One thing to mention for Chaos Warp is also that it is so much fun. I love the chaos factor it adds to the game, makes every match memorable when they get something crazy.
I’ve had a creature of mine get chaos warped into my dance of the dead. Mind you, I’m running Yarok as my commander. Used dance of the dead on dockside extortionist from opponents graveyard. Also had their rebel in riches from my agent of treachery. Produced 26 treasures and won on my next turn. Will never happen again. It was outstanding.
Phyrexian Reclimation is a fantastic pick up at under $4. The card is always so much better than my opponents expect both for unexpected combo potential and outright insane value.

The good thing about maze of ith is there is a brief window where the creature has already dealt damage and is still considered attacking, and you can then tap your maze of ith to untap your creature to hold up as a blocker. So it can be pretty useful outside of stopping your opponents stuff.

I have a Nezahal voltron deck that is a blast to play. Turns out casting a bunch of one sided board wipes and turning a one card draw engine into a one shot is pretty decent
Ophiomancer and [[Atrition]] - destroy an opponents creature every upkeep for the low low cost of B. It's like having an unrestricted Fatal Push every upkeep. Ophiomancer and [[Contamination]] Everyone's mana is black until Contamination is dealt with. Seeing as opponents only have black mana that's going to be a little harder to get rid of, seeing as black has only ONE card to deal with enchantments.
I bought a bunch of Mystic Remoras after the last time you guys pointed it out as a surprisingly inexpensive card. Really odd that such a powerful, popular old card with a single printing is at that price.
@@njensen218 True, but the same is true for Rhystic Study, and Force of Will was an uncommon, so commons/uncommons from old sets can absolutely demand very high prices.
Nether Traitor is my $2 favorite Monarch, Coveted Jewel and Planeswalkers sniper and perfect with all equipments and damage triggers. Just a perfect card all around in tons of decks.
Seedborn Muse was reprinted in a precon before. The only copy I have is from the Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer precon. Buuuut, I still don't forsee that happening often and $10 still feels super fair for that card to me. Also, thanks for reminding me about Reiterate. I definitely gotta get one for only $2.50.
@@NitpickingNerds indeed! I did pull a Nether Traitor from my box. But Reiterate is one of the cards I was most happy to see reprinted and still haven’t picked one up. Thanks again for the the reminder!
I am sad. Yesterday was my birthday and I unfortunately did not get a Happy Birthday from the Nitpicking Nerds. Today's episode was pretty quality though.
Full art borderless gold stamped signed black and white art card lands are gonna be hot cards. They only come in Crimson vow and midnight hunt set boxes and both of those are basically done. Double feature means neither set will get a reprint before going OOP. Double feature was the reprint for both midnight hunt and crimson vow. Filling a 360 card binder takes a little over $1,000,000 in sealed being opened and all the art card stamped lands going directly onto the market.
I'm happy that there are quite a few cards mentioned which I bought recently. After the errata on Ranar, I wasn't sure for quite a while where to go with this deck now. Full blink would suit Brago better, there is too little foretell. I went with a hybrid blink/exile/token (mainly to draw cards with Trident, recon mission) or later to have tokens be 4/4 angels). Lion Sash is such an awesome card for ranar. For 1 mana you can remove key pieces your opponent might need, buff the sash and get a 1/1 flyer!
Research Thief from the kamigawa precons is extremely underrated. Although not a staple for any deck with blue in it, an artifact deck that has essentially an instant speed Toski can get such massive value that I'm surprised it's only a quarter.
I think the thing that maeks me shy away from cabal stronghold is that I need 5 other swamps (so at least 6 lands on the field) for it to be better than a swamp, and I often cast cards like Dark Prophecy and Sign in Blood, which are so heavy on the pips that sometimes I need 95% of my mana base to be able to tap for black
Funny thing about Chaos Warp is that you will never know if you shuffled a killer card off the top and buried it in the library. Also, Maze of Ith works great with Yavimaya in play.
Also I don't think you mentioned it but another benefit of Chaos Warp is that if you want, you can use it on your own like, Token and potentially get something nuts Typically only if there's like, nothing else you'd want to use it on, but it's still a potential upside!
Chaos warping your own stuff is so fun, but I can't imagine a scenario where it increases your winrate to cast it on your own stuff. It's value in hand as a future removal spell seems like it would always outweigh the potential value. Maybe feather the redeemed if you have spare mana but even then I'd rather cast a cantrip I think
@@RecoveringSpartan never said it would win you the game, just that it *is* a thing you could do Even if you never do it, the fact you can is still an upside!
Kaya's Guile really depends on the meta you are playing in. The best mode is the graveyard hate, but I've seen it be a dead card before because my opponents were simply playing decks that were not using their graveyards much. Having your opponents all sac a creature is a 3 for 1 but I personally dislike sac effects that my opponents have control over. The last 2 modes are totally not worth it in my opinion. But yeah in a meta where your opponents are using their graveyard as a second hand it's an amazing card.
