    I approached making this video very thoughtfully and figured it would be better to go into the very basics so that beginners can easily follow along. So I apologize if it feels too detailed for more advanced artists- I didn’t mean to be overly thorough or state the obvious 🤍 I’d love to hear your thoughts after you’ve watched it!

    The eyes in this oil painting are captured by the artist with extremely delicate brushstrokes, as if they can insight into the inner world of the characters, extremely vivid and breathtaking. The clear layers of pupils, irises, and whites in the eyes not only showcase the three-dimensional sense of the eyes, but also endow them with profound emotional colors.

    I am very thankful for the amount of attention to detail with this video! Although I know some the basics of color mixing it was a nice refresher. It was good to see and hear the thought process while mixing. Thank you so much for this video! I'm hoping to give oil painting (a try) again.

    You are a wonderful artist. Your video was helpful and as a more advanced artist I didn't feel that it was too obvious. I believe that art is a constant process of learning, experiencing, experimenting, but also refreshing previously acquired knowledge. So thank you very much for this video 😊

    Useful introduction, thanks. Glad to hear oil is forgiving. I've wanted to try oil painting for a while now but it always seemed like it would only be suited for artists with a high level of talent

    • @DariaCallie
      @DariaCallie  27 дней назад +2

      Yes, I personally find oil painting easier than getting into watercolor or acrylics. Oils may seem complicated on the surface (like needing to use a medium), but in reality, that’s not a hurdle at all. And in my opinion, they’re very satisfying to work with.
      So good luck-I hope it works out for you as well!

    Hey there! I just have a question. How do you clean brushes for new colors along the process, and how do you clean up once you are done?

    • @DariaCallie
      @DariaCallie  23 дня назад

      Hey! Usually, I dip a brush in medium and then wipe it with a paper towel before picking up a color that’s very different from the previous one. When I’m done painting, I wash the brushes with soap and warm water-it’s important to clean them while they’re still wet.

  • @magdamihgo
    @magdamihgo 12 дней назад

    Hello! I would appreciate if you read this message.
    I have a question. Is it actually harder to draw such soft, and delicate things with acrylic painting? Or is it the canvas that is important? Should it be really really smooth? Cause mine looks like it made of threads.

    • @DariaCallie
      @DariaCallie  12 дней назад

      That’s a tough question for me because I don’t have much experience with acrylics. However, I assume it's possible to achieve very soft and realistic results with them too, though the technique would be quite different. As for surfaces, I personally prefer smoother ones. When I use canvases, I like to apply a few extra layers of gesso or acrylic primer and sand between each layer to create a smoother texture. This isn't necessary, but I just prefer it that way, and I do find it easier to blend paint on a smoother surface.

    I have noticed that you are showing paint brands - I have been using Master Class finding them to be of astounding quality for the money - I find, when being encouraged to follow a tutorial, it is advised to use the paints that are being used b the artist - using other paints can be very surprising - especially if they are very high pigmented - you just can't get the color out of your brush without really washing them, and I try to just clean them using walnut oil they hold the form much longer - you are now bringing Winsor & Newton into your work - I am personally picky when it comes to my paints - Is there a reason you are doing this? Are you opening up to experiment with other brands - have you used high pigment paints like Old Holland, Blockx, Gamblin, Wiliamsburg, Michael Harding ? Do you have some wisdom on that - input would be highly appreciated - thank you.
