If my wife ever has an issue with my slowly growing tackle, I'm gonna show her the first part of this video 😁 Mr. Debo, another awesome video for a guy new to fishing. Thank you!
The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!
Tackle Warehouse needs to sponsor you Debo. You are hands down my favorite fishing youtube guy. I learn a lot and you act like a normal fisherman who's down to earth and just having fun. Excellent job as always and thanks for doing it. Really helping this new to bass fishing angler.
Debo, friendo! First time caller, long time listener! I tried the wacky rig for the first time today. Caught 6 bass in 20 minutes! Ran out of daylight :'( Thank you for your videos! If you're ever in the Raleigh area!
I just bought a bunch of tackle for wacky rigging and I knew you were the place to go to learn the tips and tricks! Thank you sir, you did not disappoint!!!
When I got back into fishing a couple years ago and I was building my arsenal, I asked several people and everyone said you have to have a wacky rig. Boy have they been right, has been my confidence lure for sure.
The weightless wacky rig ( yamasenko in green pumpkin w purple flake )has definitely been my confidence lure this summer. I caught my first one in June and have been catching them consistently every time I go fishing. Especially when they won’t bite anything and they are acting slow and finicky. .PERFECT for a new fisherman like me
I had assumed that the GY baits were mostly hype, but yesterday I grabbed a bag of the green pumpkin purple then stopped by the pond. around 6 casts wacky rigged and I caught a 3lber so I'm a believer lol
How are you not sponsored? You have the best fishing for dummies advice on all of RUclips. Keep up the great content. Looking forward to a Ned rig video!!
Seen a lot of people says the same thing about the weedless wacky hook. Another great video. Love it when you do teaching videos. Thats what makes you awesome. Keep up the great work. 👍👍👍
This was perfect and spot on! I showed this to my son because I tell him this all the time, but he does his own thing when fishing with the wacky rig...
I've always had really good luck wacky rigging a finesse work (like trickworm) I don't throw the hook center mass tho. I'll lightly pinch it and just try to bounce it up and down in my fingers to find the center weight wise. I love for equal movement on both ends and I hook it once I find that spot. I than cast it out weightless, and rod tip down and have a constant but very slow reel pulling it in. As I do this I very lightly twitch the rod tip and I swear, once you get the hang of it the worm has the "shimmy" action 100% of the time like it does when it first starts to sink. This has been the most successful method for me, really it works well with about any style of trickworm (I prefer the cheap havocs) and I've not wanted to spend $8 on a bag of senkos in years. Next time you are out give it a shot, try it in some cleaner water tho so you can watch it to see the action so you get a feel of what that specific worm needs in terms of reeling and rod twitching.
I spent this summer experimenting with wacky rig hooks and baits. I landed on the VMC weedless neko as well, size 2. Close second was the Gamakatsu g-finesse weedless wacky, size 1/0. I also found that rigging trick worms through the thin part without o-rings were surprisingly durable with those VMC hooks. The weed guard "assembly" doesn't allow the worm to travel up the line and get cut in half when the fish jumps. They just stay on that light wire hook. Re-rig when slightly torn. Multiple fish per bait usually when using trick worms. When they do tear and you can retrieve it, bonus ned rig bait!
Debo my man you have done it again. Great information in the video. I used your 2 O-ring method on my wacky rig and 🎆 BAM caught 1 in the first 27 minutes then 2 more and they were getting bigger to about 2 1/2 lbs. Then I got slammed and faught a monster just for a moment cuz it snapped my line. I tied right back up and caught my 4th in about 2 hrs and the last 1 was 17.50" and 3.54 lbs. I appreciate your work my man. I'll post pics on my IG to see.
The wacky rig is my go-to on rivers and any kind of water with current. Weightless.. Has to be. Crazy action and can fishing both the middle and bottom column of the water.
