Hey, Debo's! Thanks, So much for helping me up my game in Bass fishing. One year ago I was fishing only Spin casters. You opened my eyes up to stepping up my game. My friend bought me a Quantum Pulse Bait caster reel. Put in on a Ugly Stick medium heavy 6'6 rod. Started out on 12 pd mono and trying to cast a Senko Texas rigged. After maybe 5 cast with the new reel. I was getting the hang of it. I never looked back! Practice, Practice, Practice. My Father started me on the 3/4 oz Rattle Traps a long time ago. I am 59 years old now. So learning to change my fishing technics after all this time. Took some effort and it was worth it. Now I still have the spin caster and rod for lipless crank baits and spinnerbaits. But now own two baitcaster reel's The Quantum Pulse and my new Quantum ACCURIST PT S3 baitcaster reel and using 20 pd braid. Both on Berkley Cherry wood medium heavy 6'6 rod's. Bought a few Red eye lipless crank bait's and Rattle Traps at Academy Sports Warehouse. I believe in breaking my PB will be alot easier with the great info you have on You tube. Keep up the great work. I only bank fish now. That's why I don't have any rod over 6'6 in height. See Ya! At the Lake's. Shawn
I seriously owe a debt of gratitude towards you and all the hard work you put into your channel. I could not have had the awesome year I had growing in the sport without your help and enthusiasm. Keep it up brother. 🎣
Comments like this are why I do it. Love hearing that folks have success at something they enjoy doing because of my help. Appreciate you always supporting my channel man! 👊
I love your insight videos! I am a midwestern angler who is just getting back into fishing after years of inactivity. I am learning a lot from watching these videos. Thank you for taking your time to explain and demo so many different things. I can’t wait to stock up this winter on some of the lures you recommend and to get out on the bank and fish more come spring!
Love that Mann’s Hank Parker spinnerbait. I have one still in the original package. I like the lipless and the swimbait. I fish extremely clear rivers here and spinnerbaits are My nemesis.
I had great luck last spring on Red Eye Shad . This spring I'm going to try paddle tail swimbaits and see what happens. Great info. and thanks for the tips.
Awesome Video once again Debo. My go to baits in the spring for Smallies especially are Tube Jig, Square bill. Dont get to do much largemouth fishing in the early spring.
Hey Debo, really enjoy your channel. Possible idea for a video (or maybe you’ve done one and I missed it). I’m looking to add another combo to my arsenal for the spring. Trying to cover as many baits and styles as I can in two or three combos. Any recommendations, particularly for rods that can cover a wide array?
I gotta go with pretty much the same three you had. Stocked up on a bunch of spinner baits a couple weeks ago a bass pro now to stock up on the other two maybe this weekend. Great video Debo 👊🏻
I definitely want to throw more lipless, grabbed about a dozen of all different types of spinner baits, and I grew on trying a swimming paddletail, but my favorite style is squarebill, shallow and mid divers, but my 2019 arsenal is way more diverse, thanks on sharing, you the man! #1 shallow squarebill #2 spinner bait #3 swimbait
Hard for me to sit here in Texas in 29 degree weather and think about spring. But thanks for trying man. Heading to the evil corp Walmart to stock up. :)
Haha I hear ya man. Record lows today in Iowa. This winter stuff does make you want to shop for tackle. Warm weather will be here soon. Thanks for watching 👊
For me its the spinnerbait, or the chatterbait. I have never had luck with crankbaits. The chatterbait has become my new all spring, summer and fall lure.
Brilliant choices!! Swim jig, chatterbait, lipless are mine. I will throw a spinnerbait. I don’t have much confidence in the jerkbait....yet, but I’ll be throwing it more this year. I have some beast cost miyagi dope gill and the hitch color in my cart on Tackle Warehouse ✊🏻
Heck yeah awesome video bro!!!! Alex does have a awesome channel too. He lives right down the road from me and fishes the park I go to all the time. I still love the jerkbait all the way into the spawn. I caught a 5.55 last year on the kvd jerkbait
Thanks man. WHAT? That would be awesome! You gotta hit him up and go fishing. That guy is a wealth of knowledge and I guarantee he'd be fun as hell to fish with! I'm hoping to have some good jerkbait days!
