All this could honestly be summarized by the scene where Metro Man basically stops time to go for a walk.
Go for a walk, spend a long time sitting just thinking, read a pile of self help books, do who knows what else offscreen, and all this while appearing completely still on camera.
The man had an entire existential crisis, decided to fake his death, planned out his scheme, and then carried it out, all within a single frame of animation.

Besides, Metro Man is a parody character, it’s honestly not a a fair matchup because parody characters defy logic, Metro Man is a joke and I don’t mean that in an insulting way I mean it literally, his character arc is a gag and for the joke to work best he had to be the panicle of superhero for it to be that much funnier when it’s revealed that he just didn’t want to do it anymore because he’s lost all passion for it.

Metro Man is so strong that the only thing that defeated him is boredom and mid-life crisis, and even then he won over it by finding his passion and also managed to subtly influence his rival into being a hero.
Megamind was never a villain, he went through the path he went because it was the only thing that gave him purpose. Metroman never influenced him directly

To be fair, Homelander could’ve easily lifted it. He was just judging the physics of lifting it (whether he’ll push through the hull, if he could even actually fly it with nothing to push off of to accelerate, etc.).

The only issue here is momentum and material.
Homelander couldnt stop the plane because it had too much momentum and too fragile a construct for him to actually grab on. The plane would crumble before he was able to glide it to safety.
The skyscraper was static before Tightan grabbed it, and it presumably had a very durable structure other than simple engineering due to countless sheninigans Megamind has been pulling for decades.
Building could withstand the pressure of Tightan because it was designed to tank it for a short while, Plane could not.

Another thing: based on the fact that when Metroman moved (in his crisis) he left behind individual colors, that implies he was going so fast that he was splitting the light rays in the areas themselves. Might be wrong but still cool
Not only did Megamind not see Metroman. He was looking DIRECTLY at him when he left. This madman fit several days of inner searching faster than it would take the common man to BLINK.
Metroman is basically THE Perfect Superhero. Superman cannot see through lead, and Metroman was literally singing about how he could see through lead, Its safe to assume Metroman's capabilities are similar to Supermans. Metroman also most likely doesnt have a weakness like Kryptonite.

Another thing about metro man is the insane amounts of *control* he has over his powers. He can literally walk on water and the fact that he was high fiving all those people without even bruising them shows how much he can control his strength
that's one sort of control...but I wonder if he can do stuff like vibrating at the right frequency to go through solid material, while leaving it intact, like the flash...he clearly has enough power/speed, but does he have enough control?
also I think he must shave himself with laser-eyes, given how his hair survived perfectly fine from the explosion he was standing kinda in the middle of, while his stubble grew back pretty fast, implying the hair is basically burn-proof, and most likely cut-proof, but still cut
of course he also juggled with the babies and then threw them back correctly, and whatnot, and during his superspeed-reflection, he carefully took the kite from a kid's hands (and presumably returned it), etc...

4:18 Major correction here. You do NOT need to reach escape velocity to go to space. So long as you can continue to apply force greater than that of the gravitational pull, you can go to space. Rockets do not go mach 33 to get to space.
Escape velocity is how fast you need to be going, with no further force applied, to reach a distance where the earths gravitational pull is no longer significant enough to pull you back. Absolutely massive difference
you prob would have to go that fast if you planned to escape with no extra added velocity after becoming airborne, like in a single jump, but since homelander and metroman can fly that seems kinda pointless to do
@@ambi_cc8464you’re 100% right. Escape velocity is the speed an object would have to reach to essentially jump from the surface of earth to outside of earths gravity well. The entire concept of it goes completely out the window when you’re applying an outside force such as a rockets engines or however a superhero flies
which essentially more relevant if you're sprinting that fast, then gravity will no longer adhere you to the surface of the planet.
Metro man had a midlife crisis, mediated, and resolved it all in the span of a second or two. Bro casually performs feats of speed comparable to the flash, it's not even funny.

Powerscalers obsess over linear scales of power, yet those are not really relevant. Metroman moved so fast that the world around stood completely still, meaning that he can both perceive and move at speeds approaching lightspeed. There is literally nothing that Homelander could do to affect him, no matter how powerful he is.
the average animated film's framerate is 24 per second, metroman was gone for one of those, in the first half of the film, to take a few days or weeks to have a midlife crisis, it would take less than that amount of time for him to throw homelander at the sun

Think about how absolutely talented and perfect he is. This crisis he had made him realize how boring his life had become because everything he ever had came naturally to him with no challenges. The he discovered that he sucks at music. He can’t just use super speed to learn immediately because he wouldn’t know what it sounds like, so he is forced to wait and listen. None of his powers would benefit him in learning music (maybe theatrical stuff, but nothing on playing). Since it’s a skill that has to be learned, he can’t buy it nor be gifted it by fans or ridiculously rich parents.
The realization he sucks at something means he has actually has something to look forward to; a legitimate challenge that he felt was only possible for humans.

even megamind, despite having been in prison LITERALLY all his life, and bullied all his time at school, and building weapons of mass destruction, and breaking buildings and stuff, never exactly kills anyone (that we know of, e.g. even exploding the monument, he picked the time that pretty much nobody else was actually there, and even if people died, he at least minimized it), he doesn't even hurt people much, he just does psychological terrorizing, and even that as a bit of a joke, and a bit of freeze gun-ing, which seems pretty painless (only complaint is it being an unpleasant experience, which is fair enough, imagine being suddenly turned to a cube and then back, lol)
they also both understood their neverending dance, and having no other real purpose, just megamind is still happy to invent more ways to try to win, but metroman is finally bored

I do feel like the "whole concentrated power of the sun" thing is hyperbolized, but it is probably at least city level, since it's more likely absorbing energy from a smaller section, but for a longer period of time, hence the need to charge up to reach whatever power threshold it was going for.

