The little pole you have at 9 min ,23 sec horizontal place. If you place it vertical over a horisontal pole (the one under your bars, at you last base) Most zombies will be pushed of the horisontal pole, while trying to pass. if you place it with the 1/2 at the bottom, they hardly can hit it too. making it ideal for an obstacle base.
15:19 those blade traps up there I think they have a chance of decapitating zombies but the same effect can also be achieved by putting a blade trap on its side if you find the right place above the zombie. Which may make for a trap that doesn't get hit as often by cop puke. Also, if you find a spot for decapitation on tall zombies like demos, bikers and feral wights, paint that spot. I forgot mine when experimenting at the box factory. It was even in repair range from my fighting position.
My observations are very bad. Still so little subscribers. Jeez Tem, go get some more!
For the visibility @17:18 what if you were to put sections of walls a bit further from the base in order to block line of sight for the cops? Sort of like a privacy fence but could be broken up into sections
Could you possibly investigate whether having a line of barbed wire fence underneath a 5x3 garage door still works well? I built a corridor utilizing this mechanic in A18.4 (I think) and it slows the zombies running through it to a walking pace. The only way for the barbed wire to take damage was from cop and demo explosions.
This video is why GNS needs to be the top subbed 7Days channel. The shoutouts to other channels, proves ultimate class in character. I really appreciate how Tem gives credit where credit is due.
Great video
I still like jawoodle more
It's always, always cool to see different big-brain ideas of how to handle a horde base.
And it's awesome of you to shed some light on other creators too!
I love the tempo and structure of your videos. Just got a friend into the game and this was the perfect video to drop as we start facing more difficult hordes. Keep up the great work, you’re among the top in my eyes.
Can I join? :>
Thanks for including my tiny boom base Tem! I don't consider myself a builder by any stretch of the imagination but I do enjoy bases with maximum explosive potential 🤭 My favorite cheaty base is blade traps hanging off the side of a 2 wide runway and a 1 inch gap between the traps and a repair platform... basically AFK horde base if you have a couple hundred of steel to repair throughout the night lol As always... this is a wonderfully put together video and great horde base tips 🥰 Ur always dooooing it Nemesis!!!
You like explosives? I never realized that.... 😆💣
@@violetteplague3043 lulz.
Two suggestions I have for you: 1. Place the Blade Traps vertical directly over the walkway, alternating sides where they're slightly offset from being centered. Reason being is they have a better head-hit chance for running zombies and you get contact the entire run. 2. Placing a ramp frame on its side at the melee point with a roof that stops them from stacking will force zombies off the path as they squish in without running risk of setting off Demolishers like the Sledge Turret does sometimes. It's off balance looking but very effective... try it out 😉👍
Do you have possible pictures for that side ways ramp setup? It's just alittle confusing and I'm pretty green to this game
OMG the zombie flatulence was hilarious 😂 idk why but I'm dying! 🤣
Thanks for this man, I love 7dtd and started Undead Legacy because of your series. I struggle a little bit with Horde bases and this guide was extremely useful. Love the content brother, keep it up.
Excellent video, really appreciated the references out to other people's specialty videos for deeper coverage on topics.
I can't take full credit, I learn a lot from watching these other channels!
Returning to 7 days for the ps5 console launch haven't played since ps4 2019 and this video is very helpful for the prep thank you !!!
Not sure if you mention this later in the video, but I notice, at 9:10, you have the barbed wire running perpendicular to the path the zombies are taking. If you have it running parallel with the path (where the wire on the individual barbed wire block/item is going in the same direction as the path), it slows the zombies more effectively (there's a brief moment between barbed wire blocks where the zombies aren't slowed if it's perpendicular).
Awesome video so far - eager to see the rest. Finally subbed too. Not sure what I was waiting for.
Excellent, well presented and very helpful. As a player returning to 7 DTD I had forgotten so much, this reminded me and taught me a few tricks. Many thanks.
I've only recently started watching your channel but I've already started incorporating the tips you gave in your Darkness Falls series. Your builds are highly effective and extremely stylish!! Thank you so much for making this video!
I especially love Tem's style.
