***** Many times a song brings back certain memories from other times in our lives. This song for me is one of those cases. And perhaps for that reason alone I love this song. It's not realistic to be unbiased about music, especially music that has history for you. For instance, there are probably people in the world that love Uptown Girl for some unknown reason.

I think Billy Joel is a freakin genius! His songs never get old and no matter what people love genre wise I have never met anyone that didn't love and appreciate his music.
In my opinion, Billy Joel is one of the most prolific and versatile of all the composers-singers-piano players and performes in many, many years gone. Greeetings to everyone from México City
Heard this in 1996. Was 13 years old then. My cousin bro was older than me and it was my job to rewind the cassette with a pencil so we could listen again and again and again.....
you know a song is truly great when the music video doesn't need to have special visuals and "stories" to sell the song. All we see here is truly epic. Simple billy joels emotion and passion when he sings and performs. I get so much more of it.
This was in the very beginning of music videos. It's fantastic because yes, it's just Billy singing & playing at his best. No gimmicks, just great music
This is an actual performance of the song with the studio recording playing in place of the live version. I'd imagine the actual performance is here on the tube
This gem of an album cut is one of Billy Joel's many masterpieces that answer the question "What would you get if Mozart or Beethoven were born in the mid-20th century and tasked to crank out a classic 80's rocker?"
this song spoke to me as a child.....i listened to it over and over on the turn table!!!! and this is the first time i listened to it in like 30 years or more and i'm dumb founded by the feelings it brings up!!!!
Joel described this as his capturing “the feeling of a 16 year old guy getting his heart broken” and how “you’re obsessed with her, you’re losing your friends, you’re driving your family crazy, and she just wants nothing to do with you”. Now I’m not failing school, but I’m turning 16 in less than a month and I’m all about this girl. Hope I don’t keep coming back to this one any time soon lol Another great tune from Billy; one of the greatest songwriters there was.
Man, this is gonna sound like those old people, but I went through the exact same thing. Don’t try to lose the feeling cause it will drive you crazy (you can’t shake love out at will), but use it to your advantage! Direct your whole self to one or many productive tasks (doesn’t need to be work related, btw) in order to show her how you have grown or can win her back or something, and then you’ll find out that all that effort was not done for her, it was all for YOU! You’ll feel pround, have a story to tell, it serves as closing when the project is done, and might actually help you meet new and interesting people in the process! Now, I’m 21 now and don’t really know if I’m getting old at this love game, but I’ll tell you that it really is worth it if you wait for the right person and work on yourself more than you work on anyone else! People are some crazy being who change their minds all the time, but even the stuff that isn’t forever can bring a smile to your face if you just give it time. Hope you do well on this which is the most amazing feeling of all. Just don’t fall for a Leyna that’s not what you deserve 😉
well im only 16 but i listen to this and i travel in the time!! because my dad used to play this ALL THE TIME when i was little!! and I love Billy Joel so much!! this is great music!!
My favourite Billy Joel song. I love it when pianos are played as the percussion instruments that they are. Back in Junior High at the turn of the 90s when Billy Joel was very uncool in the teenage world, we had a lip sync contest at school and I went up on stage, sat at the piano adorned in the Glass Houses drawing I did in art class, dressed exactly as Billy on the cover, and did my best fake concert performance, pounding the keys just enough as to not make sound, but to give the visual image of my angst, and even got up during the vocal bridge to pour my heart out and slam my leather jacket on the stage. I went on to play guitar in many bands & real concerts after that. And it started All For Leyna.
Can someone please explain to me why on God’s green earth this song is so unknown and underrated?!!! It’s a crime that this music video has under a million views and is not one of Billy Joel’s most famous!
I named my daughter Leyna because of this song!♡♡♡♡ I knew when I was 11 years old, when the Glass Houses album had come out, that if I ever had a daughter, this would be her name.
The greatest Billy Joel song , All For Leyna!!!!! The lyrics are just fantastic!!!! There's nothing in it for you, because I'm giving it all to Leyna. Magic, you can't beat it!
Sir Billy's got it all - the music, the band, the words, the voice, the fun. And that's on a bad day ... Love from Barry in Melbourne, Australia ;--) (P.S. Any Melburnians remember Sir Billy at Kooyong, November '87? He jumped off the piano!)

