I grew up in the days when all you could buy was regular cabs with an 8 foot bed. Manual windows, door locks, manual transmissions for the most part, and am/fm radios. High end meant you had AC and cruise control with a V8 engine. To the old schoolers, a truck like this is worth about $25-$30K... These people that are going out and buying these $60-$120k trucks ruined the market for everyone else, for people that just want a daily driver that you can put to work when you need to. Here is the problem. If you go too far down the performance pathway, it is no longer a truck but a form of race car. Which is fine if that is all you want, but why even call it a truck at that point. The biggest problem they will run into is that the solid H frame of a truck has it's horse power limit. Eventually you will have to move to a tube frame cage to accommodate the ever increasing suspension complexity and intake plus exhaust systems. A race vehicle is built from the cage up, not from the engine out. That will be the limit and then who are you really targeting? Dodges biggest problem is that they are shoving all this horse power into trucks that cannot handle it. Yes you can move the wheel hubs out a bit and put larger shocks on, but that will only soak so much HP and lower its usefulness as an actual truck. You also have the limits of the transmission. These things are designed to take only so much torque before they have to be completely overhauled to no blow up from all the power. Dodge isn't doing that, no one is doing that. They are just slapping bigger and bigger numbers on the engine while hoping the rest of the truck stays together.

The guys on CarEdge the other night was saying in the past 5 yr Ram MSRP has have up 50%.. that is super high.. the other are like 20-25%.. If you want to buy a new truck from Ram you have a price that is 25-30% off MSRP and make that the Out The Door price.. "not a penny more ,, not a penny less,, unless you get it for less. ""
chicken tax was initiated by foreign countries first, the US hit back and trucks along with some other things were in the reaction. i have relatives in Germany, they are farmers, for them the chickens are generally worth more alive for eggs than for meat. to keep it simple, when whole chickens are like at $23 and all of a sudden they appear at $5-7 the EU/UK farmers reacted, and protection tariffs/taxes were imposed. of course the US over reacted, by adding all trucks from EU-UK, but added Asian countries too.
If they are sitting on the lot for longer it doesn't mean people are not buying. It sounds like they get sold eventually as the right sucker comes along.
People were already sounding the alarm on truck MSRP prices 5 years ago. I’m glad consumers are finally revolting. Prices need to freeze or drop for a few years for incomes to catch up.
I bought basically the same $56k truck in 2013 for $36k I'm still driving it ..i just looked at a 2023 bronco with S11k in extras plus $2k mark up ..they wont budge off the price and I couldn't even take it on a short test drive ..
These prices need to come down to pre 2008 levels which would lower the prices around 70% roughly. You’ve got to remember the UAW retirement bailout was already cooked into the price before all these current price hikes. They should have long since sold enough vehicles to cover that cost. There deal seems to be if they keep the price hikes in place the consumers will eventually adjust to it. The problem with that thinking is they’ve literally priced them to the point we; the consumers, have completely quit looking. I know someone that bought a 3/4 ton pickup recently that could easily afford what they cost before 2020. They knew they couldn’t afford it but just decided to do it anyway. Three months after the purchase they took it back and told the dealer that couldn’t afford it.
Doesn't hurt that you can purchase a couple year old Ram truck with a V8 and around 30k miles for under $40k. Not only have Rams gotten very expensive, they depreciate a lot faster than the other companies as well.
i have not watched past videos on pricing of new autos and the current prices. not sure if there was discussion on what affected this sudden jump? - the Cov pandemic, and supposed chip shortage was played to it's fullest extent. trucks could be made, GMC/Chevy got MPG exemption/permission to use older no chip/computer fuel systems, the other manufacturers did not. these trucks were actually cheaper - economic impact /stimulus checks, people bored and spending - banks were told to give loans to boost economy, they sorta got into same situation like the real estate boom crash where they covered loans plus market price adjustments (speculation) - PPP was over generously given out in the US, businesses popped up out of no where, many businesses added all their family members as employees, alot of fraud, there were buyers who miraculously bought cars cash. this created a boom for new and used cars. once manufactures saw what the market can pay, this established a new base. when cars/trucks started rolling it continued. buyers and loans still paying these prices in 2022 and start of 2023. once the manufacturers and dealers have experienced this new base, they are reluctant to cave if they do it will be a small percent in comparison the current price. gasoline is the simplest example, when it is $3 a gallon, then jumps to $7, the lowest after that will be $5 and immediately creeps back to $7 in a very short time.
Hello, RAM CEO! We're not looking/interested in technology!!! There's wayyyy too much technology in modern trucks as it is, and it = expensive repairs! I remember a time (mid 80's)when, on a Saturday, the dealerships were packed with people. Our local dealer used to have a Saturday Morning Special..a cheap car/truck for the early birds, they used to keep it under a car cover and would reveal it a around 11am. They would hype it up on the radio all week long giving hints as what the year and model was...the dealership had free hotdogs or pancakes....They would bring in extra staff to handle all the people and sales...Local politicians were there to speak with people, sometimes a band would play...it was a county fair type atmosphere every weekend!!!...My partner and I went to that same dealer just 3 weeks ago on Saturday afternoon...we were the only customers there. :(...there were only three people on staff...the sales manager and two sales people...the service dept was closed.
I picked my co-worker up from a Ford dealership on Friday & they had so many trucks that they had to park them everywhere and it was hard to drive through their lot. They had about 30% more trucks than the RAM dealer next door, the Chevy dealer across the road had very little trucks on it's lot. I thing the big 3 are all in the same situation, they all have a lot of over priced trucks.
With Ram reliability and durability, they should pay you to take one off the lot. These POSs are the poster child for ridiculously overpriced garbage. Once your warranty lapses, your mechanic will be on your Christmas card list. No thanks!
I was a Dodge, Plymouth, Ram fan for forty years. The sixies and seventies muscle cars were legendary. Their trucks of the seventies, eighties was very good and the Rams from 1994 through 2001 were awesome. But sadly IMO no more.
The auto industry priced the average person out of the market while offering EVs at lower prices in hopes the average person would buy EVs to save money. However, the average auto repair shop does not work on EVs, there are very few charging stations close by, and the insurance industry has increased insurance on the EVs because of the repair costs associated with the vehicles (so I was told by my insurance agent). And very few people can afford to adapt their home for charging an EV/ or own a home to adapt to an EV.

