For those that don't really know the story of Star Fox 2: in short, it was finished but wasn't released at the last minute because the Nintendo 64 was about to come out. A rom of an alpha version of the game eventually leaked, and also received a fan translation. That's the only Star Fox 2 we've been able to play, until now: it's going to be on the (soon to be released) SNES Classic. Some elements from Star Fox 2 were used in later Star Fox games, like 64 and Zero. It's really pretty awesome that they're finally releasing it, 22 years later. xD
Hopefully this'll renew interest in Star Fox. Because y'know Zero did a pretty piss poor job of that for reasons I don't wanna get into. (I still say Assault was the best Star Fox ever made and they should use that as their basis for a new one)
Falcovsleon21 I liked Zero. It's not as good as 64, sure (I can't speak for 1), but it's still really pretty, and I do like how they shook things up with the final boss.
+Chieff Yes it is. They didn't want to release a 3D game on the super as that would take focus away from the 64. If devs and consumers saw that the super could do full 3D games they feared that the 64 would flounder. It was the right call in the long run considering how strong the playstation was and how awkward the 64's hardware was for developers.