Incredibly catchy melody, magic piano work and energetic vocals, plus the arresting stop sequence. Best Billy Joel song hands down (only competing with the epic "Goodnight Saigon"). The music video is a bit dated, but I can watch this all day long, blindfolded… :-)
Innteresting how with this album Billy Joel adopted the late seventies skinny-tie new wave look and attitude. That kind of punk-influenced, nervy, ironic Elvis Costello- type presentation. Brilliant song, in any case
Why is no one taking about how Billy just pops up at the beginning and stares into the cameras soul
Yeah he does that
Mine. My soul.
IT'S ALL FOR LEYNA!
This was the first time they ever did videos. It's all just Rock and roll to Me everything was new they were just rolling with it and having fun this was prior to MTV when they were places were just doing promo videos.
He's doing that to stalk Leyna.
Best Billy Joel song ever. Or maybe Piano Man. Or maybe Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. Or New York State of Mind. Or.... Damn you Billy Joel.
My apologies that my opinion does not concur with yours. I will try to do better next time.

Leyna is Sometimes a Fantasy but I prefer an Uptown Girl for the longest time. I wanted to tell her about it but I’m movin out. Goodnight Saigon.
My favorite Billy Joel song. A lot of people had a “Leyna” once in their life and can relate.
Just one Leyna? You're so lucky, I've had only Leynas...
Exactly!!!!
This is really interestingly awkward for me
and i sung this to her
“Leyna” ruined my 20s
Criminally underrated song

Anyone else listen to this one over and over?
Back then and now, especially this song.
My son does. Never heard it until he listened to it
walshy
Throughout my senior year in college, class of '80.
I've been playing it 10 times while walking through fue streets of Prague. A very exciting combination.
Tim Loubser no se no se a ablar español Abla español
My 12 year old son is obsessed with this song and wore his "Glass Houses" t-shirt proudly to school today.
She stood on the tracks
Waving her arms
Leading me to that third rail shock
Quick as a wink
She changed her mind
She gave me a night
That’s all it was
What will it take until I stop
Kidding myself
Wasting my time
There’s nothing else I can do
‘Cause I’m doing it all for Leyna
I don’t want anyone new
‘Cause I’m living it all for Leyna
There’s nothing in it for you
‘Cause I’m giving it all to Leyna
We laid on the beach
Watching the tide
She didn’t tell me there were rocks
Under the waves
Right off the shore
Washed up on the sand
Barely alive
Wishing the undertow would stop
How can a man take anymore
There’s nothing else I can do
‘Cause I’m doing it all for Leyna
I don’t want anyone new
‘Cause I’m living it all for Leyna
There’s nothing in it for you
‘Cause I’m giving it all to Leyna
I’m failing in school
Losing my friends
Making my family lose their minds
I don’t want to eat
I don’t want to sleep
I only want Leyna one more time
Now I’m in my room
Watching the tube
Telling myself she still may drop
Over to say
She’s changed her mind
So, I wait in the dark
Listening for her
Instead of my old man saying stop…
Kidding yourself
Wasting your time
There’s nothing else I can do
‘Cause I’m doing it all for Leyna
I don’t want anyone new
‘Cause I’m living it all for Leyna
There’s nothing in it for you
‘Cause I’m giving it all to Leyna
All to Leyna
All to Leyna

Billy Joel is a confident artist, and this is evident in his work.

Glasshouses and innocent man

Keyboard & vocal on this is just pure magic.

Billy Joel’s most under appreciated song. God, it’s just the best.
yes, totally underrated!
Glass Houses is such a great album. All For Leyna is still one of my favorite Billy Joel songs.
My name is Leyna so this song makes me feel special 😆😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The beginning with him standing up is so weird and so 80s I love it
By far a hidden gem that never was made into a hit. One of his greatest songs and far better than alot of his other songs that were hits.
Never released as a single in the USA.
Released as a single in the UK but didn't chart well
This is my undisputed FAVORITE Billy Joel song of all time 💓🙌💓
So under-rated!!!
Not sure about the instruments, but the vocal on this is definitely live, no lip synch or autotune. Top notch performance.
