When I played this back when it came out I wondered why Saturos' theme sounded so heroic. Then playing TLA I finally understood, he WAS the hero. WE were the villains the whole time.

Taking hostages, assaulting children, and all around just doing as they pleased.

Here's one thing I have seen that I can't believe I never picked up on. The general boss music for the two games and the other boss specific music (doom/fusion dragons) are chaotic with sounds of dread. But when you fight Saturos, it sounds like an epic protagonist soundtrack, like he's on his own adventure as a hero. And the Saturos/Menardi theme is similar with slight bit more dread since they are at their last straw trying to survive and save the world. Agatio and Karst, while still human bosses, still have the dread/evil intent music because they are fuled by deception and revenge, whereas Saturos and Menardi still have a heroic tune. They are the chosen saviors of the world from Prox, and we didn't get that hint that they were doing the right thing until far too late for remembering the soundtrack again. Their theme only becomes evil when they are pushed and have to become a monster to survive and finish their quest. The attention to detail in the music is insane

I love your Golden Sun covers, because they sound like what I imagined them sounding like when I played the game as a kid. This is what I'd imagine they would have sounded like if the game had been on current-gen hardware instead of the GBA.
Right on the money. Sakuraba is a progressive rock musician and if you listen to The True Mirror Guitar Version (Baten Kaitos OST) which uses much higher quality midi samples (GameCube) you can really hear what he was going for with Golden Sun.
I think it has to be stated I love how GaMetal always uses synthesised keyboard sounds when it's _right_ to do so. Too many "orchestration" and re-imaginations of game songs remove the feel of the song by trying to emulate a sound with real instruments that just can't be.

Golisopod, The Sweet toothed Shadow thief It's an alright game in it's own right. But it makes bad choices considering the plot and geography of Weyward after the Golden Sun.
The transition into Saturos (+Menardi) @2:46 was so awesome. That track really gets your heart pumping & evokes a sense of panic. You're at the top of the lighthouse...face-to-face with now TWO Elite Fire Adepts...You are no longer in control of the situation. Absolute Banger.

Golden Sun is still one of my favorite games of all time and Saturos and Menardi's themes are among my favorites of the franchise.
