My number 1 pick for undervalued commander cards is Chittering Witch, currently under 50 cents. The cards just does it all - 4 mana 5/5 in stats across 4 bodies, a repeatable sac outlet and the option to remove creatures at instant speed. Token decks want this card. Graveyard and Aristocrats decks want this card. ETB decks want this card. Even in a creature pile without synergies it performs well, to the point where it's now in the majority of black decks I play. I've been a fan of Pia and Kiran Nalaar for a long time and this is just that on steroids - one token more, one mana less on the sac ability, can destroy indestructible creatures, less colored mana restrictions and it's in black.
Been waiting for months but the day is here. Finally got a happy birthday from my favorite MtG RUclipsrs! Going to celebrate by nabbing a few from this list. Don't worry, I'll use the affiliate link. Love you guys. Keep on rocking!
@@famousstranger8468 They just about reprinted this one into oblivion. It's not even really used that much in modern and it was printed in a modern product.
I've been following you guys for 6-8 months and you've definitely helped my deck building. I include Nature's Claim in every green deck that's 2-3 colors, among other great suggestions. Keep up the great work!
I find the format a money pit without proper education..... Its crazy. Thank you so much for your work! Having a Deck Plan, Target Removals, Mana Ramp, Lands and Card Draw are the most important. Can you make a few videos describing each one of this categories? Kind of deck plans (+1/+1 Counters, Sacrifice, etc) and cards for the rest of the categories?
Okay let's talk about managorger hydra. That card does some massive work. If you get it out turn two it's usually bashing faces for 5 on turn 3, then 9 ect...if someone uses removal that's also a win. They just used a 3 or 4 mana removal spell to take out a 3 drop. That's a win. That's one less removal spell not hitting your commander or combo piece ect. Also throw some boots on that baby and suddenly the table has about 4 turns to draw a wrath or its gg. He is an allstar in my Ezuri deck. Also couldnt agree more on the horse spirit. I have it in my xenagos deck and its hilarous to turn mana dorks or imperial recruiters into 10 10 monsters that need to be answered.
I don’t know who’s playing 4 mana removal barring sweepers, and if they used a 3 mana spell on it they traded 1 for 1, but a lot of the good removal is 1 or 2 mana.
@@HomeCookinMTG lol the 4 mana land removal in this video. Which I still think is bad. That's a different discussion. Even if it eats a swords I consider that a win.
Someone in my play group was like, “There aren’t any infinite combos in this deck,” and somehow another player gained control of them and discovered one… for 18 mana… Archaomancer, Rite of Replication kicked with Time Warp. 😂
Reminds me of the loop I found in my Zada deck, I have the dualcaster mage combo in there, but if I have both heat shimmer and twin flame, and I control ardent elementalist, Zada, and storm kiln artist, it makes infinite infinite power hasty bois
@@HomeCookinMTG When Paradox Engine was legal, I had built my first Commander deck. I found that with Planar Portal and a bunch of mana rocks, I went infinite. 😂 Completely unintentional.
Big fan of kiki jiki. I picked up a time spiral remastered copy last year and got a sweet full art alter of the masters art. Also got a play set of the fable of the mirror breaker. Fun card to mess around with. Not amazing in commander tho due to the long turn cycles
You look so much happier than the Twitter episode, I'm glad you were able to keep moving forward. It's always infuriating when people purposefully misinterpret you and your opinions and straw man you to oblivion. Social media is such a pain. Thanks for the good content and for keeping it coming every day!
Commander clash mentioned this on their MDFC podcast. The land types matter to an extent on some colors. Green it really doesn't matter, but mountain, island, swamp, and plains are all important for their colors
I already bought 10 of each of the channel lands including Boseiju (used the NN tcgplayer affiliate link when I did) because those cards for sure are going up in price. They are useful in every format, they won't be reprinted again since they are specific to the Kamigawa plane, and any competitive player will take advantage of the zero opportunity cost.
Wall of Mourning's ceiling is higher than three cards, no? What if you're playing a 5- or 6-player game? A 4-player constellation isn't the only way to play EDH!
One think about all MDFCs and others 2 sided card you should think about is that the reprint chance is very low to nonexistent. There is probably not going to be any product wizards will put out that will have these reprinted in them because they have 2 sides and the logistics of that. I can't see commander decks coming with MDFCs anytime soon.
I also recommend picking up Bear Umbra right now if it would fit in a deck. The card has only been previously printed twice and was going for about $15, but it was reprinted in the Neon Dynasty pre-con and is now being sold for about $5! Totem armors might not be the best, but having an aura with an attack trigger that untaps all lands you control can lead to huge turns!
My syr konrad mono black deck is the only deck where i dont really run mdfcs or kamigawa lands. Cabal coffer, cabal stronghold and all the mana crypt like effects that care for swamps specifically are so strong. Plus nykthos, vesuva, thespian stage, bojuka bog etc. So my 26 basics + 11 nonbasics is packed very tightly with little wiggle room.
One time I kicked a rite of replication on one of my opponent's nyxbloom ancients and then proceeded to win the game off the amount of mana I generated

