I've been doing the belt squats on foam boxes for a while now and they have been a game changer for me. Haven't seen them used much in other channels. Great stuff, brother!
Really good advice, especially for us older guys. I'm 68 and workout 6 days per week; (legs-arms-legs-chest-rest ......) always appreciate tips on how to grow without risking injury, thanks!
Since I now train at home, the Belt Squat has become my favourite wheel builder. I'm using a nylon strap with two pieces of chain (one of those is attached to a floor flange to mimic a Loading Pin).
I heard you very first time on Joe D podcast, and since then became your follower too. Honestly speaking your content seems so intresting and logical too.. Thanks
@@WenningStrength i am working with Mike O'Hearn doing one in one with him. I have working out most of my life not knowing anything. The last twenty years I found out about nutrition and now I apply that knowledge. Legs were doing great a few years ago. I am now going for it again. I have NO illusions but I have seen great improvements in legs when I actually started training them better. That wasn't too long ago. I am doing now. This info is priceless to me. Trust me, my legs will look great when I turn sixty-one.
Thanks for the video bud I tried doing cable belt squats today as my gym doesn't has a belt squat machine and I faced a lot of pain in bottom of my foot the fasciitis Any tips?
Nice man I broke both my legs doing unstable box squats on plyo boxes in flip flops whilst chewing gum, but on the plus side: my quads got gainzzzzz!! Thanks brah, you da best 😄💥 Can you do a video on how to train drunk next? It's my favourite way to train! Great working those stabilisers when the room goes spinny-spinny!! Gainzzzzz brah!! ❤️❤️❤️
Ok I’m gonna start doing belt squats, had a back injury awhile ago, BB DLs and squats irritate it. Lunges feel really good too for those who are having low back issues
Hi Matt! Thanks for the belt squat videos! I've noticed you and your athletes do not go much below parallel (into the deep squat) on the machine and "poor" belt squat version. Is it because it's enough for your goals or is there some deeper reasoning behind that (physiology/biomechanics etc)?
Awesome info Matt thank you once again, I am a huge fan of your videos. Any alternative to leg extension that hits the Rectus Femoris and VMO in a similar or close to similar way?
Hello Matt - interesting and professional content as always. Let me please ask you how many times a week would you train your quads (or any other muscle group) for mass and for strength and whether there is a significant difference in the proper training frequency of a muscle group for mass and for strength? All the best from Poland
Excited to try this. I’ve never done this before we only have it at one gym where I live so I’m gonna have to go check it out. I did the wedding warm-up for my arms today as an arm workout where I did 25 reps three exercises four rounds 🥵I can already feel it I am going to be crippled tomorrow. 😂🤪
Also, what would you consider light to go with slow TUT? Stay in the hypertrophy range at about 8-12 reps? Or go more? I'm just conscious of the length of time for each rep and the level of muscle capacity you would need just to hit 10 reps at 5 secs up and 5 secs down. If it's too light, it won't be optimally beneficial right?
Matt, Thank you for all these amazing videos you’ve been putting out lately. They’ve really made me relook at my training and warm ups. I’ll try to promote your channel on Reddit to get you some more attention on here. The videos are short and insanely informative.
Hey Matt. I need to fix the top 3 or 4 inches on my bench. I have no problems until I am 2-3 inches from the lockout. I have no problem shooting 585 and even 600 off of my chest but I stall out just before lockout. High pin / dead presses is what I am going to try. I just made a video of a number of my misses in the 550 -585 range and it is always a couple inches before lockout. Any ideas on how to help an old man?
Great, thanks for sharing your valuable tips. I applied it to leg press in my workout today, keeping my feet low on the plate so that my knees and toes are aligned the same way. Pain hell, but a really good pump after. I will try these for a couple of months and see if I notice a difference. Thanks for sharing! I watch all your content. LOTS of great tips! I've been working out for 32 yers. Getting closer to the age of 50 now - so got to keep pushing. :)
What about for squat to build strength and size; going slow while going down on a squat (with a pause), then exploding out of the hole. Would this work for size and strength at the same time?
for leg extensions is it more beneficial to do just moderate weight. In another video you've said that leg extensions can be detrimental on your knees. Is that only true but for heavy weight?
@@WenningStrength It might be a bit of a stretch, but nothing says manly like the old Eastern Block Monobrow, ya know? I think it might also draw attention away from my bingo wings and excessive nipple adipose. (I also need something to stop me from crying when I watch soap operas, but that's a topic for another day...)
What's your opinion on split squats and landmine squats as substitutions for back/front squats? tbh my body just isnt a big fan of either back/front squats so im really tryna find that perfect substitute! (I also want to try belt squats eventually but im without the apparatus to do so haha)

Is there any advantage to squeezing at the top of the rep? The pump is crazy but I eventually can’t do as many reps on the last set.