I think in the same way chaos warp is good, Tibalts Trickery is also really good. It comes out pretty cheap too and can offer different forms of interaction for red decks that normally wouldn't have any interaction other than say deflecting swat
Here's some super budget cards at all time lows that could make your next list: Hostage Taker, Karmic Guide, Timeless Wittnes, Etali, Primal Storm and I like Spectral Deluge at 75 cents over Evacuation.
I play defense of the heart in my gruul dragon deck and it so fun. If you wan to win on the spot Klauth and hellkite charger both have haste and make infinite combat steps. Other wise just take 2 dragons with nice utility in that moment, like furnace dragon (I have 3 artifacts in the whole deck. Yeii for green ramp)
Nice curated list! I want to point out that (17:30) is not Gambler's Fallacy; it is in fact the opposite. Gambler's Fallacy would be "I got screwed over 5 times in a row by Chaos Warp, my next 50 times should be good".
Cabal Stronghold is good in two color decks if you can get an Urborg. Basic Islands, for example, would contribute to the extra mana since they would be BASIC swamps.
AH HA!!!! Fond something for my Mono green, using the East Tree, which I totally overlooked and forgot, while using Halana, Kessig Ranger, which is my Commander and works well. East Tree will help it a lot, but the reason I overlooked it was that I thought it was for creatures only, not just permanents. WOW!
I pulled Defense of the Heart in a List slot last month. It’s in my Tuvasa deck, usually to find Nylea’s Colossus and Archetype of Imagination. Hard not to kill someone.
Shoutout to the nerds on Call the Coppercoats and Perplexing Test. The rise has begun and I’m glad I’m sitting on a dozen of each. Commander legends duals up a couple bucks too.
Defense of the Heart is one of the most disgusting cards I've ever played. Basically everyone looks at it the first time and they're like, "Eh, it's not THAT good." They're not thinking of it as a 4-mana Entwined Tooth and Nail, but it is. Even the people who've seen it get tired of playing around it or they just forget after a while... and it will cost them the game. It's even awesome when they already have those three creatures out and you jam Defense as a must-answer threat. Suddenly they have one turn to find enchantment or player removal (or they can kill off their own creatures, which is also a win). If they fail to find an answer, you can get anything from Felidar Guardian + Kiki Jiki to Viscera Seer + Protean Hulk depending on the deck. My favorite thing to get with it? Praetor time! Elesh Norn + Sheoldred. If you want to be REALLY cheeky, you can find Thassa's Oracle + Leveler in your favorite Simic deck. Defense of the Heart even does disgusting things in mono-green dude decks like Marwyn. Go find Temur Sabertooth + Wirewood Symbiote and you just make infinite mana if your Marwyn is already 4+ power and you had a one mana elf in play. Just tap Marwyn for 4, bounce the 1-drop elf to untap her with the Symbiote, bounce the Symbiote with Sabertooth, and recast both. Your Marwyn grows from the elf to making 5 mana, and now you're *gaining* an increasing amount of mana on every loop. But the problem is, if you play a Defense of the Heart at an experienced table, the table immediately knows what you're about. You are enemy number 1. Is that a problem? Only if you're not expecting it and you aren't prepared.
the seedborn muse effect is so ridiculous that my patron of the orochi deck has jet to lose a singular game where i where able to activate orochies effect and thats an 8 mana seedborn muse that only works for green creatures and forests and is an activated ability while seedborn just untaps everything and with haste for 3 less mana.
When you talk about powerlevel from Commander Legends, you need to take the different metas into account. Oppo Agent wins off of an intuition and is a serious stax piece in cEDH. I do not think Kodama is a staple at all, since that card needs to be built around.
I'm at 6 minutes, i dont know if you present it in this video or in a previous one but command the dreadhorde at 0.50$ is a worth buying card imo + nice budget option. One printing + It is an all star on my RB reanimator deck (win me a lot of games which one is today lol) and its super cheap!
Cabal Stronghold is actually significantly worse than Coffers because it doesn't work with Urborg. Cabal Coffers + Urborg + Copy of Coffers + 3 Swamps is 12 mana as opposed to 6 with Stronghold.
Good list. My picks would be sneak attack, ozolith, godo(not necessarily for the helm but just an equipment tutor plus) tezzeret betrayer of flesh (good planeswalker especially in artifact decks that cheats mana and enables infinite combos) sword of hearth and home, the class cards from AFR and wound reflection.

How many staples are too many staples? I noticed in a lot of my decks, typically only the enchantments and creatures are unique to the deck, but my instants, artifacts and sorceries usually remain unchanged staples.
