Debo, can you do a 1 hour challenge with your top 5 soft plastics? One rule: Can’t use it as a trailer. Must be Texas, Carolina, wacky etc. Just not as a trailer.
Loved the video! Just getting back into Fishing this year! Going to experiment with different types of Soft Plastics. And also trying to save myself some money! I did purchase probably more than I need! I will use what I have for now. But on that note I should have only bought what I think I will use all the time. And not over load myself in tackle! Thanks for sharing this video!
Yea, most anglers are quite guilty of it. Beat thing to do is sell/give away what you don't use and put that toward what you need. Thanks for watching and good luck this year.
I would love to see a TRD Crawz vs Gary Yamamoto Psychodad vid. I saw a vid of the GY psychodad neko rigged and it looked awesome. Going to try that out soon. Keep up the vids, I’m digging the content!
'Some people say I only catch dinks'. Hilarious! Keep up the great vids! So ready for spring. It's so close. How's the water levels around ur area. Been seeing some crazy stuff. Hope all is well!
I have good luck with Z Man StreakZ 4" Curly tail with a belly weighted hook. The tail on those have so much action, and you can work them like a jig, or just crank them in at a medium pace. I catch more on chartreuse an black/purple.
Hey Debro! Thanks for sharing your top 3 with us! It should give some of the newest guys a great place to start researching from (look these techniques up from Debo's RUclips archive first and you will be off to a great start) and more seasoned anglers a view into what you do to get those wheels rolling. Well done again and as always Debo! My top finesse rigs to try out first this spring are: 1) Ned rig w/crawz 2) drop shot 3) finesse lipless crankbaits 4) finesse football jig #Debonator #DeboNation #itisalmostspringnow!
Great content ! Currently doing well with these in Kentucky: -Strike King supa fry in a watermelon color rigged weightless wacky -FYAO devil bug in motor-oil color on a Ned rig/wacky -Texas rig 1/16oz zoom 6” lizard in cotton candy chartreuse color
Last year was my first experience with the Ned rig. Love it now! I discovered that if I let it hit bottom and just wiggle the tip a little bit now and then and drag, repeat a couple time before reeling in I definitely got some bits I wouldn't have.
I LOVE this video. This really hit home for me. For some reason I could not catch fish early last Spring unless I was finesse fishing. Thanks to your video last year the Ned was my secret(not so secret weapon). Definitely my top bait of 2018. Caught several Bass both Largemouth and Smallmouth between 1-4 lbs. I even got many Channel Cats, Crappies and Perch. A couple Walleyes too! I also caught my first artificial Flathead Catfish weighing 10 pounds on a Ned. Can’t wait to see your 2019 fishing successes!!
Always always always appreciate all the support on my vids brother. Yea, the ned is a great little bait. This year I'm going to try to tackle this dropshot deal 🤣 Thanks again my friend 👊👊👊
Thanks for watching brother. Dude! The old school ball head and grub are completely forgotten. Used to be one of the main things I would throw back in the day!
Absolutely. Unless you're a northern small mouth guy...you don't hear about them. I'm guilty of not fishing them but I've had a ton of success over the years with them too. Thanks for watching man.
1) Coppertruese is the money for me from Z-man. People don't credit the ned rig enough, and it can catch you 'small fish', but it also catches the lethargic ones. 2) Everyone should fish ball-headed jigs more. If it's good enough for Gerald Swindle, it should be good enough for everyone else. If I am fishing a jig, it's a 5/16th finesse cut jig or a 3/8 to 1/2 oz Strike King Hack Attack jig. 3) I can't say anything about the senko that hasn't been said before. It's a flippin' senko. Wacky rigged stick baits during the pre-spawn/spawn will always catch you feesh.
Agreed, I feel like they are an underdog. I'll throw those over a regular stick bait any day. Thanks for watching man. Hopefully going trout fishing this weekend. Changed up my rigs, lines, and lures from your suggestion. Also watched some realistic fishing on stocked trout. Thanks again for the help and tips brother!