Great! I'm set to go. I already have a Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap, A couple of spinnerbaits, and a swimbait called a Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad, which at 5" and 5/8 oz., probably wasn't what you had in mind for a swimbait. I would, however, like to try out a Keitech just to see what the fuss is all about. Oh, and how about a swim jig as a search bait; would it work?
Great, you've got some good options! The keitechs are money! Most definitely a swim jig will work! I just love the spinner in the spring. I know guys who DON'T throw the spinner and only thr swim jig and they catch a ton of fish. Same for chatterbait. All depends on what you have confidence in.
@@DEBOSFishing I was just thinking that any number of lures would work as long as they lent themselves to covering a lot of water as in when scoping out a new lake for example. I only mentioned the swim jig because it is fairly cheap and it can be dressed up with various trailers for versatility in presentation.
Blakemore have some Swim-n-Shads that have a little paddletail body with a roadrunner head and willow blade underneath that work really well for searchbaits. The Storm 360's always do great too without snagging as bad as some I just usually try to catch them on sale or clearance.
Here is something to think about; bank fishing in other countries like England and Europe is very popular and have organized bank fishing tournaments. They call fishing in small ponds and lakes still water fishing. Fishing in rivers and streams is also quite developed. American anglers are lightyears behind bank fishing techniques developed in England and Europe. Japanese and Austrian anglers have developed many techniques that slowly appear as the latest and greatest new way to fish in America. An example is they often use two single hooks on hard-baits. We think adding a bigger hook is the answer to not losing fish on crankbaits. I tried changing to using single hooks on rattletraps a long time ago and it works. You lose fewer lures in cover and fewer fish hooked shake off after hooking them. My treble crankbait hooks are so sharp if one falls on my boat carpet, I often have to snip it out with scissors and fish still shake off. Many Japanese lures called Vibes use just one single hook. Vibes are another name for lipless crankbaits. Changing to two single hooks, could help you fishing friends stuck on the bank lose less lures and save for a float tube. Most baits you use other than crankbaits only have one hook with only a few exceptions so why would it not work on hard baits too. Saltwater angles change trebles to single hooks when fishing for fish that take a long time to land because they lose far less fish during the fight. The best reason to use single hooks is less fish die using single hooks and single hooks are easy to remove. You say think out the box. Well this is thinking out of the box.
I've heard of some people doing that. I need to test it out. I would be nice to help reduce snags. However, I would think you would miss a lot of fish that just slap at the bait. Good food for thought my friend 👊
S-Waver 168 / Jerkbait combo is my favorite for Spring. The S-Waver may not always get bit, but I often see bass trailing it. When this happens I switch to the jerkbait. If these two aren't working then I like the lipless crankbait for searching different depths or even hopping on the bottom. My #3 lure is a red craw colored squarebill. Bass love crawfish and where I live they seem to like the red ones Spring, Summer, and Fall.
I’m a firm believer in a “red” lipless for Spring. Couldn’t get a bite late April last year so I broke out the Spro Aruku shad in mudbug and it was like a light switch. I got 6 nice ones in 30min and they choked it.
Yea, I always though the red was to mimic craw. Up here in iowa we don't have them so I never throw them. Last year I had the same experience as you! Thanks for watching man!
I know man! Not sharp at all! I look for sales. The mustad triple grip are great. Otherwise you could use gamakatsu round bend. You can find good sales on them around the holidays. Size 4 on the 1/2 oz or size 6 on the 1/4 oz lipless. Hope this helps man!
Hey DEBO, got question for you. I have a Cabela's brand tournament zx rod. It's a medium heavy fast, line weight is 12-20(average for mh) but lure weight is 1/4-5/8(seems low compared to others). Wondering why this could be?
Also, it says spinner bait/swim jig on it, what else you think it would be good for? Jigs? Jerkbaits? Maybe cranks? Rod feels more like a moderate fast compared to other MHF rods
Generally, that lower rating is because of the rid tip. Loading too heavy of a lure on the cast will break a tip. Also, companies don't have a standard, it's up to the manufacturer. Some companies may call a rod with those exact same specifications a medium. Hope this helps man!
