@@MegaLokopo I doubt it. There is a reason why Iroh's and Ozai's father chose Iroh as his successor. Reason for that probably being his superior firebending skills as well as his more strategic thinking. Ozai was always a bit heavy handed.

Even the fire blast Ozai put out was not as large, and had very little power behind it. It was just fire that burnt, with very little force. Iroh made a blast that broke through an enormous stone wall with ease.

She was the only person that treated him with dignity and respect while he was imprisoned. She knew of his exploits as a general, and that his imprisonment didn't make him less of a person. Her kindness was enough for Iroh to indirectly warn her of his move the next day, sparing her from the chaos he would cause as the Dragon.
The writers made the right decision by not showing Iroh's breakout. The testimony of a terrified guard leaves a lot to the imagination...and whatever version of the escape you concoct in your mind just lends to the mystique of the Dragon of the West.

I like that even though generally very peaceful person. Iroh is not at all a pacifist. Mess with him and there is a very big chance you are gonna get toasted. Point is Iroh's control of his EGO allows him understand what battles are actually worth fighting.
Peaceful doesn’t mean harmless. People tend to associate pacifists with people that can’t fight. This isn’t true. They have no problems fighting if they have to, they just choose not to be violent. Jesus Christ is a pacifist, and yet, YHWH, despite being omnipotent and all knowing, is also a God of War. Jesus has no trouble destroying demons and humans, and has done so.
Pacifism is not refusing to fight no matter what. That idea is folly. Pacifism is having the capability of waging war but refuse to do so out of the belief that peace is more beneficial for all. A true pacifist will do everything they can to pursue peace, but if there is no choice, they're not going to bend over and die. They will wage war if necessary for self-defense.

I always figured Iroh broke his basic rule of fire "from the breath not the muscles" using only his muscles to summon a powerful enough force to bust out the cell, seconds before the solstice, then used the confusion of all the fire bender lack of fire to then get the upperhand then kung fued his way out with his fists.
It seems that his "failure at Ba Sing Se" coupled with his change in attitude since then and his brother's low opinion of him appear to cause people to forget that.
I would legit watch a series about Iroh’s backstory. How he led the attack on Ba Sing Se. How he met the Sun Warriors and faced the masters. How he became a member of the White Lotus.
I don't know who they could get to replace Mako's voice, though. Unless it might be Greg Baldwin, who replaced his voice to finish out the series after Mako died.
I hope they never make one. Fanservice always ruins characters. Look what they've done to Indiana Jones, look what they've done to Boba Fett, look at Han Solo. Etc. Just never make a backstory, just leave it as it is so we can wonder and imagine, that's the beauty of a good character.
We all see him as a kind old man (which he is) but he can be the coldest character if he decides to, he broke the walls of Ba Sing Se TWICE, Ba Sing Se means Inpenetrable City, He changed the name to Na Sing Se
You get hints of his power through the entire series. Him breaking out is badass and shouldn't have been a shock yet was. Look how he fought Zhao and you could see the fear in his eyes.

Something most people don't notice about uncle Iroh. In most of his fights, his movements can be directly identified to aikido katas and forms. The strongest of fire benders, used the gentlest of martial arts.

Iroh is such a great written character, he learned from his mistakes, but you could never read him 100%. Even his darker past was full of light cause he never really killed the last dragon, he only said it to protect them. Despite the circumatances he was always true to himself and losing his son showed him that their are things more worthy then power or glory.

Which goes to show how people understate the importance of the Fire Nation industrial complex. They are fire benders, with METAL MECHANIZED MACHINES. The other nations technologies look decades apart, much of the earth kingdom is rural country side, with farmers, and small towns. Outside of the major cities seen in ATLA. The Northern water tribe is also pretty defenseless against those fire nation artillery balls. The cold temperatures probably do make a difference in fire bending, but a giant fire ball will melt snow/ice, walls bro. That’s just the law of thermodynamics. Kinda funny how this is a kids show with real life cultural representations. This is why I Love ATLA.

