Haha, hustling I see. It's good business acumen (studying Doug Demuro's own moves).
You can’t defend this one bro, don’t die on this sword. The price is ridiculous.
He has made Toyota his entire personality. Why stop now? He doesn’t have a family to support so he makes perfect sense for him to say this pricing is realistic
It's 2024
Have you looked at the price of the ZR2 or AT4X from gmc? Those are more expensive. It’s 2024 prices for vehicles across the board are going up. Might have to get used to the new norm man.
🤣
@@amadeiusc657 we got a 2023 Colorado, ZR2 fully loaded just not the bison addition since it wasn’t offer for 2023 and walked out the door at 55K also for 2024 the price didn’t really change so you would probably walk out at the same price if you spec the same truck so the Tacoma is much more expensive
Taco prices makes the Tundra look like a bargain!!!
in my driveway i have a 2020 1794 trim w 30k miles i bought this year, w 27k at the time. priced at 49,500 so I have a top end 4 wheel drive in perfect shape for the price of one of these new i4 tacomas lol, can't imagine it
@@brian17411but a power train that’s 17 years old. That being said though…. I’ll keep my 5.7 sequoia for a long long time
Lol, boost the sales of the larger Tundra by closing the price gap between it and the Tacoma.
2024 tundra platinum max 4x4 for price of trd pro Tacoma. Lol
For now, wait just a few months I’m sure they all discounted $5k
Lol like I was saying… wait till you see a 70k 4Runner 😢
Yup
Especially when it looks like a Grand RAV4. Can't wait for Toyota to compound my disappointment with ridiculous pricing on the new 4Runner.
If the 2024 didn't have such a garbage transmission I'd just buy one of those. Now I'm looking elsewhere.
Will have to wait a few years while the new 4Runners sit on the lot for a discount. There's no way these are going to sell as well as the previous gen. The prices are moronic.
@@krninja22Sell less for more per unit...🧐
At these Toyota prices it makes sense to lease European SUVs.
Toyota is pricing themselves out of the market. Asinine prices.
No they haven’t. These will sell like hotcakes.
@@user-vx7vi3vq1cthere are already dealer that have had 2024’s sitting on the lot since the release. Heck, my local dealer is small and has had 2 for a month. Guess we’ll see, but I don’t think they’ll sell at that price very well.
Taco community is already not happy with them
Genuinely though, is this not the same idea as a 3 series vs M3? An entry level 3 series is significant cheaper than an M3 but there is a substantial amount of development and parts thrown at the the M3 & TRD Pro to make it what it is. That’s just my impression of the pricing argument though.
65k no way. I’ll take Ranger Raptor for that coin.
Man up Jon and call it what it is......$60k plus for a Tacoma is insanity to ifinity! Until consumers quit buying and tubers quit boot licking, the craziness will continue on pricing.
yep he needs a mass unsubbing as his wake up call.
He’s a shill who sucks the Toyota toes to keep the goodwill of Toyota gods. 😂
47.5k for a loaded Pro4x. 55 for a Raptor. And then this thing at around 65k?! What on earth is Toyota thinking!?
I am definitely NOT making excuses for the price, BUT, that Nissan 4xpro is nowhere near what these trucks are, and the 55k for the Raptor is just the base version. All vehicles are stupid priced right now. It's just BIDENomics. I'm actually so happy about the hybrid offroad price. I'm getting that one and putting on my own suspension
The Raptor only comes as a “base”. There are no major options you can add to it. Some accessories. Buts that’s about it.
In March 1995 a loaded Tacoma was $32k at launch, while a Ranger priced out at $25,000.
2024 ranger raptor out the door is $80k I was quoted.
Did everyone but me have their salary double? Are they moving to 15 year loans? What am I missing with new car pricing?
New car pricing has clearly gone up. But I also don’t understand why everyone feels entitled to buy the top-of-the-line trim. If the Trd pro is too expensive, consider the base model.
@@brucemoose2 agreed.. I think what is throwing me is 2 or 3 years ago most people could afford it, now they can't.
