Assault's version still remains my absolute favorite (sassy trumpet solo ftw) but god damn if Zero's version doesn't come to a VERY close second-favorite. It's a fucking great fusion of all the styles of each different starwolf theme thus far imo.
Maybe he's angry because he gets weaker every version. For simplicity he follows the same AI as the others in 64, but later on canon catches up and Andrew's totally useless.
Wolf and Leon are basically equivalent to Fox and Slippy. Both sets of characters have known each other for years, going back to when they were younger. Fox/Slippy are childhood friends, Wolf/Leon served in the Venomian army together. So yeah, I think it's reasonable to say Leon is Wolf's best friend.
Star Fox Assault... that trumpet really makes you feel like shit is about to go down in the depths of space. Perfect setting. I just love the star wolf theme in general.
The main Star Wolf theme is extremely well written in all its iterations Assault and Zero versions being my favorites in that order from 1st to second. The theme has a sense of danger creating a kind of "Oh, Crap" feel as you realize that you're being targeted by one of the only groups in the galaxy that can potentially surpass your piloting skills, but at the same time it has heroic undertones reminding you that you are Star Fox and getting you pumped up for the battle against one of your greatest foes. To sum up, the initial feeling that the theme creates is: "Here We Go" Star Wolf themselves are extremely well-written villains even getting some sympathy in Star Fox Assault as you see that they are willing to put aside their rivalry to fight a common enemy (Except for Pigma and Andrew, I have a lot of words for those guys and none of them are nice) TL;DR, This is how you set the stage for Star Fox's rival.

The 64 theme is faster in tempo but I'm glad Assault slowed it down to get a more melancholy yet heroic (in a way) feeling If Assault added a choir element like Zero had it would be a godsend
I'd say the 2016 version from Zero would be my preferred Star Wolf theme, if only because it feels like what the Nintendo 64 version should have been had it been more polished as a piece.

This whole other (mostly) competent team flying against yours while also having to worry about your objectives for the stage. The chatter made me wish, just once, that Fox or Falco would have dropped a "Just shut up, already" after one of them fell.
Imho, as a prof.songwriter if the N64 version is your favorite and you don't, know why the reasons are as follows: 1) the best stereo mixing 2) the fastest tempo 3) the snare drums throughout. Ah, the joys of commenting on youtube... like screaming into the infinite the void of space.
If they bring back StarFox as a real series (starlink is great but not necessarily a whole StarFox game), they should implement the SF2 theme for a section of the song while the majority of it is based on the theme everyone knows.

Assault is definitely my favorite although I'm disappointed by the Zero version because it feels like it's going for the same vibe as the Smash versions but I think they both do it better. And obviously you can't go wrong with the nostalgic 64 ~instrumentation~. Star Fox 2 is quite different from the rest but is awesome on its own, I'd love to see nintendo make a version that blends the two compositions.
Star Fox as a series has so much potential. It's a shame that Nintendo keeps rehashing the plot of SF64. The last new game - and by "new" I mean one with an original story - was Star Fox Command, which was on the DS. That game was released in *2008.* Nintendo really just let this series die, huh. That's disappointing.
i think, if given the chance, Nintendo could license Star Fox over to Ubisoft and maybe they could make another Star Fox game, since Nintendo is out of creative ideas on where to move the series in terms of gameplay without re-hashing SF64. Ubisoft did do a good job with Mario Rabbids, so they could make an interesting space + ground game with Star Fox.
Kinda wish you also included the "Pigma Attacks" theme from Star Fox Zero since that basically is a Star Wolf theme, albeit it plays when you're attacked by a single member. It even plays during one of the solo battles with Wolf.

Will the Zero continuity cement them as evil villains? Or will they follow the 64/Adventures/Assault/Command continuity's path, where they became more anti-villains, with Wolf stating that he's the only one who can take Fox down?

Gonna drop the unpopular opinion that the 3DS remix is my favourite (though it's extremely low quality in this video). It was so faithful to the original. Didn't add any embellishment anywhere, didn't try to make it 'cooler'. Star Wolf is great as it is, and Star Fox 3D took only what was already there and made it better. Brawl is probably tied for first for very similar reasons. Assault is a contentious second - it didn't try to be Star Fox 64. It was its own thing, and it sounds absolutely fantastic.
I just cant go without the jazzy solo (saxophone I think?) in the assault version, so that gets my vote. 5:20-5:37 That section to me, is the essence of Wolf O'Donnell's character
I love the theme introduced in 64, but thank God they slowed it down in Assault and Zero. As intense as it is at it's original speed, it feels too fast. Zero's, albeit only slightly slowed down, is definitely better than 64's, and my favorite rendition.

