    So whilst I'm listening alongside the park, a blind man struggling with the pathways. I got out & asked if I could help. He said he's transitioning from a guide dog to a cane and was remapping the park layout in his brain. I guided him onto the main path and on he went, tapping the railings etc. Wow. Made me think about the messages we can send. Our brains are phenomenal. Good deed done and I felt better for doing it and some of my sensations lowered.

    This is fantastic and a great reminder. I was one of those people who read the book and everything just changed. Not immediately, but gradually. I love lifting weights and can remember, after I was well along on recovery, when I was doing heavy shrugs with my work out partner at the time. I had the familiar stabbing pain in my back that would have stopped me for weeks or months. I talked to myself, the part of me that made the pain happen and I said ' Im going to do another set and you can do whatever you want.....if you want to keep up this pain thing, then do that, but I will do what I want to do, its your problem and not mine'. The pain stuck around for another hour or so, but by the afternoon it was gone. As with all successes, I marked it, I told myself I would never forget.

      What someone else thinks is causing your pain is not really relevant to what is causing your pain. You don't have to listen to these other people. If you want to see of your symptoms are created by your brain, take the assessments on this page: www.PainFreeYou.com/start

    I'm a prisoner in my own mind! Makes my life miserable, makes me want to quit the relationship I'm in. If I could rid my brain of these negative, obsessional thoughts I'd be a free woman!
    I hold onto the idea that thoughts are not necessarily fact. I have Generalised Anxiety Disorder which makes controlling my mind really difficult.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Год назад +1

      Discard the GAD diagnosis. All it does is label you as broken. You're not. Your brain is just operating on misinformation and fear. You can reverse this anxiety by learning more and lowering the fear of it. Check out my Fast Start playlist. It covers what is going on and what to do about it. Watch, take notes, implement. Repeat. DansFastStart.com - even though I talk about pain a lot, this all applies to anxiety too. Why? Because anxiety is just another symptom coming from a brain perceiving danger.

    Is it common with TMS that one symptom will improve and another might become more stubborn? I have neck/shoulder pain that is getting better, but insomnia joined the party in February around the time the pain started to fade. It’s been 6 months of insomnia and frankly I’m exhausted. Did the TMS just switch tactics? Is there already a video on this?

    How do you ignore a sensation such as pain as opposed to a thought? I just caught the answer at the end of the video, just shift your perspective. It may sound simple but it's not easy ,such as a bout of the gout per say.

    Hi Dan, I’m enjoying your videos! I like the uncomplicated approach. I’m totally convinced re role of brain in recreating pain. But I am really having trouble just starting on the track talking to my “brain”, especially telling brain I’m safe etc. Any other suggestions etc.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Год назад +1

      Understanding it all helps. Saying "I'm Safe" is not effective. Speak to your brain as if you are explaining how this stuff works and that there is no real danger present is key.
