This is, hands down, the best AC1 parkour video I've seen in a veeeery long time. The complexity of the moves, the pathing, the music, everything was so perfect!
I think it's because (and this is going to come as a surprise) Bayek and Aya are the fastest Assassins in the franchise. They run the fastest, they climb the fastest. There was a comparison video which proved this. I've only started playing Mirage today, and would say that I think Basim matches Bayek. Although this is tough to properly confirm, since they changed the climbing in this one. They implemented something from the OG games; the fact that only certain things can be climbed. I like this change, it makes you think more about your approach, and really makes you search to figure out how to enter a place. I still have fond memories of AC1, trying to climb a tower to get a better view of something, but having to think of a way to do it, since I had to get past some guards guarding the entrance to a square, and I can't climb over the wall. I had to genuinely think about a plan to lure them away (Okay, yeah, I killed an innocent woman to get them to investigate the body, but it's for the cause.. yeah, we'll just say that..). I'm glad I'll be able to re-experience this. Also, I wasn't disappointed, nor surprised that the parkour is simply a swifter version of the Valhalla parkour because I knew that they couldn't get a new engine for it, since they still had to release the game for PS4 and such. I'm sure that the next mainstream game will be PS5 and so on exclusive, meaning that Ubisoft can simply make a new engine without having to worry about limitations.
I’m just going to quite making ac parkour content after this. I didn’t even know it was possible to be this good and precise for 4 WHOLE MINUTES! The amount of dedication to pull this off is actually just baffling

Utterly impressive. The precision and control showcased here is immaculate. Regardless of how much I may personally enjoy it. BRING PARKOUR BACK
I'm so so glad you enjoyed it so much, and thank you for the kind words! Also, fully agreed with you on Mirage. Due to the positive reception of what Mirage does well, I decided to get it after thinking I wasn't going to for a long time, hoping that its positives would overshadow the negatives. Yet, the movement still constantly gets in my way, limits me, and pushes me into a playstyle that I don't play AC for, whether I try to push it or not.

Replaying AC 1 and the Ezio games, I've come to appreciate what we lost in later games, precise and fast parkour, sure the Kenway Saga and the Unity games may have flashy and cool animations, but those games don't have the precision, speed, and agility of AC 1 to Revelations parkour. And by replaying AC 1 just now, I'm now realizing, pulling off this kind of parkour for 4 and a half minutes, requires alot of concentration, precision and awareness. All things that I'm quite lacking, thank you for this amazing art, Animus Drifter, I don't know how many times I've watched this video by now because it's pure art and skill. And I freakin love it.

I think (from my own observations at least, which of course might be wrong) it's mostly because of how the map is designed, in AC2 onwards most of the parkour paths are linear, you have a street, and then you either parkour on one or the other side of two buildings, and that's mostly it, with a few ways to parkour between the two sides, those sides of buildings have their own parkour path that you can traverse, and it can be done well and fun, but it is still just one path to go through, whereas in AC1, you less so have parkour paths, and more so fragments of parkour paths that are scattered everywhere in every direction, which means that usually you'll have at least like 3 choices on where you want to go, and usually even more, this makes pathfinding way more fun since you have to constantly scan your surroundings on where you wanna go next and how to get there, whereas in AC2 onwards, you choose one of two or three path choices, and are pretty much locked into it unless you wanna do a weird specific jump or something. Parkour in AC1 isn't perfect, but it sure damn is close to being perfect in my eyes.
You see, this is why when I watch the AC Revelations trailer and Altair walks through the soldiers looking at Ezio like he's an amateur, I understand it more. Why fight when you can run.

But It just shows your skill though to not even sweat over a punch drop in a tight corner like that so close to the end of a run, you must have the timing down to perfection because i guarantee most people would mess that up under such pressure at least 1/10 times (myself included lol) but i suppose with runs like this you're bound to fail countless times on many different parts before you perfect it, and thats the beauty of the finished product!
AC1's parkour is imo the best mechanically in the entire series. The skill ceiling is higher than any AC game since.
Amazing! I thought this game was slow but it's a skill issue lol.
We were spoilt in 2007. The games and movies.
This is awesome Animus, amazing work.
Thank you so much

Altar:let me show you how I can do this 🦅
I've just played AC1 and 2. Man those r fun as hell.
I don't remember doing all this parkour...
@@Altair-El-Haddad You missed out, then
@animusdrifter it was a joke, my name's altair lol
@@Altair-El-Haddad ahh lmao
Aye! nice work Brother! Beautifully crafted!
Thank you!
You see, this is why when I watch the AC Revelations trailer and Altair walks through the soldiers looking at Ezio like he's an amateur, I understand it more. Why fight when you can run.
Despite it's flaws of the first game it really has a good parkour sequence
oh hell no this is so so smooth
Just when I thought I couldn't love Altaïr more, now do it Maria and the Templars chasing after you for an extra challenge.
I think you just convinced me to buy ac 1...
Wow! Top of the line stuff here.
crazy how the first entry in this series has better parkour than the most recent one, ubisoft just likes to downgrade their games ig
