  • In this 7 days to die horde base series I show off a horde base, run you through an in depth build tutorial, toss a 7 day horde at it, and then judge it. Usually that’s the plan. Sometimes when the base is just too big to cover in a single video, I do the base tour and horde night. I’ll close out with some ratings and upgrade options. The goal is to pack as much information into a short video to give insight and decide if this is the best horde base for you. As I move forward with this series, I'll be taking my prior A19 bases and putting them back through the gauntlet.
    === The Tower v2 ===
    This base was designed to play with the new circular mechanics in Alpha 20 and to teach you how to use some of the multi-block constructions. At the hard this is a simple door base with a pole entrance to force the zombie to fall and thin the horde while you mangle the ones in front.
    This was originally designed when Alpha 20 was still in the experimental build. When stable dropped, the Fun Pimps introduced new zombie AI that greatly impacted the performance of the base. I spent a day of testing and am now releasing this as an updated version to combat that new AI. Hope you enjoy and that this helps out!
    If you are building this in your world, take creative liberty and modify it! Let me know what you build with this is a starting point. Meet me down in the comments to tell me how this base looks and if you are going to give it a try!

    I've been in covid quarantine for the past week and my voice is pretty shot. Wanted to get this one out to folks - especially anyone who built this during experimental. Let me know how this works for you with the new tweaks! Spent a day testing to make sure it worked right after the stable build!

    Hey, thanks for this, great build. So far I have built 3 of these bases directly outside of 3 traders inside a random gen world. Only finished 14 day horde recently but zero issues so far. The best of the 3 has two auto shotgun turrets beneath the windows with hatches for easy access and an double as an extra layer of defence if needed. And I have two piston turrets running along the walkway (I invested in robotics heavily early on). Very little is actually getting to the point where I can even whack it with a club. Aside from that the bottom floor is laced with spikes and I'm feeling pretty frikkin' safe. Apart from switching to steel foundations eventually, I'm curious to see how long that set up will last me.

    • @WaywardEko

      That is awesome to hear you getting some good mileage out of this base! It's also a great template that you can play with -- can use a square structure and start layering in all the traps!

    Hey Eko, once again you've proven to be THE BEST engineer to explain how to build amazing structures in the most comprehensive manner. I think the checker board style platform helps distinguish the placement of each block the best! A challenge I propose for you is to develop an "Eko style" bunker that has an underground entrance. I know there are the correct pieces to make a dome bunker with small (but wide) windows. And I've seen other newer channels make them but failed to explain it in Eko-format. And I don't want to feel like I'm just pumping up your ego (where you are a very humble man), but actually recognizing a talented teacher of engineering horde bases. I wish I was in a position to start my channel but I'm just not there yet. Once I am, I promise you I will be in contact so we can colab and create some epic structures! Always hoping you and your loved ones are safe and warm in these harsh seasons where Tem and I are way up here in the north east suffering "nor-easter's!", Lol. Rock on brother and keep making amazing content 🤘😎

    While i have not done tower like yours, i use same principle for my horde bases and i did find using pole only at the end seems best way to go and also having plenty of stairs for getting back up. Once you can put electrical fences across and upgrade everything to concrete/steel your pretty golden i think. I'm thinking of even putting electrical fence around base of my square bases just to freeze zombies that come up to bash my wall, that would lesson damage they do to wall and once out of rage mode should still turn around to back up to the stairs after they finish raging.

    • @WaywardEko
      @WaywardEko  2 года назад

      I think that the electric fences are clutch. Trying that out on my TNP run through right now. Basically trying to break the cycle.

    • @zengrath
      @zengrath 2 года назад

      @@WaywardEko Ah yea, nothing wrong with playing with applying your own limits to keep the challenge. If you find electrical fences OP. I honestly avoid using almost all defenses simply due to losing exp. electric fence is only one I use because it does a low enough amount of damage so i can still kill them. But i can see how some may think they are OP :)

  • @FishyTheKid
    @FishyTheKid 2 года назад +2

    I've noticed that making a set of stairs using just blocks make the zombies jump meaning they are really slow, I use this until day 50+ and it's so op.

    • @WaywardEko
      @WaywardEko  2 года назад +3

      I've been going back and forth. With the new 50% destroy everything shift when zombie fall, they have gotten more fickle in general. For now I'm going back to stairs because they were just beating on the jumpy blocks. I have definitely used both methods!

    This is the best looking horde base out right now. Unfortunatlay though, my castle came tumbling down at day 49. I didn't listen to you and only did one stair and it came back to bite me. Also, you do have to fill in the middle of the base completely and I did not do that. It was beautiful while it lasted. Is there a place I can download this castle so I can import it into my save game? I like adding POIs and bases because it makes the game even more exciting even though with Compo Pack 48, their is no shortage of POIs.

    I’ve tried this as my horde base and it held horde night pretty well. I personally felt one big vulnerability was not offering the ability to shoot the zombies that were hitting the foundation of the tower…they did manage to break couple blocks so that’s probably the first thing I’d look into change in this base. Vultures might be a problem too, so perhaps switching some of the ceiling plates with wooden bars might help so you can shoot the vultures. Other than that, nice base…good job

    • @WaywardEko
      @WaywardEko  2 года назад

      Thanks Guigs! The long term evolution will be to get some electric fences around the base -- especially after see the recent experimental patch. Need to experiment with the new statement that entity damage will stop the rage. Agree that there is vulnerability on hitting zeds at the base. glad it's holding up for you! And yeah - bars on the top are totally valid to hit vultures.

      It think one of the best ways would be to add additional towers or structures to house the electrical stuff. I'll loop back to this base a little later and see if I can do something -- you can take a look at Frosthaven (ruclips.net/video/kBp_WtZgjL0/видео.html) for ideas though.

    so, just wondering if the zombies come up to the tower when it's not a blue moon? Are you constantly having to fight them every night?

    • @WaywardEko
      @WaywardEko  2 года назад +1

      So during the blood moon, the zombies sense and no where you are ... during any other night, you might have a few wandering zombies, but not many unless you create a lot of "heat". Heat is an in game mechanic caused by noise, torches, forges, cement mixers, workbenches, firing guns, mining, etc. that will bring zombies to you.

      @@WaywardEko Last night I ended up having my day 60 blue moon night. This was my 2nd horde night, as I have it setup on the 30 day cycle. I'm a total newbie and horde night is only a part of why I like this game. Any way, thanks so much for this tower. I set up a tower like this at the front of my base. It worked great! I made it through, and probably killed every zombie. In my first horde night I died within minutes so this was great. I came very close to dying due to the iron hatch getting destroyed, so I'm going to modify that part - maybe use a double hatch. I had set up a double iron door in the back of my fort with a pit with stakes, but I don't think any tried to come in there. They seemed to all come to the front of my base and funnel in to my tower opening. I had two big burn barrels out front out on the far edges of the property to attract the zombies to the front of the base, and it worked. I also set up bars as a ceiling on the very top of the base to protect from the zombie vultures. After the human zombies quit, I kept hearing noises and when to the top and there were about vultures trying to get through the bars and I was able to kill them with no injury. The bars kept them off me. Awesome. Thanks again. This was a much better experience for me.

    • @WaywardEko
