The headlights and fog lights are a must. And you don't need to remove the bumper and assembly's to change them. Headlight bulbs from the top. The fog lights I went in from the fender well. Just need to remove the bottom 3 plugs on the wheel well liner and easy access to the fog light. My quality of life mods are similar. 1: upgraded all lights to LED. 2: Locking Tonneau cover. Very helpful in long trips. 3: Side rails (mine didn't come with them), 4: Window wind visors and bug deflector. And same, didn't like in channel ones. 5: Organizer tray, got the same one in video. 6: mud flaps. Recently added 70mai dashcam as it's becoming a necessity these days.
LED foglights and map lights are a must upgrade. You can see better in the dark outside the truck, and inside as well. Relatively cheap too. Gotta love the doggos!
Interior Lighting you have is cool, but if you are going to be Overlanding, opt for some red interior lights. Nobody likes to be blasted with a bright white light at night lol. Meso Customs has them where you can switch from White LED to Red. They are awesome, and it's great to have.
I bought a 2018 sport with the long bed a few months ago and the first thing i did was a remote start (trust me i tried every combination to see if it had one) the cold colorado mornings of warming the truck up is so easy now from my living room.
I recommend the hidden compartment door you can install in the lid to the center console. I keep my Apple AirTag for the truck in it. When it’s installed, you really don’t notice it unless you’re really looking for it. I have a 2021 TRD OR in Barcelona Red with a manual transmission and OTT. Since you have the automatic, I’d highly recommend the OTT tune to help with the notorious gear hunting I’ve heard about.
I prefer the in-channel ones. I've used weathertech on all my vehicles without issue. I personally like the look more since it's more flush. From experience, the rain guards don't help when mobbing through puddles.
If you’re considering the levelling kit on the truck keep in mind that the reason the bed sits higher is that so when it is loaded it becomes level. When levelled and then loaded you will have some serious rear sag.
Definitely agree on any lighting upgrade. I am currently looking to do the same. Are you aware that you can program 3 different garage door openers on the TRD Offroad?
Since you started the 2J build, I was randomly looking at Stand-alones and you have a lot of really good options. Ideally a MOTEC would be awesome but you have a plethora of really good cheap options. I've heard a lot of people complain online about Hal-tec as a FYI.
I like my 2022 TRDOR stock. Its fine for me just as it is. If i had bought an SR or SR5 I think wheels and tires would be in order. Seems like everyone that has a problem of some kind has oversize tires, suspension mods and a tune. Rather just leave it alone.
the fog lights add nothing to driving at night. Your lowbeams cover everything. I've run both types of OEM headlamps. The normal headlamps are all you need for normal driving.
Swap the fog lights for yellow diode dynamics fogs. Tint the windows (windshield 50% on mine), Vleds footwell lighting is amazing. Seat jackets are ok. Could go with out without. The tacform phone holder is a MUST also.
Am I missing something? I just bought my Taco in August 2024 and it has mist of this stuff on it stock from the manufacturer. It's a TRD Off Road and has the LED's both outside and in. Do some TRD OR's come with it and some don't?
@@Smeedia Im going to talk to a toyota rep if I ever see one at my dealership and see if they can pass that on to the higher ups, however im glad theyre using 4pot brakes in the front to slow those down
You may want to invest in some CAT shields / covers. Having a vehicle with a higher ground clearance makes it easier for thieves! Plus, the Tacoma's CATs are pretty exposed.
For the interior led’s I know the mirror ones look blue but I replaced my mirror lights and at night if I want to use the flip down mirror is actually uncomfortable on my eyes it’s so bright. I suggest if the blue isn’t blinding or if you can get dim white ones do that over getting something extremely bright
I’ll definitely be watching these Taco Tuesday. Not too long ago I got a 23’ taco and slowly I want to turn into an off road gig. I’m not much of an overlander but going for a recovery build. Seeing what you’ll do with yours will help me
I seen a sick brand new assuming 23/24 TRD Tacoma while I was out earlier, only thing I disagreed with was the like probably 22 inch wheels on rubber bands... fuck that. Funny thing was my friend & I saw them at Harbor Freight, and then we went across the street to a game store & a new taco truck in that parking lot, and they were waiting for food by the taco truck. You're the first person I've ever heard say they don't like in-channel rain guards compared to the stick on rain guards. I'm dead serious, I can't recall a single person ever preferring stick ons. The price of LED interior kits sure came down huh? Most of mine from 6-8 years ago were probably $50 or more. I used my extra LEDs from my t-boned Infiniti for the FXT and it worked out mint, though they're a little more purple than I'd like. I also got the oem Subaru heavy duty floor mats for it, they're pretty tits. Very close to those Husky ones or Weathertech.
The price Toyota wants for new ones is absolutely WILD, they look good but I do agree with you on the rubber bands 😂 Dude the in channels, we’ve had em fly off out GTI and make the windows roll up and down all weird at times 💀

