@@youknowwhatever8649 just wanted to add, it wasn’t just some hand cannon that was rarely developed at the time… it was sheathed while being made so small that it may have basic components, just so it could wrap around a persons wrist lol straight up assassination
I mean, the point is of course that Altaïr learned some future technology from the apple, but actually... he died 1257, so this was maybe around 1250. The first documented fire lance use is dated to 1132 and one of the earliest possible depictions of a hand cannon is even dated to 1128 and we know that the Mongols used early firearms as well. And Altaïr even fought the Mongols before. He, his wife Maria and his son Darim went to kill Genghis Khan and his son managed to do it. So it's futuristic, but not completely otherworldly. The assassins probably knew about the concept of such weapons, just not as advanced.
@@youknowwhatever8649 I mean even late medieval firearms weren't that great. His cannon seems to be very precise, while 15th century hand cannons were more something you shot in the general direction of a large mass of enemies in the hope that someone would be hit. Crossbows and bows were still the more popular range weapons, because you were at least able to hit something. Handcannons were superior in actually penetrating plate armor for example, so they had their place, but only in addition to larger numbers of crossbow/longbowmen. Hand cannons weren't even that expensive compared to other weapons... at least without the blackpowder. I recently read a price list for different weapons and armor in the late medieval age. It's a German list, it's basically a list of stuff mercenaries got replaced by their client after a battle, which was very common. They got a so called "Schadlosbrief", "letter of indemnity". A handcannon is 1 Rhenish gulden, a crossbow is 2-4 Rhenish gulden and a crossbow with winch even 3-5 Rhenish gulden. Just to get some perspective: Breastplate and backplate together are 2 Rhenish gulden, a kettle hat is 1.5-3 Rhenish gulden and a horse trained for battle is 30-40 Rhenish gulden. The average income of a mercenary is around 48 Rhenish gulden per year which is comparable with a very good paid journeyman (20-50 per year) or a master craftsman (30-60 per year). So you could say one Rhenish gulden is a bit like paying 1000€ today.

