    Even after all these years I still appreciate how Boston Dynamics actually lets the audience hear the noisy sounds in the background when it comes to videos of functionality of their device. Doing this along with releasing videos of the robots failing makes their videos more authentic than that of companies that hide everything behind cringe music and stating that their products are capable of doing attention gathering things with no real proof to show for it. Good job, Boston Dynamics. Keep at it!

      It makes you wonder if a humanoid design is really the most efficient general purpose human stand-in. We've built our workplaces and processes around the form-factor and capabilities of humans, but that doesn't mean that a robot's design needs to be constrained to human-like locomotion and manipulation.

    1:21 action failure is really quite something amazing. This means that Atlas can work in "normal" work environments where misshapen containers, dented trucks, uneven surfaces can all be navigated and adapted to. I am very impressed that this was considered, the amount of thought and work that must have gone into this is impressive!

      @gargoyled_drake 5 дней назад

      @@gilernt not that i think it is. But could easily be scripted.
      Honestly. Yes, this is impressive engineering. But the robot it self i don't know if that is too impressive. I guess the post office has it's new employees, Just as digital mail is killing of that last paper mail route.
      I'm not really sure why we even try to do this. It's not like they will ever be able to do what humans are capable of doing. I think the people who wants to hire a robot over a humans has to really consider if they have understood the potential of a human. And that maybe their lack of understanding that potential comes from them not actually having discoervered their own potential yet.

    • @gilernt
      @gilernt 4 дня назад +3

      @gargoyled_drake all that would actually likely be pretty hard to completely script from the ground up. they could plan a general route for it to take and for it to do certain motions, but if it's a bot with realtime sensors and data processing (which it is), it's highly unlikely that it's scripted.
      also i get your sentiment, but dude this is just a robot demo. and the last time someone said something along the lines of "it's not like they will ever be able to do what humans are capable of doing" was right before chatgpt was invented, before robots could walk, before the first iphone, etc; because this happens EVERY time new tech is invented lmao

We were tolerated to build their worlds. Now they have AI and automation to do that. Humans that are not in the top 5% will be removed. Most likely through a disease or virus, that way the elites can throw up their hands and say it wasn't us. That is of course only during the outbreak, after we're gone future generations of little elitists won't even know we existed.