@@c.shoefish yea, the softer MH rods I have that feel like that I use for single hook moving baits (swim jig, chatter, spinner, paddle tail) the softness in the rod helps keep fish pinned.
Presently I'm 46 years old and 99% of my fishing in life has been from the bank. The last few years I haven't gone at it as hard as I normally did in the past but that's going to change this season. You're right about affordability in lures and I have a price limit that's pretty low by todays standards that I'm willing to pay and I don't go over it.
@@DEBOSFishing maybe this spring or summer or fall it's great all year round here the lakes and rivers and By-pass canals hold monsters my favorite is the bypass canals open banks most of the lakes and rivers here are heavy growth along the banks .
7’10” seems like it’s a little overkill for chatterbaits, more of a deep cranking rod, but depending on what it loads at it would work sure, I use a 7’2”-7’5” med hvy moderate for pretty much every chatter and crank I have, 95% of the time I’m fishing from the bank because I pond hop a lot so taking a longer rod doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me but on a boat, have at it
I agree with John. That's a long rod but it will definitely help you cast farther. If you fish from a boat, or on a clear bank, it would be a great chatter rod. Thanks for watching!
DEBO'S Fishing true, but if I’m looking for a little more distance I usually drop down in lb test and up the lure weight by maybe 1/8-1/4, but I’m also the kinda guy that will throw a horny toad on a med power rod with 12lb mono along the bank if there isn’t a lot of veg or cover(mainly because I didn’t bring anything else) so by all means, use what you have and what you’re comfortable with
Was the spinnerbait made by Mann's? Also, I used to slaughter fish on the Sassy Shad. Definitely the best original paddletail swimbait. You could do a video on vintage lures for sure!! Haha
1) Lipless crankbait (Rapala Rippin Rap, Firetiger colour) 2)Spinnerbait (but inline style, with some Red trailing on the hook) 3)Jerkbait (Savage gear Jerkster in Ghost Goby Colour)
My guess for the spinnerbait brand: *Mann's*. I think that looped over line-tie area is a dead giveaway. I actually kinda dig that. It would make it easier to use a bait snap while using the spinnerbait without it sliding out of position, which happens with modern open-bend designs. (although I have started using a wacky o-ring wrapped around the line tie area to prevent this, which might have actually been a tip from you, Debo. I can't remember).
Man, I think I agree with you almost 100%! Only thing I’d possibly change would be that I may be more likely to throw a squarebill instead of a lipless crankbait because my local waters have a lot of lay downs near the banks. But yes for sure, spinnerbaits and Keitechs can’t be beat
Yea, the squarebill seems to pick up more debris where I fish. The lipless is just a bit easier to navigate. But for lay downs, I'd always pick the squarebill!
DEBO'S Fishing that makes complete sense. I’m gonna try some head to head tests of them in my grassy pond as soon as we’ve got clear water with no ice!
Good info here debo! Do you add a trailer to your spinner baits? I've just started to experiment with them and would like to hear your opinion. I tried adding a paddle tail and also a fluke. Thanks Debo👌
Yessir, I always used to throw the Mann's spinnerbait trailer. Little body with a couple of spaghetti looking legs. Now I like just a little thin keitech. You can use flukes or even a ribbon tail worm.
DEBO'S Fishing I’ve been using a lot of the strike king twin tail rage menace grubs as trailers lately and they’ve been killer on both spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, I rig them with the tail vertical instead of horizontal and it’s been money my past few trips out
DEBO'S Fishing yeah man, you can either split the tail or keep it together and have a diff action for different water temps and color, tried it once when I ran out of trailers and i was surprised by how good it worked
Keep in mind that lures such as the Tungsten Two Tap produce a different sound/vibration frequency. Bass, using their lateral line, can feel this and they can tell the difference between it and a crank that has a high-pitch sound produced by a bunch of tiny balls in the rattle. If you think the “rattle sounds” are trivial, you’re likely missing out on big bass and sometimes it literally does come down to spending four more bucks on the lure, or missing a 6lber. From my experience using a Heddon Spook and then using the Heddon Spook One Knocker, the different sound is significant to the bass and, this is just my opinion based on my experience, but bigger bass prefer the low pitch “knocking” noise over the high pitched rattle.