The other channel lands are also issues for that deck, especially Eiganjo and Otawara, they are both so damaging and hard to protect vs. I wonder about Imposter Mech, but it's still new, so who knows where it'll go? The ability to copy a powerful mana dork can be good (it's got haste!), copying a better creature seems really good. In stronger metas where you don't necessarily run big creatures (and probably want the abilities), it's probably going to feel amazing, like a fixed Gilded Drake, but one that doesn't give them a 3/3. Almost never better, but I struggle to see this card being a dead draw, other than right after a wipe. Also, how does nobody use Transmogrifying Wand?? This is 3x a removal spell on an artifact? 6 mana to kill 3 creatures would 100% see play as a colourless card, getting it 1 per turn feels worse but hardly unbearable. I run this and have almost universally been happy to see it. It's good when you're a ahead, and it's great when you're behind. It's slow, but it's also a slow 3 drop, which is fast enough to run through it's counters. Even Osgir doesn't use this card very much afaik.
Question for my friends over at NN since you guys love the lands with spells on the other side...if I have an oracle of mul daya in play and my top card is mdfc, can I play it off the top of my library as a land? If the land side was the top side I wouldn't question it but since the land is on the backside, I'm not sure.
I believe the ruling is that the Zendikar MDFCs are always the front side. The only time they are also treated as lands is when you are able to play a land. For example: - if it's in your hand, and you can play lands from your hand (as there are no spells on the stack and it's during a main phase) then you can treat the MDFC as a land. - if it's in your graveyard, and you have the ability to play lands from your graveyard (same as above, but you also have a Crucible of Worlds effect out) then you can treat the MDFC as a land. I don't think these rulings are up for debate. And using the same logic, if you have something that allows you to play lands off the top of your library, these should counts as lands. What I'm curious about is it's interaction with "you may put a land from your hand into play" effects, like on Growth spiral or Burgeoning. As I don't think you can technically play these MDFCs with those effects
If you "put a land on the battlefield" then the front face must be a land. If you "play" a land, you may choose the land on the back, even if the front isn't a land. Oracle of Mul-Daya allows you to "play" lands, so you may choose to play the back side of a modal double-faced card. 712.8. I was so disappointed when the crowd lands came out in Battlebond and didn't have land types. They would have been similar to Jeweled Lotus, almost exclusively usable in Commander. This would have been a way to have "functional reprints" of OG duals without affecting Legacy or OG pricing.
Ashaya, soul of the wild is such a sweet card for anything with green in it and creatures. Currently at below 6 euro here in Europe. That is a steal in my opinion. Especially as it can be a monster of a commander too enabling tons of nasty combos. Or just laugh at effects that can't handle nonland permanents.
Vines Of Vastwood seems a bit better to me than Slippery BogBinder. Not having to pay the extra mana for the counters is awesome if I just want to disrupt someone's Swords To Plowshares. But vice versa I can also pay the extra green to pump my creature for a big hit. Plus its a $1!!!
When your secrets aren’t secrets other ones: mana drain, imperial recruiter (6.50), fetch lands (Misty’s we’re like 80 before MH2), teferis protection (also much cheaper than what it was), drown in dreams (blue version of jeskas will dual mode with commander) The rest have been on my get now for a bit. I don’t know how I missed wall of mourning! I’m tinkering with my mono-W zombie cat god and I LOVE that card especially with some of the blink I’ve been using.
Scooze has single handedly won games for me. It becomes one of the best cards ever printed in Gnawbone deck because you always have extra mana. Typically I just have my biggest threat hand me their graveyard and say, "oh these are gone now". Lol
I was very fortunate to buy like 4 copies of glasspool mimic, and a couple copies of valakut awakening and bala ged recovery as soon as zendikar rising dropping. Those 3 stuck out as the best of the non mythics, and potentially even better than most of the mythic ones (all but agadeems awakening) in terms of the cards effect. Obviously the mythic MDFCs are easier to find a spot for due to coming in untapped.

Not a judge but I’m pretty sure that the target has to be legal when the ability is first put onto the stack so no. You can’t take any actions until you’ve selected a target and by that point it’s too late to sacrifice the guide.
I usually don’t buy super expensive cards (the most I’ve spent on a single card is $30) but I’m debating on buying a copy of sword of fire and ice for my shadrix silverquill deck due to him having double strike. Is it worth it?
It is pretty sick shooting a couple utility guys on board plus drawing two cards....plus two protections and a stat boost that with double strike gives you 4 more damage....if you choose just to shoot face with the sword triggers....that's a extra 8 damage on a double striker.

haha really should have been here yesterday haha (guessing that you are referring to yesterdays video?)
They just made a video about that. Might be a better place for that discussion this video is clearly for people buying MTG
@@thetogtube2 didn't see that video, thanks
Ya know what's an incredible buy??
Free daily content!!!! But seriously, if you're buying cards and not using the tcgplayer link: why??
The only hypeman we need!
Not using it because in europe we use cardmarket :)
I'd love to come in as a guest player on shuffle scuffle.
Love ondu inversion
Us too
I am once again asking wizards for their financial support by printing the crowd lands in precons.
I love these videos
We enjoy making them too!
Rite of replication+ur dragon?
Look at all these proxy targets
With karma guide, with the ability on the sack can I sack it for mana, then target it with its ability?
Not a judge but I’m pretty sure that the target has to be legal when the ability is first put onto the stack so no. You can’t take any actions until you’ve selected a target and by that point it’s too late to sacrifice the guide.
i will be suing nitpicking nerds if I don’t get a 500% return
Our lawyers await you call! :P
Why are these videos still showing up for me go awaaaaaaaaay
Video idea and Question, do we buy neon dynasty cards now or do we wait ?
We are not really sure when the best time to buy cards tbh
@@NitpickingNerds you guys responded before i got to the end of the video. Thanks 🙏 non the less.
Oh man don't promote the Neon D lands I need them to go down in price... I kidd everything you do is great
I usually don’t buy super expensive cards (the most I’ve spent on a single card is $30) but I’m debating on buying a copy of sword of fire and ice for my shadrix silverquill deck due to him having double strike. Is it worth it?
It is pretty sick shooting a couple utility guys on board plus drawing two cards....plus two protections and a stat boost that with double strike gives you 4 more damage....if you choose just to shoot face with the sword triggers....that's a extra 8 damage on a double striker.
xXCigarXx yeah the double strike is the only reason why I’m thinking of buying one, you make good points. Thanks!