A well done, very educational video. I've logged almost 4000 hours in 7D2D and still I'm learning things. The delving into code is light-years above my pay grade, but fascinating. Your base designs are topnotch and visually dramatic. Except for prettying it up, I will apply many of the points you've made into my own games. Thank you for being an excellent teacher. 👍👏😁
Great vid. Its nice to see someone put out something this complete. Especially, after all the time (tons) I have spent coming to the same conclusions. The video references you made to other RUclipsrs was great and spot on. There's a couple there I haven't seen and am going to check out. I've been playing with crawl bases lately to interrupt the zombies but the Cops will still stand, half through a block, and spit (the spit tends to hit the block in front of the one they are standing through). All the best. Keep smiling.
For Rage mode, if you haven't seen the info or it's not mentioned elsewhere in the comments, you just need to be +11 blocks from the ground and they'll try to path to your player height (as long as a path is there) rather than enter rage mode. It pretty much defeats rage mode. They can still enter it if there's no path or after they reach your height level.
Thank you for the information. I've been playing this game for quite a while and I still learn new and interesting things from your videos. Keep up the great work.
Well done Sir! I've watched so many of these videos and this was so very clear and concise on all the important points. This is an amazing resource for the community!
HORDE BASE HOHAHAH! It has been great to follow the evolution of the GNS style bases. I think my favorite is still the Vanguard base, the the Citadel of Steel being a close second
Great vid! TY for clarifying rage mode. It’s one of the more perplexing things in the game when it comes to trying to predict, and an easy thing to forget about when starting a base early-game.
Speaking of bases, I still want to build a bedrock horde base one of these days, but just building a bedrock HQ is SO much work, so kudos to those who do it (I’ve seen some awesome ones on the multi-server)!
Great video! And absolutely appreciate the fact that you linked to the other RUclipsrs videos that you mentioned. That really helps a lot. Please keep up the good work and we’ll see you in the next video soon. All the best.
Great vid, great info! The sounds though...priceless! lol. Like when Alene hit the ground, the Demo in fast forward!
Love the style of your channel and information. It's nice to see the shoutouts to other players and channels also for further viewpoints and information.
I like this video. It gives some nice tips. Can you do a video where you go over a few bases to show progression of style and preparedness from night 7 to night whenever the horde stops getting worse?
hey, thanks a lot! Definitely going to improve ours using some of this technology, but we are playing fully immersed, no codes, mods, just enjoying what it is and it's a blast. Day 51 we lost everything and the world fell apart, but that was alpha for ya :) So we are on round 2, day 16, surviving well! Thanks for the additional tips with steel outside of concrete!
This was an excellent and highly informative video. Cudos! 2 things I like to do with my bases is instead of using a straight entry path is use a path that wraps around the central area so that I can engage with multiple blade traps and repair them all, and to use vertical dart traps over ladders.
My buddy and I have always used a slightly altered variant of the turtle base. We'd build a house like base on the ground, then dig out a trench usually 4-5 blocks in width surrounding the base, and dig out a "basement" structure under the house which housed what we call "The Gore Hall" The Gore Hall is a basement structure that is larger in width and length than the above base, and houses an inner section to enter the base above, with a surrounding hallway lined with bars and downward facing stair blocks for the ability to fire at zombies on the ground or digging below. The trench would be filled with spikes with a line of barbed wire on the blocks directly outside the bars, slowing zombie travel. For entrance into our base we'd either hope we're really good at parkour or temporarily make a frame bridge to then destroy, until we get a drawbridge. Usually my buddy stays topside with an LMG and I stay in the Gore Hall with my trusty Auto shotgun. As the base goes through more horde nights, the trench is gradually expanded by zombies breaking blocks, especially demos. It's not a perfect design but the use of the trench slows down the zombie advance drastically and leaves us out of sight of police zombies long enough to kill them before they can even spit. We've had 2 big time bases with this design philosophy, One was utterly annihilated as we put our game stage really high as our sendoff to that playthrough, and the last one received major damage on one occasion but was never destroyed. We're actually in the beginning phase of another play through with Alpha 21 and we're absolutely gonna do it again as it makes horde night so much fun
excellent video. I'm a big fan of the fish hook style base which just adds a few more steps to this and a LOT more electric fences.