God bless you for posting this video LOL...I've fished O rings on wacky worms forever and have never seen someone demonstrate how to x-cross them. I've probably torn up a bucket full of worms over the years trying to get them crossed.
Great video Debo. I use the wacky setup with my dropshot rig. A number 2 hook, 1/8 oz weight, and a watermelon with red flake stick bait = lmb killer here in Oregon. Instead of the bait resting on the bottom, the bait sits up so I can pop the rod one, two, or three times to make the bait dance. Sometimes that short, quick, one pop gets bit. Nice spinning combo too. Thanks for all you do for us man. 😁👍
Woooowww!!! That was a SPECTACULAR vidDEBO !!!!!!! I didn’t your teaching needed to get better but it SURE HAS!! Thanks for caring about us so much. It really shows. 😍😍😍
@@DEBOSFishing Whatever I can do, whenever I can, Cuz!!!! BTW , my comp fizzled and still got some health things, BUT I AM still working in that tshirt!!
I just saw someone else use a little bit of 3/8" heat shrink in the middle of the wacky rigged worm instead of rings. He said it makes the lure far more durable. Might be worth a try.
Thanks for this video, I enjoyed it. I have caught hundreds of bass using the O-ring system, but after a decade of fishing wacky rigs, I think it's better to use the clear shrink tube that I purchased on Amazon. A half inch piece centered on the worm and heated to size. Skin hook the shrink tube and you have a system that has an incredibly high hook up percentage, you can sometimes fish all day with a single worm, and it's invisible to the fish. Keep the videos coming!
Great advice here Debo. I like a GYBC Senko, BPS Stik-O, Yum Dinger or a Berkley General stick worm. I use an Owner 1 or 1/0 Camo wacky rig hook or a Eagle Claw 1 or 1/0 weedless hook around a lot of grass. As far as colors go, when the bite is on it doesn’t matter it could be neon rainbow and it would work. In tough conditions nothing beats green pumpkin.
Hey Debo. My favorite Wacky Rig hook is Gamakatsu wide gap finesse hook weedless. You have to bend the little double wire down where it attaches to the hook so it will catch on the barb. It works great around all the grass in Sacramento Delta and hook up percentage is excellent. I prefer 1/0 for Sencos.
11:22-I'm on my 2nd round for this video. As u showing what rig to use and leader line and Alberto Knot. Just learned the Alberto Knot today from your friend Ben MFer. I just went through the Leader Knot ending up on my spool, Spinning Rod, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get cast distance, it was the Leader Knot hanging my line on the spool during casting. My Leader Line Too Long 👍👍.
I bought my kid a shimano sellus rod and a pflueger president reel and he throws a wacky 90% of the time and usually catches more fish than me. Thanks for the great videos.
Always been curious about wacky, never tried it until this summer. Went for the O tool immediately, got the green pumpkin KVD stick bait and beat my stepdad for the first time in a good while. It’s a powerful tool and I enjoy catching the fish on lighter gear. Cheers.
Thanks for a great video. I've caught a load of fidh on the wacky rig last week using a Berkley straight money worm close to reeds. It's my confidence rig
Thank so much for this tips. I got my first Bass on a wacky rig today. I had been using a hook without weight but it took forever to go deep. The weighted hook worked amazingly. Keep up the good work brother.
You get sub, finally someone who can explain things in an understandable and tailored to noob status way. I catch em but I know I am terrible at fishing still compared to where I need to be, getting past all of the learning curve stuff can be brutal so thanks for explaining it simply and clearly. I noticed recently the same thing, I was messing with the baits way too much, had to slow it down (part of this is not rigging correctly so my baits would be hard to control in the right ways and not get caught up on stuff). I test action often times against any fish that I can spot to get a feel for how much action is too much, and you realllyyyyy gotta be subtle, at least when they have good visibility.
I caught a PB (such as it is, 4LB 18") on a 5" green pumpkin with chartreuse tail Yum Dinger wacky rigged under a slip bobber. I threw it up current with some extra slack and just let it float along while I was cranking the other way. LOL!
