If you aren't considering low end torque, you probably don't need to be considering a pickup to begin with.

    • @TerraVeritas

I absolutely get the torque argument... owned many trucks of many brands for a variety of work/pleasure purposes. I don't think my 2021 TRD Pro lacks a thing, torque included. I also still have my 2003 TRD Off Road with the bullet-proof 5VZ-FE, whose light weight only adds to its off road nimbleness and effortless crawling. I can definitely appreciate torque for towing, and maybe that's where the 4th Gens may really shine in the long run, but straightline racing, as in this video, is a bit of a joke. That being said, I'll wait to see the long-term performance and reliability of the 4th gen vs 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gens. Haven't seen the 4th Gens, yet, do anything the others cannot. No shade on those who are buying the 4th gens. Good luck with your new trucks and hope they serve you well for decades to come.

Yes the 4th Generation Tacoma is quicker, BUT Historically Turbo engines simply Don’t last as long as a Naturally Aspirated Engine.
I purposefully bought a 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the premium and technology pkgs because we wanted a Proven, Durable, Reliable Naturally Aspirated V6.
In 23 the MSRP on my TRD was $51,848. I paid $48K.
To replace it with a 24, the cost Starts at $67K.
I don’t know of anyone whose income has increased by $20K in one year.
The last generation of the Tundra was bulletproof. Now in this generation with the Twin Turbos, the reliability of the Tundra has Decreased.
The same thing will happen to the Tacoma as well.
We keep our vehicles for 15-20 years or 250K to 300K miles.
