Great demo! So cool to see the box in use. The dancing robot cracked me up. Haha I gotta get some reference photos together to file. I have never taken my own but watching this makes me want to go hire some models and stock up.

Faces are absolutely my nemesis, can see why using a high contrast phoro can be so helpful. Love how you are constantly working and seeing the different planes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! That 'off' placement of they eye stood out to me before you started painting, but I thought you were going to do something magical with your paintbrush to fix it. This video is more invaluable as a teaching tool than a million videos which imply perfection. It is reassuring to see the pros experience the same difficulties we all experience with proportion and offer advice on how to potentially *fix* our mistakes. I love painting faces but still haven’t achieved the look I want. Watching you helps me to see things I can do differently and get a more painterly loose look.

Thank you for such a great video (including your other channel videos) demonstrating your glazing technique in portraiture. I wish there were more of these from you and other watercolor portrait artists. Finding glazing techniques using watercolor portraiture is a bit difficult. Most watercolor artists I see use the typical 3 step method of tea, milk, and honey to produce their portraits such as Marcos Beccari. Eudes Correia appears to have a style or method all of his own; maybe his inspiration comes from the music he hears in his earbuds. The portraits or figure paintings these artists create seem impossible to do by mere mortals. I am hoping that using glazing or layering techniques may provide me with steps that are more attainable by giving me more "incremental" steps so I can control my painting to achieve the image I desire. Does that make sense? Is this a worthwhile process to pursue?

Absolutely. However, it's a slicker surface and washes tend to move around when you put new ones on top. I do like the effects of the slicker paper and may try some soon.
I am really enjoying this one, I guess it is because, the shadows etc are very sharp with the angle of her face. It was good to see you break it down layer by layer. Thank you for the video.

Hi Jennie... for sure! It's tough to find that balance between realism and looseness. I'm constantly struggling with it and have been since I started painting. I spent quite a few years working in a way that needed to be more realistic. So, now, I'm trying very hard to loosen up and let things go a bit more. Old habits die hard, though.