Dam look at all of those 4xe Wranglers and not a single ICE Wrangler.
overpriced garbage. You're a tool if you spend this type of money.
Absolutely right only reason these prices are this high because fools kept
Buying when there wasn't a demand Idiots
Sport trucks are as daft as off-road Lamborghini
56k for basic work truck is hilarious! That's a 25-30k truck tops.😂
Quality on all these new 70+ trucks with little ass motors are going to be there downfall.
I used to buy new every 3 years until about 10 years ago the prices began creeping up and the quality going down i could not justify purchasing another and am still waiting. I guess i will just have to keep fixing the older ones as the newer vehicles seem to have to much technology and i am not about to pay monthly subscription fees on top of car payments and insurance
I want less a lot less technology , I want 35 mpg Gasoline , I want the price between $20,000 to $35000 , I had to spell it out so the car company’s can’t get wrong .
With the high gas prices, we don't need high hp vehicles
Even when they lower the prices don't forget the high interest rates, keep in mind the taxes and reg for a new vehicle along with the insurance will go up! They just cost to much for what you're getting, not worth it!
Lots of dollars on top of use invoice prices
I remember my dad saying
“ if I pay $40,000 for something, it better come with a mail box 😂 .
I’m beginning to feel the same way about spending $100,000
Interesting comment. Smart man.
It's part of the Green New deal. Pike up to the prices so much that the middle class can't afford it. And that way less cars on the road and better for the environment. Car business will still thrive through their ESG scores. But the consumers will lose.
Scary thing is all the new union labor cost haven’t even been rolled into these. Once all that get rolling they have to raise prices just like the fast food in California
Pickup trucks are pure profit. The increased wages are a drop in the bucket. Most of the labor is automated or in low cost countries.
Funny, does anyone remember that the TRX ALSO launched at $70k? See how long that lasted? Lol Something else, all grills on rams have been plastic for at least 30 years, my '94 had a plastic grill, it was just nice and chrome, but still plastic 😉
To be able to afford these $100K+ trucks you need to be working on Wall Street and making $300K+. A $100K truck is not an Investment Banker's vehicle.
Well, people keep buying them…

"Luxury" off road, that's the problem right there😂
I don't care about trucks but I'm here anyway. That's how you know you're doing a good job lol
I love the ram. I’ve had all the big three but the only ones I’ve had minimal probs with were with the ram. The prob is that they jacked up the prices so much it’s non attainable. Crazy.
I like the rams. Bought a big horn in 2019 for 42,000$ great truck. It was basic. But I don’t want leather seats. Just a work truck to tow and grab materials. The tradesman box is 5.7. Making it useless. With the 6.4 box. I can legally grab 12 foot materials with the tail gate down.
Now it'd be 90K.