3" Keitech little spider is going to be my fineness go to this year. Otherwise my plan is for my subtle approach will be a hud weedless gill. Then onto a jackall gantarel and then onto the gigantarel. Lol want a new pb this year. Lol. Also gotta get hooks on your stuff so I can get it sent up there. Good stuff tho. Have a good'n brother!
I haven't thrown hula grubs in some time. They are good fish catchers. Hahah I like your "subtle" swimbait approach 🤣 Heck yea, excited to check out your baits!
UPDATE On the Bass Pro Qualifier 2: figured all the brakes after watching a few of your old videos and man these reels are SMOOOOOTH, didn't catch anything yet, but they are worth the 99.95
Poor Debo and all these tutorial vids, I know you want to get out and fish. I’m not much of a finesse guy but when I do in the early spring it’s a stick bait Neko rigged or a 1/8 or 3/16oz finesse jig. But I’m generally a reaction bait guy, jerkbaits a d lipless cranks.
I am as well but I'm NEVER ashamed to pick up a spinning rig and get finessey. I'm just more comfortable with a baitcaster. Yea, should be able to fish soon!
Hi Debo I have too many choices so I will just let you pick one you like. I bass fish and I fly fish and many fly anglers look down their arrogant noses at anglers that chuck rubber worms and baits made from plastic and wood. However, I like fishing of every kind. Casting tiny flies will instill a few things that bass anglers overlook. Fineness fishing as a rule requires light line and smaller lures. Light line as in small diameter line. I caught plenty of Steelhead using four and six pound line using hooks from size 16 to size 12 when forced to use them or never hook a fish. The same is true for bass fishing. If you can land a crazy 8-pound Steelhead, this means you have an equal chance to land a bass of the same size. Any lure starting at ¼oz and smaller with ten-pound braid works wonders. Tiny buzz baits, top water baits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and plastics lets you fish water as deep as 12-feet. Tiny line makes any lure perform better. The technique that can fish both shallow and deep is a drop shot rig as boring as it is. Ned the turd is ok on hard bottom but the drop shot is just better for fishing grass, deep water, and fish in a catatonic state. The big mistake when using a drop shot is shaking the hell out of it. Drop shot baits do not need your help they move no matter how still you try to hold them. You will miss half the fish that bite while you wiggle and jiggle your line. Cast it to a place you think a fish could be, let hit bottom, and wait as long as you can while leaving only enough slack in the line as not to move the bait. Bass will slam the hell out of it sometimes and sometimes you will just feel a tick. Do not yank just reel tight and the fish will do the rest. You do not even have use spinning rods if you do not like them because bait caster called BFS reels will work perfect for people who loath using spinning tackle.
Once again, a wealth of information man. A lot of good points and I appreciate that. Yea, the drop shot is the one finesse rig I really want to put a lot of time in with this year. The simplicity of the presentation is wonderful. However, the rigging is not as sime as just tying on a shaky head. You snag it and you have to re-tie the leader, get the hook tied, figure out how far you want the weight down, then try not to lose 64 weights in an hour of fishing it 🤣 I know it is a fish catcher, I've just lost patience for it. Procrastination is not an excuse, this will be the year of the drop shot!
Junebug is pretty good for dark water also. I haven't had any luck with watermelon red flake in clear water. lol. I don't even break that color out anymore. Awesome video none the less.
Junebug is great for dark water. No luck on the watermelon? That's crazy, one of my favs. All just depends on what works for you. No "right" way to fish. Thanks for watching man.
I have just about the same setup for spring. Love my jigs and always have a finesse one at least handy if not tied on for the upcoming trips. Ned rig I have caught a lot of fish on and have that tied on actually almost all year long. Need to work on my senko game this year. I have been using small lizards and have gotten some on those. Nice video sir.
