The difference between Laser, and regular Machine gun is the Laser ricochets to the nearest enemy. Really good for a lot of enemies. Oh and of course the overloads all are completely different

Think I'll pick this up. This reminds me almost exactly of the hidden gem Hard Corps on the PS3. I don't even think you can get it anymore on the Playstation Store sadly :(.
I tried the demo and loved it in single player. However, in multiplayer, it's pretty hard to see the enemies' bullets compared to yours and your friends. Still a really fun game though. I might get the full version. :)
Is this one of those games that is harder playing solo or do they increase enemies/bullets when more than one person plays? Because I found the demo kinda hard by myself. But would probably be easy if nothing is changed when playing 2,3, or 4 players.
Blazing Chrome is Contra Hard Corps, which is that one unorthodox Contra title from the Sega Genesis. I'm glad Galuga kept truer to the Nintendo entries. Feels more genuine and balanced.
I didn’t like shattered soldier compared to this. I literally can’t put this down. Not many video games do that to me these days. I’ve beaten Galuga like 24 times already lol. Shattered Soldier didn’t feel like Contra to me as much as the NES/Genesis/SNES games did. This one feels like straight up contra 5 to me, even if it’s basically just a retelling of contra 1. Phenomenal game with crazy replay value

I tried it on switch and hated it, then found it was locked at 30 fps. Tried on PC at 60 and felt better, but not good enough. Had a very mobile game feel to the design and didnt feel very hard. I would have rather had the ps3 hardcorps rising ported. That was freaking awesome and still locked on a dead system :(

Nope... runs at an unstable 30fps! Pretty F'in pathetic. I'm waiting until I can buy one of the handheld PC's before getting this game (i.e the Ally, Steamdeck or Legion go). You couldn't pay me to play the Switch ver of this game... because this game, and other 2D run'in gun games like it, are practically required (imo) to run at a solid 60fps due to the precision & accuracy needed to be able to get the most out of the game.

The amount of lives you can earn past 100 is crazy and awesome really bad part though they reset all of the lives that you got but not from dying you save my game but this does nothing at all for lives you earn overtime.
Got my physical copy today. I had a blast already. It could look a bit more detailed here and there, but otherwise there's a good overview about the level and the bullets. This game totally nails it, true to its Nintendo roots and offers new mechanics. The content is also nice, I love it. ❤

The way you pronounced Galuga changed a bit in the video. I was listening in the background initially, and i thought it was related to Galaga - the old space invadery game. I love Way Forward's Shantae series and by the looks of this review, I'm quite keen on other brands trusting Way Forward with popular side scrolling franchises. They deliver what gamers want.
Get the Xbox or PS5 version. Switch version runs well, but just can't compare. You can look up Mike Matei's video. He did a video playing both Swtich and PS5. You can see how much shaper and more vibrant PS5 version is. Much more details. Smooth 60 fps as opposed to 30.
Retro sequels/remakes always have that problem--how much should be changed before the game is too different from what made it a classic originally? The developers here chose the side of caution, and I'm okay with that.
Seriously, after Shattered Soldier and Neo ruined the series' lore by revealing the aliens were actually trying to recover a lost artifact and that the government was behind everything and even going as far as to make Lance Bean and Lucia into antagonists, and after the shit show that was Rogue Corps, a complete, 100% reboot of the franchise is just the right thing we needed.

Wayforward built their success on a half naked jeenie. I have noticed all their new games now are all westernized. I will not support a company that turned their back on what made them popular. The guys are jacked and half naked. While the main lady has a very well placed tactical vest that makes no sense. You could argue logic, but the guys are half naked, they are not practical at all.
Sterile and bland are completely subjective and mean something different to everyone. Why do you need a review to personally tell you the graphics look bland when you can literally see the graphics, and they appear bland to you? That's a big weird if you ask me.

I play the 360 version on the Series S and it completely reduces the load times. Still goes on sale too. Highly recommend
Had a lot of fun with the demo, replayed it a few times just for fun. I liked Blazing Chrome and Valfaris, but nice to have a proper Contra back.
Blazing Chrome was alright. I just wish the pick-ups in that game weren’t random.

Hard Corps for the PS3/360 is still the best "modern" Contra
The cheap 3d graphics look worse than hard corps uprising which must be 15 years old by now. I laughed my ass off when I saw the price
