Star Fox Zero is a game that just annoys me. They spent so much on the cinematic view that, rather uncharacteristically of Nintendo and Miyamoto in particular as he was the brain of this game, they neglected the gameplay to the point this cinematic perspective shifting is an active detriment to the gameplay. I crashed too many times cause the cinematic aspect skewed my perception of my physical location.

I don't know if Leon's original voice actor returned, or if he got a replacement that sounds very similar. The former is believable, because your voice changes with age, especially after 19 years between your first and latest roles as the same character.

Word of advice; should you play Adventures, approach it with an open mind. Don't judge it based on its predecessors, judge it as a game in its own right. It'll help, trust me.
I love how they took the 64 personalities and turned them up a bit. Wolf went from a posh braggart to a somewhat less posh, but more collected braggart. Leon went from smug and cultured to a somehow smugger and more posh personality. Pigma went from an evil jerk with a money fetish to an evil SCUMBAG with a money fetish who loves to rub his success in other people's faces and whines harder when he loses. Andrew went from inexperienced and somewhat privilleged to that annoying rich kid who thinks he's the best because his Uncle buys everything he wants. It's great because it emphasizes their worst traits, and really solidifies Star Wolf as the villains rather than Assault's anti-hero characterization.
Assault's a sequel though. I liked the way they were there, it was progression from what they were in 64, and here. These are definitely an improvement over 64's simpler writing, agreed there.
Matthew while I understand the mindset that your looking at this with, that was the point. Star wolf is supposed to be the “dark starfox”. That’s why there’s four of them to the four of the members of team starfox, and why each of them only ever tried to shoot down their opposites. It’s also devaluing the game when the characters complain so much. In starfox 64, which is the game that this game so clearly wants to be, the characters are snarky sometimes, but there are multiple lines of dialogue in which they are extremely serious. In starfox 64, Andrew is annoying, but at least the way the voice actor delivered their lines to make it sound like he was qualified for the job. In starfox zero, the character acts and sounds like a little kid, and his outbursts make the player want say things along the lines of “stfu”, and not in a way that is spiteful of the character, but in a way that is spiteful of the game, and the way that the game presents the characters as characters. The series as a whole is meant to be seriously, even when it is a game about personified animals flying spaceships, and starfox zero completely misses the point by making the opposites to starfox so damn annoying
Team Starwolf seems more like a generic Rival. Assault gave them an actual purpose as Pirates/ gangsters/ Thugs. The counter balance to Fox's small Mid Military Operation. "Elite Warriors for hire". Anti Hero's who won't hesitate to rob or kill you blind if you slip up once. Wolf is a Gang Lord/Pirate king like Jabba. But the difference is that Wolf is on the frontlines. Fox is a Captain and a Leader.
The thing is, being the most collected on his team doesn't do Wolf any favors IMO. If anything, this game doesn't really have much vitriol from Wolf, and more like the mercenary-for-hire and pawn in Andross's scheme that he is.

Ok that one on one fight against wolf is now one of my favorite boss fights EVER. I mean come on it's both the leaders duking it out with wolf showing his true colors and real skills transforming his wolfen into the wolf runner, plus that new dash attack was something else too, and it's also a fairly challenging battle too. I liked all the starwolf fights in this game but this one definitely stood out.
I sometimes wonder just what Nintendo wants to do with Wolf, on 64 he’s a mercenary just like Fox, who happens to be hired by the opposite side of war, on Assault he actually helps StarFox and in Command, he’s like neutral, but in Starlink he’s like a full on evil space conqueror, so what is it?
I know, Wolf is a bit… complicated. I think he mainly works with Andross and his army, but refuses to let someone that isn’t Andross (or a member of his army and/or member of Wolf’s team) take over the Lylat system. Actually, it’s simple: To his eyes, only him, any members of Star Wolf, Andross and any member of his army (except those who betray them, of course.) can take over the Lylat System. (If someone who isn’t in any of those armies tries to do it, it’s likely Wolf would help that person… except if it backstabbed him.) Wolf is willing to go to Atlas and team up with other outlaws to take over Corneria by using Primes. When his plan fails, he calls his teammates to help him take over the Equinox, which fails again.
Leon Powalski has a very weird and inconsistent choice of voice acting. His voice ranges from either deep and smooth talking, to high pitched and raspy.

