What’s insane to me is that classic AC went more than a decade after all of the games’ release without any real gameplay mods and then all of a sudden a downright revolutionary mod for the games’ most recognizable feature is developed for all of the games in the span of 2 months
@@MrVoland44 that’s fair, but there were tons of people labbing out with AC even back in 2007. Technical play is definitely more mainstream now, but it’s been going on for a really long time.
Holy peak. Was really glad to see the process of you working on this, the final product was amazing. Definitely one of my favorite AC montages I’ve seen for sure, and a great showcase of probably the most revolutionary fan project to come out of this series thus far
This was fucking amazing. The music, the Animus animations and load screens, the transitions, and most importantly, the parkour are all phenomenal. Hopefully with this people will no longer see it as just the vault mod. Honestly it's so well done that anyone who isn't familiar with parkour would think that this is vanilla gameplay (as it should be). It's an amazing experience! Though it really does take some time to get used to, Henry did his absolute best to make the binds as logical and simple as possible without sacrificing much of the functionality
Ubisoft had the assets to put all of this in the original AC2 considering this was all available in AC1 by default. It didn't need to take a modder to add these in tens of years after the fact. Kinda embarrassing for Ubi. Good work to the people who made this mod, and thank you :3
The assets have always been there, but what's shown here is almost fully not possible in AC1. This is in a way worse, because the mod utilizes functionality that was always present through extremely smart workarounds, while Ubi had the ability to let their devs introduce all of this control (e.g swings on beams, parkour down biasing from ANY move, vaulting from ANY state, not just non standing, foot-planted states like in AC1) from the inside. Everyone who worked on this made an insanely robust system, and later had its potential sadly squandered by whoever vouched for things to not grow in depth. Also, thank you so much
I am shocked. With these mods, the good old classic AC games are like NEW again!!!! At this point, perhaps the only extra update I can think of is hookblades in AC2 and ACB.
@@animusdrifter No no, when Arno jumps from a height, by pressing O on playstation Arno can do a parkour roll like Ezio does at 1:55 . But for Ezio it is not controlled, and sometimes Ezio can make a hard landing.

In vanilla, the Ezio roll is actually fully controllable - if you're falling at a velocity that'd warrant a hard landing with no directional input, simply holding your directional input toward where Ezio is facing while falling triggers the roll consistently. Though you couldn't force a roll on soft landings when vanilla, the mod now also introduces the feature of just being able to hold empty hand as you're landing onto a standing surface from any height and with any velocity.
I love these mods so much, and I'm glad they're coming to ACB & ACR. I'm not sure if I'll use them that often, though. I don't know why, but only certain parts like manual vaulting work for me. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the usage or incorrectly timing my inputs...

I read that the AC2 Definitive Parkour mod was for the Ubisoft version, but I thought I might as well test it anyways. Once I saw the manual vaults, and parkour down close/far was working, I assumed it was fine, and perhaps I was just doing the aforementioned mistakes. In the end, I'm fine with just those features, honestly. I don't think I want to redownload another version of AC2, B, & R, as well as reinstalling all my other mods. I wouldn't want to trouble the mod author(s) either. XD

Indeed! You can swing on anything that lets Ezio's feet dangle freely, with enough space to launch off, made even easier in tight spaces such as smaller roof overhangs by inputting Near miss, due to the way it works and tricks targeting
I've been pretty busy, so not sure when my next upload is coming, but a comparison video would be cool. One thing is that it's not exactly possible to "compare" everything, because the mod works alongside the game in certain cases, and simply enables features that aren't there in others. For example, it'd be possible to show that a parkour down eject targets lower objects, as opposed to a normal, vanilla one, which would rather bias to gain height, but both are present and the player chooses whether they want the parkour down variant. Thing is that the Vault, for example, doesn't have an active variation in regard to basegame as the mod actively enables it to be used on the fly to begin with. I suppose a showcase/guide that goes more in depth would be better, though I'm not exactly sure when I'd be able to make one, even if I really want to.
When I try to use the Vault Modifier (X on Xbox controller, right?) in ACII Ezio just punches. This is while holding RT and A to sprint. Also happens when just holding RT. I DID enable the mod AND the parkour mode. It still happens. How do I perform a simple jump out of a run towards a ledge to vault over it? Pressing X only while in midair does not trigger the vault for me either. The rest works

The moveset was already richer than Unity, and now it's just flexing on it with everything AC2 used to lack lol

The keybinds are listed on the modpage, though there's a lot of functionality, so also a lot to get used to and learn
Can u make a comparison video of the modded and vanilla versions?
I've been pretty busy, so not sure when my next upload is coming, but a comparison video would be cool. One thing is that it's not exactly possible to "compare" everything, because the mod works alongside the game in certain cases, and simply enables features that aren't there in others. For example, it'd be possible to show that a parkour down eject targets lower objects, as opposed to a normal, vanilla one, which would rather bias to gain height, but both are present and the player chooses whether they want the parkour down variant. Thing is that the Vault, for example, doesn't have an active variation in regard to basegame as the mod actively enables it to be used on the fly to begin with. I suppose a showcase/guide that goes more in depth would be better, though I'm not exactly sure when I'd be able to make one, even if I really want to.

When I try to use the Vault Modifier (X on Xbox controller, right?) in ACII Ezio just punches. This is while holding RT and A to sprint. Also happens when just holding RT. I DID enable the mod AND the parkour mode. It still happens.
How do I perform a simple jump out of a run towards a ledge to vault over it? Pressing X only while in midair does not trigger the vault for me either. The rest works
To prevent punches, you now need to have hidden blades selected, as they've been turned into the only weapon whose use is disabled with parkour mode
