I've heard this song countless times, but it never gets old! The groove and vibe of the song is so potent. And the lyrics are so hysterical and cutting and spot on! The band of Cannata and DeVito and Javors is also so ridiculously tight and loose all at the same time! I can't be more effusive! Joel's catalogue is vast and the little hits that nobody talks about are some of his brightest gems! CET

    Los Angelenos
    All come from somewhere
    To live in sunshine
    Their funky exile
    Midwestern ladies
    High-heeled and faded
    Drivin' sleek new sports cars
    With their New York cowboys
    Hiding up in the mountains
    Laying low in the canyons
    Goin' nowhere on the streets
    With the Spanish names
    Makin' love with the natives
    In their Hollywood places
Making up for all the time gone by
    Los Angelenos
    All come from somewhere
    Cuz it's all so easy
    To become acquainted
    Electric babies
    Blue-jeaned and jaded
    Such hot sweet schoolgirls
    So educated
    Tanning out in the beaches
    With their Mexican reefers
No one ever has to feel
    Like a refugee
    Going into garages
    For exotic massages
Making up for all the time gone by
    Hiding up in the mountains
    Laying low in the canyons
    Goin' nowhere on the streets
    With the Spanish names
    Makin' love with the natives
    In their Hollywood places
Making up for all the time gone by
    Los Angelenos
    All come from somewhere
    It's so familiar
    Their foreign faces

You are incorrect. This performance is from
July 1981 @ Sparks; Long Island, NY...a full year after the material on Songs In The Attic was recorded. Those recordings date from
      June and July 1980.

Billy considers himself more of a keyboardist than a pianist. Makes sense, he’s more of a band player than a soloist.

Definitely not 1974. This is from Songs in the Attic in 1981 but an amazing performance nonetheless.

There used to be a shithole called "Sparks" in Deer Park on Long Island too. I saw Dream Theater there in 1992

The entire gig at Sparks was recorded on multitrack tape, and also shot on video...in monochrome fashion.

@@colindonald365 I've only ever seen a couple other songs on video from this show. There's a full two hour concert which is what I'm curious about- if they have the entirety on tape stashed away in Sony's vault somewhere.