You have to know that the death ray was only taking in the side of the sun that was actually facing earth, meaning that 91 petaton per second is functionally 45.5. Whats even funnier than that is that Metroman, even with that massive nerf, would be able to put Homelander in a pinewood box before Homelander's neurons could fire to react to his attack.
on top of that unless megamind was using some form of Dyson array to concentrate more light onto the satellite its output can only be equal to the comparatively minuscule light energy that was directly hitting the satellite over its charging sequence. as such i think we can safely chalk megaminds "full concentrated power of the sun" up to hyperbole. therefore i would say the attack does not exceed small town level in potency

The actual explosion looks to be more on the scale of kilotons, megatons if we're being super generous but it has to be small enough to not threaten Metro City from the observatory's island location. Megamind saying the death ray has the full concentrated power of the sun is obvious hyperbole, he's a performer just like Metroman and putting on a show, not everything he says can be taken literally when it contradicts the movie.
Him saying that it didn’t blow up the entire city because it’s concentrated is just dumb, energy is energy doesn’t matter how concentrated you make it.
So if what he said was true, there would be a crater the size of Europe in its place, not just a few tnts worth of fire.

See what sticks out to me is that, while Metro Man is having his mid-life crisis between frames...he's able to leisurely turn the pages of a book. That book page should be moving at speeds that would at minimum shred the page. This requires either a tactile TK field like Superman has, or it requires his super speed to actually be *time dilation* .

One thing about Metroman's speed: For him to have spent hours in superspeed in the course of a millisecond, he would have to have such control over the molecules in his body that would prevent all of Metrocity from exploding as he's going superspeed. Omni-Man destroyed an alien city by flying at extreme speeds. Metroman went even faster than that, and was able to stop Metrocity from exploding too.

e.g. the flash has some sort of field that keeps him and anyone/thing he's carrying, safe, superman has a similar, but a lot weaker field, which also protect outsiders (e.g. when the flash runs by at a casual 500 mph there's no giant vacuum effect after him, which even a normal lorry would have, sort of, he just has some dust)

If they were to fight the only way, this would last longer than a minute. Is if Metroman was really really pulling his punches.
A human with metromans powers lifted most of a skyscraper and metroman himself has his insane speed feat. If he punched with that amount of force at that speed, he’d kill most characters that aren’t literal gods. Homelander would realise he’s outclassed and run away to have a panic attack.
Homelander in comics lifted a bridge with ONE hand without issues.
That is 100 000 ton feat.
He also swam in the sun without issues. Unlike Vultramites, who die to that.

No-Life Power Scalers who say that 'Feats' trump everything. I once saw one claim that Batman was Universe/MultiUniversal because 'He's beaten Darkseid before'.
My favorite is a Bleach Powerscaler I saw in the comments of some 'Out of these characters who would win', who said Soi Fon scaled to Barragan because she 'defeated him'. I won't explain everything, but to explain their 'fight', she couldn't hit him once normally, and had to spend the entire time running away, used her Bankai Twice (Basically a 'Trump Card'/Finishing Move), WITH ASSISTANCE, and only injured his head. The only reason they won is because Barragan wasn't immune to his own power, and ended up killing himself. But his guy swore up and down and argued that Soi Fon at least partially scaled to this guy.
In short, Powerscalers are that kid on the playground who make up new one-sided rules so their character can win. Context is completely ignored. Metroman is weak because 'We never actually saw him get hit by any of those weapons and survive'. They don't care about subtext, if your character isn't directly shown performing those feats they don't count.
The main reason people call him weak
is because nobody that talks about metro man brings up any of the evidence shown in the video and the people that mention him just say cool guy strong with little to no context

@@Servellion To be fair if we take the Pokedex as canon, most people in the Pokemon Universe can survive extreme temperatures ranging from Absolute Zero to the Heat of the Sun, deadlift hundreds of kilos with ease, and endure attacks capable of leveling entire forests with only minor injuries. For your average powerscaler, that would mean that Ash does outstat Batman in everything but experience and inteligence.
However the Pokedex can hardly be concidered accurate in its information. The sizes and weights, along with the 'fun facts' are often false or exaggerated. Nobody wants a 5''7" Charizar

I agree with your result completely and most of the stuff you said sounded alright, but a couple things bug me and the biggest one was this.
When they were in spaceships as babies they may have been moving faster than light but they showed them moving in the same direction at the same speed!
in other words there's no relative movement, from Megamind perspective metroman wasn't moving, this matches up with the fact that they reach basically the same location at the same time so there's no speed of light reaction happening.
That would be like saying I can react to something that's moving near the speed of sound because I can see an airplane moving from the ground.
though that is true you do have to realize the part about the lasers is still true, which is still Lightspeed

The simple explanation is that he slowed down enough to be barely visible for 1/24th of a second while he was looking at Megamind, then spent however much subjective time in essentially stopped time (days? those were a lot of self-help books to read) all to not be noticed by the camera that was focused on him the whole time. And it's not like he was doing anything strenuous during his superspeed midlife crisis, just casually walking and flying, as well as sitting still for long stretches of time. Lightspeed feels like an understatement for just how fast Metroman can be.

small correction: escape velocity is not needed to reach space, it is needed to leave earths sphere of influence, you can go to space at a much slower speed
you do need to reach the escape velocity to reach space, unless you can ignore gravity. Fictional characters like HL and Metroman can definitely do that, so they don't need it, but everything that is affected by gravity does need to reach the escape velocity to leave the field of gravity