Not put 10 lifts on them, squat the rear ends, and put underbody LED lighting on them because it's "cool".
Most people don’t have enough disposable income to buy a $50,000 let alone $100,000 vehicle. These dealerships are crazy. These manufacturers are crazy. Everyone knows that the only people buying these things have enough disposable income or get themselves upside down and it gets repossessed anyways. I Have accepted that I will never buy a new car again. Good luck dealerships
I bought a new ‘23 Ram Big Horn Hemi Equip Gr-1 on 3-22-24 with a MSRP of $61k for $49,329 OTD. 26% below msrp, I visited 4 dealers in Indiana and Michigan. Bought near Kalamazoo MI. I did use the 1st Responder and Employee Choice incentive from my cousin who works on the Jeep line in Toledo. I’ve been looking since September of 23 and watching Mark, Brandon and the Car Edge channel was helpful.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate your feedback.
I think the people that can afford a truck has bought them. The next few years are going to be painful for car business
Im currently looking at dumping 20 grand into my 2015 gmc 2500 (used as a tool and gets beat on) and buying an import suv for daily driving. That will be 40000 i dont have to spend and have 2 reliable rides.
40K is a lot of money too.
In a Biden Economy who can afford a 6 figure pickup truck?
This is in Canada, Trudeau is way worse.
People that make 6 figures a year?
@@metalmike570 Most people who make 6 figures a year are not buying trucks. They are usually buying high end vehicles like Teslas, BMW, Porches, Mercedes, etc. That explains why Full Size Trucks are sitting on Dealer lots.
@@pacificdragon1 Agreed!!
It will do nothing to bring people in……..people have been so soured by what’s gone on, getting them back will be very difficult at best…….
Luv your channel….Thnx !!
yeah, well when people stop buying them for over priced... they will have no choice but to reduce the prices by a lot... most people complain then buy anyway.
I was about to go from dodge to toyota. Then came the 4 cylinders. Sadly im still a dodge man still. 😂
Dodge hasn’t made a truck since 2009.
I’m so. Tired of the smaller engines, I want at least a 350 8 cylinder, looks like all my future vehicles will be 1990 model year and older. 🤷🏻♂️
Agreed 100% no V8 means no thanks for this Redneck.
Sounds like the same people that wrote the Hornet sales pamphlets.
No, they lost their fan base when they killed off the hemi(s). Trying to force overworked 6s and 4 bangers along with extra computer junk was the downfall. No reviewer can see nor will they mention the buffalo in the ballroom.
I bought a hatchback in 2008 for 13k no taxes out the door. Ive made peace ill never own a new vehicle ever again in my life. Born in 1986 this is a very sad fact for me unless things seriously change.
What a mess!
These jacked up prices on gas vehicles are meant to cover for the losses manufacturers are
being forced to deals with on their EVs, which are continuing to lose $$$.
when a $75k Ram is marked down to $47k I will buy ... I have a '21 Wrangler that I bought right before things got crazy ... got it under msrp out the door including all fees and taxes ... I own it free and clear and I'd like to get out of it for a new truck but I just refuse to do it for the price of these trucks.
CRAPSTELLANTIS isnt luxury.... maybe in a different universe... but in mine, hard negative.

Everyone knows wait until discounts then buy. Love my hemi sounds like victory…
Exceeds everyone paycheck
They will NEVER lower prices to consumers in a meaningful way. NEVER
You are likely correct, incremental drops in pricing. Think ratcheting effect.
Ram, Ford and GM have all priced me out of the market, I just bought a 2023 Toyota Tacoma last year out the door after trade it was $14,000 dollars and I paid it off in 6 months so I own it free and clear. Until prices come down to reasonable levels like starting at $25,000 dollars for entry level I am out of the market for Ram, Ford and GM.
Chrysler is pricing themselves out of the market, I was at the dealership getting my 2020 truck service and checked out the showroom and saw a jeep vehicle with a 88,000 dollar sticker price and wondered who would pay that much for such a vehicle
I picked up a Ram 1500 for 42 000 here in Canada during covid first year into it. It was ordered in by another customer who cancelled. Base truck in 2019.
I gave up on Rams when they went from the column shifter to the dial shifter. Something just feels so untrucklike without that steering column gear shift
They'd have to do closer to 50%, Not a couple thousand dollars.
47k for that tiny thing LOL that’s a 25k vehicle 🤦♂️
Cheap unit that is overpriced