Braces rubber bands make for a perfect replacement to the O-rings. They are very elastic and durable, and come in different colors, strengths, and sizes.
Thanks for posting this Debo! Good info regarding how to fish it. I fish one particular body of water where the senko is money, but for me it’s received by bass like a rubber check. Btw, you asked how we rig our senkos. I use the the two ring crossover like you do or the Frenzy wacky saddle which works well for hook placement and ease of use. It seems like all water around me has all kinds of grass, algae, etc. so I always use something weedless like an EWG, or weedless lead head hook.
I got some senkos in my monsterbass box, i made sure to buy your recommended wacky rig tool and o rings, Im going out this weekend to see how I fare. Thanks for all the great content debo!
I personally use the Woo Tungsten wacky hooks. They work well to keeps you getting hung up on rocks or weeds and I prefer to throw wacky rigs with an extremely light weight.
Instead of using O-rings try using shrink tubing (used in electronics to shield wires near a terminal). Just cut a thin piece of tubing, slip it over the Senko worm dead center and use a lighter to heat shrink it (careful to not melt the worm). When you run your hook through that the material holds the hook superior to anything else I have ever tried. Hook won't back out, is at a right angle to the worm, can't be ripped out either because that shrink tubing is tough stuff. Your line will break but the hook will be in that worm guaranteed. My gear is the $52 6' 6" Ugly Stick. Also using the braided line but using 20lbs but can go as low as 15lbs. When I wind that line onto the open face real I make sure my string is coming off counter clockwise with the spool laying flat on the ground. This is the way the string comes off the real too so its not getting twisted as its wound on. There are specific weeds to look for, I forget what they are called but you could look it up. When you see a group of them coming out into the water your base will be at its edge (usually shallow water so make sure its early morning and cooler temps when Bass come to shallow water. Late evening works well with temps too.) During the heat of the day fish deep water. They are in their beds most likely so if the water is clear enough try to find them dark circles on the sandy/muddy bottom. Learned a lot from your video. Thanks!
Have you considered using heat shrink tubing for your wacky rigs? I got some clear tubing and a heat gun, cut a 1/2” piece of heat shrink and hook into the middle of the worm through the tube. Helps with worm durability and the clear tube doesn’t distort the color. It’s an alternative option 😁
The wacky is my confidence lure for sure, I prefer throwing it on my casting gear, the Tatula sv on a Castaway med fast rod works great for skipping docks
This is extremely helpful! Haven’t seen a lot of guides for wacky rig stuff that explains things easy like you have. I can’t wait to try this out next year!
Wanted to thank you for that double O Ring tip. Just getting started in the sport of fishing. Gave up trying to be good at golf. I’m quickly learning it can be just as expensive as golf 😂
Debo, thank you so much for covering the wacky rig. Once again full of good to know info A-Z. Started using wacky this year & I think it’s awesome. Especially on those slow bite days when nothing is working you can usually get a few on it. Keep’em comin!!! GO HAWKS!!!
Great informational vid. Always enjoy yours! Learn something every time. Eagle Claw 1 or 2 ought weedless hooks (Wally World cheapies) are all I use. If I want weighted I’ll use a teeny tiny pinch sinker just above the knot. Can’t wait til you post the vid where you catch 30 some feesh on the old wacky rig😎✌️.

You're welcome, should help them last a good bit longer!
Debo, thank you so much for covering the wacky rig. Once again full of good to know info A-Z. Started using wacky this year & I think it’s awesome. Especially on those slow bite days when nothing is working you can usually get a few on it. Keep’em comin!!! GO HAWKS!!!
Go Hawks! 👊
Thanks for going in depth with fishing gear love your advice man!
Debo. Another great and helpful episode. You are becoming my favorite fishing RUclipsr.
Appreciate that more than you know 👊
Great informational vid.