So much info packed in one video. Amazing
it took me a week but i have finally watched all the videos you link throughout the video and finished the video itself, now i feel ready to start my first game of 7 days to die and build my 1st horde base
I actually avoided that block guide video while looking exactly for that and never finding it because it looked like a glitch video, I'm glad I've rewatched this 3 times so it could finally click lmao
It's real :)
Dude! THANK YOU for this. It’s great info. I lost my gaming desktop to its motherboard 😢 now playing on my gaming laptop (I know I know NOT reliable) and I haven’t played for a while and forgot their pathways. I have to keep the specs low and can’t have too many zombies 😭. Nice job giving other RUclipsrs a shout out ❤
Nice vid, I use the combo of the floating and afk base it's working great for me and it's easy to finish by 1st hord night
Very informative video regarding base design! It gave me some ideas for my next base. Thanks for sharing.
the links in the description alone make this video an incredible resource/guide. thanks for this
I remember surviving in a base built around the protected Trader (not useful in DF). Basically, I dug a pit around the Trader that was 5 wide and 5 deep. Using plates on the unbreakable trader border, It allowed me to build defensive walls around it and as long as you didn't wander too close to the actual compound you were solid. They could not damage the protected trader level so even if they blew up they just dug down but not inward to where you are. Tough to do early on but once you have a good shovel/pick (or in UL they have the Valkyrie drill) it is an easy to defend and construct a safe area.
Also, putting up pillars that don't have anything to do with structural stability gives them something to rage on without bothering your base safety.
what a great video, thank you very much for all the effort you put into it. also love it how you link to so many other content creators
awesome base design, loved the clogging down there
Wu, i was long watting for a Base build tips update, man, i really took the multiple railings on the front inspiration, same me and my buds on horde night agains the Demos
This was the first 7 days to die video I’ve ever watched and I do not live under a rock thank you very much
I super suck at horde base building, thanks for teh tips. i particularly like the straightforward explanation of zombie pathing and behavior.
Great video bro!
He REALLY needs to either pin a comment or add something on screen to tell people that as of A21 Bunker bases no longer work so people like me dont waste 8 hours digging one out just for them to ignore the opening and tunnel right down to me...
Great video Tem. I love these base building updates, even if they are meant for newer players there is always something to inspire any viewer. I always play with my horde and crafting bases in one location and usually I try to make my entrance the same as where the zombies attack, adds a bit of realism and a challenge.
They are meant for any player. I've played many servers past day 7000 now and I still learn
Great video! Very informative while still being fun to watch and has given me a few good tips for my horde base once i build it. Also earned a sub :D
Kick ass primer for anyone starting out and thanks for the all the shout outs!
Great work as usual Temreki. Legend man
Dude, you just gave me some good ideas for my base when Alpha 21 comes out. That has earned a sub XD! Will definitely keep an eye out for more videos.
Great video. Loved the Jawoodle shoutout
All very good Information. Please keep up all the amazing work that you do
Getting back into the 7 days scene and just watched your vid. Appreciate you plugging my vid, very kind of you mate! You're a gentleman, thank you 💙
This video help inspire my horde base design.
I start the typical stair style base with a main base 5 wide with a sledgey boy to reset their path but as I go into late game I expand the runway to 3 wide wall off the sides so they don't reset I place eletirc wire traps for ez head shots blade trap before main stair case to weaken them before they climb I have a cage made of bars to shoot through and the classic hatch smg turrets on the sides of hatch lined up with the main path switches for all traps so i can activate everything as needed and a single block inside my main kill room for a robotic ranged turret, seeing that water pit reduces the rage mode I may just start adding that into the mix
As a brand new player to 7 Days to Die, this is a GOD TIER tips n' tricks video! Thanks dude! 💯
REALLY useful... even for vets. Absolutely loved you citing so many other videos.
Probably one of the best tips videos I've seen, Nicely done. 😍
... and the spikes on the walls of the base made it better! ^_^
Great video! Just don't forget that the more complex the path, the more likely a random zombie will go into "destroy area" mode. Also, zombies won't go up to then go down, but will sometimes undermine a base even when there are stairs leading directly to the player. So fill in those pot-holes!
GNS love your video's. It would be cool if you did a tutorial on how to setup a test server. I am struggling with how to set one up. To figure out if my horde bases will work in actual game play before I build them. Cudos to you on all the props that you give to fellow 7D2D creatures.
Cool tips! I'd like to see more explanation on the anatomy of various base builds.
Love your videos... The fart noise on landing was a nice touch, lol...
Would love if you could make a tutorial build on that base, it looks so good!