It is crazy
Get a car loan for 120 months now at my credit union.
@@brucemoose2I agree but 40k for an sr5 without dampened tailgate is absurd too 🙃
Pricing is absurd. With the Tundra discounts that are going on, I could buy a Tundra Platinum 4x4 for less. Why in the world would anyone buy a $65k mid size truck?! The LC250 seems like the only fairly priced BOF product in Toyotas lineup. Everything else is $7-10k overpriced. It’s super frustrating.
If you plan on bringing your Tundra in every six weeks for repairs due to the manufacturing defects, go for it!
@@fscottnoah7223haha…..hyperbole much?
I made the same argument…..the Tundra is a bargain!!! Potential tundra owners jump in now!!!!!
Land Cruiser seems overpriced too since it’s the same size as the 4Runner but more expensive
@@user-mn2ju7tv8f You’re right. With some of the videos I’ve seen, it’s more like every 12 weeks. 🤣 My mistake.
63,900 USD before the insane markups, Toyota is going nuts.
We’re already seeing Tundra with $7k off MSRP. 😂 I was so convinced I was buying a Tacoma about 6 months ago. Guess not. Colorado is looking better.
Hard pass on a new tacoma
Toyota is killing themselves. These will all be on sale in 2 years. Just wait it out.
Right. I started looking at Chevy too
If you can get it you don’t have to get the bison but the regular Colorado ZR2 is definitely great
Own a 2023 colorado 9k miles /5k towing on it havent had one issue .I own a 4 runner and love some of the toyota trucks but even the 2023 4 runner was insanely over priced.i have had GM years ago and they Definetly can be hit or miss but I also dont do 200k of miles since my work commute is so short,in 15 years I.will be lucky if I have 130k miles on it.
Better off spending a few grand more and getting a Tundra.
Probably a few grand less after mark ups and addons
Yeah even if everyone has a few more grand for a Tundra. Not all would choose the full size truck cuz of its size and performance that would drink more gas. Plus with the Tacoma you can have a peace of mind when off roading especially with the weight, Really depends on what you want to use it for.
No full size for me because a Tundra wouldn't fit in my garage. I'm willing to spend the extra on a mid size
@@ezneil5092 not really if you walk on the lot and see a tundra limited trd off-road is cheaper than some tacomas I can see a lot of people getting the tundra or more likely option is these trucks are gonna just sit on a lot for months
@@kingDTD1 Its really depends on what kind of truck you're looking and need for, Alot of higher trims from both Tundra and Tacoma would definitely be sitting on the lot becuase of the dealership's unreasonable mark ups.
Dang! Just 4.5 years ago I bought my fully loaded Tundra 1794 Crewmax 4x4 w/sunroof for $47,000! New! Dealer even did a dealer trade so I could have the TRD off road package one I wanted!
Yeah but $47,000 4.5 years ago is like buying something for $57,500 today. That's why we're seeing these trucks cost so much now unfortunately.
JON you know that is insane for a TRD PRO for once just call Toyota on their BS
He is afraid if he calls Toyota out on their BS he won’t be invited back to any of their events. But so is every other so called RUclips “automotive journalist.” Shouldn’t the Tacoma be cheaper now that it’s being built in Mexico?
@JohnDoe…. Exactly. Toyota’s labor cost on the Taco is about 1/10th of Chevy’s or Ford’s on their vehicles built in the ISA with UAW workers. Still Toyota sells its Taco with about $10k extra profit compared to a ZR2 or Ranger Raptor.. It’s simply indefensible.
@@is6566 I always thought Toyota was one of the more ethical automotive manufacturers. Too bad they are putting a short term money grab over their reputation. As good as their products are people will not buy them based on their previous reputation when they can save $10,000 on a comparable vehicle. And for those that like to blame the UAW for the rise in prices Toyota has killed that argument since the UAW isn’t in Mexico
Yea he can't call them out because his mouth is full of toyota salami.
The TRD pro is like $8k more than Ranger Raptor. Wild.