Going to a smaller paddle-tail swimbait, or a smaller stickbait helps me out in the grassy areas I fish in, and a drop-shot can work wonders (just saying, haha). I'm working on my jig game recently, and saw the value in down sizing. I was using a 3/8oz jig and trailer, but it kept collecting too much algae, so I downsized to a 1/4oz jig and trailer and caught some.
Guess what! Guess what!! Debo I took your great idea of adding eyes to plastic swimbaits to another level. I removed the eyes of your favorite Miyagi swimmer and added big 9-milimeter eyes. I used the eyes from them on Magic Flick drop shot minnows and the difference is amazing. Adding eyes to flies always made them more effective and the bigger the better. Try it; see for yourself, they make a real difference. You can get 3D reflective eyes on E-Bay of all sizes by the hundred for dollar and a little more for the larger sizes. But-a-Boom-But a-Bing adding Bling makes swimbaits King.
I need to throw the fluke more. Admittedly, I don't think about throwing it. I usually reach for that reaction innovations pocket rocket. Thanks for watching man 👊
Been killing them on the ned rig, but in my lake I have to use a jig head that has a weedgaurd. I found that the Nichols clent ned jig works best for me. I like the fiber weedgaurd better than the wire style and the hook is stronger. The do cost a bit more though.
Well I know I'll be throwin 1/8 oz shakey head + zman finesses worms. I only started throwin shakey heads last year. I'll be throwin tiny spinner baits, and inline spinners as well, probably some chatter baits, since I picked up some of them.
@@DEBOSFishing you don't really need stuff other than a shakey head, but it's good to add different things to your arsenal, and learn how to use them. There will be a time when something else will work better than a shakey head. A time when it is a little bit breezy with some chop on the water, and everything seems to get caught on a small inline spinner, lobbed under over hanging trees, from the kayak. I had such a day last year, and was throwing the spinner with BFS baitcasting gear. Was so sweet.
i caught my new pb today was awesome, 8.34lb on a med diving round bill crank bait, delta craw colored ima pinjack crank. thought it was funny bc i caught my last pb on the same lure last year.
@@DEBOSFishing i came across them at a fishing show and bought a handful of them and have had pretty good luck with them. I didnt get any of their flit jerkbaits but I plan on trying one out.
If you're going to do it every year, you're better off to get a spool pin tool. I think they are like $15. But if you ruin one spool, it will cost more than that to replace.
Ned rigs are cool, but a short piece of any fat worm that sinks rigged weed less or with an exposed hook will work without fail. I figured this out about the time these fat worms showed up at Walmart. I was catching bass like mad on these worms in early spring and I just kept biting off the torn up piece because I am cheap. They became even better as they slowly got shorter. Ta-da. Then someone named them Ned and made a fortune selling the dam things. Colors no one uses that work for me. Sweet-Tader-Pie, Bubble-Gum, Girly Pink. They catch everything and work when only an inch is left. They are fish Kielbasa, add a skirt and you get the sauerkraut. Today is remember Dottie day for me. Sorry Debo I may become annoying.
Hahah all good brother. I used to do the same as a kid. Take a regular ball jig and put a soft plastic on it. Drag it around until you get bit. I had no worries or adult obligations so I didn't mind trying stuff.
Thank you very much man. It's all around us. Thanks goodness we are clear. Out town experienced horrific flooding a number of years ago. The devastation is unimaginable. Everything you own and have worked so hard for in your life...gone in a matter of minutes. Thanks for watching and keep those folks in your thoughts tonight.
I classify it as something I'm covering water with to find aggressive fish. Spinnerbait, chatterbait, crankbait, etc. As opposed to a Texas rigged worm or Shakey head where I'm targeting specific spots and often fishing much slower. Thanks for watching man.
I think I may be able to sympathize with you on that one, fellow feeshin friend! I am just waiting for the ice out to get over with here in Indiana. Tight lines!
@@strohmster nice! I'm excited to test mine. No Lew's doesn't make them. I believe they are made in the same factory though. Doyo, Banax, etc. make reels for a number of different companies.