I wouldn’t buy anything that said Warlock on it period!
I don't know about that. Doro Pesch back in her younger days was the desire of many a man. Warlock says All we are... we are, all we need.
2025? Broke.
chicken tax was initiated by foreign countries first, the US hit back and trucks along with some other things were in the reaction.
i have relatives in Germany, they are farmers, for them the chickens are generally worth more alive for eggs than for meat. to keep it simple, when whole chickens are like at $23 and all of a sudden they appear at $5-7 the EU/UK farmers reacted, and protection tariffs/taxes were imposed. of course the US over reacted, by adding all trucks from EU-UK, but added Asian countries too.
The chicken tax is absolutely killing affordability for Americans
Who knew the chicken tax was the problem.🤷🏼♂️
I'm glad I nabbed my 2017 Ram 1500 for the price I did, gonna drive it until the thing literally breaks in half.
For sure run it as long as you can or at least until prices becomes little more reasonable
If they are sitting on the lot for longer it doesn't mean people are not buying. It sounds like they get sold eventually as the right sucker comes along.
Unless a truck looks like it isn’t street legal, it probably isn’t really an off road truck. And where are these people driving “off road”? 😂
The Costco parking lot is, in a sense, “off road.”
So there’s that.
You can get a bronco for invoice at least for the raptor trim
Mark needs to talk about the CumminsTD. I absolutely live Dodge Trucks. My first Truck was a Dakota with the Magnum V6 - 5 speed.
For a V4…..more than 40k is a ripoff
Doesn't hurt that you can purchase a couple year old Ram truck with a V8 and around 30k miles for under $40k. Not only have Rams gotten very expensive, they depreciate a lot faster than the other companies as well.
Exactly. The value proposition is quite weak
I can sell my 05 5.9 3500 for more than I paid for it..
Ram needs to be selling at a 30% discount compared to Toyota to compensate for their pathetic quality.

i have not watched past videos on pricing of new autos and the current prices. not sure if there was discussion on what affected this sudden jump?
- the Cov pandemic, and supposed chip shortage was played to it's fullest extent. trucks could be made, GMC/Chevy got MPG exemption/permission to use older no chip/computer fuel systems, the other manufacturers did not. these trucks were actually cheaper
- economic impact /stimulus checks, people bored and spending
- banks were told to give loans to boost economy, they sorta got into same situation like the real estate boom crash where they covered loans plus market price adjustments (speculation)
- PPP was over generously given out in the US, businesses popped up out of no where, many businesses added all their family members as employees, alot of fraud, there were buyers who miraculously bought cars cash.
this created a boom for new and used cars. once manufactures saw what the market can pay, this established a new base. when cars/trucks started rolling it continued. buyers and loans still paying these prices in 2022 and start of 2023.
once the manufacturers and dealers have experienced this new base, they are reluctant to cave if they do it will be a small percent in comparison the current price.
gasoline is the simplest example, when it is $3 a gallon, then jumps to $7, the lowest after that will be $5 and immediately creeps back to $7 in a very short time.
Are these price cuts on 2024 models or 2025 models the article doesn’t specify and the msrp for the 2025 models has not come down.
No way… im not spending more than $50k for a truck. Not happening.
That’s a lot of cash indeed
I’m looking for an $18500 triuck that’s stripped but runs well. Crank windows, 6 cyl, manual, no air, radio delete option.
Hello, RAM CEO! We're not looking/interested in technology!!! There's wayyyy too much technology in modern trucks as it is, and it = expensive repairs!
How about something that is inexpensive, simple, easy to work on, yet powerful enough to tow with? No variable displacement BS! No 6 cylinder engines. Simple. Easy to work on. Got it?????
Then yuo would drive that new car to the drive in that night..
They really do
My 2019 Big Horn blackout has 122k miles and going strong. I like no payments.
Gotta make money somewhere, electric vehicle mandates will cost us all.
Is more ways than one.
I want to get a 2500 Cummins but realistically I cant see myself getting one till prices come down at least 20%
Those crazy prices are before you have to play the "gotcha" game where they add fees and club prices for things like Nitrogen in the tires, etc.
Bought my 2006 F-150 for 22k. 4x4, bench front and back. Base. Still going.
Thats a keeper same as my 2003 Ram
The auto industry priced the average person out of the market while offering EVs at lower prices in hopes the average person would buy EVs to save money. However, the average auto repair shop does not work on EVs, there are very few charging stations close by, and the insurance industry has increased insurance on the EVs because of the repair costs associated with the vehicles (so I was told by my insurance agent). And very few people can afford to adapt their home for charging an EV/ or own a home to adapt to an EV.
Im considering just buying a frame and building my own engine prices are too far in the future for me
