@@thepioneer6178 They're pretty close - within a couple thousand. The mustang pp2 comes with pilot sc2 though, but they don't last very long. I switched out to ps4s.

These cars are not the same. Run the GT with the 10 speed auto. Much faster than the six speed

I own a mustang and I must admit I love the challenger. Just has that classic look to it.
Challenger has no chance against these on a track, but I have it on my purchase list over these two for a number of reasons that I won't bother with here.

I own a mustang but even I can’t deny that the SS 1LE is a track monster
Yeah, but a little fine tuning and I can pretty much Guarantee the Mustang will take out the Camaro. It's literally redefined to compete at multiple levels, including higher speeds smoother. The Camaro is literally all about that blow torque in your face as it should, but unfortunately won't admit to much on the highway against other greats. Like I said, take your GT and get it tuned, maybe go with Ethanol and you'll be fine on the Drag. GT has been proven to be funner and smoother, more stability in general and basically will do the same damn thing but with better end game results. I see too many people here in Cali racing on the freeway and if we are going that route, your Mustang should beat that Troque monster... I feel bad for saying that cause I love that Chevy made a true Muscle Car thats actually great on track : (.
@@shawnmacisaac5226 Agreed. Ford leaves a lot on the table for the aftermarket, both in terms of power and handling, that you can build it for whatever you want and it will perform. For example, twin turbo Mustangs running 9s and destroying modified Demons :D
@@TheLouke Lol the lt1 is ass compared to a gen3 coyote. The 18 mustang had gone 8.6's with stock motor and stock transmission. The Camaro is barely able to get into the mid 9's before the LT1 powdered rods clock out. On the highway the Camaro just gets walked even worse since it can't use it's torque at all.

I have a 2012 cts v coupe with a cam and bolt ons and I run mid 9s with drag radials and the car still has plenty of room to go if I wanted to do turbos which I probably won't. If you check out justa6 his coyote got rekt at about 1000hp. I've seen other youtubers with cars like StreetSpeed717 who had a Z06 that was making over 1200whp on pump gas.

@@LordDeadSpider if that's how you want them compared, just watch the main stream stuff. Motortrend, car and driver, and car and track all do off the floor comparisons. I don't care for those cause literally, last car I bought, I had 200 TW rubber waiting in the carport before I had left the show room. I like to see what the chasis vs chasis will do. Not see one pull ahead because of consumable that will last only a couple track days anyway.
@@LordDeadSpider I thought motortrend or someone else already pit the SS 1LE with stock tires against the mustang and the Camaro still won.
It has a superior chassis and that is why it wins. Tires are easily replaced and the easiest upgrade.
Hell when the SS came out it was slaying the GT 350 and that was the high performance mustang back in 2016. The ZL1 1LE is a super car slayer capable of putting cars twice its price to shame and is often more liked than its Z06 counterpart even though it technically isn't as fast around a track due to it being heavier and not as aerodynamic.

Okay. American car good. But when comes to curves Japanese car's. And the reason is. Most Americans car's are FR. And long n to wide. Witch mean if come to a sharp turn. You have to slow down. Because if you don't FR car will spin out of control. Urpion car's are so much worse. Like the marcidies car omg. And the jaguar. But Japanese car's are designed differently.

I love it, this and the C/D comparison confirms that GM is just a step ahead of Ford in chassis engineering. It's the synergy and brain trust that GM has developed between the V-series, Camaro, and Corvette that puts them ahead. If you are a serious enthusiast and love to drive, you have to get the Camaro.

I'd wager quite a bit, because you are not having to lose acceleration while shifting gears. I know some people can change gears fast and without losing acceleration. But for the average person that no lift shift feature will make you feel like a track star.

@Vinny Booboo Imo, the Mustang looks more sexy and sleek, while the Camaro looks more mean and aggressive. I feel like for daily driving the Mustang is a better car, but on-track performance, the 1le is better. Both are great cars though.
If you're considering a 6th gen ss 1le dont think twice. My 19 is a amazing all around car. I love it even more then the 2012 m3 I had
I have a 2018 Mustang GT and really really enjoy it. But can't stop thinking about the camaro too. It's nice as well. I feel both are good muscle cars. Comes down to preference.