The mayday call was a great touch at the end ❤
Great video! You should make base build videos if you’re ever in need of video ideas
If only someone could mod in a "zombie flipper" to yoink the zeds a fair distance away... now THAT would provide some funny footage = ) Awesome showcase and massive respect for shouting out the other channels ! = )
Darkness falls plasma baton. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
10:25 Best moment of the video 🤣. Very nice video btw
the fart noise when they hit the ground was pretty funny and this video gave me ideas for my solo horde base
Thanks for this, you have some great info here!
10/10 video mate, great work
Your bases are so well done I wish I could build like this.
This explains the game defence basically is 1 video. Now i dont need to go watch 10 vids for everything. This is all i needed to know. Thanks you legend🙂👍🏼
Really great video... do have a question.;. how do you optimize loot bags? Often see them disappear .. not sure if the zombies are eating them when raging or such
Great tutorial video! One extra tip: it's important to make bottom of the 'zombie pit' sturdy enough to survive at least one cop explosion. If zombies get into a pit from which they cannot climb/jump out, they will start to dig horizontally towards you, potentially undermining your base.
This is a fantastic video, thank you for the incredible effort and time you put into this!
How did I miss this video when it came out? lol. Love the variety of tips, topics and explanations man. Keep up the great work!
Appreciate it!
God I love this game and this tutorial is simply GODLY ! It helped me a lot !! Thank you for this tutorial brother ❤👍🙏🙏
I really like making ineficient bases, bunkers and stuff. It feels cooler. Once i did an age of empires 2 town center.
The fart when zombies fall was cracking me up 😂 Well done
A demolition zombie ruined a horde night for me. I had set up a system where they walk up the ramp and over where I was shielded by what works for normal zombies, but one wrong hit on that the demolition one and it destroyed that section. I die more from running out of stamina, because I am always running away lol.
I am going through my first none POI hoard base playthrough. This was helpful but since I hate breaking emersion with zombies acting weird and weird structures I can't use all of these.
I just started to play the game and damn I learned a lot from this video :)
Thanks for that!
Someone really needs to send a link to Neebs Gaming they could use the instruction 🤣
Hell yeah 😂
Appsro's the only one who'd learn anything.
Unfortunately Neebs Gaming is far too stupid to build anything of respectable quality. They're just in it for the LOLs, nothing clever, nothing truly "survivor" worthy but... they are entertaining 😜👍
With Neebs Gaming and the coming onslaught of horror in Darkness Falls, I kinda hope they could learn and survive but they have been playing 7d2d since what alpha 17 so think learn/git good is an alien concept at this point. It's comparable to a Three Stooges skit at this point 🤣😔
Thanks for the video excellent work and excellent information loved it
Amazing info in one place. Cant wait for next alphas version of this video ha
great castle 👍👍
my friend and I, use a base thats both our living/crafting, and horde, the crafting area is essentially a bank vault in terms of construction and we've been pushing it to see how long it will last
I know this is so cheap and dumb.. but I giggled literally every time that zombie dropped and farted. It only got funnier xD
Man, I remember shootin' zombs in that base you showcased near the end. Awesome.
That was a fun night for sure!
exactly what i needed for console where zombies are so dumb they just spin around
Thanks! Esp I didn't know about the door thing!
TNice tutorials was great! the way you explain tNice tutorialngs and repeating it really helps. thanks for the tutorial!
I feel bad for the Mother that bore all those zombie twin's.
Great video, thank you
Great video ! The base you're using in your current UL playthrough, was that a POI you adapted or did you build it from scratch ? I started watching halfway through the series, I did go back to watch from the start but haven't found the episode where you either find it or build it yet.
Oh wow, this is literally my build lol It's the shape of a Starfighter. Thanks.
I'm not sure why, but the fart noise you added for falling zombies makes me laugh every time.
"zombies just do zombie things, sometimes."
Well I guess that's all the wisdom I need to survive this game, ha ha.
love You your videos, quick question, where can I find this slanted bars/ railings you have on the flanking wings ?
I tried to recreate a similar fighting position but just with 1 hole, and the zombies managed to jump straight up and crouch through the hole on my test, not sure what im doing wrong with it? is there another block on the outside im not noticing? Its solid all around, upsidedown scaffold in the middle and vault hatch facing me above, or should the hatch be facing out and have another in front of it facing out also to keep the hole above blocked?
Is there a video showing how the electric fences were set up to be across all three block height of the fighting position?
Awesome video!
