    I made a little improvement to your version. I made jhook on the same level with opposite safety bracket. Seems to work better. Added safety bracket above jhook so I can hold on to it. On the barbell I put sleeve with the chain (available on Amazon for $ 16 as a T-bar attachment). That way I can keep torso almost vertically erected. As collars i used Ivanko old style. Everything else would slide after 4 plates. Put 2 3inches steps. Since my torso is bend over maybe 10 DEG filing is exactly like on the belt squat machine. I also bought real belt. The dip belt just does not work. Big difference.

  • @mikelynn8977
    @mikelynn8977 3 года назад

    I like it, but I made one with a 4x4 and just drilled a hole in the back part of the 4x4 to run the safety bar on a squat rack thru it. I attached a 1 inch black iron pipe on top with a flange and 2 eye bolts on the front for the belt and it works perfectly. I support it with a 4x4 with an attached handle. Painted it black. Less than 30$. Love it!
    I can only get about 225 on it so I did order the bells of steel belt squat. I could get more weight on it if I ran the iron pipe thru the 4x4 horizontally but I wanted to able to go low on certain days.

  • @NesolitS
    @NesolitS 2 месяца назад

    Yes, I agree, your version is superior, but it implies that I have a Power rack, which is not practical for an apartment. This is exactly why I think that the Landmine version with feet on two thicker weight plates is quite sufficient for all but those who are looking for the maximum, and is especially sufficient for older exercisers. Although there is a possibility to improvise with the Landmine bar and additional holders so that it is almost the same as your version. For example, a Swedish ladder on the wall can be perfect to hold one side of the bar at the desired height and look much nicer in the apartment and take up much less space. From our side, we can rest the plate on anything and also move from the side. Best regards and thanks for the ideas.

    1. Why do we need belts that are pulling us forwards?
    A belt or chains around thehips that connects the weights vertically downwards the spine would be better so we can do squats while our spine is straight.

      Hey man. Thanks for watching! I do not think the bar would remain on the band peg tbh.

    Where exactly should the belt be resting? Loving the decompression and pump at the same time 😃

      You want it fairly low without it slipping off.

    Great video. I have both a question and a comment. First my question. Why is it important to have the far end of the bar angled upward on the rack? Also, how do you determine how far upward? One peg? Two pegs? Thanks
    Comment: In regards to counter balancing the weight with one or two plates on the non-squat end, I simply used cloth daisy chains (from IronMind - rated at 3,000 lb strength) looped around the bar and the catch arm or safety peg end and secured with a carabiner. That holds it securely from flipping up. Also, for good measure, I placed a rack peg just above it for added security against the bar flipping up. This works for me especially since I don't have many extra 45s lying around to use for counter balancing so this is a good option for that reason as well. Also, it negates your concern about the counter balance plates bumping into the rack itself while squatting. I was hoping to take a photo of it and send to you however it doesn't seem to allow sharing photos here in the comments. Thanks again for your inspiration. 👍🏼

    This is a long time after...but I have been using the landmine variation on raised platforms. It is true as stated here that the 45 pound plates are huge, so the platform is necessary. The main issue is I have to start in the squatted position to hook on. So my first movement is from squat to standing. I actually found it is not as hard if I use my hands on my knees as leverage to stand up the first time (or use handles or something else to hold on to to pull yourself up). Again, it is true as stated here that you solve one problem only to create another. But for someone who works out alone, it might be worth the effort.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video for us, it's a brilliant idea and suits my set up very well. I've been doing a lot of deficit deadlift and good morning volume on my lower days, so this movement is a very valuable tool for getting some quad/abductor work in when my back is already fatigued.

    did belt squats the other day. great exercise. was my final exercise after doing leg extensions tof failure for a few stes- i do pre exhaust training. Was able to put 5 plates a side on it for up to 10 reps . Great stimulation of glutes.
