- The NES Contra was actually the first video game I ever played. The Contra series introduced me to the world of video games so it holds a special place in my heart, being a huge of this series for a long time, it's good to finally see a Contra game that actually looks and plays like a Contra game, after all the previous abominations that we got.

I remember playing Contra and Super C back when I was a kid (must've been like 6-7 years old) with my brother. We did the Konami code for extra lives, but I'm pretty sure we got so good at it, that we did completely deathless runs. Now, in current time, I don't think I can trust my reaction speed or hand-eye coordination as much.

Wow. The nostalgia factor. Is this like the first Contra? The island looks familiar. For me, it's like the first NES Contra made for modern game consoles.
This is the way Contra should be played. Hope this isn't only for consoles and have a PC version. Those days huh, with the 30 lives code. Haha hope this version has it as well. This is akin to my childhood revisited. Thumbs up.
I played it on PC, it's gonna be available for PC, Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox.
And yes, the first stage seems to be heavily inspired by stage 1,2 and 3 from the first NES Contra.

Nowadays they really give HP to all characters in video game huh instead of 1 hit KO from the enemy. I think the Metal Slug also has HP system too.
This game has both the HP bar and one hit death system, the new Contra games implemented this because they are generally way harder (and longer) than the old school Contra games. You could master each level with the HP bar and then attempt your run with the 1 hit KO mode. It's better this way since it will keep the game more accessible to both average and hardcore gamers.
That’s right, they have to try to appeal to a new audience as well as keep it’s fans which is how you do it unlike other games who forget their core fans to appeal to a newer audience who still may not like or overlook the game.perfect time to be a fan of the old 2D era games. Street of Rage 4, TNMNT Shredders revenge and now Contra. I wonder what the special surprise suppose to be for those who beat the demo? It better either be Contra 4 from the DS or let us get access to this game a week early.
Done right ? Hmm well for the most part the graphics and story good so far but the music isn’t pretty good like in Contra 3 Alien wars, it can do for the game though.
True, the music is lacking and I wished they had hired virt to compose the music for this game (the guy who did the music for Contra 4 and is also a Contra fan) but overall this is the best Contra game we got after the 2011 Hard Corps Uprising.

Why would someone play this instead any of the Metalslug games is beyond me.