Revelations was the only game in the series that was all about the story. From what I've seen, that's the reason most people say it's one of the worst games. For me however, that's the one reason why this game is my absolute favourite. There is no arguing that Revelations is the most emotional AC game, where we've seen the growth of the 2 defining characters of the franchise, then we got satisfying closures to their legendary stories. And don't even get me started on the soundtracks. It's honestly beyond me how anyone could hate this masterpiece.
@@akealalawad8898 Yeah, most people love Brotherhood above any other AC game, and I can see the appeal and I loved that game too. He may have become the Mentor in Brotherhood but it's in Revelations that he reached legendary status. How could you not love that!
The hookblade was probably the most fun addition to the series. I think people hated it because its essentially the same 2 games but with a gimmick (base defense).
@@Skishe I mean that’s what Assassins Creed has always been, it was at base always the same game but they also always managed to add some new and good gimmicks that made the game feel fresh, sometimes smaller gimmicks like the Hook Blade and then from adding ship combat as a late and minor thing in AC3 to making an entire AC game based around that gimmick, but at base they always were the same games, just with a different story, setting or characters.
Wait a minute, people actually thought Revelations was the worst AC? I thought it was AC3. Revelations was the best among them, Brotherhood being the next. Altair and Ezio's journey as an assassin is the reason why I fell in love with the series, especially Ezio. We started with him from his birth, what drove him to become an assassin and the steps he took to later become grandmaster assassin.
i actually hate Ezio at the beginning of AC 2 and sighed when he became consumed by revenge. but they made his character devellopment like Altairs a very interresting ride and Brotherhood and Revelations made me like him more and more. @Arabian KING Not really "new" considering Origins has been out nearly 5 years, and how is that relevant to their importance to the Brotherhood in-universe? They literally founded the Assassin's Creed
The moments that I felt pity for Abbas were in his final moments. He rejected the truth of his father's end, allowing the hate to fester within him, finally showing itself after Al Mualim's pyre and trying to take the apple, as well as executing one of Altaïr's sons and chasing him away from Masyaf for 20 years. Altaïr says not to pity Abbas, but it is the only thing left to give him.
Well, I will never pity or forgive Abbas (especially after what he did to the Brotherhood, executed Malik (yeah, it was established that this asshole did this) and many other wrongdoings). I agree that it is tragic that Abbas father’s dead, yet that excuse just became more annoying (and Abbas became to me more hated). I mean look at Malik. His brother was killed because of Altair’s mistake and he himself was pissed on Altair, yet he later forgives him after seeing how Altair changed.
The thing to me that always stood out about this mission to me was, despite the fact that all you *really* did was walk a long way, they made it interesting, awesome even. This game, these characters, the music and story. This was peak Assassins Creed. Revaluations was oddly enough my first AC. Yet I felt like I knew Ezio instantly and could see the depth of Altair’s story. This is what it used to be. Not faking spartan kicking people like rag dolls in some pseudo RPG... The last bit with Altair and Abbas legitimately makes me tear up. The misunderstanding and sound end. It hits levels that I unfortunately will never see from the series again. As with all things popular. They milk it dry... AC for me died with Desmond, with AC Black Flag, AC Unity and maybe 1 or 2 others being nice side pieces of content. I kinda hate talking with such reverence for media as it makes me feel like a fanboy lol. But in truth, this is as with any Good story. Good theme. Good painting. Art... Support Art guys. Not modernity or the garbage mass produced for the masses. Support real authentic emotion, writing and depth. Support Art.
I wouldn't say it was THE peak... more so its' end. The peak of Assassin's Creed, for me, was Brotherhood. AC1 came out, and it was revolutionary, original, made by people who had passion for their craft and weren't afraid to go through with it, rather than pander to the lowest common denominator. AC2 came out, and it was even better... the perfect sequel, keeping everything that made the first so great, and building on it. Brotherhood, while not as revolutionary as the two before it, still built on it, and improved things. The story was incredible, the gameplay was incredible... Revelations was the end of an era. It was a game that, despite still having a pretty good story, didn't do much to improve on the previous titles, adding only things like grenades and tower defense minigames. But, it was still a great game. Then, AC3 came out.... and the classic AC games I enjoyed were dead, never to return. Nowadays, they just pump out yearly trash became it makes a profit, and the developers are just 9-5 workers who want to finish whatever it is they're told to do by managment that understands nothing about the needs and wands of its' customers, so they can go home and forget they're having to be part of something so shitty and soulless.
There are few ghosts glitches in this mission (ln the video we see one on the left at 3:17 or 5:09). If you activate the eagle vision when you see them, it'll trigger various memories of Altair's moments with his wife, like he's thinking about her as he's on his way to get back Masyaf.

Such a beautifully fitting final fight for Altair. He's spent his lifetime being super agile and parkouring all around his enemies. As an old man he gets to maintain his badassery without even trying all that hard anymore. I know it's the Apple giving him all the power, sure, but I feel like even if he didn't have it, he would've broken his bones giving his parkour skills one more run.
Altaïr's powers as an old man are the respect he commands and the wisdom he holds. He can use the Apple, yes, but he mostly considers it a source of knowledge, treating it more as a book than as a weapon (although he could easily weaponize it).

I believe since the Codex was written by Altair himself, I can say that even Ezio uses the same weapon too as here (The Hidden Gun made by Leonardo in AC2, with reference to the Codex) So technically, we use the Hidden Pistol both with Ezio and even Altair.
I'm confused by this statement. Are you saying that the hidden gun Altair is using is the one Ezio uses? If so, that's not the case. It is Altair's invention, sorta, since he got it from the Apple.
He got it built based on some designs from the apple, same as Ezio. It's like two people buying the same type of car. Both are built from the same schematic, but they're still different.

@@youknowwhatever8649 just wanted to add, it wasn’t just some hand cannon that was rarely developed at the time…
it was sheathed while being made so small that it may have basic components, just so it could wrap around a persons wrist lol straight up assassination

He may have become the Mentor in Brotherhood but it's in Revelations that he reached legendary status. How could you not love that!
The hookblade was probably the most fun addition to the series.
I think people hated it because its essentially the same 2 games but with a gimmick (base defense).