I really like the way his fire bending is tied to his breathing, adding a degree of meditation to his bending that probably gives him the edge over ragged breath flailers like early zuko

While all firebenders were powerless during the eclipse, Iroh wasn’t. Iroh met the dragons and knows that firebending is energy and life, not anger and destruction. So while everyone else couldn’t firebend, Iroh could. And THAT is he was able to escape!
I think you’re assuming he only broke out of the cage during the solar eclipse, when i think youll find he broke out of the cage before the eclipse and used his physical strength the rest of the way, iroh like all life gets its energy from the sun which is why firebenders cant firebend

Iroh in my opinion is the wisest, most grounded, insightful and strongest fire-bender inside and out. He got into the best shape of his life for his big part in the series.
My party is currently being guided by one. Called "sir dorbeck". A kindly undead mayor of a peaceful town of monsters. He's wanted by the capital for not paying taxesto them... And for being the single most powerful lich on the planet, by a wide margin. Lord Dorbeck, A kind soul, with enough power to overthrow countries, assisting a band of misfit adventurers save the world. They've caught a few glimpses of the fact he's holding back, and his oh so common phrase of "oh i don't know everything, just most things".

He trully was the most powerful bender in history. Not because of some spiritual connections, not because of cheap tricks, not because of raw strength or power, but because he understood everything about what fire was, he was one with fire, it was like his own body. It wasn't that he could command fire to do his will, he knew how to commad fire to use it into infinite potential. He was breathing like fire, moving like fire, existed like fire. His entire personality was from the begining like flames - Warm, soothing, almost necesary for life, he will help people around him evolve past their limitations no matter who they are. He does not care if you disrespect him, but attack him, and you will burn. Also perfect for making tea.
I love how iroh just stood there and took all those insults from the guard even tho he can easily squadh him like a bug the whole time, shows he restrained and calm he is, and he didnt even kill him at the end What a guy 🙌🙌
My favorite part of him busting down the wall is there are other fire benders there (or, at least one) and yet no one helps. Iroh is just up there like “I got this”. He may have been there to free it, but he hadn’t gotten over failing to break the wall before.
I love how Azulas Introduction Is showing her to be someone who strives for absolute perfection In her techniques and form, and the first time we see her use her lightning technique In a real fight, Iroh just stops her from shooting It and redirects It Into a nearby cliff like It was the most normal response ever

You know what I realized recently upon watching the episode during the eclipse again? Iroh's escape from prison happened on the day of the Eclipse. He busted out of prison and escaped with no bending whatsoever.

If you look closely, Iroh's cell doesn't have the melted bars. Which means that Iroh bent and tore metal bars like they were sticks.

Iroh met the dragons and knows that firebending is energy and life, not anger and destruction.
So while everyone else couldn’t firebend, Iroh could.
And THAT is he was able to escape!
I think you’re assuming he only broke out of the cage during the solar eclipse, when i think youll find he broke out of the cage before the eclipse and used his physical strength the rest of the way, iroh like all life gets its energy from the sun which is why firebenders cant firebend

@SS-rf1ri Iroh was one of if not the best Generals in the Fire nation, the fact there isn't a single general that could get the results Iroh was able to proves that Iroh was the peak of the Fire Nation militia due to him being a professional.

My D&D campaign needs an Uncle Iroh...a retired adventurer who runs a tea shop and just wants to grow herbs in his garden out back.
My party is currently being guided by one. Called "sir dorbeck". A kindly undead mayor of a peaceful town of monsters. He's wanted by the capital for not paying taxesto them...
And for being the single most powerful lich on the planet, by a wide margin. Lord Dorbeck, A kind soul, with enough power to overthrow countries, assisting a band of misfit adventurers save the world. They've caught a few glimpses of the fact he's holding back, and his oh so common phrase of "oh i don't know everything, just most things".
And you just know that character Is level 20

He trully was the most powerful bender in history. Not because of some spiritual connections, not because of cheap tricks, not because of raw strength or power, but because he understood everything about what fire was, he was one with fire, it was like his own body. It wasn't that he could command fire to do his will, he knew how to commad fire to use it into infinite potential. He was breathing like fire, moving like fire, existed like fire. His entire personality was from the begining like flames - Warm, soothing, almost necesary for life, he will help people around him evolve past their limitations no matter who they are. He does not care if you disrespect him, but attack him, and you will burn. Also perfect for making tea.

Iroh's escape from prison happened on the day of the Eclipse. He busted out of prison and escaped with no bending whatsoever.
The eclipse only lasted 8 mins Idk if his whole escaped happened in that time but it's possible he was a monster Lol