I have but one suggestion (besides make Starfox 2 available via virtual console, that is). Make some sort of track list so I can tell which variation is which. There are several I don't recognize, but which sound great.
If I had to pick a favorite version of the Star Wolf theme, it probably be Assault's theme (mainly because it's nostalgia and Assault is the first game I was introduced to Star Wolf). 2nd favorite would Zero's since it's a bit similar to Assault's but more "action feel" in the Orchestra. 3rd is Smash 4, but to be fair Sector Z (Battle through the Ice) was in it and took half of the song. 4th is Brawl as it's a nice theme remix of N64's version. Command is rarely a good theme, but not as good compare to other versions N64/3DS and SF2 are just bland.
Algy isn’t Andrew, they’re two different characters. The only similarity they have is that they’re both primates. But Algy is a lemur while Andrew is a snow monkey, like Andross.
assault may not be the best game in gameplay...in time of gameplay, of course(it was so short T-T), but it has the best music in my opinion, i'm sure if it was longer, it WOULD be the fan favorite in the whole saga
For StarFox NX, I want a StarFox Spinoff game, that puts you in the eyes of StarWolf. The NX can have a Side Story of StarFox Zero that's just about StarWolf, and the REAL sequel to StarFox Zero. E3 2017 - We got the announcement of "StarWolf: A StarFox Side-Story" (NX), and coming in March, 2018. E3 2018 - We get the announcement to StarFox Zero 2 for the NX, and one of the last games on the NX. Do you want an StarFox Game just about StarWolf that is just a Side Story to StarFox Zero?
Have you ever played Sonic Adventure 2? In that game, you can play as hero or dark side (heroes or villains). It is very interesting, when there is a fight with Sonic and Shadow, for instance, you play as Sonic if you're on Hero Mode and as Shadow if you're on Dark. I think something similar could be done in a Star Fox game, with Fox and Wolf teams!
I would like that but then it goes beyond what we have seen in star fox games. As in it has you fighting fox and losing. Then you turn on Andross and become good in the end. Shows that star wolf is the true hero or something like that would be good. Nobody would be expecting it to end like that. Star Wolf flying off at the end playing the N64 star wolf theme with the credits rolling!
Review (my opnion Sf2: the first theme, and the only different tune from all of them Sf64: the classic Sfa: remix of the second, it doesn't even sounds like a fight theme Sfc: remix, nice soundfonts for a ds game. SSBB: remix, really sounds good that fits with the second. Sf3d: nailed Ssbu: upgraded version of the brawl Star fox zero: Nice orchestra Final results in my opnion: star fox 2 wolf theme is underrated asf and deserves better recognition.

I rember the first starfox. For its day it was quite amazing. Then sf64 came out and absolutely amazing! Graphics, voice tracks, game play. 64 was the best of the series. The ones after that were no comparison.
I don't get why everyone likes the Assault theme so much. I mean is really good but I don't like it as much becuase is slower in tempo and it doesn't fit the intense gun fight of the battle nor the Star Wolf team characteristic of being imponent rouges. My favorite is still the N64 one btw. It fits the personalities of the team and the fights themselves so perfectly.

I dunno, Zero was strong at first, then weakened significantly. But at least it more or less made up for it later on.
I've noticed that with a lot of the 64 OST, it doesn't tend to sound as good without combat chatter and battle SFX

For StarFox NX, I want a StarFox Spinoff game, that puts you in the eyes of StarWolf. The NX can have a Side Story of StarFox Zero that's just about StarWolf, and the REAL sequel to StarFox Zero.
E3 2017 - We got the announcement of "StarWolf: A StarFox Side-Story" (NX), and coming in March, 2018.
E3 2018 - We get the announcement to StarFox Zero 2 for the NX, and one of the last games on the NX.

Have you ever played Sonic Adventure 2? In that game, you can play as hero or dark side (heroes or villains). It is very interesting, when there is a fight with Sonic and Shadow, for instance, you play as Sonic if you're on Hero Mode and as Shadow if you're on Dark. I think something similar could be done in a Star Fox game, with Fox and Wolf teams!

I would like that but then it goes beyond what we have seen in star fox games. As in it has you fighting fox and losing. Then you turn on Andross and become good in the end. Shows that star wolf is the true hero or something like that would be good. Nobody would be expecting it to end like that. Star Wolf flying off at the end playing the N64 star wolf theme with the credits rolling!
my favorites are: Star Fox 64, Zero, Assault, and SF2(in that order)

Sf2: the first theme, and the only different tune from all of them
Sf64: the classic
Sfa: remix of the second, it doesn't even sounds like a fight theme
Sfc: remix, nice soundfonts for a ds game.
SSBB: remix, really sounds good that fits with the second.
Sf3d: nailed
Ssbu: upgraded version of the brawl
Star fox zero: Nice orchestra
Final results in my opnion: star fox 2 wolf theme is underrated asf and deserves better recognition.
My options:
SF2: Nice! 7/10
SF64: Who doesn’t know it? 8/10
SFA: One of the bests! 10/10
SFC: How in James McCloud’s name does the worst Star Fox game have one of the best Star Wolf theme?! I almost forgot this game was freaking Command! 9/10
Brawl: Too similar too Assault. 5/10
SF643D: It’s good, but the Og’s better. 6/10
Sm4sh: My least favorite. The match up with Sector Z doesn’t work very well. 4/10
SFZ: *GIVE ME THAT PARTITION, PLEASE!!!* 10/10.
Starlink (Though it’s not here): Ubisoft’s version it incredible! Bring it to Smash 6! 25/10

I rember the first starfox. For its day it was quite amazing. Then sf64 came out and absolutely amazing! Graphics, voice tracks, game play. 64 was the best of the series. The ones after that were no comparison.
I don't get why everyone likes the Assault theme so much. I mean is really good but I don't like it as much becuase is slower in tempo and it doesn't fit the intense gun fight of the battle nor the Star Wolf team characteristic of being imponent rouges.
My favorite is still the N64 one btw. It fits the personalities of the team and the fights themselves so perfectly.
I gotta say my preferences would be
1. Star Fox 2
2. Star Fox Assault
3. Star Fox Zero

Same in my opinion; the Starfox 2 theme really feels emotionally driven despite not having the best sound quality.