DEBO*** A Day to Remember in Bass Fishing History March 20, 2006: Mac Weakley was fishing Dixon Lake California, with Mike Winn and Jed Dickerson. Mr. Weakly hooked a largemouth bass. Weighing 25 pounds, 1 ounce when he weighed her on his digital scale. Breaking the world record by almost three pounds. Sadly, the 25-pound Largemouth was foul-hooked. His jig hooked the fish outside the mouth. Because of the California fishing, regulations the bass was not legally hooked inside the mouth and had to be release. The fish was named Dottie, because of a distinguishing marking she had. Dottie was found dead two years later May 8, 2008 floating in front of a dock. Her age was estimated to be 15 to 17 years old. Dottie may not be in the record book but she is still the biggest Largemouth Bass ever recorded and should be remember for that alone.
I have been using a Ned rig and getting 0 bites in water with vegetation, when I switch to a chatter-bait ill catch a PB immediately why is the Ned rig letting me down man :(
A recommended video you should make is like the three best crappie baits because in Oklahoma right now its warming up fast and the are starting to spawn!!!!!!!!!!
The color could certainly be the issue. The biggest thing is to just fish it slow on the bottom. If you're getting stuck in vegetation all the time, better to use a different bait. The jig head really depends what your fishing around. Flipping heads are better for wood. Football heads are better for rock.
Why you should try single hooks I have rigged up some of my Rattletraps with inline VMC large ring single hooks. I am sure they will end or reduce fish shaking off lipless baits. They also should reduce snagging when fished thru cover. I put one inside my hand and cannot pull it thru my hand without one or both hooks snagging me. Remember: most states fishing laws state: (any) fish hooked outside the mouth is considered snagged and must be released immediately. This means if you catch a new state record and it has hooks stuck on the outside someone is going to dispute your new state record and you are pretty much screwed. State Fish commissions require witnesses and or taking a polygraph test before awarding any new state record. So, if they CSI your fish and find a hook wound on the outside of your trophy they can and will fine you for an illegally caught fish. This is going from a Hero to a Zero and that would be worse than not catching a record size fish at all.
@@DEBOSFishing Why do you fish in rain, cold, burning sun and get up at 3am to go fishing. I know why. Your next cast may be the one to make history. Fishing requires nothing more than willingness to succeed. I hope the next time you go fishing you make another fishing memory.
I appreciate your opinion. I think the definition is different for everyone. The lure itself may not be a "finesse" size, but the presentation is. Finesse - verb 1. do (something) in a subtle and delicate manner. A presentation doesn't get much more subtle and delicate than a worm that barely shimmys on the way down. Just my opinion and it's different for everyone. Thanks for watching man.
Hahah I need to make a separate video on this. It's a jab at folks who made fun of my "feeshin" channel when I first started. I'm aware of the correct pronunciation for "fishing". Thanks for watching man 👊

In the lakes/ponds I fish it has to be weedless. Shaky head and Texas rigs. Small weedless swim bait setups too.
Yep, those are all great options! I fish a lot of grassy lakes too.
Finesse paddle tails, finesse jigs, and some type of stick baits for a spring bite. My opinion though.

Nice! Yea, fishing really shallow it can help to go lighter. Yea this drop shot thing that folks talk about...🤣 Thanks for watching Russell.
Ned rig is awesome i just started fishing it and it totally catches fish!
Agreed man. A simple silly looking rig but man it catches fish! Thanks for watching!
Shaky head & black trick worm. Going to throw the ned rig more this year. Hard to get away from your favorites.
Yea, it is very hard to break the cycle. Best way to get better is to only go out with the ned rig as your finesse option. Thanks for watching!
Thanks debo
Thank you for watching sir!
Nice debo. I've got some bfs stuff sitting around and I'm looking to throw some finesse rigs on it. Thanks for the ideas.
Nice! That will be fun on a BFS setup. Thanks for watching man.
