***** Many times a song brings back certain memories from other times in our lives. This song for me is one of those cases. And perhaps for that reason alone I love this song. It's not realistic to be unbiased about music, especially music that has history for you. For instance, there are probably people in the world that love Uptown Girl for some unknown reason.

The forgotten song from Side 1 of the 1980 album Glass Houses, arguably one of the greatest album sides of all time.
Joel described this as his capturing “the feeling of a 16 year old guy getting his heart broken” and how “you’re obsessed with her, you’re losing your friends, you’re driving your family crazy, and she just wants nothing to do with you”. Now I’m not failing school, but I’m turning 16 in less than a month and I’m all about this girl. Hope I don’t keep coming back to this one any time soon lol
Another great tune from Billy; one of the greatest songwriters there was.
Man, this is gonna sound like those old people, but I went through the exact same thing. Don’t try to lose the feeling cause it will drive you crazy (you can’t shake love out at will), but use it to your advantage! Direct your whole self to one or many productive tasks (doesn’t need to be work related, btw) in order to show her how you have grown or can win her back or something, and then you’ll find out that all that effort was not done for her, it was all for YOU! You’ll feel pround, have a story to tell, it serves as closing when the project is done, and might actually help you meet new and interesting people in the process! Now, I’m 21 now and don’t really know if I’m getting old at this love game, but I’ll tell you that it really is worth it if you wait for the right person and work on yourself more than you work on anyone else! People are some crazy being who change their minds all the time, but even the stuff that isn’t forever can bring a smile to your face if you just give it time. Hope you do well on this which is the most amazing feeling of all. Just don’t fall for a Leyna that’s not what you deserve 😉

I named my daughter Leyna because of this song!♡♡♡♡ I knew when I was 11 years old, when the Glass Houses album had come out, that if I ever had a daughter, this would be her name.
As a Minor, And a Die hard billy joel fan, If i ever have a Daughter, I would have to name her either Christie Lee or Laura.
Glass Houses is such a great album. All For Leyna is still one of my favorite Billy Joel songs.

My favourite Billy Joel song. I love it when pianos are played as the percussion instruments that they are. Back in Junior High at the turn of the 90s when Billy Joel was very uncool in the teenage world, we had a lip sync contest at school and I went up on stage, sat at the piano adorned in the Glass Houses drawing I did in art class, dressed exactly as Billy on the cover, and did my best fake concert performance, pounding the keys just enough as to not make sound, but to give the visual image of my angst, and even got up during the vocal bridge to pour my heart out and slam my leather jacket on the stage. I went on to play guitar in many bands & real concerts after that. And it started All For Leyna.

Bon Jovi stole that piano riff for “Runaway”
At 3:18, his left hand is pounding the chords while his right hand is on the upper keyboard. Then at 3:24 he seamlessly switches hands, and now his right hand is pounding the same chords. You never hear the difference. That's impressive.
My college roommate was a piano player who really got me into Billy Joel music. He pointed out how difficult that was...left hand instantly starts doing what the right was while the right goes to a different keyboard and does something totally new. Then they switch back to what they were doing before, all without missing a beat. Just a casual flex from The Piano Man.
you realize that they are playing to a pre-recorded track of the finished mix for the video right? - he may actually do that live when they play it, but when you "fake it" you don't have to worry about that, since Im sure they overdubbed the OBX stuff just to make things easier recording it. He actually did re-record the vocal for the video version - but the rest of the track is how it was on Glass Houses.
