@@h4zrd-rs252 The only thing I'd try t argue is that goblin slayer only took a single lvl in ranger since he hasn't shown to cast spells outside of scrolls
I'm a little disappointed you didn't bring up one of my favorite character moments and choices where the girls make Goblin Slayer promise not to kill goblins with flooding, poison or fire. Then he blows up the Non-Beholder and the girls are pissed that he used fire and Goblin Slayer is like, "That was not a Goblin." I think Lawful Neutral for technically keeping his promise. Also I haven't read the year one Manga, I've read two of the books the manga is based off of, He makes some interesting choices like he get hire by a village and probably pays them more money for supplies and martials to kill goblins then they would have paid him. The main novels I've been reading off and on I'm right now on book four. There is also another series of novels/manga that features Sword Maiden back with her old party.
I like Goblin slayers character so much. He rarely ever comes out and says it, but he has turned his trauma into a way to protect others. He could have been a barbarian butcher slaughtering gobs in a screaming frenzy till he was dragged down and killed, instead he is cold, calculating, and efficient in his actions, and he is totally focused on his goal of killing goblins, and protecting the people around him as much as possible. Thats what makes him a hero. It isnt JUST about killing goblins, its about protecting people from them as well. Im not sure if lawful good is the right heading, as I dont think he gives two farts for law outside of knowing how it effects his ability to slay goblins, and he will openly and without regret do some crazy things to kill them, including salt water floods, fire, underground explosions in sewer systems, etc. I would put him more neutral good because of his flexibility in doing whatever it takes to kill the goblins.
I disagree with calling his actions “extreme”. These aren’t the goofish cannon fodder goblins that’s become common in popular media. These things rape, murder, and destroy everyone/everything! If they weren’t rapey piranha-halflings that can raze entire settlements then I could see his methods being a bit much. Sucks to fix the sewer system but magic exists so it’s not exactly irreparable, and there won’t be anyone to use that sewer system if that horde genocides the town.
@@gameinsane4718 Yeah but iirc when destroying the nests goblinslayer caused serious problems in the nearby towns with the fire, and getting seawater into their groundwater or some such thing. These are poor villages that cant even afford to pay for a proper quest reward to kill their goblins. They cant hire the mage woman to come and magic away the destroyed crops from saltwater. Its why priestess and elf archer were trying to get goblinslayer to agree not to use fire or flooding in the sewers arc. Because if by saving the village you destroy the village, is it really saved?
@@chrishubbard64 I’d still argue he’s a net positive. True, places get destroyed, but the difference with Goblin Slayer vs the goblins is that GS destroying the place does prevent the goblins from moving on to destroy another village. Others who are skilled enough, don’t want the low pay. Those willing to take the low pay, aren’t skilled enough. GS occasionally taking out a settlement, while I agree isn’t ideal, ignores the fact that without him there’s a much greater threat of the village falling AND leaves the goblins free to cause more death. (They also breed like rabbits using captured women, so leaving even a few alive doesn’t really stop the problem, only delays it and potentially puts it on someone else… or even on the same settlement AGAIN except this time the village isn’t fully repaired so it’s an even less safe place to stand and defend)
@@gameinsane4718 oooo good counter argument to a already good argument. Both of you make great points, but yeah I guess goblin slayer really doesn't need much pay and also does a really efficient job at taking out the goblins
@@ramir3sxd In the novels, he hangs out with spearman and heavy swordsman. Heck, he even outright says that his party is important to him and he can say that they're his "friends" without stuttering (he used to pause whenever he had to refer to them as that). It's subtle but he definitely gets character development and it's one of my favorite parts of reading the LN.
@@ramir3sxd the anime is crap and butchered the character and the light novel. The light novel is actually really good and shows Goblin Slayer isn't a dense slaughterer like the anime shows.
@@GudHunterYT96 Oh wow, I really like his character in the show a lot, I guess I should try reading the light novel but I very heavily related with his character and the message of not letting your past traumas define you. The guy u got too play as the goblin slayer is hilarious, and an excellent pallet cleanser after keyarru's tragically brutal internal and external conundrums mixed with little chunks of BS, I still hope he can be happy again and maybe get some acceptance from wolf girl, sword saint , and maybe his demon lord candidate..... though its mostly only wishful thinking.
