’ll trade you the t-rodds for my modern tension rodds ;-). I’m playing the Ludwig Classic maple FAB. Sweet video dude, loving these kinds of content ✌🏻
I already sold the drum, but I’m sure if I was feelin it, I could have just pieced everything out into pieces and made a killing for those people looking for specific parts.
Hey Mike, I saw at 7:03 that you ordered an air vent for your bassdrum. I don’t know where you ordered this airvent, but I always buy the same air vents at Wish for around $1,- a piece. You can buy them in packages of 10, 20 and 50. Maybe this can help you in the future :)
I’m now watching a second video as I want to refinish my drum set. Just subscribed to your channel.
Enjoy

I love that snare tone in the play demo 👌
Hard to beat a Supra!

Great job looks great. I would do it in silver sparkle.I’m a Ludwig fan 🥁
If I was willing to pay for a wrap, silver sparkle would have been up on the list!
That inlay was a good choice!
Agreed, there’s seem to be a few inlay colors that can match well with any finish on a shell.

Excellent! Thanks for the samples.
My pleasure!

You got the real "sneak peak". Delayed video release schedule.

Thanks a lot!
Another great video Mike!
Thanks Andrew!

Yeah, the aftermarket doesn’t always value the work you do as much as you do. Good luck with your future projects!
Love your content bro keep it coming
Thanks!
the bass drum looks nice
Thanks, I also dug it. Ended up selling it and the person who bought it refinished it again...
Great Video and good sounding Bass Drum. Ever thought about a silver sparkle wrap?

@@malonedrum I hear ya!!! I love working on kits. Love your build outs. What’s coming up in the future?
@@dye182 Can't spoil anything, but a few builds/restorations in the pipeline.
Ooohhhhh very cool
Thanks!
Great video. I am restoring my original Ludwig drum set from 1966. Where can I get the inlaid strips for the bass drum?
I would try Precision Drum Co.
GREAT JOB BROTHER
Thanks!

Nice job.
Thanks!
I would have just used professional strength goof off and taken the red off.
Yeah, I wonder how that goof off might have reacted to the wrap material?
Cool Mike.
Thanks!
Hey Mike, I really enjoyed this video. What's the song name in the background of the video?
It’s just a drumless track from a library I buy from. I can’t remember the name of the track, but the link to the tracks are in the bio of the video

I answered your comment by sending the link, but I see my comment got removed. Do you have Instagram? I can send you the link there 😁

Mike, is the WD-40 with the hardware cleaning a great method? Is it something you can rely on without a doubt?
It’s served me well, but you can certainly try a variety of other methods as well.
for free nice job.
Certainly!
What paint did you use on the bass hoops? They look great!
Honestly just a hi gloss black spray paint.
What ste the measurments for the decal
I’m not sure. I’m sure a real Ludwig collector would know.
Damn, what’s that cymbal??😮 the ride, I mean.
Bosphorus 20” Syncopation Ride
@@campusman1957 yeah, I wasn’t convinced I needed new cymbals, but once you went into all caps, I knew my cymbals were total trash. Thanks!
I didn't see you remove the badge is this right?
I did remove the badge, must have just not had footage or skipped it in the video. I just use a countersink bit to remove it.
After 6 minutes I had to shut off the sound.
Thanks for watching the whole thing then.