Absolutely! There are people that really dial down into the specific sounds of the lipless for all different situations. I agree that it could make a difference, I just haven't personally gone down that rabbit hole lol. Appreciate that comment man!
Hey 𝗗𝗘𝗕𝗢, i wanted to see if you could do a honest review/bend test on the Quantum Xtralite Spinning reel please, or at least consider it. I would try it myself but i would prefer seeing you do it in a video, Thanks in Advance.
I’m with you on using a spinner bait. I prefer Terminator Titanium Spinners. They are indestructible. I tend to use BassAssassin paddle tails just like I would on the coast for speckled trout on 1/8 oz jig heads. While I do love a Red Eye Shad, a ShadRap trumps it for the #3 position if I can only choose three.
DEBO'S Fishing I’ll be on Kentucky Lake in three weeks. I will likely throw a #8 Shad Rap in Original Crawdad 80% of the time. The subtle tight wiggle and no rattle seems to be the ticket in the cold water.
Tried-and-true rattletrap. 1993 while stationed at fort Knox Kentucky. that first warm day of spring where you can take your shirt off and catch some sunshine. Caught my life-time Bass. 12 pounder not 20 feet off the bank.
@@DEBOSFishing the best part is there was a couple of game wardens giving classes to a boy scout troop. Tons of smiles and pictures and a couple of scouts but the old fat gal back in the water. It took me a while to get over it. I wanted my "wall hanger". Didn't wanna put her back. Now my trophy is hoping a couple fellas got the bite to go fish. Thanks Debo! You're doing it right man👍👊
The water just never cleans up enough in NC spring for me to confidently throw a jerkbait. I’m pretty much with you maybe change the swim bait out for a chatter bait and definitely throw in a Squarebill. I love fishing a Squarebill. Once I get bit or see a fish following it it’s a black trick worm on a shaky head milk it time.
sooooo you dont use any swivels to tie on any lures ? aka jigs and etc. ..... i live dartmouth nova scotia canada . and i also fish for troute ? so what your 3 best troute lures ?
I don't normally use snaps. I've been playing with some of the newer stuff and some are quite good. I just prefer to tie directly to the lure. I don't have any idea about trout in your neck of the woods my friend. I'm sorry 🙁
I know this is an oldie but goodie but I like an in-line spinner. Maybe not really early spring but when that water hits the upper 50's I'm throwing a size 2 or 3 Mepps or Blue Fox. I keep the blade color simple silver, gold or copper and if you can find some knock offs on EBAY that's good too because the fish don't know the difference.
Isn't that a Mann's spinnerbait? You know me many, so you know what I throw all the time...but my #2-3 I will add ;) 1) Warbaits Swimjig - 1/4-3/8 oz in Firecracker, Orange or DCP and a Zman Diezel, Diezel Minnow, SwimmerZ or even Slim Swimz on the 1/4 ( One plastic lasts all season if you want ) I also like to change it up with a Zman Crustacean type, Turbo CrawZ, Punch CrawZ or Palmetto BugZ 2) Alabama Rig - Take your pick, either a smaller profile like LIveTarget Baitball or a larger spread out version like Yum Yumbrella Flash Mob If that is a little rough for the day, I just throw a Strike KIng Premier Plus for a few bucks with the previos mentioned above paddle tail baits 3) Underspin - I prefer Warbaits or Coolbaits Weedless in 1'4 - 3'8 oz and use, you guessed it, the same plastics in #1. versatility is key and helps save cash for other baits for other times of year :D Honorable mention) Jerkbaits - both hardbaits and softbaits I prefer Luckycraft Flash Minnow SP110 in Sexy Smelt (SW-FM110-634SXSM) or Sexy Senorita (SW-FM110-796SXSNT) I will use a cheaper Berkley Skinny Cutter 110+ in Sexier Shad, Gilly or Table Rock ( that purple crushes) For softbait it is hard to go wrong with Zman Razor ShadZ and StreakZ or just a cheap bag of trust Zoom Super Flukes in White Pearl on a EWG 4/0 in a Superline version and run it Tex-posed ( I use Owner hooks personally) Great vid as usual Man!
