From my perspective uncle iroh was the true avatar his mindset embodied what it meant to hold all elements . He flowed with life as a airbender .his spirit never wavered as a true firebender. He was so emotionally intelligent as a water bender. And grounded in his morals as a earthbender . No avatar had the mindset he had
That just makes him even more inspiring. Avatars are born, but he was made.
It's easy to speak wise. It's iinfinitely harder to do wise.

The moment Iroh's son died in the war, he changed fundamentally.
He didn't return to the fire nation because he found himself at the edge of his own being.
That's when he became a member of the white lotus.
Only in moments of great suffering, can you overcome the boundaries of your own mind. Only by pushing into the unknown, can you find the walls that define you within.

My favorite line in the entire show is: “Destiny is a funny thing.”
The show is so well written.
Zuko was convinced - OBSESSED - with the idea that he had to CAPTURE the avatar and in doing so RESTORE HIS honor.
He did just that, but not in the way he had originally thought.
He BEFRIENDED the avatar, and brought honor back to himself and the FIRE NATION as a whole.
The citizens he stood up for in the beginning of the show (new fire nation recruits), got to see him step up as a fire lord and stop a war that was built upon the betrayal of his maternal grandfather by his paternal grandfather.
A Fire Lord betrays the avatar to start a war, then the Fire Lord befriends the Avatar to end the war.
Destiny is a funny thing.
Somehow stuff like this finds you right when it means the most.
Uncle iroh was a role model to us as kids

this is not a kids show!! and yet every kid should see it!
It is in fact a kids show, but every adult should see it.
Toph may have been jealous that she was the only one that didn't have an adventure with Zuko, but she was the only one to have a friendly, face to face bond over a cup of tea with Uncle Iroh.
Bro. Everytime Iroh yelled "no" to this boy, i sat up straight in my spirit. The voice acting is one of the greatest treasures we've ever had.

Agreed. However, with how much of a rush everyday life is, that is unlikely to happen, because too many people lack the time and patience for such introspection and self-reflection. And those few who do, well.. they already have their own font of wisdom most of the time. So this merely reinforces what they already realized.

Always thought you have to look for hope when you don't have it, but this makes SO much more sense.
Iroh was just extremely wise in the Avatar series. He had so much power but yet he was gentle as a dove. One of my favorite old cartoon characters

Jesus is flesh and blood, God yet also man. He did not command from the clouds what is right and wrong. He walked the earth in humble sandals to teach, love, and heal. This is why it was so necessary for him to exist.
God Will guide you and you Will create the family you lacked and you Will be the Caring parent you always wanted I sincerely believe it
God may not have given you a good family but he did give you your life. You may not like your life but as long you are “alive”, you WILL continue to have a chance to change your “life”. You cannot change the blood family you are born with, but u can still have others who will be more loyal and “family” than even your current ones. And you will have the opportunity to build your own family in the future that will be your “flesh and blood”, meaning your children.
I am a Muslim but i hope that God gives you the life that you want, Brother.

Iroh is sad at times, but I believe he is a cheerful and genuinely happy person. The key is love ❤️
No offense, this take makes no sense. To give out Unc Iroh’s insight contentment and happiness is already felt or discovered within oneself. He feels emotion and that’s okay but Iroh is far from being an emotional person. He’s actually very masculine and loves working on himself and who he is presently. It goes over your head.
Robin Williams is a comedian who stole others jokes and took all the credit for himself.
Iroh is a post warlord veteran who earned all his wisdom and gave credit to others who helped him.
Its crazy he is strong enough to beat the fire lord but he know its not his destiny

This is by no means the same as finding a living person. To find one’s own Iroh would be beautiful. However, most people can find guiding figures any time. I took it on myself to read texts of stoics, free thinkers, religious leaders, and anything else of interest. It has helped shape my moral stability immensely and I would highly recommend it to anyone else seeking guidance. You can become what you consume.

I never had a real dad growing up, only a foster dad who hated me and would treat me like dirt. He only taught me what sort of man i didnt want to be. Zuko has always resonated with me because of that. Im so thankful i got to see his and irohs journey as a kid

I was about 16 when I recorded this segment off of Nickelodeon. I was off a break up, was called fat by my next crush, and I wasn’t happy with what I looked like.
It was easier to be mad at them. It was easier to say I was this way cos of what my gf did. It was easier to blame anyone else.
But it was on me to change things.
I aimed to become someone I could forever be proud of.
I just want to know if Uncle Iroh would be proud of me.
When they reconciled before the liberation of Ba Sing Sae, it dawned on me that the hard paths are often the right ones.
We learn our lessons the hard way. But stay the course.

That metamorphosis, I think I'm going through that , my body and mind in conflict with themselves that I fell sick and became depressed out of nowhere. Now I know God is creating the beautiful me that'll achieve my destiny. This separation is not easy as I almost let the devil get the better of my lowest self .

Wonderful cuts and edits here. Your video reminded me that I'll be a father one day. That my father utterly failed me. That I can do so much better and attempt to be half as good as Iroh was. The part about metamorphosis really hits me, because I had a similar moment around 19 years old. I had such a strong ego, but it turned out I was seeking stuff that was completely countered to how I wanted to actually live deep down. I stopped being "myself" for around 6 months. Though the experience was super emotionally painful... I truly did become the prince I wanted to be, and that I still am, almost 20 years later. I learned to be so much kinder, and appreciative of basically everyone around me.
Except for people that are awful to others. I routinely go goblin mode on them.

Iroh's consistent presence that managed to speak to us, the audience, through Zuko as a proxy is one of the huge reasons Legend of Korra was a downgrade to the original.
At the very least, iroh was able to make an amazing return in korra, still you are correct in saying its a downgrade

He probably did when his son died. He was the son of the fire lord and probably grew up just like zuko. He was known around the earth kingdom as the “Dragon of the West” showing he was a fierce opponent in the fire nation and killed a lot of people. When his son died it probably showed him a different truth

I came here because I'm at the darkest point I've found myself in in my entire life: and I'm just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel again. I won't burden you with the story that got me here; but know stranger, yes there are many of us still taking this wisdom to heart. I didn't understand Iroh when I was younger; but it seems that with each day that passes, he seems more and more right.
