It's super exciting to jump right into the new project car and get my hands dirty. After hearing a very squeaky tensioner pulley I decided to overhaul all the belts and tensioners and in this video I break it down step by step for your wrenching pleasure.

Very good video. Excellent camera work as well as talk through. I know it's a challenge getting good footage of such tight areas.
I gotta do this job soon and now I know exactly what to do. Would love to see more content related to that engine.
Means a lot, huge thanks! 🙏🏽
Just bought an e38. Great Video
Great cars. You’re gonna fall in love with it!
Thanks for uploading this video. It was very helpful and greatly appreciated.
You're very welcome!
Nicely done. I've been trying to get clear information on this all day, in order to get to the coolant line that snakes behind the pulley down to the transmission cooler (got a mystery leak somewhere). From your video, I've determined that breaking the two 13mm bolts loose, toss the main belt off, then remove the Water Pump Pulley to get a straight shot to the Trans Cooler Line Mounting Bolt. In theory, it SHOULD come right off.
Hi will fo
You can buy proper 32mm viscous fan spanner set/wrench set here on ebay to lock the waterpump pulley and loosen the clutch fan in a few seconds. I can put a link if you wish or you can check on my channel. Good to see you are replacing these old worn pulleys. The bearings were definitely toast.🤜🤛
Perez, don't stop what you're doing with your e38 channel. Learning so much invaluable content. It's not even about saving $ with mechanics - it's enjoying the process of building and knowing how to maintain your e38. Thank you
Oh man thank you so much bro, it means a lot to hear people in the community are enjoying the content!!!
Great video. I have a e38 as well.
They are great cars
Bimmer gang e38 for the win
2000 740 il AMAZING hints and relaxed PRO video ty for the trick with alternator , belt wrap to remove cooling fan .....
Thank you! Appreciate it!
Glad it helped! Don't forget to leave a like or subscribe
Nice vid. Something I don't see anyone every comment on is the tensioner shock bolts tightening sequence. They are pivots points in the tensioner operation as well. Seems like they should be loose until the tensioner arm is locked into place, then the shock bolts could be tightened. Sounds good, probably no access coupled with only tiny rotation in shock mount bolts. I am doing that job tomorrow and will take a closer look at this idea.
Report back!
The size of belt tensioner.. Compressor.. Please
This is really well done bro! Good job
Thanks dude, hope to see more content from you as well
A 1/14 wrench doesn’t seem to fit my ‘96 740IL fan clutch…what gives?
What size is it instead? There might be slight changes in the pre-facelift cars
@@ARPerez Thinking 36mm, but not sure. Thanks!
Excellent and clearly explained video. Thanks so much.
Oh man thank you o much, appreciate the support and subscribe
How in the world do you wrap that belt on the water cooler pulley?
With lots of patience lol
Can’t the belt be removed through the fan blades?
Have not tried, I imagine it would be a tight fit but it should work
Keep it up brother...
Professional job 👏
Thanks man, I try to make it as helpful as possible
super!
Thanks! 🙏🏽