The pro is not worth it any more
Sad thing is…I’d rather have less HP and better gas mileage. Can I get a Ranger Raptor with the iForceMAX, pleeeeaase?! 😂
and Ranger Raptor has a permanent AWD option and Fox Live shocks, which are both awesome and neither of which come on the Toyota TRD Pro
@@beavis17UF1 lol
Ford was rated 28th in reliability by JD Powers. 😂😂 Buy that Ford!
Wow, that is not a blue collar price. Geezus, that’s freaking outrageous.
I know plenty of blue collar workers well into 6 figures man. Plumbing, construction, all these dudes about to skyrocket pay when all these boomers retire. Stay strong man!
Yeah my dad who is a 35 year Toyota master diagnostic technician had a dodge Dakota and now has a maverick because Toyotas prices are too expensive he did get a new Corolla in 2004 but otherwise he was never able to afford Toyotas.
I'm sorry to hear that.
@@TRDJonyou might know plenty, but it ain’t all of us.
The Ranger Raptor is $8,500 less! The RR is $57k with destination and gives you a front locker and a twin turbo V6 with 405hp and 430tq! My last four vehicles have been Toyota body-on-frame products, but Toyota has lost their mind with these prices. What's the 6G 4Runner TRD Pro going to cost? $67-70k? Insanity!
I think it’s that Good that I got my 2024 4Runner now rather than waiting for the 2025 4Runner it’s looking like it’s gonna be 65k+
Ditto. I have a 24 Pro in Terra arriving in a few weeks. Sticker shock on the 25 Pro's for sure..
I've thought about getting a 2024 to replace my 2015 but my 15 has 193k miles and drives exactly the way it did when I first drove it off the lot.
@@joegrahe3958 beauty of old v6 i dont we will feel the same way with the new ones
Got a 24 SR5P in February. I knew I had to get one before the new generation came out.
And the 4Runner is usually more expensive. With those prices, might as well get the Land Cruiser or GX
Yea the 4R will be close to them for sure
love the collaborations you guys are doing lately at these events....
INSANE
Thanks
The trd off road is honestly the best way to go. If you want other things on it, get them little by little on your own
INSANE $$$
I appreciate you getting straight to the point! The limited and off-road versions sound less ridiculous in pricing, so let’s see if they’re actually available at sticker.
That’s cool jon!looks jeff enjoying 😅😅👏🏽
He was! Hahaha
I had so much fun! Didn't Jon look like a pro driver there.....so confident!
Jon looking like a pro handling that taco!!
Hell ya!!!
........there you go boy, hahahaha, the speed, the jump.........great job guyx
Thanks for the info bro. Still have my mind made up on the TRD Sport with the iForce Max engine.
Irrational exuberance
Nice driving Jon! The seats looked like they worked as advertised, how were the seats? Probably seriously overkill super comfy street seats for my bad leg, LOL 😁😁
Jon, you’re showing off some good wheel game. That looked really fun. Jeff’s reaction was priceless. What did you think of the dynamic seats in the pro?
haha it was a blast! I noticed a big difference when i drove in the isodynamic seats vs in the backseat. much more stable
I’m glad I bought a 3rd TRD Pro!
Insane prices
Trailhunter is here it's at. Love it.
What are these features that you reference at 2:26 for the TRD Pro? Seems to me you get a lot fewer features and a higher cost than the RR.
Almost 20k more than what I got my 2022 trd pro for is wild lol
28k more than my 17TRD Pro. This is crazy.
@@FrankBurgos you got your 17 trd pro for roughly 7k under msrp brand new? Killer deal man.
@@brochilldude I bought it pre-owned in 2018 with approximately 17k miles on it from a coworker who traded cars in all the time. He really gave me a great deal.
I honestly think this isn’t the worst thing. I feel like now dealers won’t be able to charge a markup as we’re already seeing discounts on tundras and the normal I force tacomas at dealers. They increase the prices but now dealers really can’t ad a markup (I’m sure some will try) but across the board I wouldn’t be surprised if you see some below mark within a year or two. Maybe I’m just an optimist but people already payed 10k markups for TRD pro model.
dude, do you not understand that THAT was the point entirely? they got you used to the markups, then they just normalize them as part of the regular price, and you think you're getting a deal because now those markups are non-negotiables? LIsten, every single one of you who buys these bullshit vehicles at these bullshit prices, YOU are exactly the reason why this will never stop. Let these things rot on the lots. You don't need it.