Debo I don’t fish ponds because I have a motorboat. Any lure used in shallow water will work in ponds just fine. For that, matter fish in ponds are just living in less water than fish in big lakes. Little boats called float-tubes are great for bass fishing ponds and I am surprised you have not tried one. I guess you would need a waterproof camera. Number one search bait for shallow water areas over weeds that are still far below the surface is the Mann’s Baby Minus-1 in White. You just cast it out and reel it back no orking or dorking you don’t have to bang off anything. Bass come a long ways to eat this little bait. If you are fishing waters that Pike live use a 4 to 6-inch wire leader or buy a big bunch of extra baits. I have caught Big Pike looking for early spring Bass. Pike are the first to show up in the spring and they cut you clean in flash. The next Bait for shallow water when the weeds start to reach close to the surface is a Terminator T-1 Titanium spinnerbait white with gold willow blades. They are difficult to find because people like me buy everyone they see and they aren’t cheap. Expect to pay $10 dollars and more for one. This should tell you why they are so hard to find. I caught Big Bass, Pike, Musky, Big Walleye and catfish in water from one foot to eighteen feet. Why I don’t know and don’t care. Size three eighths and half ounce are hard to find. The three-quarter costs thirteen bucks and is easier to find. Other spinnerbaits will work even the one-dollar bargains at Walmart. However, they do not compare to the original Titanium T-1. Least but the most effective is a Carolina-Rig for finding Big Pre-spawn females in deep water. Drag ditches, creek channels and any hard bottom areas in water six to eighteen feet deep. I use a black six-inch lizard, mostly a Zoom or Power-Bait. However, many other colors could work better as the post spawn fish start moving back deeper. Carolina-rigs locate Bass in deep water because they stay on the bottom; they also cost less than twenty-dollar crankbaits. Find the bass and then play with your Big-Boy toys. I have caught a lot of Big Girls on lizards. Here Lizard, Lizard, Lizard. Others lures include Strike King Rocket Shad, Chatter-baits, Zoom-Toads and Gold blade Buzz-baits. All these lures catch Bass anywhere after the ice melts. I used a little pack canoe on ponds when I was young made by Old Town it weighed 28 pounds. I took it everywhere and caught tons of fish in that little canoe. If you stand on the bank, you are missing out on the best fishing ponds have to offer.
So much good info here. I do have a little Jon Boat and use it a lot. I have a lot of feeshin friends who watch and can only fish from the bank so I try to help them out too. The Carolina rig. SO GLAD you brought this up. That is on the list as one of my favorite bottom baits for spring (vid will be coming up soon). Always appreciate your insightful comments my friend. I'll keep an eye out for some of those T-1 spinners!
Sorry nothing to say bout your vid , but I have a problem , today I tie the perfect FG knot and I thought I test it with a scale I’m pulling and it finally broke at seven lbs , here’s the dope , fourteen lb fireline and fourteen Berkley fluorocarbon the FG knot was ok BUT the fluorocarbon broke , it was new this summer , so run out to Walmart and bought a spool of twelve lb fluorocarbon tried it and it broke , both lines broke at seven and eight lbs , tried a ten lb fluorocarbon it broke at seven , try berk big game 15 lb it held up to twenty two lb , so my question is does fluorocarbon suck or does Walmart have just old fluorocarbon, I sure you don’t know , I did have seventeen lb fluorocarbon and it did break at seventeen lb , oh well my FG knot didn’t slip or break . Any ideas ??? All lines were berkley . I think I might give’m a call tomorrow
That's a great question. I don't know. That's tough because each knot was tied differently so it could have been one small imperfection. Did you try tying the knot multiple times with the same line to test? It wasn't the Berkley vanish line was it?
