Thats because phones are less managable than laptops. In other words, you need high end tech to fit that into a laptop, when its easy with phones. For example. Oled displays.
Why are there no USB ports or DVD or at least a Blue Ray included in the Mac Book Pro? Why only 1 fan in the low end Pro? How much should low end and high end Pro's cost in AUD? I think I got fooled into buying the low end one at the high end price. Maybe I'm mistaken?

I opted for the baseline 13” model with 512gb storage. For me there was so much lacking in even the high end model that I couldn’t justify the £1800 price tag, like the WiFi 6 for example and the benchmark scores are not superior enough compared to the low end model to truly justify the high price tag. I don’t know I was just expecting so much more. In an ideal world I would wait until 2021 to see what the next update is with the 14” model and maybe see if there is a refresh on the entire line up. But I need a new one right now and I guess I was just disappointed, had higher expectations then what’s on offer. For an extra £400 (I actually got mine new on a discount so would have been £550 for the higher end) I would have expected so much more to justify it

Always a fan of the 13"... enjoyed the years upgrading our mid-2012's (old school i7's w/ SuperDrive... ~4.5 - 5lbs?) My kid remarked "it's humble" to keep a laptop for 8 years, ha. Changing from THAT to the 2020 MBP is like, super buttery... had to upgrade for stability with distance teaching. My workflow this week has been, well, 'flow-y'... Keyboard fantastic all around. Touch Bar is very mellow, useful when typing more than I thought (but not in-your-face, either). Spoken Siri... smooth. Retina display... beautiful. TouchID w/ multiple passcodes... fast! Ed pricing + AirPods promo + AppleCard 12mos + 3% cash back made this a splurge-able splurge. Surround speakers (as mentioned in video... 4-port model) are like a soothing balm around your mind. Yeah, I guess I'll keep it ;)

11:10 I don’t think the reason Apple could bump up the storage was that they removed WiFi 6. I think they want to keep WiFi 6 for their ARM Macbooks to compel people to upgrade to their ARM lineup. Telling Intel to remove WiFi 6 shouldn’t make it cheaper, if not make it more expensive just because it makes manufacturing more complicated (maybe, as I said, just guessing). Apple does surveys on their customer base, and also including the extra expenses, they crush the numbers and give their base storage a general bump across their devices when the time comes. And the time had definitely come for Macbooks to have 256 and the iPads & iPhones to have 128GB as their base storage in 2020. The next step is also for the entry level iPad to have a laminated sRGB display and have 64GB base storage.

99% of people will find that the 2020 MacBook Air is WAY MORE than enough. The Pro model is serious overkill for the average user...not to mention a waste of money for power you don't need or use.
Yeah the CPU is more than enough in the 8th gen base version (3800ish geekbench) I do a lot of music stuff and even my project with 160 tracks only uses 19% of my late 2012 27’’ i7 iMac (geekbench 3000) the higher spec MacBook Pro 13” does have much faster SSD speeds,2 fans instead of one, 4 ports ,much better GPU , better speakers and much faster ram. I want bottom end CPU, lots of memory and lots of storage

Im thinking that 8th gen model is whats keeping that base model at 1300$ instead of something like 1500$ or 1600$ because intel barely made any changes 10th gen cpu other than the integrated graphics, but in typical intel fashion they raised the cpu prices by a huge margin. So i guess Apple decided that most people don’t need to pay hundreds more for a cpu that preforms quite similarly so they kept their 8th gen models.
Yore wrong about being better off with the 16 inch MBP. You’re equating a more powerful machine with wanting better graphic. Most serious home office people use an external keyboard, monitor and mouse. For us (heavy app developers) and consultants (road warriors) we want strong compute in a small package and can live with a smaller display in hotels and airports.

SO glad they decreased the touchpad size. Coming from an 11" Air, the lack of space was the first thing I noticed that drove me crazy.
btw I would have upgraded if it had WiFi 6. Funny how companies try to save $ by cutting corners and ultimately lose business because of it.