I mean that’s what Assassins Creed has always been, it was at base always the same game but they also always managed to add some new and good gimmicks that made the game feel fresh, sometimes smaller gimmicks like the Hook Blade and then from adding ship combat as a late and minor thing in AC3 to making an entire AC game based around that gimmick, but at base they always were the same games, just with a different story, setting or characters.
Wait a minute, people actually thought Revelations was the worst AC? I thought it was AC3.
Revelations was the best among them, Brotherhood being the next. By your words, it is the most emotional in the franchise, and lives up to its Title. I really enjoyed those scenes of Ezio writing letters to Claudia, they were well-written..

I like the new games they are fun in thier own way but to me they arent assassin creed games. Just a new game with some references to assasins creed.
I have had a blast with odyssey and valhalla though and finished origins but I had lost interest in it about halfway through and haven't picked it up since. But I did multiple playthroughs on odyssey and hoping by some miracle that ubisoft hasnt given up on new game + for Valhalla
The reason they changed is because people asked for it but apparently didn’t like what they literally asked for… because the main storyline had been ended so now they split off into the undiscovered storylines and brought them into the lime light, you guys hated things being the same and asked for change but then when they did change things, you guys wanted it to be the same… picky bastards
@@ErrorCreed Lmao you're right xD
I guess most plebs could still prefer killing AIs by pressing one button assasition or counter attacks for a straight 40-60 hours content with the same gameplay every 2-3 years each release .

Altair and Ezio...Bayek would be proud of them both
Amunet was really the most prolific hidden one though.
@@a_hidden_one Bayek was a better assassin
@@a_hidden_one no bayek was the better assassin long story short:Bayek didnt care about being famous and written in history, instead he wanted to be forgotten amunet on the other side wanted to be written in history
@@josephali6206 If every Assassin wanted fame, they'd break the third tenet of the creed, it's more a case of both Bayek and Aya helped shape The Hidden Ones, but Bayek reserved his involvement to more of an advisor, specifically the last cutscene in The Hidden Ones DLC for Origins highlights this, Aya is callin' the shots.
Bayek fades into the background, while Aya becomes well known and respected throughout The Hidden Ones, even after her death, eventually being moved to Italy to be a Guardian of one of the six Assassin seals needed to Unlock the gate that holds Altair's Armour, kept safe by the Auditore Assassins.
Not mentioning the retcon of Amunet being buried in Egypt, moved to Italy, then going right on back to Egypt later.
I hate retcons.
@@drummerboi661 was that retcon from origins when her mummy is in the tomb? I thought her body was not actually in the auditore mansion but instead she was just memorialized there.
Altair the man who started it all. A legend forever.
I love how that poor assassin on 4:28 gets pushed over and falls because of that other assassin running lmao
Hahaha probably got too excited.
Bro was on an ounce of life left, and his fellow brother knocked him over a tad too hard
There is a lesson here
My god the story from the old games were just another level of excellence. Literally goosebumps.
the Music in the background between Altair and Abbas .. Good old days .. Everything in AC Games was so prefect
What a story. The whole Brotherhood trilogy. The first one with a young, brash Ezio. The deep gameplay of Brotherhood (one of the GOATs, imo), and the beautiful homage and love storytelling of Revelations, giving a perfect send-off to one of the best characters. The Altair parts were so unexpected, and just icing on this delicious cake.
Abbas: "I am the master!"
Altair: "I always told you and old man could kick your ass."
Damn. Things bring me back memories of simpler times.
I love how Altair’s whole character resembles Ulysses. The second part of his existence being a long perpetual journey, his tragic personal life, his great thirst for knowledge… and it never shows more clearly than here: the old King returning under a humble guise to drive out the usurpers and reclaim his throne, like the Greek hero did at the end of the Odyssey.
👏
As a true born Syrian, I miss Altair and his story. I would want to see his story remastered so badly.
Kinda great because in Islamic believes, there's this place after death where every single one of your deals, doubt, and all those things when you were alive will be resolved. Only once it's all resolved that it'd be decided either heaven or hell for you

