  • Scammers are using an AI-generated “deepfake” video of trusted consumer champion Martin Lewis to convince victims to part with their money. Lewis has branded the new scam “frightening” and warned lives would be ruined unless internet giants were stopped from publishing such content from fraudsters. Deepfakes are realistic AI-generated videos of people that show them saying or doing things they have not done. Lewis, founder of consumer advice website MoneySavingExpert, highlighted the new scam on Twitter on Thursday evening.

It’s makes a big different to there profits but also has the adverse effect to the general public when they want to have a bank account and it’s managed by a human being you can actually go and see and speak to at your local branch and these people who work at local branches should be there to support the older generation to stop things like this happening….

There needs to be a two pronged approach here. Firstly, there needs to be tough legislation which requires the social media sites who host these adds to be liable for compensating victims for losses incurred in obviously fake videos. Secondly, the government needs to mount an advertising campaign aimed at encouraging people to be more sceptical and to engage some kind of critical faculties when viewing any and all advertising.

Investing money in an advert you saw on facebook? Nothing good ever comes from using it. It creates far more problems than it solves. This advert would not of had any chance of success anywhere else. The problem is not the scammers, scammers always scam. The problem is Facebook.

Well Mr Lewis. Maybe years of conning your viewers has finally caught up with you. Teaching people to live off scraps while you live large aint appenin m8 😂 sadly those same people will fall for the investment scam.

It’s bullshit!!! Martin is putting a message across but he has created his own beast. I’ve followed Martin for years. I’m questioning my loyalty right now with what going on. 7:04
