If you get this camera working, or even for the motor to spin, I will be amazed.

hello beo thanks a lot for the video, do you think is possible to use an old model of bolex with new kodak films just changing the spike rollers?

      Hi @JOEBLACK1979,
Some Filmmakers have even used the original film rollers and filed down one side with a diamond file for single perf. 16mm and 8mm film are 16mm and 8mm. The real job can be getting the rollers re-aligned evenly. Otherwise, the film will become eaten and or creased. You're welcome for the video.

@@paulmorbid1476 Your channel is awesome, yeah i was thinking in machine down or file the one side spikes, i have 2 bolex in great condition one 8 mm modified the gate as a wide screen 8mm, and the other one is 16 mm original but the motor is stuck not engaging or at least not doing anything when you move the crank, i am trying to find a service here in Budapest. and by the way where can i see your movie projects?

When you have a Bolex (or just about any vintage movie camera) with a motor that won't wind down apply heat using a hairdryer to the outside area where the motor is located. Do this for about 45 seconds while pressing the shutter button. Then usually it's motor will start to wind down. The camera will need to get a new cla. Because the original graphite grease inside the clutch motor barrel and around the spring has solidified. The motor will have to be removed, opened up, spring removed, checked for cracks , rust corrosion etc. The spring and inside of the barrel will have to be cleaned, spring reinstalled. I have a video of this in the series. Concerning my Experimental Horror Film this will be my 1St after retiring from managing Star Wars talent. Thank you for the kind words about my channel.

I have a bolex with a missing shutter blade, i heard you mention the 'resetting' of the shutter and pull-down claw. Could you elaborate on how to exactly do this, since i'm thinking of installing a new shutter blade?

Hi Sander, I'll have a video on setting the timing and pull down of the claw in a video. It's far too much for an explanation. All seals must also be reapplied to stop light leaks after the just before and after the repair is finished. More videos concerning this subject on the way.