To answer GS's question about Halflings and why they're called that blame one of the most successful Fantasy Sequels at the time of D&D's creation, Lord of the Rings. What you thought Merry and Pippin rattling the list of racial nicknames was film original? It's from the book. As to why halfling, they tend to look like half a human in height. Why it stuck is dependent on the fantasy world. So mileage may vary there.
I like Tabaxi. Mostly because a podcast I watched years ago and a reoccurring Merchant character named Garfield the Deals Warlock. His barter requirements were really sketchy but affordable (a vial of your blood, a lock of your hair stuff like that) and during the final battle Garfield and a bunch of other people evacuated a town and Garfield left behind a comatose clone of the teams Fighter making everyone wonder what exactly Garfield was planning if the BIg Bad hadn’t come in before the end.
If you ever decide to do Priestess, the deuteragonist of the show, she would certainly be under Lawful Good, but I wonder if the dings would be from the perspective of her adherence to the Earth Mother or to an objective standpoint. For example, her uses of Miracles outside of their intended purpose, such as using Barrier to crush and trap an enemy, and Purification to turn the Goblin Shaman’s blood to water. These would be objectively Neutral Good, but to the pacifistic Neutral Good diety Earth Mother, they skirt dangerously close to oathbreaking and Chaotic Evil. Priestess got told off and warned against doing it again both times.
Lots of fun and it was great seeing the Goblin Slayer video after the stinger at the end of TAS' video. Great editing, great chemistry between you and Goblin Slayer and I'm hopeful for another crossover with this group in the future.
I definitely love collabs!! I like getting someone who is actually funny in these videos too ^^ it's a nice change of pace especially considering how serious the redo of healer video was
This. Was. AMAZING!!!!! I loved the Goblin Slayer Abridged series, and it was actually what inspired me to watch the official release, which I then also loved, and then tracked down the manga, which I ALSO loved!! Series is fantastic, and this video was made so much better by the inclusion of the Abridged Goblin Slayer! I do wish you had touched more on the difference between anime and manga, but otherwise, it was great! Thank you and happy holidays!
8:03 good thing Stuart is a C-lister! Also, should have used Fate Cù Chuulain’s face over spearman, since he’s such an expy in the manga that people think GS has the same face as Shirou/Archer.
Goblin Slayer is pretty much the D&D version of I AM LEGEND, and I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the series, we find out that the goblins have been getting worse, solely based on the nightmare legend of Goblin Slayer.
@@littlekuribohimposte It's a level of escalation. Like first, people only hear about goblins attacking a place, and only ever hear second hand stories, like I heard from Carrot Vendor that Little Village was attacked. Then it goes to people have been attacked and survived. Then Goblins attack and actually burn down the village and everyone can see it from a distance, to like a full blown warband lead by big bosses attacking during the day. The classic D&D style, would be the threats get bigger as the story gets. So like towards the end of the series, the group defeats a huge group, then notice things like crude cave painting style art depicting Goblin Slayer's adventures and the group realizes that GS is the goblin Boogeyman, and they've been gathering in larger groups and destroying more openly, to call out their BBEG to try and defeat him.
@@TheLoadingCrew Also goblin's crown skips a chunk of the novels, The anime moved stuff around from the books like anime is adapted from the first two novels but put the first Novel's ending at the end of the anime's season one. @@AndreasNicklasson Yeah as I can tell Book 1 take place in Spring, Book 2 Summer, Book 3 Fall, Book 4 are side stories. Book 5 Winter. I assume 6 is back to Spring again. Also by that logic I suspect there will be four year one books.
We had about 3-5 extra minutes of back and forward jokes but I decided to cut them to preserve the flow of the video. Grimjack really brought his a-game this video
Goblin Slayer is also surprisingly wealthy since his only expenses are food, rent (for a shed), armor repairs and experimenting with new ways of killing goblins. He may take the low paying jobs but he takes them constantly. I don't think he'd even had a drink in a tavern to relax until his new companions forced him.
