- So we may or may not have done a video similar to this in the past, however, coilovers can get a little confusing when you start to get into them. Today Alex goes over different types of coilovers and how they can make a difference when installed on your car.

Alright, I think the final piece missing is how to adjust coilovers. It would be super helpful to see you all do that video!
I agree, please explain all the adjustabilities.
That would be so much help
yea youre right can they also do a video on how to drive automatic please

The most underrated comment
Except he doesn't drop everything, is not sponsored by tunnelbear and actually talks about stuff and doesn't fuck around for half an hour before doing something.
Why the diss on Fitment Industries? Kidding I know you were complimenting them, I'd just rather watch these guys any day.
Except for the little bit of the misinformation on twin tube vs mono
I come here for Alex’s comedy, the knowledge is just a side thing🤣🤣
Same 😂
Protip, instead of using a tape measure to make sure all your coils are even, buy some cheap digital calipers from harbor freight. Easier to measure with and more precise.
Great idea
I could just use a toothpick or any piece of paper, cut it the ideal lenght u want and then do this lenght adjustment to all sides.
@@jackcollin1695 I've never thought of that lol
If youre less than a 1/32 tolerance youll be fine. Its not a military aircraft or F1 hell even a 1/16 should be fine but its easy to read 1/32
Jack Collin toothpick though? lol well.. that is a solid improv, carry on
So Alex can correctly explain semi-complex physics with his explanation of what happens inside the shock but he can't pronounce epitome......JK ALEX YOU'RE A FABULOUS PERSON IM SORRY
Super helpful and educational video. I’ve got a 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG that I’m thinking of putting coil overs on, as well as a wide body conversion. I’m a novice when it comes to actually modifying and upgrading a car, up until now I’ve only done repairs and basic maintenance. Definitely feel more confident putting mods on my car after seeing you guys saying to do it and seeing how knowledgeable you are about how the parts actually work and affect the car as a whole. Keep up the good work guys!
I know this is an old comment but I'm in shock at how similar our names are 😯
I run the Tein Flex Z with EDFC Active Pro on my 92 EG Hatch. The coil overs are a twin tube design. I absolutely love them. The EDFC has got to be one of the best things ever created. Next up for my car is a new set of wheels and tire!!!

Considering we're in the rust belt Alex, I think you should have touched on the importance of pre-installation lubrication of threads on the strut body. I believe we get coilovers to be able to adjust our suspension more than once, before you use it, take them apart and lube the threads with some anti-seize. Then thank yourself 3 weeks later when your springs settle and you need to raise up a bit.
Ehhh!!! That kid Emmerson!! Committed Crew we out here! Glad I checked this out... totally helped me make some decisions about suspension, wheels and tires!! Excellent site and excellent info in the videos

The red GS you guys put in your videos is 🔥🔥🔥. Another great vid dudes.
Love the vids man
Man this is the best channel ever! 👏👏👏
❤️
Nice Alex, started following the channel recently just had some tein flex z installed on my Subaru legacy wagon, 18x8.75 square sits flush, great content keep it up,
Not sure if you have done it, can you do a video showing, explaining how to measure wheel dimensions, width offset to fit your verious cars fender. Have you done this already, how else can you know what will fit without a test fit?
Can you guys make a video on adjusting Coilovers because there are so many videos out there that its confusing. For someone starting out like me I love how ya'll make it easy to learn. My goal is to get my car on your sight and reviewed (eventually working on the set up so i can save up)
Thanks guys
P.S. shout out to Alex for being that guy.
Knew about wheel fitment industry because I reside in the same state and saw them at car meets and shows. Next you know, I start watching Robbie's videos and recongnized the wheel fitment industry windshield banner on his brz. Both of which I subscribed to. Amazing content, you can't miss it.
Blessed 🙏🏼 Thank you!
I bought Tein Flex Zs, Ran them for about a year and a half, went to Tuner Evolution in Chicago this year annndddd now I’m going bags
This actually helped a lot thank you
Glad we could help!
Should be receiving my Tein Flex Z coils from you guys this week 🙌
Upload your ride to the gallery sometime man we would love to see how low you can go! bit.ly/2Ma4oca
Very informative. Now I understand the difference between monotube and dual tube

