I do believe there is a trend going on right now where people are no longer barbell squatting & using deload squat devices so to speak..Coleman has scared many with his lower spinal issues & he has told in interviews the pops he heard that started his trips to a hospital were during barbell squats,, ..People are no going away from putting a barbell on the back of the base of the neck for squatting anymore..They want good spinal health & will feel poor spinal health would be in their future with barbell squats..They look at the load of a squat & if the load or majority of load isn't near or completely below the hips, whether belt squats or even the good structured leg devices, they won't use that squat device..Some are even using hack squats where the bars to load the plates are below the hips..In other words, they are trying to deload the spine as much as possible out of pure fear..And I don't blame them to be honest.

Man this is one machine I would to have in my home. I’ve been squatting for years and tore up my lower back. Now I’m progressively bouncing back BUT have to be very mindful not to compress the lower back with weight on my shoulders. This machine solves the problem safely. The best part it seems is you can start minimally and work your way up. Awesome!
    Thank you.

Time and rest are your best friends for recovery. Research the best Stretches and slowly get back as much as you can tolerate. You’ll become frustrated and agitated at times when the back just does not speedily recover. Be patient. Proper nutrition, rest and time will help you bounce back.

prioritize good mornings/box squats + & all loadable hinges.. with clean technique and this will solve your issue.. other accessories like bridges, glute ham vars, loaded/bodyweight hip extension (e.g., reverse hyper, banded hip extension, bodyweight via prone movements), and lastly anti-extension core work (via posterior pelvic tilt/hollow position) are also key

This has to be the best belt squat video I’ve seen so far. I’ve been training for years and I’d never heard of the exercise until a few weeks ago. Here in the uk I’ve never seen this machine in any gym. Having a weak lower back I’d love to try it out. Been doing goblet squats and hack squats but this exercise looks great. Might have to try the two box and a loading pin method.

What you described around 2:10, where the lifter is at their max and can't go up happened to me today when using a different hip belt machine. I eventually struggled to get the clip off, but it was certainly unsafe, and now I won't be using that machine to train at my max without a spotter. The wedge built in your machine to stop the weight at a point that allows the lifter to get out safely is simply brilliant.

My gym doesn't have a belt squat machine. SAD. So I put two benches about a foot apart, stand up on them and use a dip belt with a heavy kettlebell hanging from the chain and squat that way. It's a good accessory, but it's hard to maneuver to put a heavy enough KB on the chain. It's not perfect, but it works OK.

Belt squat is way way more functional than a barbell squat..For millions of years we always squatted to lift objects below the hips..We never squat to lift objects already way above the hips..And also in a barbell squat for most during the entire squat it stays above the hips..
Deload spine squats I call them is the trend of the future..People are no longer loading weight below the base of the back of their neck anymore..This is a great device..If you continue to heavy barbell squat expect poor spinal health in the future for most IMO..Everyone knows what happened to Coleman..

      Truth

    • @criteriumprovidus4360
      @criteriumprovidus4360 Год назад

Not true at all. The most efficient way to carry a heavy load and be able to move is by mostly using your entire posterior chain (Back and Gluts) and of course your legs. If you killed a small deer 20,000 years ago and you had to carry it back for 2 miles I would love to see how in the Fc#%$^ world you will be walking with the deer between your legs. I'm pretty sure the hunter will SQUAT down and put it on his back. Before you start spreading ignorance you should do some research.
Yes, accidents happen but mostly to ignorant and morons that start doing squats without having any freaking idea as to what is a safe way to squat.
I have low back and thoracic discs herniation from doing other things and I'm able to squat 300Lbs with no problem. In fact when I squat heavy the pain goes away. When I don't squat for a few days and I stay inactive seating down my back start to hurt. Belt squat should be use as an accessory not as a foundation compound exercise.

With the belt squat Why would you ever want to do regular squats again? Seems completely unnecessary other than the ego portion. Just like trap bar deadlifts as opposed to conventional dead lifting … unless you’re competing there’s no reason to do either.. here’s another great idea for all those that squat and dead lift. You should think about decompressing your spine after every session done via a teeter machine, will greatly extend your life of lifting.

6:40 Notice how his form goes to crap on the "handless" squat.
His chest drops & his back rounds, which is unavoidable because the hip belt is loaded onto the hips/fulcrum which travels back as one descends into the squat, which then cause the hips to be pulled forward at the bottom.
If you are going to use a machine like this, you are better off using a Chest/Squat Harness.
Pit Shark has one they use for Push Ups & Spud Inc have a good one.
But Hip Belt squats just flat out suck, if you don't believe me just try them yourself with a heavy dumbbell on a dip belt.

The more astute among you would have also noticed the way the cameraman goes round to the front to hide the technique breakdown.
