Great video, Matt! It’s a great breakdown of proper squat form. I especially liked your advice to less-experienced lifters of not pushing core lifts to failure because their lifting form will break down. That’s when injuries happen, even for young guys. I’m 67, and especially when I do squats and deadlifts, I’m very focused on lifting form. Every rep. Every set. Every time.

I have learned more from the last 2 weeks of watching his videos than I have from anywhere else...

In my opinion a complete beginner system would be better than just a beginner squat program. I have all of Matt's programs and manuals but none of them is suitable for true beginners. No beginner can train by RPE or by the principles of Conjugate. It's a shame that one of the best coaches in the world doesn't offer a complete system for beginners where you can learn everything from scratch. I coach at a local school and I would love to have program or at least a template with Matt´s basic principles. I truly value his work but that´s very frustrating

@@WenningStrength the general foundation of fitness in youth is unbelievably, disgustingly poor. Like horrid. So a base of general fitness has to be addressed at all times. you can´t expect a kid to get stronger before having a general fitness base. This is where Matt comes into play in my opinion. We need a program like how to build a base of general fitness from scratch? I´m talking about young kids who never touched a barbell. A comprehensive guide to get the kids from point a to b to c. I would love to see that

      @@WenningStrength Fair enough, my apologies.
The shoe comment is legit though. They don't seem safe at all, especially with the heavier weight (a big kid like that is going to lift) and really driving the outside of the foot into the ground to create more of an arch. The kid has a good chance, if he really commits to powerlifting, of being a legitimate super heavyweight. He'd probably benefit from lifting in shoes similar to what you're wearing.
Btw, been using the knees out cue on the concentric part of the squat, but had forgotten it might be better for the beginning portion (starting the squat by opening your knees).
(I actually do subscribe to you because of the knowledge you share, not to mention your overall approach to powerlifting that is designed to keep you healthy throughout your career and well into your retirement. I was just having a bad day yesterday. :)