I thought the wheel wall looked familiar when I watched my first Fitment Industries video.....Custom Offsets! I Drive by the garage all the time!
Thanks for the info, I'ma be building something hopefully soon
Robbie robbie fuck yeah... Glad to see the dude grow
to get the most out of your stance setup, adjust the ride hight on each side to match wheel gap. to get the most out of your performance setup, get a corner balance.
Mine does this ;) good vid as usual !
I love this channel
0:03 alright macho-man...
I love coils! Bought my first set like 4 years ago for my v70, they were one of the cheap ones, now ive bought for my golf 2, not the cheapest this time and for my next car ill get something expensive so i can feel the difference.
i thought your background was added in post processed! well now i know its all real!! (y)
Great information .I’m doing some research do turn a fabia vrs tdi into a track car . Thanks for knowledge . Won’t be just cutting the spring anymore
Ima visit fitment industries. And do a video with them. You guys are a godsend for the car community. ✊🏿✊🏿
You’re awesome bro! Thank you!
❤️
Love your videos. You should do so you want to buy a Toyota Corolla video. I know they are not fast cars , but they are nice cruisers and like nice when built right .
Ive got a olds. Alero. The only thing ive found is some grand am lowering springs, and i plan to purchase them soon. I bet you can take a guess where from 😉
Actually, when paired with a good damper, standard OD coilover sleeves have a lot of performance benefits and is far better than cheap coilovers because the damping characteristics are better and spring rates can be tuned. Also, having an adjustable coilover body generally shows cheap construction and a lack of development because it allows the company to build a standard size without worrying about stroke length. Basically all coilovers designed for real motorsports are made with the correct stroke in mind, so they do not require the body to be adjusted.
from what i have seen, even the cheapest coils will keep the complete travel and just adjust the spring seating position up and down the tube lowering and raising you car with out changing the travel of you suspension. and you can even get a custom shaft length when you order, even with cheapo XYZ's
My understanding of twin vs. mono tube contradicts with what's said in this video. Mono-tube coilovers seem to be the more costly option from most companies. KWV3 seems to be the odd exception because it needs the twin-tube to allow the feature that separately adjust the bound/rebound valving.
You’re correct.
Great video...it’s the most detailed video about coilovers I’ve watched...but there is one main question I didn’t find the answer for it...everyone has it’s own definition for ride quality...but what I’m looking for is more comfortable ride because of my medical condition (I have a herniated disk) and I own a 03 mustang gt convertible...so will i be more comfortable with conventional springs and struts (OEM or after market)or a coilover...and which brand do you recommend...? Thanks in advance
I have D2 coilovers
Soon imma buy wheels from you guys soon 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪 can’t wait
HELL YEAH homie! Upload your ride to our gallery sometime we would love to see more pics with some new wheels! bit.ly/2Ma4oca
Definetly going through you guys when i buy the car🙌
Hey man can you PLEASE talk about the helper springs on the top area of the coils on a coilover... I recently bought the black flag coilovers and in curious about that
Great video
Keep the videos coming guys.
I'm running an h&r monotube on my e46 and a kw v3 in my e36 Compact. The difference is stunning. Espacially in midspeed corners i get so much more grip it's perfect. I thought maybe it's less comfortable but the kW gives you a Lot of comfort, the h&r doesn't.
FC Zocker so which is better monotube or twintube?
I've been told that I should mod my exhaust set up prior to actually lowering the car to prevent scraping, is there anything else necessary to change before I drop my car? Thanks, I appreciate the in depth videos ✌🏼
You should make a video of coilover springs for pick up trucks, or coilovers that will work with small pick-ups like s10's, rangers, or just about any, if at all possible, but these videos are great, and so much knowledge prior to purchasing a coilover or airbag suspension
Great suggestion man! I feel like we could make a video like that, that everyone would enjoy!
that VDub tho... clean af!
The whole point of height adjustable suspension is to be able to properly corner balance a car, reduction in ride height is just an added benefit.
Sure but lower centre of gravity is a great performance mod, even with just good springs.
hey guys ,love the videos. keep them coming. quick question? what would you recommend for my bmw e93 335i msport 2011 for coilovers? I have been looking at the kw variant 2 or 3. It would be used for more street than track but am looking for performance, lowering( but not to the floor) and comfort. I am in two minds but need help asap. im from London uk . thanks andy
Hey Andy, KW is a great option otherwise I would suggest possibly BC racing coilovers!
Love the video. I haven't looked yet but do you have how to adjust the height once on the car. Also what is the rim second row from the bottom second one over.
Those would be the 3SDM 00.04 which we have available here! ---> bit.ly/2ORJqzX
That golf r 😍😍😍
Good video. Would be nice to see one on how to care for coilovers on a dd, specially if down the road you want to raise or lower it and realize almost everything is seized. Seen this on a couple sets of bc coilovers.
Def something we are looking into, A topic a lot of people request!
Ksport kontrol pro coil overs are what I'm getting for my 2016 honda civic touring
I'm interested in finding more about the twin tube system vs the mono tube. I have a 91 MR2 and handling definitely is on of biggest priority. Would this compliment a V6 set up more or the mono tube.
Any other subscribers willing to give more info are gladly appreciated.
Function and form type 2s. Height dampening and preload all independant 750 bucks and it's an amazing ride quality and performance
Whats up Alex, do you guys do or work on classic car fitments, i have a 68 mustang, and i want that dope ass fitment, would love to see a video on something like that!