@@DEBOSFishing I'm thinking even a 1 lb bass will feel like a monster on light tackle.
@@hooksethijinx4769 they are definitely fun on light tackle.
Love it! I feel like they can make a difference in cleaner water. Maybe it's just in my head but I still do it.
@@DEBOSFishing No it works and is worth the time it takes
Agree, but would add the shakey head to my list,
I used to fish that over the ned rig because of the weedless applications. Either one will get bit!
Just started Ned rig last year had great luck with a small company that makes what they call Ned monsters
Oh nice man, it's definitely a fish catching rig.
Dang homie calling me out!!!! Ps war eagle jigs are the best IMO just went to BPS and picked up a bunch
Hhaha only because I love ya brother. Yea man, glad you gave me one a long time ago! I'm a fan!
Thanks.
You're welcome 👊
Weightless fluke is my go to finesse. Color depends on water color.
I need to throw the fluke more. Admittedly, I don't think about throwing it. I usually reach for that reaction innovations pocket rocket. Thanks for watching man 👊
Awesome video debo keep it up man
Another great video Debo.... and like my wife always says "size DOES matter" so I guess that carries over in stick-baits too? LOL....
Hahah uhhh...I think it's more the motion of the stick bait 🤣 Thanks for watching.
Hard to beat a drop shot for finesse
Everyone tells me that....ugh...I'm late to the drop shot game. Better late than never lol.
Try out the boss ball head finesse jig heads from tackle warehouse. Light wire hook and great hook set!
Been killing them on the ned rig, but in my lake I have to use a jig head that has a weedgaurd. I found that the Nichols clent ned jig works best for me. I like the fiber weedgaurd better than the wire style and the hook is stronger. The do cost a bit more though.
Nice, I'll have to check those out. There is a company that makes ned heads with an EWG hook so they are weedless. I need to check those out too!
@@DEBOSFishing I saw Those too but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Well I know I'll be throwin 1/8 oz shakey head + zman finesses worms. I only started throwin shakey heads last year. I'll be throwin tiny spinner baits, and inline spinners as well, probably some chatter baits, since I picked up some of them.
Nice, I like those picks man. For the longest i didnt think you needed anything besides a shaky head. Good to mix it up!
@@sgtpavlov I completely agree man. There are days where that slight change up makes all the difference!
i caught my new pb today was awesome, 8.34lb on a med diving round bill crank bait, delta craw colored ima pinjack crank. thought it was funny bc i caught my last pb on the same lure last year.
Nice dude, that's a chunk. I haven't used any of the IMA lures. I need to look them up.
@@DEBOSFishing i came across them at a fishing show and bought a handful of them and have had pretty good luck with them. I didnt get any of their flit jerkbaits but I plan on trying one out.
Thanks man 🤙
Thanks for watching man!
Gotta ask what happened with you and kastking? I don’t really hear you mention them as much. Great vid
I'm trying all kinds of different gear now. Thanks for watching man.
a new reel for your $100 videos is the abu garcia revo4 x i have one and it's nice
I do have a revo x and it will definitely be in an upcoming video! Thanks for watching man!
I catch far more fish using a cut down yum dinger than I do the TRDs. the TRDs also seem to have low melting point in the heat.
The Bass pro shops stick bait in pool test has as good a fall action as a senko and half the price.
I would believe it. They have caught a bunch of fish for me over the years. Thanks for watching man 👊
debo i watched your video when you took apart your speed spool and i wanted to clean mine but i can't get the spool pin off to clean the bearing
If you're going to do it every year, you're better off to get a spool pin tool. I think they are like $15. But if you ruin one spool, it will cost more than that to replace.
thanks for the tip@@DEBOSFishing
I would rather catch dinks instead of nothing at all lol
Haha I hear ya man. It's all about enjoying your time out. It's different for everyone.
Rage trailers ONLY, the vibration is perfect and you don’t even need a jig to run them, bass kill em
Drop shot, small paddle tail, and.....oh drop shot 😁
Debo i hope youre not in the flood zone area bro. Cannot believe the devastation.