For removal i don't mind running similar package every deck. For card advantage and win cons I like to keep it synergy based rather than raw power. I find this approach keeps things unique but still relatively powerful.

Seeing y'all argue about maze makes me want a video on cards you two disagree on. Maybe there aren't enough to make a whole video but it could be fun
TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY AND I GOT A BANGER VIDEO
Happy Birthday and glad you enjoyed!
You hit the nail on head with Embercleave boys. People shit razorblades when you drop it on anything north of 4 power.
the seedborn muse effect is so ridiculous that my patron of the orochi deck has jet to lose a singular game where i where able to activate orochies effect and thats an 8 mana seedborn muse that only works for green creatures and forests and is an activated ability while seedborn just untaps everything and with haste for 3 less mana.
I'm loving Mothra. It's a staple in many of my decks. Pair with the oozolith!!!
When you talk about powerlevel from Commander Legends, you need to take the different metas into account. Oppo Agent wins off of an intuition and is a serious stax piece in cEDH. I do not think Kodama is a staple at all, since that card needs to be built around.
We tend not to speak for cEDH because we do not play it often :)
Defense of the Heart is a bane on my Elementals deck. Nobody wants to play creatures because they know that one of choices is Maelstrom Wanderer.
37:37 I love rolling my opponents into pretzels with Ashnond’s Altar.
Breaking News: Grave Titan confirmed top tier by Nitpicking Nerds thanks to Ashnod's Altar!
The Ozilith is a card I love but I think ti is a little pricy
@@NitpickingNerds i suspect minsc and boo and the broker’s ascendancy synergy will push this card to a point its not attainable at all. This is more endure the pain now or get ready to proxy because if this card remains under 20 for long id be surprised.
Aura shards is one of the best cards in the game, is so insanely good lol
HATE that card.
Cool shirts Lads! What is the batman one?
Also i love Embercleave for it was the bane of standard for a certain amount of time.
technically you could get rid of song of the dryads with land destruction too
This is true
Could we get a text list to put into mass entry for these videos?
i play chaos warp in my krark sakashima copy critical mass combo deck and even thou I might cast chaos warp like 2-6 times a game I pretty much never hit something bad whit it so yes in all decks that have red its in the deck
I love this kind of videos thx guys
Every single card in this video is a Solid pick, thanks for all the amazing content
Thank you so much for the kind words! :)
@@NitpickingNerds Btw, I have a question/suggestion for an episode of Shuffle Scuffle ... have U guys considered Playing with decks from Ur fanbase?, you could request some patreons to submit deck lists, and proxy decks U guys liked to play with in the show, maybe even a portion at the end lf the episodes for suggestions or so...
Just an idea ✌🏻
Video so nice, I watched it twice.
Seedborn muse does so much work in my Kinnan deck - insane.
36:50 So... Do you like Maze of Ith now?
hope you're right about lion sash, cause i got a pre-release version.
*sees chaos warp*
*flashbacks to when someone got the same permanent back when they flip the card*
How many staples are too many staples? I noticed in a lot of my decks, typically only the enchantments and creatures are unique to the deck, but my instants, artifacts and sorceries usually remain unchanged staples.
This is an interesting point I had not thought about but I feel about the same
For removal i don't mind running similar package every deck. For card advantage and win cons I like to keep it synergy based rather than raw power. I find this approach keeps things unique but still relatively powerful.
Do you guys still think that Chrome Mox is still one of the best cards in Commander?
Keep up the awesome content guys
I think Mystic Remora has 1 printing because of the pseudo-reserve list because it has cumulative upkeep.
Well it would be a card that print in something like a premium product that it doesn't matter in like
Mystery Booster had cumulative upkeep cards
My guy cherries 🍒 has the same Walmart Mario shirt i have . I actually own two of them because they are so comfortable lol
Maze of ith is absolute fire in Jorn, god of winter.
whant to have fun(only you of course) cast evacuation with warped devotion and megrim in play.the token player will cry a lot.ok sunder too.all gonna cry at once
I dont understand how Defense of the Heart isn't a 50+ dollar card. its bonkers
Normal survival of the fittest: too expensive for its effect
Judge promo survival: easiest snap purchase I've ever seen.
Money to power might be worth it :)
Honestly happy late birthday to anyone’s birthday that happened before 3/28/22. Happy early birthday to anyone’s birthday that happens after 3/28/22. Also happy birthday to everyone who has a birthday on 3/28/22.
Joe Cherries: the etched foils don't curl
Me: *ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?*
I've personally never experienced curling on etched foils, I'm actually surprised to hear you have
@@cherrylime9540 yeah I bought the collector's packs and the lots of the foil etched and curled
Love the shirt Joe, i have that same shirt, its a walmart classic.
