Can you imagine opening a brand new MacBook back in 2008? Must've been so awesome.
i did and it was the best feeling in the world; and from where i'm from at the time ; no one knows anything about Apple and Unix operating systems ; all they know is the ipod and iphone was still at its infancy
I'm still using my 2007 2 2ghz refurb. It's on it's 3rd battery and I've maxed it out to 6gb RAM. I've recently serviced it by replacing both fans and cleaning out the interior from an absolutely amazing amount of dust - the heat exchanger was caked in gunk too. With new thermal paste it's working fine again and I reckon I'll be doing an SSD upgrade next.

Last time I was this early, Apple had just announced they were switching processors...to PowerPC
Damn PowerPC CPUs are older than me
@@alexmaldonado2804 they are also older that most of the demographic on RUclips.
Now I feel old. I was 6 years old *and one day* when the original Macintosh came out. I have to keep reminding myself that old Macs used Motorola 68K processors for *less* time than they ended up using either PowerPC or Intel ones. I never had one, though, and only ever used 68K Macs a couple of times at school - in the UK they were not as common as PCs in education. I did have a Commodore Amiga, which used the same CPU, but everything else about it was different. I recently bought a PowerBook G4 and I love it, though even with TenFourFox it is *no* use for browsing the web.

Oh, man, I remember that welcome video! Been *YEARS* since I've seen that! Nostalgia, baby! ;-)
My first Mac was an Apple IIc in 1984! I was 9 at the time, and I was the one that set it all up! Mom Mom and Dad were floored. Cute fact: My Mom and Dad always worked so hard to give us the things they thought we needed or wanted, but couldn't always do so, because they weren't independently wealthy. But, at a parent-teacher conference, my teach told my folks that I had an affinity for computers and recommended that, if it were doable, they get me an Apple computer. They got the computer, monitor, printer...I know there was more, but they got the whole setup. And I was in love. I have never purchased a non-Apple computer in my life, and I doubt I will at this point. Thanks for the bit of nostalgia, Luke 👏👏👏
Seeing an unboxing of a brand new, sealed MacBook of that age is just soooooooo satisfying.
But it was refurbished so technically not brand new🤷🏻♂️
C L18 0:50 It's not like I'm unaware of it being refurbished, and not brand new. The box even had giant Certified Reconditioned label on it the whole time. I even bought a lot of refurbished products over the years, so I would definitely know what refurbished means. You're clearly missing the point of my comment about my appreciation of opening an item in such pristine condition, which is basically the point of this video.
Ryan Indeed, seeing a computer of that age in that condition is very satisfying, know that most of them are in bad shape. Apple refurbished is essential get a new computer: your getting a new exterior body and new accessories, you might a battery with a few battery cycles. But overall a great computer.
If only it was actually new.
You should have slipped in a clip of the old “I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC” ad!
Priceless!
The first Mac I got to unbox was a IIci in 1989. It had a whopping 12 MB of RAM and 80 MB hard drive and set me off on the path of graphic design that I am still doing today. I’ve lost track of how many Macs I have opened over the years, but it is still a thrill 😁

In 2007 I was smoking weed and watching Zeitgeist documentaries. Now 13 years later I'm watching the Zeitgeist documentaries come to life.
That's stunning! I remember lusting over these MacBook Pros when I was younger.
Me too, but with the 15 inch models. I did eventually get a 2012 MBP 15 later on, though, before I eventually sold it off.
11:50 the most satisfying transition...missing my 2008 MacBook right now
I bought the same exact machine in 2008, but with the 2,5Ghz option. It was the first Apple product EVER I bought and it was astonishing! I still remember having tha machine on the desk beside the old Windows laptop and it was incredibly on a complete another level: the screen, the sound, teh operative system, the user friendly interface, everything was different and better.
Long story short, I kept using it - with minor improvments - until 2017, when the mother board and the graphic card broke down and it was quite impossible and too expensive to repair it. As per today Istill think it was the best model of MacBookPro ever, and the glossy 17inches monitor was crazy!