The last Starfox I enjoyed was Assault. The choice to fight on land or in the air with a huge arsenal was pretty badass. I'd personally prefer that sort of entry over their sorta rail shooter approach that's classic. ..yet they still refuse to make Wolf playable in their modern games :u
I actually love Assault, as well as Adventures, more than 64. Especially Assault because it had more variety and he characters' voices weren't so dang annoying. Plus, your teammates ACTUALLY show you gratitude when you save them. Also, it was the first time I saw Krystal, who's honestly one of Nintendo's few good female characters. It upsets me that they hardly did anything with her, but will work with that dumb blonde, damsel-in-distress stereotype. Also, I wish they'd put Wolf in SSB4.
I love how there special attacks are stronger versions of the R Wing's Plasma Shield = Charge Shot Pigma Bomb = Smart Bomb Lightning Tornado = Both Barrel Roll and Boost at the same time

I prefer the Assault version of Starwolf. Panther is twice as badass as Pigma and Andrew could ever be, and Leon seemed more cooler and reptilian like.
I would've loved for Panther to come back, rather than the stupid swine and the annoying ape. Even as a kid, they got under my skin very quickly. But Panther was actually cool, and I did like the sadistic-sounding Leon more. Also, Wolf's Southern voice is awesome. Grant Goodeve was a good choice for Wolf.
At 4:10, we can see that Fox is facing off against the two Star Wolf members that Wolf kicked off his team by Star Fox Assault. And yeah I actually can see what those two have in common enough to understand why they’d both be kicked off.
Some of these fights are actually legitimately hard. I was expecting this game to be too easy but I actually died a few times in the fight against Wolf and I almost died against Pigma and Andrew.
That's probably why this game was made. To go back to what got the Star Fox brand popular in the first place. Personally, I think they succeeded. It's one of my favorite Wii U games.

Ik, the Sector Beta is a great example of a video game company spoiling a fanbase. (Honestly, Krystal, Fay, Miyu and Panther are the only things that are missing, but considering this is a reboot of 64, where they don’t appear, I can understand.)
Those cybernetics are to help them better pilot the Wolfen II. The schematics: The Wolfen II was the most advanced ships in Andross's arsenal, manufactured in the weapons labs on Macbeth. Technologically advanced in comparison to the Star Fox team's Arwing starfighters in several areas: its G-Diffuser unit was greatly improved allowing a better shielding system, quicker recharge for performing loops, Immelmann turns, boosts, and brakes, and supported an anti-Smart bomb and anti-charge beam systems, effectively rendering Charged Lasers and Smart Bombs worthless against them. It upgraded its single lasers to twin lasers, making it effectively more powerful than the Wolfen. Also, these fighters could barrel roll like the Arwings to deflect lasers, but only for a moment. The Arwing's only advantage was in its maneuverability with its ability to hold a tighter turn. In fact, the fighters were so advanced and elaborate that the pilots who controlled it required special targeting gear and life support equipment to handle the speed and maneuverability of the fighter.
+Cartoon Eric (Cartoon Eric) It's a good game, but screen switching is a pain. I only just barely got the hang of it after like 9 hours of play time and even now it's still something I only use when I absolutely have to. Thankfully it only comes into play during some of the boss fights. Most of the game can be played using the third person view exclusively.

The controls and the screen are easy to get used to, especially if you switch the motion control setting in the options, and the length is a non-issue because of all the paths and side content in the game.
This game would be the perfect revival for Star Fox except that the writing is laughably horrendous, and the voice actors' performances are ones that after almost every line here, I had to pause to take in how little sense a lot of their lines make. While they did fix Fox's voice from SSB4, they dragged the other characters down (especially Andrew and Pigma). Even for a game (which isn't the same as a movie, where I developed my critical view of things with a plot), this is inexcusable.
It is quite impressive that Wolf can be inside of an exploding ship and then only require a band-aid afterwards.