Goblin Slayer is the greatest DnD inspired work ever. The Goblin slayer is a true hero, he does the worst work ever and only charging enough to be able to continue doing so, to keep others safe.
I’ve watched this around 10 times since this came out. It just is so well put together. So much of this is why I love Goblin Slayer: multifaceted and so much deeper then the internet leads you to believe about the show. And my favorite screamer on the Internet, Grimjack, makes everything better!
I politely request you to cover the "Murder Drones" pilot! (day14) Man, I love GS, he is a very interesting character that is seemingly simple with motivations, but very smart and kind at the same time. My prediction? He`s gonna be true Good.
Before he met his party it's safe to say "chaotic good" because he will do anything to kill goblins from burning homes (the old elven fortress), flooding the nest, etc. But after meeting the party it has changed to "neutral good" because he learned restraint especially for the elf
If i had to guess chaotic good. Because his methods are questionable but his goals are noble . Thats why he's the "doom guy" of goblins and why we love him and others like him. Because there methods are also bad ass.
And for people who think he likes killing goblins, he said it himself that if he could make goblins stop existing with a snap of a finger, he would. If goblins weren't there terrorizing people, dude would probably retire and live a peaceful life at his farm.
Ah yes. The man who dedicates his entire life to doing the one thing all the other high ranked adventures won't do, due to having sticks shoved so up their asses you can see them when they speak, killing goblins. Of course he's a good aligned character, he did suffer at the hands of goblins so this is revenge for him, but this is also because noone else will so he must do what others will not and protect the innocent from goblins. So yes, Lawful or Neutral Good are the best Alignments for him, really it doesn't matter which of the two he is, all that matters is that he slays goblins, gets waifus, and looks badass doing it. Plus the abridged series made him sound less like a stoic merciless goblin slayer and more like a deranged lunatic and that is hilarious. Okay so after watching the whole video, laughing all the way, I really enjoyed this. This is a really episode, one of my favorite of all, and the dynamic between both of our guys is hilarious and very entertaining. This anime was really great and this episode really did Goblin Slayer well and I love you geeking out over the cute stuff, I did too, so I really enjoyed this episode and I hope the one's in the future can be anywhere near as good. Although this episode alone is very hard to beat. I'm sure which episode is my favorite but this is one of the closest contenders to that title. May Goblin Slayer's life be long and stained with the blood of goblins, and may the lives of the goblins he faces be short and full of pain. Long Live Goblin Slayer! Death to all Goblins!
I'm very late to this party, but this was a fantastic video. Many thanks to both Stu and Grimmjack for this one. And just for the heck of it, one small defense for SaWORD Maiden's decision to hire Goblin Slayer for the job... As they pointed out earlier, Goblins are generally considered rookie fodder, with only the Slayer himself and a few others understanding how dangerous they can really be. If she hired low rank adventurers (who'd be more likely to take the job), they probably couldn't get the job done right and would die (even a party of mostly high rank adventurers struggled hard in that fight); if she tried to hire other high rank help, they'd probably laugh at a Gold Rank adventurer and powerful priestess asking for help to deal with a bunch of goblins, and she'd probably lose face with the church and the city. Goblin Slayer hits that perfect balance of someone both competent enough to kill them off completely and willing to take the job seriously. ... Asking him to stay with her, though, that's all on her. No excusing that one.
So I am sure it is somewhere down there but the OP is by MILI, who is a total wonder of music. CHECK HERE OUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! her work in the game Deemo is god tier already and then her other work on top of that is even better.
I love Goblins Slayer, both character and series. His story inspired me to try and make my own dnd character based around him in particular the parody version. No idea what kind of class I'd make my character, probably something like a crazed battlemaster or something or a barbarian, but I think I'd have a lot of fun with them. Any fans of Goblin slaying here? Because the only good goblin is a dead goblin, and I love making goblins good.
