    Totally agree with you. EX30 is much nicer on the outside and #1 on the inside. The Volvo is too minimalist for the same price. But the only thing I really miss about the Volvo is the driver's display and the steering wheel buttons.

      Haven't seen the #3 live yet. But agree. Volvo are to minimalistic. If I got a HUD, window switches in the doors and proper steering wheel buttons.. Then I would go and order a EX30. Maybe also a kick sensor for the trunk 🤣

    Basically agree with our thoughts after test driving both. The Smart is the better car. Not as nice looking as the EX30 though!. 10cm longer but a larger cabin- esp rear and adjustable boot. HUD one of the clearest I have used. Fun to drive. Brabus version looks better and better equipped still but can't get that look and spec with the Premium version as yet. Still concerned about efficiency. And owners here in UK affected by software glitches and car not rapid charging with certain networks! Also 22kW charging which is good. For a compact EV with decent range there are not many choices. Although they are coming..

    Would take an EX30 over this any day.

    Compared to the EX30 the #1 is really ugly. Bulbous looking with a weird roof that looks stuck on as an afterthought and an overly busy cockpit. And the Fox, are we back to Microsoft Office Clippy from the 90s??

      Compared to the Smart #1, the Volvo EX30 is so ugly. EX30 looks like it was designed by a robot where as the #1 by a human being. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

      Hehe 😂 Yeah.. bulbous are the word.. Exterior design aren't a highlight here

      Smart #1 really ugly? Looking weird? Overly busy cockpit? Oh dear! I wonder how you appreciate EX30 overall design. Exterior, yes it’s a better design than smart #1 but two different cars has got different charcters. If you want to be funky, fun, quirky, young and unique then smart #1 is for you. While EX30 design is just the same as the other cars, nothing special and nothing new exteriorly. With the interior design, EX30 is crap, the designers never considers the comfort of the passengers unless you’re a midget you’ll get a decent leg room and space. Smart #1 is interiorly designed perfectly prioritising the comfort, space and EV experience of the passengers, very roomy and all the things that car must have interiorly you got it all in smart unlike in EX30 nothing is inside! Feels empty Lots of missing stuff and people are happy to pay so much money to get a car that is so incomplete just because it’s with Volvo badge 😂.
      Did you say back to 90’s with clippy? 😂😂😂 have you ever seen Mini (spike) and Renault (virtual face assistant) recent software assistant for their new cars? They followed what smart #1 started the fox😂
      Soon your beloved Volvo will follow 😂😂😂

    I suggest you really consider the #3, slightly bigger, better looking and more aerodynamic. Also infotainment can be updated so maybe I will get better in time 😊

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, maybe I should try a #3 👍 Also considering if I should test the #1 Brabus. That brabus testcar didn't have the navigation bug as this one has. Apparently. And yeah, infotainment will improve, but Smart doesn't have Google built in. They use their own Mercedes top layer with navigation/voice command/user interface.

    i wanted a small car to rent as soon as possible and i opted for volvo EX30, because smart #1 and zeekr x are not available in my country yet. So real bummer.

    I really hope they either improve the braking curve both on the one pedal drive as on the adjusted cruise control or create an option in the settings to tweak the curve yourself... It breaks too abrupt in the first switch from accelerate to cruise and when it just crosses the trigger distance to the car in front.
    A desirable addition would be to have a comfort 4wd drive mode added to the brabus (or automatically activate 4wd in any mode when needed), to improve driving in winter conditions (situations where you do want 4wd but do not want 450 hp)

    Something you didn't comment on is the boot capacity. I imagine because the rear legroom is better than the EX30, the boot capacity is less.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  8 месяцев назад +4

      Yeah, forgot to show it. It's smaller, but since you can adjust the 2nd row you can easily compensate massively for that.

    Has Smart implemented Phone key? When this is in place, who wants a KeyFOB?
    Park Assist?

      Yes smart has phone key. It has auto parking service (but it has some imperfections in detecting parking spots)

    If it wasn't for the fox and the door handles I'd probably overlook the exterior design (the EX-30 looks way better to me) and would have chosen this over the EX-30. Yes the EX-30 has some compromises, but I can live with those compared to a bad infotainment, which is a dealbreaker for me (also the reason I decided not to consider VW/Skoda/Cupra even though their cars are otherwise nice)

    buttons in Volvo are not capacitive... there is physical clicking sound under the plastic. just need to press in accurated position.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  8 месяцев назад

      As I also wrote.. But the rear window button are capacitive. And the steering wheel buttons are also partly capacitive since they register you finger, before you have pressed down. So can see it in the centre screen

    Dude complaining about double pull to open the door. You can set it so that the doors unlock when you put the car in P. Thereby just one pull to open the doors. Would make sense to get use to the all the settings you can activate before complaining about something.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  8 месяцев назад +5

      Dude commenting nonsense and making assumptions 🤣
      But to answer your impolite comment... I looked thru all settings to get to know the car. Can't remember I saw anything about the double pull. And this was a short time test. Therefore it's also called first impressions.. Last note. When I picked it up I didn't get any presentation or short intro. Just here's the key, goodbye 👋
      But please make your own video since you weren't pleased with mine 🤣🤣

      Settings - Vehicle Settings - Vehicle Functions - Unlock the vehicle in P Gear
      I don't have a #1 but did spend half a day test driving one. I also test drove the EX30. Both have their plus & minus points but if I had to choose one, it would definitely be the Smart #1 Brabus.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  8 месяцев назад +2

      @kamz_a_legend That I saw. Didn't think that affected the single/double pull.. So in my opinion still annoying.
      Yeah both have pros and cons. Why would you go Smart? What's the main attraction vs EX30

  • @ArithonUK
    @ArithonUK 7 месяцев назад

    I did a test-drive on the Smart#1 a few weeks ago. It was horrible. Like sitting on a bar stool in a rowing boat. All over the place. The EX30 is a a much firmer, comfortable ride. I'd like to try the Coupe version (Smart#3) but I cannot get a test drive - the local dealer doesn't have a demonstrator car.
    The Smart does however have a much better equipped interior. Sun roof & 360 cameras are standard on all trims.

  • @Cholo981
    @Cholo981 8 месяцев назад

    Exterior, it's kinda ugly to me. :P
    #3 is a little better, but bigger car.
    The real problem with EX30 interior to me, it's how bad it scale with the money you spend. Because they look pretty decent for a 35-38K EV. But if you get the ER or Twin, even if you get the Myst room... it's not SO much better, considering you are spending 15-20k more then the standard core version.
    Also Smart gives you the glass roof, you need to get the Ultra EX30 for that, which doesn't make sense.
    Interior looks way better, although I'm not a huge fan of the super tall front diveder between the seats (hope you never need to enter from the passenger window...), kinda prefer the Volvo space there.
    But front display and REAL PHYSICAL BUTTONS are top choice. 💯💯
    I'd like to see the pro version of the #1 and #3, I may decide to drop my order for the EX30 core (also delivery should be pretty fast here, I still have to wait at least until june for the EX30, ordered almost an year ago).