Thank you very much man. It's all around us. Thanks goodness we are clear. Out town experienced horrific flooding a number of years ago. The devastation is unimaginable. Everything you own and have worked so hard for in your life...gone in a matter of minutes. Thanks for watching and keep those folks in your thoughts tonight.
i fkin love you debo
Hahah thanks brother, appreciate you watching 👊
What is considered a "search" bait?
I classify it as something I'm covering water with to find aggressive fish. Spinnerbait, chatterbait, crankbait, etc. As opposed to a Texas rigged worm or Shakey head where I'm targeting specific spots and often fishing much slower. Thanks for watching man.
👍🤔
😉👊
I'm trying tube baits this year....trying alot of new things......still too much snow outside.......puke
I think I may be able to sympathize with you on that one, fellow feeshin friend! I am just waiting for the ice out to get over with here in Indiana.
Tight lines!
Nice! Tubes are killer, especially for small jaws. Yea, c'mon warm weather!
Where do you live in Iowa? My local lake is lake view
Nice man. I'm over by cedar rapids.
Have had a chance to use the Kastking Bassinator yet?
No I haven't. The last baitcaster I got was the BPS Pro Qualifier. Thanks for watching man.
@@DEBOSFishing i like my bass pro qualifier. I was told that Lews make them for bass pro.
@@strohmster nice! I'm excited to test mine. No Lew's doesn't make them. I believe they are made in the same factory though. Doyo, Banax, etc. make reels for a number of different companies.

A Day to Remember in Bass Fishing History
March 20, 2006: Mac Weakley was fishing Dixon Lake California, with Mike Winn and Jed Dickerson.
Good lord? I'm hoping someone grabbed her and had a replica made!
@@DEBOSFishingI do not know. Do you know how big the state record fish is in your state ? Bass fishing is more fun the more you learn about it.
@@gizmocarr3093 10 lb 10 or 12 oz is the record. I've got my work cut out for me hahah
I have been using a Ned rig and getting 0 bites in water with vegetation, when I switch to a chatter-bait ill catch a PB immediately why is the Ned rig letting me down man :(
Maybe its because my only color I can buy is PB&J
And lastly is the finesse flipping jig better than a finesse football jig whats the difference?
I wish I could buy a shroom head jig but we don't have em in my town :(
A recommended video you should make is like the three best crappie baits because in Oklahoma right now its warming up fast and the are starting to spawn!!!!!!!!!!
The color could certainly be the issue. The biggest thing is to just fish it slow on the bottom. If you're getting stuck in vegetation all the time, better to use a different bait. The jig head really depends what your fishing around. Flipping heads are better for wood. Football heads are better for rock.
Where can i buy one of those hats
Hit up the dude at lookin4fish on Instagram. Couple of good dudes I met last year. They will take care of you. Thanks for watching man!
Thank you brother
Feeeeshin Freinds ?
Yee yee! Are you a feeshin friend?
Why you should try single hooks
I have rigged up some of my Rattletraps with inline VMC large ring single hooks.
I won't ever catch anything that would rival a state record. Heck, I'm just hoping to catch at least one double digit bass in my lifetime!
@@DEBOSFishing Why do you fish in rain, cold, burning sun and get up at 3am to go fishing. I know why. Your next cast may be the one to make history. Fishing requires nothing more than willingness to succeed. I hope the next time you go fishing you make another fishing memory.
@@DEBOSFishing I hope you do. Because you have the same chance anyone else has.

I hate to be that guy.. but finesse is trying to rig a #12 hook not using half feet long worms
I appreciate your opinion. I think the definition is different for everyone. The lure itself may not be a "finesse" size, but the presentation is.
Finesse - verb
1.
do (something) in a subtle and delicate manner.
A presentation doesn't get much more subtle and delicate than a worm that barely shimmys on the way down. Just my opinion and it's different for everyone. Thanks for watching man.