So we not gonna talk about how he apparently was waterboarding goblins and doin other horrific acts to goblins before the Elf had to convince him not to?
he was solo and the only reason he went inside the cave in the first chapter was because he knew there's a newbie party inside. if he's 100% sure there's no victim he'd rather flood it down. it's been a decade and he never saw any "good" goblin anyway HEA told him not to do any of that mostly to keep him from pursuing efficiency above all else, especially in urban area and such. now he has a party and it does make going into the nest somewhat safer. The author himself made sure it's dangerous to flood it and such from the get go most of the time because the unique goblin/cultist/etc still keeping the hostages alive
So saying now, Goblin Slayer is a Lawful Good Fighter/Ranger with a dash of paladin ideals (Specifically Oath of Vengeance) that just hates GOBLINS and anything about them? Cool.
Both -Demon Slayer- I mean, Goblin Slayer and GAAWBLIN SLAYER are such great voices. I'm in love with the two of them. My first prediction was to put GS on True Neutral, but I guess it does make a lot of sense to have him as a LG character.
Suffering from trauma, takes up a mantle akin to that of a nightmarish beast and almost single-mindedly launches himself a crusade of doing what others can't or won't to prevent his trauma from being repeated unto others lest they become a sociopath like him? Sounds like ultra violent Batman to me. Always knew there was something I liked about GS.
Goblin Slayer's actions and motivations may be incredibly simple, but *damn* if it doesn't make for a compelling character. Yes, all he does is murder goblins every chance he gets. Yes, he does it because it's what he was literally trained to do. And yes, he is motivated by revenge. But the part I think people don't get is that it's not just revenge. He does what he does to make the world a safer place for everyone else. So no one has to go through what he, and so many others like him have gone through, are going through, and will go through until the last goblin in his world lies dead on his blade. He is the Goblin Slayer, not just because he wants to be, but so no one else has to be. Y'know, it's funny, that kind of reminds me of a Hellsing Ultimate quote. "As I lay there, betrayed by the Lord I thought on my side, made a monster in his name, *I swore I would not allow another monster like myself to exist in this world*." ...While that's not a perfect one-to-one with GS, I like to think he hopes he's the last hero to ever hold the title of Goblin Slayer. The last monster of his design.
Lawful good/evil is what I imagine he will end up as. Because he is only motivated by the killing of goblins, anything else regarding his missions are not important to him like at all XD.

Maybe there was an old group that fell apart over time, or maybe they started out as a pair and it's been only Goblin Slayer and his GM until Priestess shows up.
The funny thing about Goblin Slayer's approach to his craft is that it smells a LOT like what the OSR guys are always preaching about how it's supposed to be a deadly game and you're supposed to avoid direct combat whenever possible since the goal isn't glory (in their case it's loot, in Goblin Slayer's case it's simple extermination)
@@h4zrd-rs252 The only thing I'd try t argue is that goblin slayer only took a single lvl in ranger since he hasn't shown to cast spells outside of scrolls
Barges into a area
Kills goblins
Gets all the waifus

Leaves
Chaotic neutral to the max
Edit : and polite while doing it
He kills Goblins, so i say Lawful good, across the board. [The GyGaxian Definition]
He goes out of his way to protect and aid others. That is the definition of a good alignment.
Chaotic good is a worthy title
That sounds more Chaotic Good to me
I'm a little disappointed you didn't bring up one of my favorite character moments and choices where the girls make Goblin Slayer promise not to kill goblins with flooding, poison or fire.
The manga with sword maiden is a prequel
TABLE is Lawful Evil & is the best character in the story
(that’s saying a lot because goblin slayer is filled with a lot of great characters)
table handles logistics
I just have one question. TABLE. Can we trust him?
The fact that they got the guy who mocaps for doom guy to be the VA for this anime is incredible.
Think normal & abridgeds alignments might be a tad different 😅
arguably....maybe. abridged boy is probably CG
To be fair, the initial placement seems like a best guess based on generalities and he DID wind up close to the border with Neutral Good.
Yep, Goblin slayer is right. There is a case where a baby goblin grow up to be a piece of works
Just remember all bad goblin started out as child goblins is there a coincidence definitely not
@@justnojustn3036 Even shown kindness that baby goblin never change. He raped an Amazon warrior who taught him nothing but kindness
Goblin slayer is a revised ranger while Elf Archer is a stock ranger. That's why she's so annoyed with him.
don't you mean a spell-less ranger?
@@enderking5220 actually year one describes as a multiclass fighter and ranger
While most people think he is totally single minded in the beginning his character development is fantastic.