Jon that Baja Esque ride at the end looked like a hoot!!! LOL
So much fun man!
65k holy glad we bought our TRD pro just before Covid. We paid 53k Canadian . Great resale , great well built , only issues we had up to 60k was the exhaust joint under drivers seat . Squeaking metal rubbing noise when idling at 500 RPMs. They replaced bolts and called it a day .
... I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tacomas and have Owned My TRD for 16 Years When i bought it New , BUT.....THIS IS INSANE. 👎👎 Looking like Ill never own another new one , And i am Going to cry when that day comes to retire my Baby... THANK YOU For ALLLLLLL You do Jon !!!!! REALLY Appreciate the time and effort you put into these !!!!
Already decided. My 2021 trd off road is my final Tacoma. They really need to rethink pricing
Glad I bought the 2023 trd pro for $52k. Fully loaded
That’s way too much. You got ripped Skooter. Done on all fours
@@Skwid-Lives we are all getting ripped off. Especially used Tacoma prices nowadays
Same out in California
Bought a 18' Tacoma Pro for $42K. Sad days.
@@ryankunkel8247 now you can’t even get a 4x4 sr for that lol
@TRDJon when you added your lift kit from westcott did you lose some type of warranty like bumper-to-bumper from your dealership? Cause I’m trying to use the same lift kit but I don’t want to lose any warranty
Hello Ranger Raptor!
What you DON"T pay for in fuel, you WILL pay for (and more) in your monthly payment
I paid MSRP for my nearly fully loaded 23' Frontier PRO-4X for 43k.. Sure there are a handful of features the tacoma has that I don't but, I have most of the modern tech and a NA v6 that drives great.
The double edged sword of the tacoma's resale value is going to make getting a used 4th gen with a decent spec for under 40k a long long wait.
His inner rally racer came out of him 😂
When will they be dropping the price on their website you think? This is actually unfortunate to hear and quite ridiculous how prices have been but I still wanna get one. We will see.
Well my Ranger Raptor came in and at MSRP I am so thankful after the TRD pro price dropped. Some option 58k minus military discount, I'm happy
Congrats man!
Was tossing it up between the Taco and LC. Definitely validates my decision to go Land Cruiser. If I’m going to spend above $60K for a new vehicle I may as well get the Japan-built legend.
Land cruisers come with a V8...
Sorry but the LC is trash and not worth 60k .. don’t combover urself ur getting a deal
@@Thesinfultruth what don’t you like about it?
@@PROutdoors94 honestly… if u know trucks u know… the 20 year old gx470 and the gx460 and better trucks in LITERALLY EVERY WAY…
This truck will be 80 grand have have plastic interior and no wood
And a 4 cylinder
The question is.. what is their to like about it
Ijs ur baby so u do not know the game
You could potentially be looking at close to $80K for a 4cyl. Tacoma TRD PRO when/if dealerships start adding “market adjustments!” I payed $47k for my 2020 Army Green Tacoma TRD PRO! We’ve come a long way. Although, at MSRP I could probably tolerate it….
That type of pricing is getting well into F150 Raptor territory. The Ranger Raptor “might” be the better buy this time around. A midsize truck with a performance V6 under the hood????
I used to own a 2018 F150 Raptor. That thing was super fast. I can only imagine what a Ranger Raptor will do…
Great trucks, Insane pricing. Can only hope they sit on lots and it goes down some.
We shall see!!!
Well I can say one thing about this….this pricing separates the men from the boys 😂
not only jon scares jeff, but both of the passengers lol
So when is the driving impression?