Yeah the knots held but the lines just broke , maybe eight ft or so from the scale and where it was tied off , don’t know if that had anything to do with it , I thought maybe it was to short of length to be testing a strength test , I know they stretch, mono and fluro, but jees prob a ft or so , especially mono like a rubber band almost , but hey , thanks for getting back with me
Man wish id found you sooner could've used all this info this morning cold cloudy murky water in north eastern Arkansas couldnt get anything to bite wasn't using right bait thanks bud
Hey #Debonator, awesome video as usual bud! Since you asked, my top 3 would probably have to be: Jerkbait Lipless crankbait Square bill crankbait #DeboNation #isitspringyet
@@DEBOSFishing I was told when I was a youngen that lizards or salamanders would eat the eggs off the nest so the bass will attack them. I have landed some of my biggest on them. 👍
My absolute favorite for covering water is the Paddle-Tail Swimbait, I usually use the Keitech with the fattest tail, but have success on other brands I've tried. I prefer the belly weighted EWG hooks to make them weedless, I fish a lot of grass and pads. 2nd, the chatterbait type lures have come on strong for me lately, especially this past weekend, out performing traditional spinnerbaits. I particularly like the Lunker Hunt Kraken, I can fish it much slower than an Original Zman Chatterbait. So far I'm still undecided on which I like best of the crankbait style lures, such as the lipless, or squarebill, or suspending jerkbait, more fishing is in order to decide that.
The belly weighted weedless paddle tail is pretty versatile. Comes through cover like you said, you can wake it on top, bounce it on bottom. Yea, the cranks are hard to fish in the really grassy lakes. Thanks for watching, Russell 👊
KapTin Mark I have that one; first time I threw it I lost it to a huge pickerel on the second cast! 😂 Bought it again this winter and can’t wait to throw it!
The Fishing Family I have lived very close to kvd country my whole life, the sexier shad-ier the better lol I have a separate box of just sexy shad stuff lol get some steel leader for next time 👍👍💪😝
I think. EVERYBODY needs to go watch Mike Gilbert’s / Working Class Zero’s video “consider it gone.” -- that video DEFINITELY help me rethink some things. before you even throw that bait, just consider it gone. it’ll clear so much off of your shoulders. and trust me, I know I lot of lures are expensive as fuck... but if you’re gonna get into the thick stuff, you’re inevitably going to lose some lures. good luck. ... I should’ve watched this video before I made a sizable tacklewarehouse order. fuck. i’m always a day late & a dollar short!
That dude is very fun to listen to. One of my buddies turned me on to his channel. I want to get some of his big swimbaits. I need to put a TW order un soon too 🤔

Yes, the old tube is a killer for the smallies. I'm the opposite and don't get to chase the smallies much down here.

#1 shallow squarebill

For me its the spinnerbait, or the chatterbait. I have never had luck with crankbaits. The chatterbait has become my new all spring, summer and fall lure.
Yea, the chatterbait is a strong lure. All depends on your local lakes and what you have confidence with. Thanks for watching man 👊
Brilliant choices!!
Yessir, the spinnerbait bite is so fun to get on. Those Miyagis are money! Always appreciate your support man 👊
Heck yeah awesome video bro!!!!
Bluegill colored chatter bait with a impact swimbait trailer is perfection
Love that setup. The chatterbait is an absolute killer. Bass don't want no part of gillys aroun their beds!
@@dennisnicholson952 yep, you're right. There are a number of options. I'm a huge fan of the ole swim jig!
Blakemore have some Swim-n-Shads that have a little paddletail body with a roadrunner head and willow blade underneath that work really well for searchbaits. The Storm 360's always do great too without snagging as bad as some I just usually try to catch them on sale or clearance.
Nice! I've wondered about those storm 360 but never tried them. I'll keep an eye out too. Thanks for watching my friend 👊
@@DEBOSFishing always man!
Debo I grew up about 45 minutes from a Tom Mann bait shop and aquarium in Eufaula AL! I think it was the or Tom Mann shop, I lived in Columbus Ga.
Nice! I LOVED the Mann's lures back in the day. Caught a lot of fish on them. Thanks for watching!