Ok that one on one fight against wolf is now one of my favorite boss fights EVER. I mean come on it's both the leaders duking it out with wolf showing his true colors and real skills transforming his wolfen into the wolf runner, plus that new dash attack was something else too, and it's also a fairly challenging battle too. I liked all the starwolf fights in this game but this one definitely stood out.
I sometimes wonder just what Nintendo wants to do with Wolf, on 64 he’s a mercenary just like Fox, who happens to be hired by the opposite side of war, on Assault he actually helps StarFox and in Command, he’s like neutral, but in Starlink he’s like a full on evil space conqueror, so what is it?
I know, Wolf is a bit… complicated. I think he mainly works with Andross and his army, but refuses to let someone that isn’t Andross (or a member of his army and/or member of Wolf’s team) take over the Lylat system. Actually, it’s simple: To his eyes, only him, any members of Star Wolf, Andross and any member of his army (except those who betray them, of course.) can take over the Lylat System. (If someone who isn’t in any of those armies tries to do it, it’s likely Wolf would help that person… except if it backstabbed him.) Wolf is willing to go to Atlas and team up with other outlaws to take over Corneria by using Primes. When his plan fails, he calls his teammates to help him take over the Equinox, which fails again.

The new Star Wolf theme is epic! All the remixes in the game were fabulous, but no new soundtracks stood out to me.

The last Starfox I enjoyed was Assault. The choice to fight on land or in the air with a huge arsenal was pretty badass. I'd personally prefer that sort of entry over their sorta rail shooter approach that's classic.

I actually love Assault, as well as Adventures, more than 64. Especially Assault because it had more variety and he characters' voices weren't so dang annoying. Plus, your teammates ACTUALLY show you gratitude when you save them. Also, it was the first time I saw Krystal, who's honestly one of Nintendo's few good female characters. It upsets me that they hardly did anything with her, but will work with that dumb blonde, damsel-in-distress stereotype. Also, I wish they'd put Wolf in SSB4.

Star Fox Assault made me like Slippy. Star Fox Zero makes me like Andrew, and kind of Pigma too.
Both Andrew and Pigma seem to have more personality than in the other games.
I prefer the Assault version of Starwolf. Panther is twice as badass as Pigma and Andrew could ever be, and Leon seemed more cooler and reptilian like.

I would've loved for Panther to come back, rather than the stupid swine and the annoying ape. Even as a kid, they got under my skin very quickly. But Panther was actually cool, and I did like the sadistic-sounding Leon more. Also, Wolf's Southern voice is awesome. Grant Goodeve was a good choice for Wolf.

Some of these fights are actually legitimately hard. I was expecting this game to be too easy but I actually died a few times in the fight against Wolf and I almost died against Pigma and Andrew.
They can be a pain in hard mode on the 64.

Ik, the Sector Beta is a great example of a video game company spoiling a fanbase. (Honestly, Krystal, Fay, Miyu and Panther are the only things that are missing, but considering this is a reboot of 64, where they don’t appear, I can understand.)

Those cybernetics are to help them better pilot the Wolfen II. The schematics: The Wolfen II was the most advanced ships in Andross's arsenal, manufactured in the weapons labs on Macbeth. Technologically advanced in comparison to the Star Fox team's Arwing starfighters in several areas: its G-Diffuser unit was greatly improved allowing a better shielding system, quicker recharge for performing loops, Immelmann turns, boosts, and brakes, and supported an anti-Smart bomb and anti-charge beam systems, effectively rendering Charged Lasers and Smart Bombs worthless against them. It upgraded its single lasers to twin lasers, making it effectively more powerful than the Wolfen. Also, these fighters could barrel roll like the Arwings to deflect lasers, but only for a moment. The Arwing's only advantage was in its maneuverability with its ability to hold a tighter turn. In fact, the fighters were so advanced and elaborate that the pilots who controlled it required special targeting gear and life support equipment to handle the speed and maneuverability of the fighter.
This game actually doesn't look too bad.

I only just barely got the hang of it after like 9 hours of play time and even now it's still something I only use when I absolutely have to. Thankfully it only comes into play during some of the boss fights. Most of the game can be played using the third person view exclusively.

The controls and the screen are easy to get used to, especially if you switch the motion control setting in the options, and the length is a non-issue because of all the paths and side content in the game.
This game would be the perfect revival for Star Fox except that the writing is laughably horrendous, and the voice actors' performances are ones that after almost every line here, I had to pause to take in how little sense a lot of their lines make. While they did fix Fox's voice from SSB4, they dragged the other characters down (especially Andrew and Pigma). Even for a game (which isn't the same as a movie, where I developed my critical view of things with a plot), this is inexcusable.