Hello Jon thanks for the video-Im glade I purchased a 2023 4runner because these Tacoma prices are just to high-Id purchase
a Ford ranger Raptor over a Tacoma TRD pro or trail hunter because of the cost
you driving the trd pro, that just looks like a BLAST
Do the Pro and TH get the HUD (like the Limited) then or any other options above and beyond the Premiums? I know the seats, suspension, other Pro goodies but that price is crazy!
I think Toyota is pretty smart here tbh. Jack up prices to what other brands rely on their dealers to do. Lessens the chance/severity of a ADM and/or makes sure that Toyota will not struggle to produce the volume that is being demanded.
This is a good Raptor Ranger ad 😂
Thanks for this, Jon!
I was hopeful the MPG were going to be 5-6 higher and didn't think I was being overly optimistic. Obviously, we knew about the extra HP and torque a long time ago. Just feels like there should have been a little more. If you were looking strictly at MPG (which, nobody should), you would need to drive 200k miles at $4.50/gallon over the life of the vehicle to account for the marked up price. Closer to 250k if gas stays around the $3.50 it's been by me for quite a while.
Am I wrong to think that it's actually a bit cheaper if you were to get a TRD Sport with the iforce max than expected? If you were to add 4x4 it's more but if you get the max then it's auto upgrade to 4x4?
I put money down to reserve a tacoma in February. QC hold put a damper on things. Then the Tundra had all these specials in my area. Purchased a Tundra SR5 for 1500 under dealer invoice with about half the APR % than the Tacoma would have got. I might have paid $2k more for the Tundra up front. But by the end of the loan I will have saved about $3k. Keep that in mind when your shopping. The numbers you see up front are indeed less than at the end if you are financing.
Better be snagging up the last of the 5th gen 4runners while you can. Instant appreciation.
I was set on getting a 6’ trailhunter. I’ve had multiple tacomas and currently have a super clean first gen. These prices have me thinking of getting a used raptor… 😢
Awesome video Jon! And nice driving! 🔥
There are brand new Tundras Platinum on dealer lots for $62K lol
Where was the track? Any details please! TIA Jon.
3:20 what does full time AWD system means? AWD like a Ridgeline or 4H auto like modern pickup truck, where you can still lock the 4x4 if needed?
Full time 4wd (not awd). Like the one in LC.
In this case, You can manually lock or unlock the center differential. When unlocked, it is a limited slip diff. This is great for driving on half snowy roads and when making sharp turns off road, or even all the time on pavement (unlocked). Ideally, I would own a 4x4 like this and add a rear locker for a few thousand dollars more. I believe the Trd off road, pro, and trailhunter sold now with a rear locker automatically lock the center differential when you switch from 2wd to 4wd. This means you cannot drive on pavement in 4wd like you can in an awd vehicle or a 4x4 with a manually lockable/unlockable center diff. The new land cruisers and the GX have a selectable rear locker and a selectable center differential. This means you can drive on pavement with the center diff unlocked but still be in 4wd, or drive on a gravel or dirt road with the center diff locked at speed, or lock the rear diff off road and leave the center diff unlocked for sharp turns on trails, or lock both for the worst terrain.
The Colorado ZR2 is 50k if you build it on the Chevy site, that’s with most of the bells and whistles. I love Tacoma’s but I don’t love them enough for 65k!
The "outdated" Nissan Frontier is has entered the chat at 30k
Nissan could really make some hay in this market unless they go completely brain dead
Those prices are crazy. I wonder how the used prices for the hybrid will drop in the future like most hybrid
That pricing structure is obscene. I’m a huge Toyota 4Runner fan, but DAMN! I bought my ‘18 4R TRD off road premium for $40k.
35k for out sr5 premium . 40k I am even ok with on dated 4 runner , after that , I look at other brands
There’s no point looking at new cars anymore. 2021 off-road premiums are going for $35k right now with less than 60,000 miles. That’s the new “new car” lol. People who pay these prices are only feeding the problem they all love complaining about
Dude, go calculate the inflation that we have accrued since then it’ll all make sense
At this price I’m happy I got my 24 Tundra 1794. Unreal.
Wow! Thanks for the info. It's definitely pricey.
Thanks Jon! Looking forward to my TRD OD iForce Max!