Ive noticed a tread with a lot of the youth automotive journalists where they know facts but when they actually speak about the car it doesn't make sense. Like they don't understand driving or something. I just stumbled across this channel and pleasantly surprised. Mangobrain82 The mustang gt pp2 is not designed for extensive track use, the camaro ss 1le is. The mustang will go into limp mode due to heat issues when the camaro is just getting warmed up.

Really good content. Plenty of channels have done it, but you've done it properly. Honest comparison of two track focused muscle cars. Ford and Chevrolet have come a long way with these two cars and although popular they are still highly underrated.
I love your track videos, but please mention the price in the beginning when you're comparing specs (and also maybe put up a chart on screen with HP, torque, price, options, etc.? Thanks guys. Keep up the excellent work :)

Camaro 1SS with 1LE Package, Performance Data Recorder, 1LE Hash Mark Decal: $56,180CDN. But, the pricing can be very misleading unless you go into a lot of detail about what is actually included in that price, in order to do an apples to apples comparison. However, from my experience, most people just see the numbers and ignore all the details anyway. So, I question the value of including the price in the video. You should research the cars yourself and take the time to actually understand what you are getting for the money.

The key thing Thomas said was the mustang is more fun so that’s why I bought one. I’ll openly admit the camaro is better on the track though. Why can’t all gear heads just get along and appreciate amazing cars though?
Depends who’s driving the car. My mustang GT frequently beats SS and 1le packages and I have a lot of experience on the track. Also they got the horsepower wrong on the mustang it’s should be 480 not 460.

Zach it is easy to get 600hp with forced induction, otherwise you will not get 600hp at least from a 5.0 mustang which I own, I’m almost sure that it is the same story with the camaro.

One tip. For windows down driving at speed, take at least one camera, and get an external mic, and stick the mic in the glove box. You'll get great engine noise, without any of the wind noise.

the track speeds were interesting cuz the mustang definitely carried more speed through corners which is really impressive but the fact that the camaro was able to make up for that in the straights is also impressive
I would have expected the opposite to be true, that the camaro would carry more speed through the corners.

I thought it was brilliant that you avoided upsetting dealers/manufacturers by doing unorthodox (to say the least) comparisons. That way you avoid upsetting half your audience and auto suppliers. The nls feature is awesome and sounds great, but it pulls so much timing in order to achieve that feature that it is actually faster to shift normally (as long as you are a fast shifter). I have tested this on mine and had faster times every time

Love seeing enthusiasts coming together without bashing each other's different tastes in manufacturers. I'm currently saving for the mustang, but the Camaro is beautiful in that color! Both are such great cars and you just can't beat the value that either one offers. You're getting alot of car and power per dollar vs their European counterparts.

@@bferg9264 bro, I own a camaro and you'll get used to it. And on top of that, you can get blind spot monitoring which does most of it for you. Trust me it's worth it!

Great video! The noise these cars make is breathtaking! Love it! - Personally going off looks alone, it has to be the Mustang; but I can't deny how good that Camaro is. You could see that he could get the power down much earlier in the corners

Great vid and two great cars. A privilege to own either, I'm sure - but I prefer the overall aesthetics of the Mustang and the comparatively panoramic view out of the sides and rear. The lap times are cool to know, but the fact that the Mustang felt more fun to drive (and the reasons why) was of greater informational importance to me.
I have test driven the base GT and SS both in the last two weeks and hands down for me the driving experience in the Mustang has been much more to my liking. Also the visibility in the mustang is like 500% better. The front end of the 2019 SS (not the 2018 in this video) is a mistake over the 18. I'm leaning more to the Mustang but I will try them both again before I make my decision before buying.

Just an FYI if you are running full assists off in track mode, you could have overriden the suspension from track to sport to slightly soften it up if it felt too harsh on the track. Under vehicle settings in the infotainment screen.

Josh Taylor also both vehicles are extremely heavy , the zl1 weight close to 4.000 lbs , thats 1100 lbs heavier than a Porsche cayman gt4 and 400 lbs heavier than a 4 door sedan 2018 bmw M3 . Definitely not authentic race vehicles . Extremely heavy