Aye man I'm running twin tube and would have loved to hear more about em
Dude I bought my suspension (Megan’s)lol and I had someone put them on my frs and I still don’t get it. Coil overs have so much depth js
I’m driving a 2013 Bmw 335is and am looking at upgrading to coilovers sometime in the near future. H&R has a set that state they are 30-40% lighter in weight than others. I like the idea of less weight. Should this concern me, does it make it worthwhile? Can I get your advice on this?
Love It . F****** Frosty . . . . Thanks
Thanks I’m in!
I legit looked at FI's website znd yall had exactly what i was looking for for a 2001 jetta, wheels, tires, and suspencion that i picked out came out to just over 4k, which is perfect and very reasonable
I just ordered some cosmis mr7s from you guys this weekend, they’re backordered but I’m still hyped !!! Gonna buy some coilovers for both my cars from you guys soon too
I am looking to build my first car. I have built trucks with lifts and engine performance mods. So I bought myself a 2016 Dart and I am looking to build a super sleeper. I get the engine stuff. That's easy. It's going to get forged pistons and rods, stud kit, cam, injectors, turbo system and ECU. But I am a total noob with suspension and tire setups. It is my daily driver so I am trying to balance fun and reliability. I would like to do coilovers, 18×8 to8.5 rims. What kind of advice can you give me? What kind of setup should I budget for.

I'm currently in the process of modifying my car, but it's so much $$$ I have to take some part of my paycheck every month and do some, there's no way I can do them all together. So, I divided my mods into 'stages', like roush or something, I thought it would sound cool, like "My car is in Stage 2 bro!"
Till now there were no reason to do an actual suspension mod, because, let's be frank, I was just ricing with halos and switchback LEDs and stuff.
But now I started my forced induction, it's become necessary to overhaul the intake, gear and the exhaust system, also aerodynamics but most importantly wheels, suspensions and breaks. Coilovers with bigger better breaks, tires and other suspension mods will make your ride more responsive, cut out body roll, improve break bias, lowering. Basically, you can stay flat in the corners. And yeah need some good old bucket seats too.
Would love to see the ride uploaded to our gallery sometime homie! bit.ly/2Ma4oca
What is the best set up suspension for Circuit Track on an IS300 2002? OEM strut and coil spring or Full Body Coilover
Are they good for all season weather!?? because I’ want to change the original stocks to coilovers but I don’t know what brands are good and if they are all season type coilovers??
Please talk about 2 and 3 way coilovers, Im running Stance XR3's on my SC400.

i have a 2015 mazda 3..ive always been into the car scene but never new the stuff that goes on behind the scenes and now that i have a well paying job im trying to get my parts sorted and learn the stuff before i get everything.. im not sure what coil overs to get, i want a flushed looked and i dont really know fitment stuff but iv e been tryna watch and understand the videos you guys post, not only that in one of your other videos you said something like if you want to really dial in your suspension your gonna wanna know what the damper and something else is..
i know this is all gonna take time but i dont wanna just get everything and throw it all together, i wanna lay everything out and put it together the right way and make sure everything is good.. ;/
ive asked some friends about coil overs and wheels, but i still feel lost.
I have a 2016 VW Jetta. Which coilover brand would you recommend for an entry-level setup.
I don't have a coil-over setup as of yet. But I have a 2007 Hyundai Atos gls prime which has had work done to it. It has 150hp as opposed to its orginal 49hp and the suspension is worn out. what suspension setup should I get for it as a street car for authorised events?
Im running oem style nissan coil overs. Dont know much more about them than that. Def, need to change them out. Both cars have around 200k on factory coils.
A Video of bags over coils would be dope
What gold wheel is that next to your head there, The one with the Silver lip in the background??
Should i get coilovers for my b8 audi s4? What type should I get? Should I save up to bag due to speed bumps and road conditions? Or should I get lowering springs due to the Electronic Dampening System?

Are tien flex z a good set of budget coilovers? Are they a nice balance between ride quality and performance? Ive been eyeing them for my 2013 BRZ and i want a profesional opinion lol
Absolutely man! Not even trying to fanboy any brands we just have had a couple guys here running the Flex z coils and they are definitely the best bang for your buck!
How do you feel about removal of helper springs to increase how low you can go
BC coilovers for president in my humble opinion... but really never had a issue. Your coilovers can only be great if installed properly.
Hi fitment can you buy coilovers for the comfortable riding because i dont want my car lowered even by an inch or when you buy a coilover it needs to get lowered?
Do you guys offer shipping services?
I stay in Africa and I loved what i saw.
Any opinion on external reservoir coilovers? And why there sometimes more expensive.
Okay so don't flame me, I just found out about you guys.
I haven't looked yet but before I go looking, do you have a video about air rides systems? And if you can you link it for the next viewer

I have 2 ford festiva’s 1990 and to get coil overs many are using golf coil what do you recommend so I can place my order 😁
do you have a coilover shock for a 1992 VW Mexican Combi ? it's a VW Van or transporter type 2.... I used to have a 1972 VW van, and my mechanic introduced me to the best suspension ever, thats why I need a set now.
I really appreciate all the help you can give me .
I just checked and I do not see anything!
Fitment Industries , thanks for answering.
If you find them , Would you please let me know , because I’m real serious about buying them
I use spring clamps. Keeps the ride pretty soft, adjustable for seasons and rim changes, inexpensive and completely safe. Fight me on it.
the springs are not designed t be clamped so you are not getting the progression you'll get with a propper lowered spring... one would think. also with coil overs you can retain the complete travel of you suspension.
Make more of these videos on different modifications
I'm using Coilovers on my 2001 Mercedes CL500 by Strutmasters, but I'm considering buying some from Yellow Speed. Any thoughts?