Now he speaks four words sometimes, incredible indeed
@@ramir3sxd In the novels, he hangs out with spearman and heavy swordsman. Heck, he even outright says that his party is important to him and he can say that they're his "friends" without stuttering (he used to pause whenever he had to refer to them as that).
It's subtle but he definitely gets character development and it's one of my favorite parts of reading the LN.
@@ramir3sxd the anime is crap and butchered the character and the light novel.
The light novel is actually really good and shows Goblin Slayer isn't a dense slaughterer like the anime shows.
@@GudHunterYT96 it is obvious that he cares in the show. I haven’t read the manga yet.
@@GudHunterYT96 Oh wow, I really like his character in the show a lot, I guess I should try reading the light novel but I very heavily related with his character and the message of not letting your past traumas define you. I guess I just really appreciated this anime and thought the character from what I saw was really well done.
The guy u got too play as the goblin slayer is hilarious, and an excellent pallet cleanser after keyarru's tragically brutal internal and external conundrums mixed with little chunks of BS, I still hope he can be happy again and maybe get some acceptance from wolf girl, sword saint , and maybe his demon lord candidate..... though its mostly only wishful thinking.
check the link in the description for Goblin Slayer abridged!! It's so much fun!
The funny thing is that Hobbits/Halflings are an almost perfect match for what an actual folklore Hobgoblin is supposed to be.
What do you call Shirefolk that don’t live in the Shire?
A long way from home!
Heroes save the world while Goblin Slayer saves the place for heroes to come back to
Ah yes, time for glorious retribution against all goblins, even though goblins are my favorite race to play as in D&D
Don't let him hear you say that.
I'm waiting for the Conker from Conker's Bad Fur Day Alignment, that one should be all over the place.
That is a great idea!
Absolutely
YEEEEEEESSSS!!!!! Been waiting for Orcbolg's moral alignment!
Also, should have used Fate Cù Chuulain’s face over spearman, since he’s such an expy in the manga that people think GS has the same face as Shirou/Archer.
same voice actor ^^ that's why lol
@@TheLoadingCrew fair enough. DIdn't know that due to watching the sub back when it came out. I should give the dub a try.
Literally the anime that got me into D&D.
Goblin Slayer is pretty much the D&D version of I AM LEGEND, and I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the series, we find out that the goblins have been getting worse, solely based on the nightmare legend of Goblin Slayer.
They're already big on stealing and raping women, and killing everything else. How can they get worse?

Great video as ever, just sad that you didn't include the goblin slayer movie "goblin's crown" in this analysis... 😅
I didn't know it existed!! i'm so sorry >…< that ended up being my favorite arc too
@@TheLoadingCrew
Do be fair, I don’t think it would have changed the alignment all to much.
@@TheLoadingCrew Also goblin's crown skips a chunk of the novels, The anime moved stuff around from the books like anime is adapted from the first two novels but put the first Novel's ending at the end of the anime's season one. Goblin's Crown is like book five, they haven touch books three and four, Witch I assume will be handled in season 2 of the anime.
@@reifuTD Actually, book 4 is a bunch of side stories, and they did adapt part of it. Like rookie warrior taking up the club.
This is great, but I really really wanted the crew to make a joke about how Goblin slayer is basically the Batman of this mediaval world
We had about 3-5 extra minutes of back and forward jokes but I decided to cut them to preserve the flow of the video. Grimjack really brought his a-game this video
Goblin Slayer abridged was the very reason I got into and saw Goblin Slayer (anime)
This is the video I’ve been waiting for!! Thank you thank you
WOOOOO
this episode was GAWWWWBLINATED
but also since we have abridged members, now im wondering...whats the alignment of Abridged Kirito?
I think i'll do that in the near future
Sweaty Gob! (Or Priestly Pribs!)
Thanks for that cameo.
Forget what I said before I love this video and now I'm actually interested in watching goblin Slayer and goblin Slayer abridged.
I politely request you to cover the "Murder Drones" pilot! (day14)
Man, I love GS, he is a very interesting character that is seemingly simple with motivations, but very smart and kind at the same time. My prediction? He`s gonna be true Good.