The fog lights are an absolute must, even in the Subarus they make a HUGE difference 🔥

That’s actually kinda cool, I’ll check em out 👀😮💨
I love the amber LEDs. I’ve also used a VLED kit for amber footwell lights
You can change the fog lights by going threw the top by the rad, takes about 5 min per side, no need to pull the bumper.

Wide angle mirror are an absolute 10/10
AJT Oversize Cup holder was one of the best quality of life mods by far
Thisss.. my favorite mod on my 22 sr5 lol
Love this as a new Taco owner too and looking for mods for everyday. Looking forward to Taco Tuesday!

Bro I'd eat tacos with you if you keep these taco Tuesdays
Ima keep em 😂

I think the in-channel rain visors look better, just my opinion. I've had my AVS ones for 8 years and no problems so far 🤞
If you’re considering the levelling kit on the truck keep in mind that the reason the bed sits higher is that so when it is loaded it becomes level. When levelled and then loaded you will have some serious rear sag.
I’m aware, for the occasional time I will be towing it should be alright from what I was reading 🫡
Seat jackers. Hands down best mod ever!!
Definitely agree on any lighting upgrade. I am currently looking to do the same. Are you aware that you can program 3 different garage door openers on the TRD Offroad?
For me nothing beats a brush guard and tow winch on a 4x4.
Better to have em and not need em then need em and not have em 😅

Motec REALLY expensive, not only do you need to buy the ECM but you have to pay for software as well
Prerunner Taco build would be sick! Just sayin 😈
You should see my saved carts I’ve got set up for this thing 😂
Honorable mention for an auto dimming rear view mirror with HomeLink.
Auto dimming mirrors come in clutch when being blinded 😂😅

Unless all those mods are just indicative of someone that plans to beat on their truck? Idk

What are the top five mods for a 2023 Tacoma four-wheel drive everyday mods
Dude, im down for double taco Tuesdays!
Adding some tacos for Tuesdays 😂
I’ve always wanted you to do a Tacoma build bro, not that I don’t love your Subie content. I know this will be great build

I have an sr5 with the sx package will the headlights and fog lights fit? Or does it have to be a TRD sport or up
Fog lights go through the wheel well
The deep cubby is for winch controllers , tire deflaters and gloves
I could see it being used for that 👀
My 07 trd off road was the best truck I ever owned.

Honestly if they came with disc brakes all the way around,Id look into one, however with drums im good, and Im not spending 65k on a newer* tundra.
Dude I do not understand why we are still using drums on trucks and cars in 2024 😭

I'm all about Taco Tuesday.
Tuesdays are for the taco 😂
Tacoma lookin good brother!
Issa getting there 🙌
Tacocat tacocat, heckin yeah!!! Need to get that pretty thing some new shoes, ma boy. Love the tactical keybfob dealio
Working on it 🫡 the key fob comes in clutch, thing can take a beating 😅
i dont mind the stock head lights but yeah the fog lights def need to be swapped

I can see what you mean, my internal OCD just bends that they are a different color 😅
Thank for the vid. New sub.
Another is a gas cap holder off amazon for less than 10 bucks.

i have a 2022 sr it came with leds in interior and bed lights and fog lights
Tacomas are the goat, my 1995 was indestructible. Would the EG have survived at 7500rpm?
Probably would have but we built it to do more 😅
Taco Tuesday is a thing! 🎉😂
I’m sticking with it 😂
Where did you get the wind visors you used?
What brand wind guards are those?
Did you say that you don’t use turn signals?

Well visors 🫡
Truck is well on its way, always great advice/content
One day at a time it’s getting there 🙌🥳
@@Smeedia looking forward to seeing all the great progress
husky liners fray the shit out of your carpets lol
It is not necessary to remove the bumper to remove the fog light

You do not need to make such a mess to change the fog lights. Just change the bulb to an LED 2700K bulbs and you are done in 5 minutes.......