Great info as always brother!!!
Thanks my friend, always appreciate you tuning in!
Solid vid as always!👍
Thanks brother, appreciate you watching!
Always good information.
Appreciate that man. Thanks for watching!
+1 to rattle traps
I still throw Stanley spinnerbaits or what was the first tungsten one the terminator?
Great video.....
Yes, traps are killer. The first was a Mann's spinnerbait.
I like those picks. I need to put more time in with the s-waver!
Hey Debo! What size and brand hooks do you swap out on the Cordell’s?? Normally they have brass hooks and they are not sharp.
I know man! Not sharp at all! I look for sales. The mustad triple grip are great. Otherwise you could use gamakatsu round bend. You can find good sales on them around the holidays. Size 4 on the 1/2 oz or size 6 on the 1/4 oz lipless. Hope this helps man!
Awesome video Debo! Gotta get the swimbaits
Thanks for watching my man. Yea, the swimbaits are killer!
Chrome and blue back trap or a drop shot are my go to bed fishing techniques.
Yea, looking to really work on my dropshot skills this year! Thanks for watching man.
Those you showed are my favorite here in Florida
Yea, would love to fish Florida someday!
@@DEBOSFishing maybe this spring or summer or fall it's great all year round here the lakes and rivers and By-pass canals hold monsters my favorite is the bypass canals open banks most of the lakes and rivers here are heavy growth along the banks .
What do you recommend for when they’re spawning?
I love a topwater frog in the spring but I use all the ones u mentioned also great video man thanks 👍🎣
If you don't love a huge frog blow up, you don't have a pulse 😂
Great video once again your a HUGE help with lure selection could i use 7'10" cranking rod for chatterbaits
DEBO'S Fishing true, but if I’m looking for a little more distance I usually drop down in lb test and up the lure weight by maybe 1/8-1/4, but I’m also the kinda guy that will throw a horny toad on a med power rod with 12lb mono along the bank if there isn’t a lot of veg or cover(mainly because I didn’t bring anything else) so by all means, use what you have and what you’re comfortable with
@@johngosline7990 I hear ya there man. Thanks for taking the time to comment and help 👊
Was the spinnerbait made by Mann's? Also, I used to slaughter fish on the Sassy Shad. Definitely the best original paddletail swimbait. You could do a video on vintage lures for sure!! Haha
You got it, definitely the Mann's spinner. I'm going to do a walk though of one old box. Wish I had my others 😥
When do you use a swim jig vs swimbait vs spinnerbait?
That would be a perfect viDEBO! This is one I'll do soon man! Thanks for watching 👊
1) Lipless crankbait (Rapala Rippin Rap, Firetiger colour)
2)Spinnerbait (but inline style, with some Red trailing on the hook)
3)Jerkbait (Savage gear Jerkster in Ghost Goby Colour)
Love all those picks my friend. Pike love those too 🤔😉
Hi Debo
What size of Cotton Cordell do you prefer?
I generally throw the 1/2 oz. If you're fishing smaller ponds, try the 1/4 oz.
Lipless is my tops. This year the paddle tail is my mission to master
Yea, the lipless is a dang killer. Nice man. Have patience with the paddle tails, they are definitely fish catchers!
Yessir, it was indeed a Mann's spinnerbait! Yea, the o-ring trick is killer but that wasn't mine! Thanks for watching my friend!
@@TheFishingMommy heck yea! Let me know your thoughts!

That weedless swimbait rig will be killer in the spring!
DEBO'S Fishing I’ve been using a lot of the strike king twin tail rage menace grubs as trailers lately and they’ve been killer on both spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, I rig them with the tail vertical instead of horizontal and it’s been money my past few trips out
@@johngosline7990 love the rage menace! I'm a fan of your choice man. Never tried them on a spinnerbait though!
DEBO'S Fishing yeah man, you can either split the tail or keep it together and have a diff action for different water temps and color, tried it once when I ran out of trailers and i was surprised by how good it worked
@@johngosline7990 that's a really good idea thanks for the tips! Hopefully I land my first spinnerbait bass this year.