I like how in the book this scene had Altair helped by Malik's son to reclaim masyaf. It seems extreme loyalty despite the pain and consequences runs in that guys family. (As well as bad luck -losing an arm, a brother and in his sons case losing your father in a very shameful and brutal way as well as your name in an attempt to hide that you were ever even related to avoid his fate)
I hope his family line continued with the assassins into the modern times
Bruh this mission is a masterpiece. Look at all the assassins moving through the roofs, so cool
“ In the next life we will find you, and there will be no doubts”
Oh Abbas, I don’t think you’re going to the same place as my main man Altair ;)
I think all assassins go to hell. You know, "thou shalt not kill" and all that
@@yourfandomsucks7466 Well they see themselves as Martyrs, no? Killing for a higher cause and all that.
@@yourfandomsucks7466 Well that isn't what the command says, but regardless... This is AC's world, where humans were created by an ancient people that died off. Is there even a heaven and hell in this world?
@@alexanderthered5603 Well according to Odyssey, it seems that there is some sort of afterlife, and seeing that we only see deities corresponding to the beliefs of the characters (egyptian gods for bayek, norse for Eivor), my guess is that they end up where they believe they'll end up. Meaning there could very well be an afterlife similar to the one in which Abbas and Altaïr believe
@@yourfandomsucks7466 ...but the norse "gods" are just more dead ancient people?
Honestly one of the greatest scenes/levels in all of Assassin’s Creed. Seeing the way the still-honorable Assassins react to Altair’s return, rallying at his side, immediately moving to coordinate and escort him up to the castle - it puts on full display the clear admiration and deep respect that the Brotherhood had for Altair and his mentorship, and makes for an incredibly badass moment. Absolute gem from Revelations.
The song played in the background really set the mood in these scenes like this in the game
Revelations was amazing! Altaïr and Ezio are the only Assassins worth remembering. Not to mention, the Desmond era actually had a story 😂
For real, it feels like they killed off Desmond in a futile attempt to force the series to end, as if they knew the series was turning sour. That's just speculation, but it's definitely what it feels like to me.
Since then, it's like they've completely forgotten the plot. What ever happened to using the animus to train new assassins the skills that their ancestors had? Now it's all just "ooh this could lead us to an artifact" over and over. And they got so carried away with the Isu stuff that Abstergo isn't even that relevant most of the time. The plot in each game is so shallow now. They really derailed the franchise.
Bayek and Aya too. They literally founded the Creed and had a story just as great as Ezio’s
@@kaitosevski3881 yes but the present day storyline was utterly unforgettable
@@ajax3748 yeah, but the modern day story was always pretty boring, even in the Desmond days
@@kaitosevski3881 I strongly disagree. Think of ac2 and ac3. All the cool missions we got to go on showing off all the skills that Desmond learned.

Hearing this line is quite ironic, if it’s put in the context of Ubisoft design for the newer games.
To me the most epic part is that, while others existed firearms were far from widespread at the time, so to the other assassin's it will have looked as though Altair merely pointed at Abbas, there was a loud bang and he dropped dead. It'll have seemed that he was using some form of magic.
this game was the best way to wrap up ezio's trilogy. im going to cry
It's always so cool to see fellow assassins doing parkour in the background as Altair slowly walks towards his goal and the music is so well done, Masyaf feels like a corrupted twisted version of what it used to be, the whole scene felt like the village was sick and needed to be purged.
I love that they used the beautiful og soundtrack of ac1 in some of altair‘s sequences
Altair is badass but let's just appreciate that one guy who said "There's a lesson here and it's to not test big scary people"
He said that after Altair and the assassin's killed the captain.

The Hood and Cloak makes Altaïr even more intimidating.

@@yyelubayy Hey man, I don't blame the witcher, I'm a witcher fan myself. But I dislike if a game is trying to copy another game while losing their own identity in the process. If there's anyone to blame it's gotta be Ubisoft and their goofy ass higher-ups.
this used to be my favourite franchise. I read the book telling his life in full before this game came out and playing this after reading the book hit hard man. Abbas was such a great character I wish they gave him more depth but hey that's what the book was for I guess.
I always liked the scenes after an assassination, from AC 1. Enemy and assassin speaking without any bias, since there is no need to scheme, or fight anymore.

Back when the title meant something. I think when people talk about the essence of the saga, it may not be just stealth, hidden blade or the hoods, but the whole point of the actual Assassin’s Creed, the values it represents and fights for and how they could apply to any story they would like to tell