I’m waiting for the 6th Gen 4Runner Pro
Now that’s the fun I want to be having in a taco or 4Runner. Just can’t believe these are going to be more than 63k. It’s badass but my friend got his dodge for about 75k and it’s super nice. I’m going to assume that the 4Runner will be about the same or about $68k
That is insane! MPG not what I expected especially for the price tag. If the MPGs were high 20’s low 30’s then prices might be justified. I bet we don’t see many pros on the road.
Get the toyota TRD Offroad. Use that 16k for Icon stage 13. It will out perform the Pro and be cheaper.
100%!
wow 30k more than my 21 . its going to be fun just looking at these things on yotube only
All new Tacoma's ARE OVERPRICED!!!!
The fanboy has climaxed in his bias for his enthusiasm for this ridiculously priced vehicle
Trailhunter 6ft bed is the way to go
That’s what I’m thinking about getting.
Ditto
Ugh with that price! Can't believe it's going to be in the Sequoia region for the 4R when it finally goes on sale! Never thought I'd see the day when a Taco would fetch over $60k.
PS: I loved the Toyota Jeff crossover and him freaking out in the back 🤣
our crossovers are always fun. Jon is the best to work with!
The new pricing is too much for most people. You can buy a ZR2 for way less than that (52K). Our local dealers are having trouble selling the SR5s and SRs because they are so expensive. 65K and an 8% interest...no thank you.
Great video Jon!! I literally was expecting more for the Trailhunter...lol
Thank you Jon for the video. I was really hoping for better mpg. I was thinking with all the hype for this truck it was going to get 27/28 mpg. Also the smaller gas tank doesn’t help. I know most Toyota drivers like the torque and horsepower but that is pointless for me. I believe SUVs/Trucks are the next “family” car. Toyota has way to many trims for their vehicles that you would think they would have one with a bigger backseat and better gas mileage. Instead of a 6ft bed option put that extra 1ft to the back seat area. Even 6 extra inches would be better. And yes everyone I know it is a midsize truck and back seat spaces suck. Hence extending it with an option of using the 6ft bed configuration. I would take the 5ft bed with and extra foot for the back seat. Thanks.
No was never going to happen if you just looked at tundra "efficiency". There are f150s with the same efficiency 🤣.
Does this mean the hybrid 4Runners will be 4wd only too?
Safe assumption based off this.
Why is the TRD-Sport rated for less economy than the Limited? I’d think the full time 4wd would detract from the rating a bit.
Agree. Been a die hard Toyota person forever and currently own a new Tundra. But they are out of their minds any more on pricing. With continued quality issues on all their new stuff, wondering where the value is any longer.
This kind of poses a problem now what’s gonna happen with 4runner prices because historically the 4Runner equivalent of the same trim of Tacoma was a few thousand more so a Trd pro 4Runner is going to be getting very close to a land cruiser launch edition prices which then they just fully compete with each other which is going to be a problem
Yep and GX Overtrail too
@@TRDJon yeah I just remembered the GX Overtrail after you mentioned it I forgot that starts at like 69k so that would definitely compete with the 4Runner now if the pricing follows how it was previously being more expensive than the Tacoma
I have a 23 TRD Off Road Tundra with the premium interior upgrade that I got into for about 54,000 and felt it was too much. I really looked forward to the new taco and the new 4Runner but these prices are ridiculous. I expect to see 3k-5k more for equally equipped 2025 4Runner.
Affirms my 2022 4runner TRD Pro for $50k w/3800 miles a great choice!
For my Canadian friends, that is about $86k msrp. Plus tax, delivery, ppi etc. Yowza.
When will we be able to put one on order? Any idea?
Now
Thanks for the info Jon! Got my order in this morning. I appreciate the info once again
Glad i didnt wait for the hybrid models lol.
Glad I waited because that's what I'm buying
Insane prices for a Tacoma TRD pro 65,000! I only paid 68,900 for my 2023 tundra TRD pro!
Well, it means I can get the idea of getting a 4Runner trail hunter out of my head.