The Epithet Erased/Goblin Slayer/Dungeons And Dragons crossover was sooner than I expected
Calling it now chaotic good
Welp I was wrong good job
I fully predicted this, but it was still a great video and I loved it.
Goblin Slayer is a true hero.
Give Grimjack a Ding for his Nat 20 ending speech.
he nailed it this episode
y'know what im glad you did enough research not to shy away from goblin slayer like others have
First Keyaru, now Goblin Slayer? Merry Christmas indeed!
This has everything I would want in. Goblin Slayer video. Love the special guest.
So happy you got the abridged series voice actor. A wonderful reference
The Ghaaawblin Slayerr! voice is giving me some serious MR TORQUE! vibes.
I half expect him to go on a rant about laser weapons any moment.
The team up I never knew I NEEDED IN MY LIFE!!!!
Thanks for this!!!
This gave a new point of view to the anime
I love my boi Goblin Slayer, the dedication to his craft is ✨IMPECCABLE✨
Wanna point out. The opening song for Goblin Slayer is insanely good, the artist other works, also great.
I love how GrimJack's Goblin Slayer acts and sound Inosuke.
Take a shot of water every time they say goblin stay hydrated
About what I expected alignment wise but way more fun of a video than what I expected 😁
I am waiting to see Goblin Slayer weaponize ice cream. You know it's going to happen.
My bet is he’ll bribe the entire lizard race with dairy products to help kill goblins. Lol
One of these day i wish you do a DND alignment on Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes. Great video on goblin slayer
Pretty fun that Hero-girl is just some rando saved by GS, and her only trait is whenever gods throw dices she literally gets equivalent of Nat 20.
I can't get enough of @Grimmjack
14:16-15:26 Reminds me of the creed Anderson and the Iscariot announced in Hellsing Abridged.
I fucking love Grimjack! The Schmuck Squad is amazing!
Lawful good.
Neutral good = spare goblin children i guess
I'd like you todo the grimjack version at some point
Either Neutral or Chaotic Good for sure.
So we not gonna talk about how he apparently was waterboarding goblins and doin other horrific acts to goblins before the Elf had to convince him not to?
The elf hates fun, that's just a fact
he was solo and the only reason he went inside the cave in the first chapter was because he knew there's a newbie party inside. if he's 100% sure there's no victim he'd rather flood it down. it's been a decade and he never saw any "good" goblin anyway
HEA told him not to do any of that mostly to keep him from pursuing efficiency above all else, especially in urban area and such. now he has a party and it does make going into the nest somewhat safer. The author himself made sure it's dangerous to flood it and such from the get go most of the time because the unique goblin/cultist/etc still keeping the hostages alive
“The only good goblin is a dead goblin, so lets make these goblins GOOOOOD!!!”
The Goblin Slayer you have helping you sounds and acts a bit like Mister Torgue High-Five Flexington from Borderlands.
MORE GOBLIN SLAYER CHARACTERS PLEASE :D
The Hero no one asked for, but the Hero we need.
I had guessed Lawful Neutral because he has one code and sticks to it regardless of all else.
Oh I’m really excited for this! ^_^
question are ogers weak to fire because if they are i think bringing torches and some flammable substance in caves in a cave more often is a good idea
And this is why if i ever run a game or play in one i am writing in goblin slayer
I had forgotten it was today ,
Thanks , that made my mood a lot.
I'd love to see a video like this about Rimuru Tempest from That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.
I can't wait to read the manga
Sounds more like deadpool than goblin slayer but still cool
I really love these anime dnd stuff you've been doing!

"As I lay there, betrayed by the Lord I thought on my side, made a monster in his name, *I swore I would not allow another monster like myself to exist in this world*."
...While that's not a perfect one-to-one with GS, I like to think he hopes he's the last hero to ever hold the title of Goblin Slayer. The last monster of his design.
Just looked it up and apparently Burglar (Goblin Slayer's Mentor) is a super old Rhea... makes sense that he hates goblins so much now.
Lawful good/evil is what I imagine he will end up as. Because he is only motivated by the killing of goblins, anything else regarding his missions are not important to him like at all XD.
He's a specialist dedicated to his craft. Respect.