I've not used that one. If I get a chance, I'll definitely review it! Thanks for watching man 👊
I always going with the spinner bait. But this spring I will give a try to lipless crank bait. 🎣
The spinnerbait has always been good to me. The lipless is a great bait!
Keitech has such great swimbaits. They have good colors great price. And they are scented if you ever want them to be.
Yea, those terminator spinners are good too. I haven't fish the ShadRap for a bit. Killer river lure though!
DEBO'S Fishing I’ll be on Kentucky Lake in three weeks. I will likely throw a #8 Shad Rap in Original Crawdad 80% of the time. The subtle tight wiggle and no rattle seems to be the ticket in the cold water.
@@michaelwalker8501 yea, the shad raps are great in that cold water. I'm going to pick some more up. Think I've only got s handful left.
Love the cotton cordelle
Tried-and-true rattletrap. 1993 while stationed at fort Knox Kentucky. that first warm day of spring where you can take your shirt off and catch some sunshine. Caught my life-time Bass. 12 pounder not 20 feet off the bank.
Holy smokes, I would have poo'd my pants! That's a fish of a lifetime man! Thanks for watching!

You nailed it. More of a clear water lure and I just don't fish it as much as the others. Oh yea, squarebills do some work!
sooooo you dont use any swivels to tie on any lures ? aka jigs and etc. ..... i live dartmouth nova scotia canada . and i also fish for troute ? so what your 3 best troute lures ?
I don't normally use snaps. I've been playing with some of the newer stuff and some are quite good. I just prefer to tie directly to the lure. I don't have any idea about trout in your neck of the woods my friend. I'm sorry 🙁
No worries. Tks for replying back . Luv. Ur videos
So what the smaller type jigs you can use for bass? Can't really tell from a .5once too a quarter ounce yo which is bigger and smaller?

Yessir! Always appreciate you tuning in my man 👊
I know this is an oldie but goodie but I like an in-line spinner. Maybe not really early spring but when that water hits the upper 50's I'm throwing a size 2 or 3 Mepps or Blue Fox. I keep the blade color simple silver, gold or copper and if you can find some knock offs on EBAY that's good too because the fish don't know the difference.
I bought 4 rattle traps on sale at Walmart and had the best fall fishing day. Lost 2 but that was the cost of having fun oh and catching pike.
Chatter bait , white and chart.
Spinner bait double willow , white.
Lipless crank , blue gill.
I can't argue any of those picks! Thanks for watching 👊
Isn't that a Mann's spinnerbait?
You know me many, so you know what I throw all the time...but my #2-3 I will add ;)
1) Warbaits Swimjig - 1/4-3/8 oz in Firecracker, Orange or DCP and a Zman Diezel, Diezel Minnow, SwimmerZ or even Slim Swimz on the 1/4 ( One plastic lasts all season if you want )
I also like to change it up with a Zman Crustacean type, Turbo CrawZ, Punch CrawZ or Palmetto BugZ
2) Alabama Rig - Take your pick, either a smaller profile like LIveTarget Baitball or a larger spread out version like Yum Yumbrella Flash Mob
If that is a little rough for the day, I just throw a Strike KIng Premier Plus for a few bucks with the previos mentioned above paddle tail baits
3) Underspin - I prefer Warbaits or Coolbaits Weedless in 1'4 - 3'8 oz and use, you guessed it, the same plastics in #1. versatility is key and helps save cash for other baits for other times of year :D
Honorable mention) Jerkbaits - both hardbaits and softbaits
I prefer Luckycraft Flash Minnow SP110 in Sexy Smelt (SW-FM110-634SXSM) or Sexy Senorita (SW-FM110-796SXSNT)
I will use a cheaper Berkley Skinny Cutter 110+ in Sexier Shad, Gilly or Table Rock ( that purple crushes)
For softbait it is hard to go wrong with Zman Razor ShadZ and StreakZ or just a cheap bag of trust Zoom Super Flukes in White Pearl on a EWG 4/0 in a Superline
version and run it Tex-posed ( I use Owner hooks personally)
Great vid as usual Man!
