    Hi i have a bolex h8 and the mechanism for the film works seemingly well but i was wondering if you were planning a oil method for the film feeder and inner mechanisms?

      Hi Entity, if you're referring to the inner chassis of the Bolex being removed from it's outer shell then the inner gears and parts within having the old lubricants removed then re-lubricated with new lubricants then yes that video is on its way. Thanks for watching. Bolex Is Boss.

    Hi Paul! If you have some dots in the prism..or viewfinder..which the best method to remove..? Thanks

      Hi Carlos, first it's a process of elimination. Start by simply using a lense blower to blow out any dust particles as pointed out in the video titled "Does Your Bolex Have A Hidden Compartment For A DIY Oiling".
      If nothing has changed after you've cleaned the viewfinder that way then you're going to have to dismantle the viewfinder. View this video concerning that. "Viewfinder Completed" ruclips.net/video/LRYmol6Go5Y/видео.html

      It's best at this point to send your Bolex to a knowledgeable technician for servicing. Understand, if those prisms are dropped they'll break as some of them are just about egg shell thin.

      Carlos by the way... sometimes it's not even dirt on the prisms inside the viewfinder. At times it's tiny insects that have gotten trapped inside. They can see the daylight as they walk on the glass but they can't get out. Those bugs need to be cleaned from the glass as they can cause many issues.

    Hi there, is there anything similar for non reflex models? Also, the torrent of my bolex is stiff when turning, how can I fix this? Thank you in advance, Angelo

      Hi Angelo, yes there's an opening at the top in the same area on a Non-Rex where the older viewfinder is. However, as I've pointed out this is (only a quick fix) to save the filming production of the day. "If" your Bolex is having issues with operating such as slowing down or stopping during filming then that Bolex needs to be sent to a knowledgeable service technician for a new full CLA aka Cleaned Lubed and Adjustment. Never, randomly put oil inside a Bolex. Concerning the turret of your Non-Rex it's most likely rusted a little. View my video below on how to possibly fix that. I use a basic oil (in the video) for "testing only". For actual repairs weapons oil is required.

      And on a Non-Rex Bolex check first the silver turret locks to make sure they're unlocked.

      @angelopapagni3213 2 года назад

      Thank you, and how should I unlock them?

      Use a small flat head screwdriver (use the correct size as not to strip the locking screw head) and loosen each one a little. Then, turn each of those small silver turret locks so that the turret itself can rotate. And what ever you do don't spray WD-40 inside a Bolex in any attempt to repair/service it. That product can destroy parts of a Bolex. View my video concerning this subject to learn more. You're very welcome.
